In April 2021, 4 million people walked away from their jobs in what amounted to record resignations. In total — 47 million people voluntarily left their jobs in 2021. The Great Resignation, as it has been named, describes the wave of resignations happening around the country as people quit unfulfilling roles to take on more fulfilling opportunities, pursue dreams, or take a stab at entrepreneurship. People quit for all sorts of reasons including a change in work-life balance, desired impact at work, or a career change. or take a stab at entrepreneurship. One of the biggest takeaways from the pandemic is that none of us knows how much time we have to live, so let’s make the best of it and enjoy it. 

Since I got out of school, I’ve been in a role that I had decidedly realized was not for me, but I had stayed. I thought the varied work experiences, connections, opportunity to work abroad, and location would boost my career growth. But a pandemic arose and pushed out my timeline and everyone else’s. Such is life. To move forward, I took a plunge and backpacked around the world. Came back, tried stuff out, and lost my step — never be afraid to get back on track when that happens. Suspend your self-judgment, let your anxiety pass through you, and embrace the opportunity before you — pick up where you left off.
