Today's spotlight is on Basics (beta), a product that allows beginners to immerse themselves in the Base ecosystem and walk away with in-depth knowledge of everything relating to Base.

Basics is a gamified product that aims to be a touchpoint for crypto newbies to better understand onchain concepts, make sense of the language often used around crypto products, and learn more about Base.

Ordinarily, consumer apps aim to abstract away confusing elements from users but there’s still a gap for early adopters who want to get a better understanding of the technology and it’s this gap that Basics wants to fill.

The product revolves around making the entire learning process fun and this is reflected in its structure and in-app lingo:

• 'Learning' is referred to as "surfing"

• 'Modules' are "beachfronts" and "waves"

• Users receive "shells" for completed modules, which may be redeemable for future utility

Trying to immerse yourself into an ecosystem when new to crypto can be pretty intimidating. There’s usually a lot of stats and confusing words flying around. The cool thing about a product like Basics is how it structures relevant information and presents it in bite-sized pieces making it easy to follow and understand.

Basics integrates with Privy, allowing users to sign up using social logins like email, Farcaster, or their wallet address.

The product is at a very early stage so content across modules is still in progress but I strongly think there’s a need for projects like this that serve as a primer on key details regarding Base & the onchain world.

Crowdmuse is a fantastic onchain e-commerce platform that takes on the age-old problem of connecting buyers with sellers and facilitating seamless transactions between both parties.

With Crowdmuse, creators or brands can sell a variety of items like clothing, art, books, or accessories, list merchandise designs as digital NFT to validate interest levels based on how people collect them before proceeding to physical prints.

A cool feature of Crowdmuse is how it supports creator splits allowing you to specify what percentage of sales would accrue to your co-creators on a project.

The first thing that jumped at me while using Crowdmuse was how well-designed the experience is. The intuitive interface aids product discovery as I found myself wanting to keep scrolling and check out more creators' profiles.

To use Crowdmuse, you can sign in using your wallet address or through social login for which you'll be issued a wallet.

Crowdmuse supports USDC payments on Base and other networks like Ethereum, Optimism, Zora, and Polygon.

Today's spotlight is on Drakula, a product that lets you earn for posting videos onchain.

A perfect way to describe Drakula would be "TikTok but onchain." Traditional social media operates on a system where many people drive value to the network by participating but the rewards only accrue to a very small percentage of users, with the bulk of profit going back to the companies behind these products.

With crypto, some of the promises for social media are:

1. User sovereignty (users having control over their relationship with their audience)

2. A better structure to directly profit from their output relative to the big social media companies

Drakula delivers on these promises. You can post short-video content onchain, and people can collect them using ETH or DEGEN (on Base).

Drakula supports Coinbase smart wallets and social login, making it easy for anyone to get started. You can log in using Farcaster, Apple etc. After logging in, you'll get a smart wallet allowing you to collect and post onchain.

Using Drakula is a lot of fun and we need more social products like this to succeed. This would validate the vision that social networks where anyone can easily monetize their social media relationships without relying on a third party are possible at scale.

Memes are the fuel that crypto culture runs on and have been a major driver behind communicating crypto ideas in a way that's accessible to many, cultivating their interest in the space.

Based Memes aims to make it easy to spin out meme images/gifs and mint them on-chain.

For example, I've been creating more memes lately and my process typically involves bookmarking memes I see so I can refer to the formats later if I have an idea for a meme, then go create it on Canva. My bookmarks are a mess as a result.

With Based memes, creating a meme just boils down to:

• Choosing a meme format from the available templates or uploading one.

• Adding text, and stickers.

• Downloading or minting onchain.

Bountycaster is one of those products with a clear value-add, everyone using it has a need for it and it's dead simple to use. If you're on Farcaster, you likely already have a sense of how Bountycaster works as it is a native Farcaster product.

It allows people to post bounties for various tasks such as having someone review an application you're working on, recommend restaurants, create a dashboard for you etc.

With Bountycaster, you can create bounties, set a payment amount, specify terms and conditions, and collect submissions.

Companies looking to hire talent can list their job descriptions, remuneration and application details on Bountycaster.

Bountycaster supports USDC & ETH for payments, as well as a number of other tokens on Base like DEGEN, Higher, and Moxie. You can filter listings based on category, recency, and status (whether open or closed).

