On January 3, 2009, Satoshi Nakamoto mined the first bitcoin genesis block. This led to the mining of the first 50 BTC. 14 years later, the sprawling bitcoin community is celebrating the day by sending bitcoins to an address containing a genesis block mining reward.

Since inception, many have randomly sent bitcoins to this account, bringing its total balance to 68.56 BTC.
