Builder Tech Pod Updates

It’s time for another round of Builder Buzz Tech Updates. Over the past weeks, we’ve pushed forward improvements across artwork management, onboarding flows, documentation, and the Farcaster Mini App, alongside long-standing fixes from the backlog. We also opened discussions on sustainable revenue models, recognizing this as an ongoing priority for the community. Our focus now is to balance delivery on feature requests with the technical implementation of the Zora Coining SDK and Social Feed feature for new revenue streams.

What to watch out for

• We request you to comment on the Builder Coining Design Document until October 17.

• We want to invite you to the 5th Community Product Session on October 23 at 12:00 (EDT), where we will be discussing the Builder Coining Design Document. We request you to comment on the proposed specification and engage with us in shaping the final implementation of this feature.

  • We also intend to give this space to the community. If you have an agenda request, let us know and we will include it in the session.

  • We will share a Luma link for sign-up and agenda setting shortly.

• Adding more DAO links requires contract changes. Thus, we will deprioritize this feature request.

Documentation & Reporting

Alongside the coining specification, we are refining user documentation to cover overlooked areas such as claim functionality and CSV uploads. These updates are aimed at smoothing onboarding, improving developer experience, and ensuring future contributors have a reliable knowledge base to work from.

If you see anything missing, let us know and we will revise the documentation accordingly.

DRAFT Release of Coining Specification

We’ve published the DRAFT of the Builder Coining Design Document (v0.1) to lay out an actionable plan to extend Builder beyond ERC-721s with ERC-20 “coining”, integrating Zora’s SDK, a mobile-first feed and curated gallery, and a revenue model that MAY pair DAO coins - generating platform and trade referrals, LP rewards.

Request for Comments: The document can be accessed here and we solicit feedback until October 17, 2025.

Documentation Refinement

A common request has been clearer documentation for the claim functionality in Builder. We’ve now expanded the reference to explain how claims are processed, under what conditions rewards can be accessed, and how DAO members can audit claim transactions. This should reduce confusion for newer users and help ensure transparency across proposals. The corresponding PR is found here.

We also added documentation for creating Airdrops, also reflecting the latest addition of the CSV upload feature for airdrops to many recipients.

Feature Releases

Since the last edition of Builder Buzz, we’ve been working on many issues mainly visible on the backend and important to technical contributors. Still, there are a few feature releases regular users will notice:

Founder Rewards

We added the ability to split auction rewards with a dedicated withdraw button. Tooltips now clarify the differences between Builder Rewards, Referral Rewards, and Founder Rewards, and balances are hidden if the Founder Rewards Split Percentage is set at 0.

CSV Upload for Airdrops

To simplify distribution flows, we’ve introduced support for CSV uploads. DAO operators can now bulk-upload recipient lists for airdrops or rewards, reducing manual overhead and minimizing risk of error. This functionality was designed with both flexibility and transparency in mind, and will continue to be iterated as DAOs put it into practice.

Component Refactor

The ongoing frontend refactor is progressing steadily. The UI component library has been extracted into a separate package (with hooks, utils, and services already on npm). Larger app modules such as auction, DAO creation, and proposal voting are being carefully broken out, with dependency untangling to ensure ease of adoption by external teams.

The goal is to make components framework-agnostic, reducing lock-in and encouraging wider use across DAOs. The refactor is already improving development speed and code stability. Community members can test updated components here.

Gnars x Builder Hacker House @ Devconnect

We are excited to confirm the Gnars x Builder Hacker House at Devconnect. This event will bring together builders, skaters, and DAO members to experiment with new tooling, test prototypes, and collaborate on live projects. Builder Tech Pod Updates

With the renewal of our residency now approved (see proposal), we are both grateful and motivated to continue serving the Builder community. Thank you for your trust and feedback over the past months. Your input has shaped everything from bug fixes and UX refinements to tooling reports and new proposal types.