Currently, to mitigate spam, Bountycaster only allows verified or early users of Farcaster to post jobs, services, or bounties.

Today's spotlight is on Bend (formerly known as Beam), a non-custodial wallet making it simple for anyone to transfer and receive international payments within minutes using US stablecoins on Base and Optimism.

A core idea at the heart of Bend, reflected in the UI and experience of the product throughout is making global money transfers as simple as possible. The product experience is clearly targeted at a non-crypto audience with cross-border transfer needs which makes sense given that stablecoins are one of the most prominent applications of crypto nearing product-market fit.

For this audience, Bend showcases the value-add of crypto by highlighting the following:

• No transaction limits

• Complete sovereignty over funds

• Near-instant transactions

As someone who has a clear sense of how painful cross-border transfers can be especially from a non-first-world country, I'm a big fan of products that focus on this pain point and onboard more users into crypto from this angle.

To use Bend, users need to fund the wallet with dollar stablecoins on Base or Optimism then proceed to send to the recipient's wallet details.

If the recipient doesn't have a wallet, the sender can create a 'Bend link' to send the money to and share the link with them, allowing the recipient to claim the funds on Bend.

One thing Bend does quite well is communicating its value proposition and how the product works in a way that's accessible to users new to crypto.

Today's spotlight is on Bonfire, a product that provides creators with the tools to create custom experiences for their audience onchain.

Bonfire aims to be the central hub for creators in web3 to connect, grow, and monetize their audience without having to write a line of code. Here are some of the features Bonfire offers to enable this:

• Websites: Creators can use Bonfire's drag-and-drop visual builder to create a website that serves as their portfolio or a landing page showcasing their value offering like art pieces available for mint. They offer a selection of ready-made templates that users can choose from when building a site and created sites can be linked to a custom domain.

• Social Feed: Bonfire offers a dedicated social feed for creators where they can share content and updates with their audience on the go. If you launch a new drop or have a special announcement to share with your fans, you can post it to your feed, notify users via email to check it out, and they can engage by dropping their comments and reactions.

• Content: With Bonfire, you can upload audio and video content onchain either to sell as a digital good or use in your websites and social feed. You can also run livestreams.

• Passes: Passes are unique tickets that offer your audience access to your livestreams, posts on your feed, content, or even a website page that you've locked/gated. You can create passes from your Bonfire profile, set a price, and each time someone collects a piece, they'll get access to the previously locked experience.

• Integrations: Bonfire supports integrations with Zora, Thirdweb, Pods, and others, allowing creators to import their collections from these platforms for use on Bonfire.

I feel like I only scratched the surface of what can be done with Bonfire while testing it out. Being the central hub for creators in web3 might sound like a lofty ambition but it's one Bonfire is definitely making good on.

The user experience throughout is seamless. They support social login for people new to crypto and also offer credit-card checkouts, making it easy for creators to sell to everyone.

Today's spotlight is on Blue Social (beta), a product that incentivizes forming real-life connections with people around you.

A common criticism of our times is how many people endlessly spend time glued to their devices at the expense of connecting with those around them, to the point where many have lost the ability to form real-life connections.

At social gatherings, people would rather be on their phones than talk to the folks next to them. It's a major problem that Blue Social aims to address by rewarding users with their in-app token, Blue (on Base) for real-world interactions with other people.

Basically, you get paid for engaging with the people around you.

Using Blue Social requires you to create a profile as you typically would on any social media app, sharing a little bit about yourself and highlighting your interests.

After creating your profile, you can opt into 'Discover Mode' which is the core of Blue Social's offering. It matches you, based on your interests with other Blue Social users around you who are interested in connecting by leveraging Bluetooth technology.

When you engage in a conversation with other users, Blue Social validates that you've actually interacted with each other through NFC (Near-field communication) on your devices and Bluetooth. After validation, you'll both get rewarded with Blue Tokens.

A cool feature of Blue Social is how well it abstracts away the crypto angle of the product. The sign-up process follows the standardized onboarding for social apps, allowing users to sign up with an email address and password making it easy for anyone to use the product regardless of their familiarity with crypto.

