JIT Protection in practice

Often times bots will use the JIT technique to farm token emissions (plus any trading fees) with almost zero risk by adding concentrated liquidity right before a large trade to instantly qualify for a share of the epochs emissions, capture the fees, and then immediately remove the liquidity to avoid impermanent loss or volatility. While this behavior can create inefficiencies for long-term liquidity providers, it also highlights the need for systems that better align incentives across all participants.

Blackhole’s upgraded pools are designed with that goal in mind. By introducing a minimum hold duration for liquidity positions, the protocol helps ensure that rewards flow to LPs who commit capital over time, rather than to fleeting positions that appear only around specific transactions. This creates a fairer and more durable framework for liquidity provision. The wait time for pools will be set to a minimum of 30 seconds for LPers starting off, but will be configurable as needed.

Why this matters

The aim is not simply to prevent opportunistic behavior, but to preserve the conditions that make concentrated liquidity markets healthy in the first place. Stronger protections help maintain a more balanced playing field, support sustained liquidity depth, and reinforce confidence among traders, LPs, and projects alike.

For long-term LPs, this means greater assurance that their participation is protected by design. For traders, it means access to deeper and more stable pools. For the broader ecosystem, it means an infrastructure that is built to evolve without compromising its core principles.

A Phased Transition

As these upgrades are introduced, liquidity positions will need to migrate to the new pools over time. The rollout is intentionally gradual, allowing the ecosystem to adapt smoothly while preserving continuity for LPs and projects.

Emissions on the new pools will closely track what would have been allocated to the retired pools, helping maintain a seamless transition period. High-impact pools are being prioritized first, and the new gauges will be bootstrapped with JIT protection and dynamic fee logic to support a more adaptive market structure.

Looking Ahead

This is more than a technical enhancement. It is part of a broader commitment to building a protocol that can withstand changing market conditions while continuing to serve the people who rely on it. By improving how liquidity is protected and rewarded, Blackhole is setting a higher standard for CLMM design.

The future of liquidity provision should be modular, transparent, and built for longevity. With these upgrades, Blackhole is moving in that direction by creating a system where capital is encouraged to stay, participation is rewarded fairly, and the ecosystem can keep growing with confidence.

How Nova Points Work

Warp Speed introduces Nova Points as the campaign’s accounting layer. Nova Points are not tokens; they are a scoring system used to allocate veNOVA once Supernova is live.

You can earn Nova Points in two primary ways:

1. Burning BLACK to mint or increase Supermassive veNFTs

   Every 1 BLACK burned to create or increase a Supermassive veNFT earns 1 Nova Point. This permanently reduces BLACK supply while increasing your long‑term exposure to Blackhole and aligning you with the ve(3,3) model.

2. Earning BLACK emissions from eligible LP pools on Blackhole

Every 1 BLACK emission you earn from Nova‑eligible liquidity pools grants 1 Nova Point. Only pools explicitly marked as “Nova Points Eligible” will count.

In short: both actions are rewarded in a way that directly ties into Supernova’s launch. Nova Points earned are in addition to any other benefits that accrue from these actions from on-going rewards or programs such as emissions for liquidity provisioning or Escape Velocity for Supermassives.

A dedicated Dune dashboard will provide an overview of each participant’s Nova Points standings, similar to the Escape Velocity seasons. Users can access it directly from the campaign banner, and all data is refreshed every 6 hours to keep rankings up to date.

Season 2 Wrap-up

Season 2 has wrapped up with an outstanding turnout. Participants collectively burned 14,531,233 $BLACK and created an impressive 16,644,865 veBLACK! Every eligible wallet will receive its portion of the Season 2 rebate pool, which totals 10,000,288 veBLACK.

Out of 972 eligible wallets that took part, 287 were brand new wallets, while the remaining 685 were seasoned holders who qualified by either extending or boosting their existing locks. Altogether, participants created 1,366 new locks this season.

Supermassive locks dominated the scene with 1,104 created, compared to 262 Singularity locks. Meanwhile, among existing positions, 860 wallets increased the amount of BLACK they locked, and 19 chose to extend their lock duration.

Season 1 has just concluded with incredible participation, resulting in a total of 17,711,561 veBLACK created by eligible participants!

Out of 1,003 eligible participating wallets, 343 were new wallets, while 660 existing wallets qualified by either extending or increasing their lock positions. All together, participants created 1,225 new locks. Notably, Supermassive locks were by far the most popular, with a total of 1,614 versus 123 Singularity locks. Among existing locks, 748 increased the amount of locked BLACK and 12 had their lock durations extended.

Season 2 Launch

Building on the overwhelming success of Season 1, we are thrilled to announce the launch of Escape Velocity Season 2.. We are doubling down on our commitment to accelerate decentralization and incentivize locking by increasing the veBLACK rebates pool from 6 million to 10 million veBLACK for this season.