Over the past weeks, we shipped improvements across artwork management, onboarding, documentation, and the Farcaster mini app, alongside fixes that had been on the backlog for some time. We also started conversations around sustainable revenue models, recognising that this remains an important concern for the community. Going forward, our aim is to balance delivering on feature requests with supporting revenue generation efforts from a technical perspective. Many DAO residents are already involved in scoping this out, and we are optimistic about the next Tech Pod cycle.

What to watch out for

• We are planning Community Product Session #4. Please let us know whether you prefer 11 or 18 September at 12:00 (EDT). So far, no topics have been requested for discussion. While we want to give this space to the community, we don’t want to organize something that is not needed. If you have an agenda request, let us know. If there is sufficient interest, we will share a Luma link for sign-up and agenda setting.

• We are actively working on grouping components into a library within the monorepo.

• GIF support is another initiative currently in progress.

Documentation & Reporting

When we started contributing as Tech & Product Residents almost six months ago, Builder infrastructure and tooling existed but were not really tracked anywhere. As part of our mandate for updating and maintaining Builder tooling, we promised to deliver a report that gives all stakeholders an overview of the current state. This report has now been released.

At the same time, we acknowledge that a report may not be the most convenient way of keeping up to date for regular community members. We heard you! That’s why we also improved the reporting on GitHub.

Our third Community Product Session was a great success. Fourteen members signed up across Builder DAOs including Freezeverse, Nouns DAO Africa, and Yellow Collective. After reviewing the backlog, we focused on three initiatives: artwork uploads, Zora integration, and Droposal support. If you're looking to join the conversation, head to the forum here.

Uploading Artworks

We agreed to revise the replace artwork flow (already in production), add an add artwork proposal (now live), add documentation (in staging), and help DAOs add an opaque property when overhauling NFTs. We also began enabling GIF support, which requires optimisation before going live.

Zora Integration

We discussed integrating with the Zora SDK and possible options for revenue generation. This requires significant scoping from both a DAO and operational perspective. An intriguing initial brainstorming session took place from a purely technical angle.

Roadmap

The session concluded by setting priorities on these initiatives in relation to the existing backlog, leading to the tentative roadmap shown below.

At the time, our socials were slow, IG had just 6 videos and ~700 followers, no Farcaster/Youtube presence, no Zora/Giveth profiles, etc. Since then, we’ve gained momentum with more content and storytelling, which led to the first PodMedia proposal. From that point on, we’ve delivered countless casts, photos, and videos; supported devs by testing the new website (bids, droposals, etc.); guided new shredders through meetings, tips, and development paths; and even launched The return of Gnarly News, packed with gnarly/nounish things, founded by gnarOG @0xsatori Now, in this bull run ATH times, it feels essential to keep strengthening this work of Action Sports Onchain, covering IRL + URL happenings across platforms, maintaining traction for Gnars, supporting onboarding, branding, newsletters, and projects like Gnars Flows with @rocketman This proposal supports the continuation of PodMedia plus the execution of two Gnarly Contests: - Art-focused contest: creating designs for Skategnars decks + new boards in the boards.wtf project founded by gnarOG @benbodhi - Creative video contest: like last year’s, using nogglesrails and other nounish elements exemple (@preciousnoggles & @bigshotklim works) to inspire gnarly skate/sport edits. Builder Tech Pod Updates

In this Tech Pod update, we share our progress on long-awaited features like treasury support for tokens and NFTs, clearer UX for delegations, and a major overhaul of our documentation to better serve both new users and contributors. We’ve also rolled out smoother third-party integrations (Wallet Connect proposals), bug fixes, and various UX enhancements. All thanks to your ongoing community feedback. While turnout at our last product session was low, we’ve received constructive and insightful feedback from individual community members. This led us to prioritise legacy support for Droposals and gave us insight to desired use cases for Nouns Builder today and in the future. With our first residency coming to an end and so much more features in the backlog, we are excited to share that we would like to re-run. We’re currently working on a proposal to renew our residency and are keen to get the roadmap for the next months straight.