I think Blue Social is a laudable experiment towards a positive societal goal: fostering more human connections and I'm very curious to see how they execute and prevent bad actors from gaming the system at scale.

A simple way to describe Time.fun is as a product that allows you to put a price tag on how much your time is worth. For example, Nikita Bier is one of the most in-demand consumer growth thinkers in tech, having successfully scaled and sold two viral social media products, one to Meta and the other to Discord.

As a result, there is no shortage of people who want to schedule 1:1 calls to pick his brain on how to successfully embed virality into their products.

With Time.fun, Nikita puts a price tag on how much a minute of his time is worth, and people interested in having a call with him can buy a certain amount of his minutes. These minutes can then be redeemed for a meeting or for message responses from him.

You can think of Time.fun as an onchain-native way to schedule calls and get the attention of people you would like to have a conversation with or consult.

There's also a purely trading angle with Time.fun, where you buy minutes of someone's time as an asset if you think it'll increase in value and sell when it does.

Time.fun allows you to explore profiles via categories, so if you are looking for insights from founders, developers, or influencers, you can buy their time and redeem it for a meeting.

To create a profile, you need to verify at least one of your social media accounts. Upon doing so, you'll get a wallet address to use for trading, and you'll earn ETH when people trade your time or redeem it.

Time.fun certainly feels fun and is easy to navigate for crypto natives. Driving utility outside of trading is an interesting approach, and I think that improves its appeal and potential to be the default platform for people in the space open to consulting and sharing their insights.

At its peak, the Library of Alexandria in Egypt was one of the largest repositories of knowledge in the ancient world with a goal of collecting as many rare works as possible, texts closest to the original transcription.

Over time, a significant amount of the knowledge it contained was destroyed in fires and the library fell gradually into decline until it ceased to exist entirely. We generally regard the destruction of the library as a huge loss to human creativity and culture.

Alexandria exists today in the spirit of the role the Library of Alexandria once played, as a place to discover rare, limited books and build a library for yourself that exists onchain and will stand the test of time.

Today's spotlight is on Lunchbreak (beta), a product that allows you to list yourself as a collectible and get traded.

For most people, NFTs, tokens and memes are what typically come to mind when they think trading in crypto. However, Lunchbreak is offering something interestingly different: you can list yourself onchain as a collectible and get traded based on the strength of your social profile. It seems to be similar to FriendTech (the SocialFi app that was all the rage earlier this year), albeit a much easier version to understand and use.

The premise of Lunchbreak is simple: as your social profile and standing with your online connections grow, more people will want to own your collectible, making it more valuable and higher-priced and everyone who collects your profile gets a seat at your 'lunchtable'. It’s really quite a fun way to monetize your following and account growth on social media.

You can sign up using email, socials, or your wallet address. If you sign up using email or wallet, you'll need to verify your account on either Twitter, Farcaster, Instagram, or LinkedIn to redeem your earnings. Lunchbreak also offers revenue sharing, if someone joins through your invite link, you'll earn 2% of all their trades forever.

Lastly, Lunchbreak has an interesting feature where you can scout someone's profile, essentially creating a profile for them. For example, if a famous figure like Justin Bieber doesn't have a profile yet, scouting him would create a Justin Bieber profile on Lunchbreak, and you would be the first collector of that profile. As more people discover and collect that profile, your seat at the table becomes more valuable because you were the first collector and if the actual Justin Bieber comes around to claim the profile, then the value of your holding obviously goes through the roof.

I'm often skeptical of SocialFi apps because I think they tend to be more complicated than they need to be, but Lunchbreak is actually easy to understand and use. It feels like a product that has the potential to go the route of Polymarket, and it appeals to a broader audience by allowing people to monetize the following they already have on platforms like Instagram and Twitter.

Today's spotlight is on Hypersub, a fantastic product I believe everyone looking to build a sustainable creative business onchain should know about and try out.

Hypersub's mission is straightforward: provide a platform for anyone to earn recurring revenue onchain and they’ve executed remarkably well on this by offering an amazing design experience and a useful kit of tools and features. Let's explore them:

• Subscriptions: Hypersub allows you to create a subscription mechanism for your value offering. For example, if you're an artist who frequently shares art onchain, much of your revenue likely comes from one-time purchases. With Hypersub, you can create a deeper and more effective touchpoint with your audience by showcasing the value you'd provide consistently such as weekly airdrops, real-world events, or exclusive group chats and collect weekly, monthly or yearly subscriptions from them. To create a subscription, all you have to do is deploy an image onchain that serves as each subscriber's ticket to the promised perks and value when they collect it.

