Who is BRUX?

Well, my real name is Liz (hi!) & I’m an electronic producer, artist, vocalist, DJ and analog synth nerd from Sydney, Australia living in New York City. I’ve been making music since 2006 & started BRUX in 2016 after moving away from a previous project that was more commercial & for me, creatively limiting. I’m drawn to art that is abstract & abrasive & knew I had to follow my gut feeling.

BRUX is all about rebellion, raw authenticity & fiery confidence - qualities that I’m told juxtapose my day to day calm energy (ha!). But it’s been so interesting to observe the opportunities that come into orbit from following an authentic existence. It’s lead me to work with some of the most awe-inspiring creatives in music, film & fashion.

A path I’m committed to sticking to.

I’m interested in creating a world with my music that feels liberating & intoxicating…the blurred lines between surrealism & reality, leaning into the uncomfortable & reveling in it.

Web3 || BADBOI EP

My web3 journey started ~12 months ago on Zora where I minted an explosive 3D animated music video NFT of my track Take ft. Kimbra.

Around the same time I was chosen to be a participant in the FWB Fellowship program which was an incubator for me as a creator in this new space. Simultaneously I was onboarded to Sound.xyz as a Season 1 artist, raising 7.5 ETH on my first two drops, “Step Down” & “Push”.

That was the turning point for me.

I pivoted away from my recording deal & took matters into my own hands, fully funding a club EP thanks to my Sound collectors. It was the first body of work of this size that was fully funded independently - a big deal for the BRUX project!

Everything from the press shots to the cover art, mixing/mastering fees, DJ servicing, PR for North America & Australia, remix fees & indie distribution costs were covered.

The personal growth on this independent path has been huge to say the least. It happened during a time of mammoth shift in my surrounding team - pulling this entire release together with no management, no label or booking agent could not have been as successful without the support of my fans & collectors.

The EP dropped August 25, 2022 featuring 3 original tracks plus 2 remixes.

VINEGAR HILL || the music video

VINEGAR HILL is a scream into the ether, the adrenaline coursing through your veins, the sweat on your upper lip. This song is a call to action, bringing people together & harnessing power in the form of community.

“Speak up! Live a little! UGH! Yeah you’re bad, you’re bigger…”

The music video is about two opposing forces of ACTION & INACTION. We explore this polarity through the story of a fearful recluse, trapped in their own world, but lured out of their comfort zone…

I’m working with New York-based film director Ben Sottak to shoot a gritty, energetic video in the style of Harmony Korine (Springbreakers) this March. My goal is to raise 10 ETH & involve you, my community of collectors & supporters, in the creative process along the way!

Cost breakdowns

• Talent: $2,800

• Crew: $5,900

• Equipment, Props, Wardrobe: $7,000

• Miscellaneous (transport, contingency, insurance): $3,000

Total cost exceeds my goal amount so will be supplemented with personal funds.
