Last year Salvador, a small country in Central America, got a lot of attention for having made Bitcoin a legal tender and this focus isn’t anywhere close to its end as they are now creating the first Bitcoin city in the world. With this move, the president of the country Nayib Bukele made himself an internet sensation and is now followed by 3.7 million persons on Twitter. It’s more than half of the population of this little country. For comparison, the French president Emmanuel Macron is “only” followed by 8 million people in a country of nearly 70 million people and the same proportion is true also for the American president.

This small but daring country did open the way to many more to come and the next group of countries to accept the Bitcoin includes not less than Portugal and another Central American country: Honduras. Mexico also did indicate its interests in recent days.

For being a little more precise, and also accurate, Honduras and Portugal will be first experimenting with the use of bitcoin as legal tenders in Honduras’ special economic zone of the Island of Roatan, and in Portugal’s autonomous region of Madeira. In Honduras, Bitcoin will be legal tender and have a tax-free status. They will also create bitcoin bonds.

In Madeira, the President of the autonomous region said they will adopt Bitcoin and create an environment that will make it thrive.

Mexico too is working on a bill that will provide a framework for Crypto and Fintech but also make Bitcoin legal tender.

In this process, it is quite obvious that Honduras and Portugal are acting quicker than Mexico.

It is not unremarkable that the part of Tourism in the Economy of Honduras and Portugal is respectively 14,7% and 19.8% whereas even if it’s a sizeable part, it only represents 8% of Mexico’s GDP. This industry took a harsh hit with restrictions applied to international travel since the start of the worldwide epidemic of anti-covid policies. It was during that moment when lockdowns were in fashion that many people discovered Crypto and the earlier investors did get to enjoy a nice juicy level of profit.

Now, most of the world is opening to travel again the most likely to travel are people who benefited from the lockdowns, which still managed to protect their wealth or income. Bitcoin and crypto, in general, did work well in this regard.

Now, these Crypto-friendly regions are going to be the great winners in this process. Salvador is already an example as they are having the fastest post-Covid recuperation of Tourism in the world (already 81% of the pre-pandemic levels).

So now you have another use case for your Bitcoins, you can Travel to Salvador, Honduras and Portugal and soon Mexico. There, you will be able to spend your Bitcoins without incurring any exchange fees, the transfer from your Bitcoin wallet to the payee will be extremely fast compared to traditional Bankwire and with an extremely low fee (it’s almost free).

You’ll be able to use more of your money for Getting an upgraded room at your Seaview hotel, enjoy these countries’ famous exotic and delicious cuisine or just relax with a nice cocktail on an Island with a mild climate all year long.

Who wouldn’t after this long period of lockdown and restrictions?
