This wasn't an isolated incident; for months, Foundry and a few other industrial mining pools have consistently controlled the majority of Bitcoin's block discovery.

The network envisioned as the world's most decentralized money system has been quietly drifting toward centralization, one block at a time. When a small number of entities gain outsized influence over which transactions are processed and how blocks are produced, Bitcoin begins moving further away from Satoshi Nakamoto’s original vision.

Looking at the mempool that day, our founder felt compelled to play his part. Bitcoin had profoundly changed his life, and he believed it was time to give something back to the network that made it possible.

The Proof It Can Work Differently: The Parasite Pool & OMB Story

At the same time, a powerful counter-narrative has begun to emerge. Home mining and community-driven mining have been gaining renewed attention, even as some industrial miners pivot toward the more immediately profitable AI sector.

At the forefront of this movement is the

@OrdinalMaxiBiz

(OMB) community, a collective of passionate Ordinal collectors who chose to point their hashpower toward their own pool. These weren’t industrial giants or venture capital firms; they were individuals united by a shared purpose. Together, they’ve mined multiple Bitcoin blocks, proving that a community-driven approach to mining can work.

Our founder has been mining with

@Parasite_wtf

Pool since day one, witnessing firsthand the power of a community coming together to help secure the network. It demonstrated that decentralized, collective mining could be both effective and rewarding. A model where a community mines together, has fun, and shares in real Bitcoin rewards when a block is found resonated deeply with him.

There were no roadmap promises or speculative tokenomics charts involved...just real Bitcoin mined by real participants and distributed transparently.

Crucially, BasedMining leverages the same innovative payout system and contribution calculator pioneered and open-sourced by the legendary ZK_Shark, founder of Parasite Pool. We extend our deepest gratitude to ZK_Shark and the Parasite team for creating the foundational technology that makes this trustless, community-centric mining model possible.

Why Not Base?

The thought was simple: if a dedicated community could achieve this on its own, why couldn’t it be amplified on Base?

The Base ecosystem is home to one of the most active and engaged communities in crypto today. The infrastructure, wallets, onboarding tools, and culture are already in place. What’s been missing is a mechanism to channel that energy toward something profoundly impactful: supporting Bitcoin itself, helping strengthen the network, and pushing back against the slow drift toward mining centralization. BasedMining aims to be that mechanism.

Some Bitcoin maximalists may reject the idea entirely simply because it involves Ethereum and Base. We believe that view misses the bigger picture. Bitcoin remains the gold standard for decentralized money, while Ethereum and Base excel at coordination, applications, and community infrastructure. These systems do not have to compete; they can complement one another.

BasedMining exists at that intersection...bringing communities together through modern onchain infrastructure while directing value and participation back toward Bitcoin mining and network security.

Bitcoin is the gold standard.

For years, the space has watched the same cycle repeat itself. People chase memecoins, pile into the latest hype cycle, and buy vaporware tokens that promise everything and deliver nothing. In the end, most of them collapse into irrelevance, leaving holders with little more than screenshots of a chart and a lesson about chasing the wrong thing.

BasedMining is built on a different premise: if you're going to chase something, chase the one digital asset that has consistently survived, grown, and outperformed the noise around it. Chase Bitcoin.

Earn it through participation. Through hashpower. Through contributing to the discovery of an actual Bitcoin block. Not by gambling on a token nobody will remember next year.

Onboarding the Next Generation of Miners

Many people are drawn to the idea of mining Bitcoin but are discouraged by the perceived complexity and barriers to entry. The hardware is expensive, electricity costs can be intimidating, and the technical setup often feels overwhelming. For most individuals, solo mining at home appears nearly impossible given the astronomical odds of finding a block alone.

BasedMining is designed to break down those barriers and make Bitcoin mining more accessible, understandable, and engaging. We believe participation in securing the Bitcoin network should not be reserved solely for large industrial operators, the technically elite, or the financially privileged.

Instead, participation can begin with something as simple as minting an NFT. Behind the scenes, BasedMining agents rent real hashpower on your behalf and place you into the queue for upcoming mining events/block parties, allowing you to participate in real Bitcoin mining with transparent odds tied to actual network hashpower.

Users can start with as little as fifteen dollars or scale up further over time. The math is transparent, the onchain artwork lives permanently on Base, and payouts...when a block is found...are distributed directly to wallets in

$cbBTC

. No bridges. No unnecessary friction. No registration. No KYC.

Beyond accessibility, BasedMining is committed to education. Through video content, guides, and community resources, we aim to demystify Bitcoin mining and help onboard a new generation of participants into what we believe is the beginning of a new sovereign mining renaissance.

