We kicked off with a stealth launch on Uniswap on 4 December, with 40ETH of locked liquidity. Two days later MetaFabric was listed on CoinGecko — arranging this at an early stage put us in a great starting position and brought us a lot of exposure in the opening week. On the same day, we announced the liquidity was locked as well as the vesting from the remaining token supply. We believe the lock was a good strategic move, as it solidifies the trust within the community and puts investors at ease.

In January, Tesla stated the following:

“In January 2021, we updated our investment policy to provide us with more flexibility to further diversify and maximize returns on our cash that is not required to maintain adequate operating liquidity […] Thereafter, we invested an aggregate $1.50 billion in bitcoin under this policy and may acquire and hold digital assets from time to time or long-term.”

Soon later, they announced that they would accept Bitcoin as a form of payment. This was big news for the coin, and others as well, skyrocketing the price. Soon later, however, they retracted this statement on the basis that Bitcoin was not environmentally friendly because of its use of proof-of-work.

Elon Musk, like his company Tesla, endorses the crypto space. Elon has pumped the prices of many cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and DogeCoin and killed them too. (For more info on this just look at his Twitter.)

In June El Salvador shocked the world, their parliament had voted to make Bitcoin a legal tender. Since then, they have had a very bullish stance on Bitcoin, buying the current dip in price. This decision, however, was not welcomed with open arms by citizens of the country. Many protested this but the country continued forward. With this passing, many other countries have also started debating on whether or not to accept Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as a form of payment.

2021 was the year that NFTs went viral. The technology behind them has been around for years, but they only just went mainstream. In March, the largest purchase of an NFT took place, it sold for an astounding $69 million and was by the artist Beeple. There is skepticism around the use cases of NFTs but with the market’s immense growth, I think they will be here to stay.