• Revenue-sharing: If you view your subscribers as not just supporters but believers in what you offer, it makes sense for them to share in the upside as your profile grows. In this vein, Hypersub allows you to split a percentage of your revenue with your subscribers. This accomplishes a number of things: it incentivizes them to actively evangelise/promote your brand and to stay subscribed.

  

• Referral-rewards: You can also set one-time referral rewards via Hypersub. For referring new subscribers to your profile, you can share a cut of the subscription payment with the referrer. In my opinion, this is a huge unlock because people will often times just instinctually respond to financial incentives no matter how small seeming they are and when you couple this with how great the onchain economy is at payments, you realise it’s a major growth opportunity.

Today's spotlight is on /Send, a peer-to-peer (p2p) payments app that allows you to easily send and receive USDC in your daily transactions.

Transferring USDC onchain from one wallet to another isn't necessarily difficult, especially if you're a crypto native. However, the experience can be somewhat clunky. As a stablecoin, USDC isn't a speculative asset - it can be relied on as a store of value in everyday transactions. USDC offers all the advantages of a crypto token without the baggage of wild fluctuations in value, which is why many people globally use it for cross-border transactions, paying employees, and even buying coffee.

Given the utility of USDC, it makes sense to have a dedicated wallet to use for USDC transactions on the go which is what /Send provides. It's a secure and quick way to move your USDC (on Base) around on mobile without compromising the safety of your funds.

/Send offers embedded wallets, which makes it helpful for onboarding people who aren't familiar with crypto. For example, if you're in the US and want to send money to someone in Nigeria, you could have them download /Send, share their wallet address with you, send them USDC and direct them on how to go offramp. The entire process would only take a couple of minutes.

With /Send, there's no need to note down and back up seed phrases. Instead, it uses passkeys to secure your funds and offers sendtags - readable names linked to wallet addresses for transactions.

Here's the flow of using /Send:

• Create an account using your mobile number.

• Deposit USDC on Base, Ethereum, or the in-app token; SEND into your wallet.

• Send funds to any wallet address. If your recipient is already on /Send, you can transfer to them using their Sendtag, mobile number, or SEND id (a unique ID for every /Send account).

Today's spotlight is on KIKI World, a beauty brand that co-creates products with their community of users.

KIKI World has a very interesting approach to creating beauty products. They only manufacture the products the majority of their community wants to see, and they do this through a transparent voting process.

Upon creating an account as a user, you can navigate to the voting section to see the live product campaigns and vote for the products you would love to have out in the world.

Now, this might not sound like a fully onchain product and it isn't but it leverages onchain capabilities very well namely the ability to issue unique collectibles (NFTs) to their users.

Each time a user votes for a particular product to be created, they receive an NFT (on Base) that marks their involvement in the process. The NFT serves as a badge of participation and if the product you vote for ends up getting created, the NFT is your claim to potential future rewards. Users can track how well the product they voted for is doing via the community leaderboard.

All in all, KIKI World is a very interesting experiment in a community-owned commerce model, and it has fun gamification features that I believe will aid in retaining and converting users. I also like how well the product abstracts away from crypto language that might be confusing. Most users wouldn't get the sense that any of this is onchain or even crypto-related.

Today's spotlight is on Pods.media, a product that allows you to listen to podcasts onchain and collect them.

If you actively listen to podcasts, chances are you have a niche or non-mainstream podcast that's been hugely entertaining or informative for you many times over. But what monetary benefit really accrues to the podcast host or team behind it at the end of the day? Likely nothing.

The biggest podcasts get the largest brand deals, sponsorships, and are able to better leverage their content into other revenue streams. For most podcasts, the effort that goes into it is ultimately a labor of love. It's clearly non-ideal, but that's the dynamic we've come to terms with.

Products like Pods.media change that dynamic for the better in my opinion by offering a distribution platform that allows listeners to collect their favorite podcasts onchain either for free or at a price, depending on the creator.