Rules for Season 2

The rules for the Escape Velocity Program remain the same as for the previous season:

How Does the Escape Velocity Rebate Work?

Launching with an initial 6 million veBLACK rebates available for Season 1, the rules for the Escape Velocity Program are:

1. Lock a minimum of 2000 veBLACK (excluding airdrop locks)

2. Extend an existing lock by at least 2000 veBLACK during the season

   This applies to both Supermassive and Singularity locks, as long as the 2000 veBLACK minimum is met

3. If locks transfer between wallets, the rebate is awarded to the wallet that performs the locking action, ensuring fairness

4. Tokens claimed as Rebase will not be eligible for a rebate

5. Each locker can receive a rebate up to 10% of the season’s total pool. This cap of 10% encourages broad participation while avoiding concentration of rewards in a few large holders

6. The rebate will come in the form of a Supermassive NFTs airdropped directly to qualifying wallets

By encouraging locking through this rebate structure, we anticipate a surge in interest, resulting in more BLACK tokens being locked over the season (building on the 4.5 million already locked). As announced in our recent Airdrop blog, at the Token Generation Event, all team and foundation tokens have been burned to mint Supermassive veNFTs, permanently removing them from circulation. Emissions Schedule

The emissions schedule will comprise four distinct phases:

• Phase 0 - Singularity (epoch 0): This is the initial phase and will begin with a distribution of 10M BLACK tokens.

• Phase 1 - Event Horizon (epoch 1-14) Token distributions will increase by 3% with each new epoch to incentivize early adoption and participation in the protocol.

• Phase 2 - Accretion Disk (epoch 15-66): Token distributions will gradually decrease by 1% per epoch to manage inflation and support long-term sustainability.

• Phase 3 - Hawking Radiation (epoch 67 => ): The rate of token distribution will be adjusted dynamically. The number of distributions, with respect to the previous epoch, may increase by 1%, decrease by 1%, or remain the same each epoch, based on votes from Supermassive veNFT holders. This governance model empowers stakeholders to influence the token's economic policy and respond effectively to changing market conditions. The launch date for Phase 3 is flexible and may be moved forward based on market conditions. This approach allows the protocol to adapt proactively to emerging challenges and opportunities, ensuring an optimal balance between incentivization and stability.

Rebase

All veNFT holders receive a rebase proportional to protocol token emissions and to the ratio of locked to circulating supply, reducing vote power dilution.

The weekly rebase amount is calculated with the following formula:

This rebase formula will reward veNFT holders most when locking rates decrease, incentivizing new lockers to step in. veNFT supply does not affect weekly emissions distributed to liquidity providers.

Guarded Launch

A Guarded Launch is a phased deployment approach that intentionally restricts certain protocol functionalities at the outset, gradually expanding access as the system demonstrates stability and security. This model is increasingly recognized in DeFi as a best practice to mitigate risks during the critical early stages of a protocol’s lifecycle.

At launch, the ability to create new liquidity pools on Blackhole will be restricted to a whitelist of approved addresses. This step allows the team and community to closely monitor system performance, address any unforeseen issues, and prevent malicious actors from exploiting potential vulnerabilities during the protocol’s most vulnerable phase. Once Blackhole demonstrates consistent reliability and passes rigorous security and performance benchmarks, permissionless pool creation will be enabled. Singularity Lock

The Singularity veNFT allows users to lock $BLACK tokens for a flexible duration, ranging from one week to four years, following a model inspired by Curve Finance’s proven vote-escrow mechanism. The amount of voting power, represented as veBLACK, is determined by both the number of $BLACK tokens locked and the lock duration. The relationship is linear: the longer the lock period, the higher the veBLACK voting power. For example:

• 100 $BLACK locked for 4 years yields 100 veBLACK.

• 100 $BLACK locked for 1 year yields 25 veBLACK.

This mechanism rewards longer commitments with greater voting influence and a larger share of the protocol’s trading fees and voter incentives. The Singularity veNFT is ideal for users seeking flexibility, as it accommodates shorter lock periods. It suits participants who want to engage in governance and earn rewards without a permanent commitment.

Supermassive Lock

The Supermassive veNFT introduces a new feature: permanent token locking by sending $BLACK tokens to a burn address, effectively removing them from the circulating supply forever. This perma-locking mechanism is a key differentiator from other vote-escrow protocols, including the Singularity model. Only Supermassive veNFTs are issued to the Blackhole team for their token allocations, ensuring their incentives are fully aligned with the protocol’s long-term success by eliminating the possibility of team token selling pressure.

Supermassive veNFTs offer non-decaying voting power, unlike Singularity veNFTs, which may require re-locking to maintain influence. This permanence translates to a stable, ongoing claim on protocol revenue, including trading fees and voter incentives. Additionally, Supermassive veNFT holders receive a 10% boost in veBLACK voting power and as such a 10% bonus on their rebase rewards, which are proportional to protocol token emissions and the ratio of locked to circulating supply.