The Dawn of Agentic Mining

Visionaries like Brian Armstrong and others have spoken about the rise of agentic commerce...a future where autonomous AI agents increasingly participate in economic activity on behalf of users.

If that future materializes, Bitcoin mining will inevitably become part of the equation.

At BasedMining, we believe intelligent agents will eventually play a meaningful role in how hashpower is deployed, coordinated, and optimized across mining networks. Rather than relying entirely on manual decision-making, agents will be capable of monitoring network conditions in real time, analyzing probabilities, evaluating hashpower marketplaces, and determining when participation makes the most sense.

This is why BasedMining is being built with AI agents in mind from day one.

In the coming weeks, we will begin rolling out specialized agent skills and tooling designed to allow autonomous systems to participate directly in mining events and hashpower coordination. These agents will be able to interact with the platform programmatically, allocate resources dynamically, and optimize participation strategies on behalf of users.

The result is a new kind of mining experience: one where participation can become increasingly autonomous, efficient, and accessible. Users will be able to delegate strategy and execution to intelligent agents while still maintaining transparent ownership and reward distribution onchain.

With payments facilitated through x402 and settlement occurring natively within the modern onchain ecosystem, BasedMining is not simply connecting Bitcoin mining to Base and the EVM world...it is helping lay the groundwork for a future where autonomous agents actively participate in decentralized network security itself.

Our Vision for Collaborative Mining

For too long, Bitcoin mining has been perceived as an industrial activity reserved for large operators, hidden behind warehouses, contracts, and inaccessible infrastructure. Somewhere along the way, the sense of community was lost.

At BasedMining, we believe mining can become collaborative, social, and genuinely fun again.

We envision communities coming together around a shared goal: securing the Bitcoin network while participating in transparent, community-driven mining events. Whether it’s NFT communities, gaming ecosystems, online collectives, or groups of friends pooling participation together, mining can evolve into something far more engaging than simply plugging machines into a warehouse.

To support this vision, we’ve built leaderboards and participation systems that enable friendly competition, community events, and collaborative mining campaigns. Communities can organize contests, track contributions, celebrate wins together, and build entirely new forms of engagement around real Bitcoin mining activity.

We also see enormous potential for NFT founders and creators to integrate hashpower participation directly into their collections, introducing utility tied to actual Bitcoin mining rather than speculative token mechanics alone. For communities seeking more customized experiences, BasedMining can provide tailored dashboards, branded interfaces, gated participation systems, and additional tooling built around their specific needs.

Beyond NFTs and communities, we are actively exploring integrations with miniapps and onchain games, further blurring the line between entertainment, participation, and network contribution.

BasedMining is ultimately an open platform built for experimentation, collaboration, and community participation. We are eager to work alongside builders, creators, and communities throughout the ecosystem who share the belief that Bitcoin mining can become more open, engaging, and culturally connected than ever before.

The Goal

If enough people participate, something interesting begins to happen.

The pool’s hashpower grows. Blocks are found more frequently. And the Bitcoin network becomes incrementally more decentralized...because every share pointed toward BasedMining is hashpower no longer flowing into an industrial corporate pool.

We are not promising to overtake the largest mining operators overnight. That is not the point.

Every Block Party is a vote.

Every mint represents a small piece of hashpower pulled away from centralized infrastructure and redirected toward a community of people who genuinely want to preserve Bitcoin’s decentralized foundations.

Ordinal Maxi Biz proved that this model can work. The next step is expanding beyond a single community and bringing together ecosystems from across Base and beyond.

A mining pool where communities rally around a shared stratum endpoint. Where NFT communities, online collectives, agents, gamers, creators, and everyday users all contribute toward the same opportunity: finding blocks together while helping distribute mining participation more broadly across the network.

The fight against mining centralization will not be solved by one company or one protocol alone. It will be reduced gradually through the collective effort of thousands of people, projects, pools, and communities...each contributing in their own way to keeping Bitcoin open, distributed, and resilient.

BasedMining is our contribution. We hope you join us.

Built on the Shoulders of...

BasedMining would not exist without the work of the builders, developers, and communities who came before us. We want to recognize a few of the people and projects that helped make this possible.

ckpool -

@ckpooldev

Con Kolivas’s open-source mining pool software has quietly powered solo and community Bitcoin mining for over a decade. Reliable, battle-tested, and continuously maintained, ckpool has become foundational infrastructure for countless miners and pools across the ecosystem.

Many of the community solo pools people know today run on ckpool, and BasedMining is proud to be part of that lineage through our own patched implementation.

Con is one of the most important contributors to Bitcoin mining infrastructure that most people have never heard of.