I'm always excited about any product that offers creators better monetization opportunities, especially smaller creators who historically tend to get no piece of the pie. Exploring products like these just deepens my belief that onchain is the next iteration of the internet.

Pods.media makes a process that can be ordinarily tedious just straightforward and simple. All you have to do is connect your wallet and collect to your heart's content, you can also earn as a listener when other people collect an episode using your referral link.

Today's spotlight is on Moshicam, a product for posting digital polaroids called Moshis onchain.

Moshicam is in my experience one of the easiest onchain products to use. Why?

• You don't need to already own a wallet to use it. Every account is issued a Coinbase smart wallet that's super straightforward to set up.

• The product feels very intuitive to use and there are gamified aspects like a leaderboard and free mints when you invite friends.

What's even more exciting are the borders and stickers. There are a variety of interesting borders you can use to have your pictures presented as a polaroid, and stickers you can attach all over your picture.

Moshicam's flow is pretty much this:

1. Create an account. (wallet not needed)

2. Upload a picture, choose the border that best fits its vibe, and post.

3. Share.

4. You'll earn each time someone collects your photo.

Also, there's a revenue opportunity for artists with Moshicam where you earn royalties each time someone creates or collects a picture that uses a border you created.

By eliminating the requirement to already own a wallet, the team has executed very well on simplifying the onboarding process to make it accessible to a wide audience. You can also integrate your Warpcast account to see what your friends on Warpcast are posting onchain.

The colorful vibe of Moshicam makes it very fun to play around with and go back to, whether it's to check new borders or feature updates ‐ it's a product people love, and it's clear to see why.

Today's spotlight is on Momentify, a product still in Beta that aims to make the experience around live music more fun and rewarding for fans and artists.

• For Fans: Momentify works as a discovery, social sharing, and engagement platform. You can discover live music events happening around you that match your taste, connect with other fans and people planning to attend the event, and also pay for the event, all within Momentify which is honestly a great package deal.
  
  There's an onchain in-app feed where you can see and collect music moments other people have shared, and post to as well.

  

• For Artists: Momentify allows you to more intimately connect with your fans. You can build fan lists, airdrop collectibles, and easily source user-generated content all in one place.
  
  There are clearly going to be some incredible monetization opportunities here for artists. Being able to directly transact with your fans onchain without having to pay a steep fee to a third party facilitating it is such a huge unlock.

  

Momentify seems to me like a great product for superfans because few things bring people close together like a shared taste in music does. Having a go-to app where you can bond with people who enjoy the same acts you do, are planning to go to the same shows as you, and share fun moments together is a very exciting use-case.

I wasn't able to directly test the app because it isn't available in my region yet, but I'm really looking forward to being able to use this as soon as possible.

Today's spotlight is on Rodeo, a product still in Beta mode that allows you to share moments — pictures and videos — onchain. But there's a twist: the content you share via Rodeo is fleeting, only live for 24 hours. The goal with Rodeo seems to be geared more towards nurturing conversations with your social network.

By leveraging your social graph on Farcaster (decentralization for the win 🥳). If you're active on a Farcaster app like Warpcast, you form relationships with people you engage with consistently, and you can move those connections across apps in the Farcaster ecosystem. When you log in to Rodeo, it immediately displays your Warpcast followers, provided they are already on Rodeo.

As you scroll through your feed, you'll see posts from your Farcaster friends, including what they're minting. You can easily mint any post you're interested in collecting, and post your own pictures and videos onchain as well. Rodeo has an Instagram-esque UI that makes navigating the app feel familiar.

The UX of Rodeo so far feels seamless. Creating and sharing are straightforward, and the social element is at the forefront through the prominent surfacing of comments and minting activity from people in your network.

Rodeo is currently in waitlist-invite mode. However, it's available to all Farcaster users so if you have a Warpcast/Farcaster account, you can jump right in like I did. All you need to do is connect your wallet address.

There's a clear bias here, but it feels more and more like Base is becoming the home of onchain consumer apps across the board. The growing number of social apps built on Base seems to validate this trend.

I like Rodeo and I'm very curious to see what experiments and features the team will deploy to grow and retain user activity.