Documentation Overhaul

We just published a significant overhaul of the existing documentation. The documentation was regrouped into an onboarding guide for new users, a user guide, and a contributor guide. We also incorporated Satori's Knowledge Base, and added links and references to improve navigation in the Nouns Builder ecosystem. Please share your feedback and documentation requests!

Throwback to one of the first skate sessions I hosted over the past few years. This one was in Idyllwild during the second FWB FEST. The year before, FWB had raised funds to rebuild part of the skatepark, which came about because of a town flyer someone saw that was asking for money to rebuild the halfpipe. I made mistakes last year, but I didn’t expect sending those nogs to the treasury would have been one of them. That allocation has been implicity voted through prop 711 and a few months ago, after the stop of our stream, I have been publicly asked from the proposer to put that allocation in the treasury. My plan for those nogs was still the same of what was in our prop and I would have put them in the treasury and double them anyway, but it’s quite ironic that they’ve been taken by the same person who wanted them there. But I accept it. Btw, we are going through this and nogs will succeed. We accept this outcome and we will use it to truly restart from the foundations. 2 days ago I got a long dm from the proposer which I really appreciated and I’m confident that in 6 months, maybe even a year, we will all look back at this period like something necessary to reach the success nogs and our nounish products are going to have. We’re also working on improvements for delegation views, metadata display, and streamlined proposal templates. Usability and Communications Tooling

During the last sprint we focused on enhancing tooling that is used by the community to share and collaborate on governance activity. Markdown Support for Propdates

While the first version of Propdates was minimally viable, especially for longer propdates usability was not ideal. For this reason, we have now added full markdown support and the interface allows you to select a milestone to provide milestone-specific updates.

Nouns.Build Live as Farcaster Mini App Live

Nouns Builder previously was supported as a Frame, but with Farcaster's move to the Mini App standard DAO members were not able to use nouns.build on Farcaster anymore. That's why we took the previously supported feature set and updated it to become a Mini App. You can now share your DAO on Farcaster and interact with it. If a highly desired feature is not yet supported, please let us know.

Propdate Notifications Live on Farcaster Builderbot

We got it merged! After retrieving all the details around the Builder Bot - a community contribution - we merged the PR that enables Farcaster direct cast notifications for Propdates. We used the opportunity to also integrated the Builder Bot hosting into DAO management.

Community Products Prioritisation Session

On May 29 we hosted our first community product prioritization session, which was attended by more than a handful of dedicated Builder DAOists. Since we introduced this format, we are looking for feedback on what you got out of the session and how you would like this session to be improved in the future.

From this interaction with all of you, who attended, we took a tight roadmap with seven features that are actionable and concise. These features are:

1. Enhance the displaying of delegations

2. Display and send support for non-native assets

3. Adding timestamps and block explorer links to executed transactions, such as proposals and bids

4. Providing a reusable template site including the publication of components, hooks, and utils

5. Complementing the documentation

6. Extending the member profile page feature set

New! Builder Tech Pod Updates

With the incoming builder residents' proposal up for vote, it is a good time to recap improvements, bug fixes, and features deployed for the Builder DAO community to use. In this newly added section of the Builder Buzz newsletter, you will get a run down of product updates and what to watch out for.

What to watch out for

• We will be hosting a monthly product roadmapping session, starting on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at 12:00  PM (EST) during the regular Tech Office Hours. What to expect:

  • Community tooling priotisation of BuilderSDK, NounsConnect, Nouns Builder Site, Builder Components, Builder Bot, etc.

  • If you have tooling not listed above, this is your opportunity to make it top of mind.

  • Taking stock of core features for nouns.build.

  • Including your feedback for prioritising these features on the Builder DAO roadmap

• For DAOs to fully benefit from the Escrow Proposals, you can delegate the release of milestones. If you have an urgent need for delegation capabilities, please reach out to the incoming builder residents.

• We are currently prioritising bug fixes in the backlog. If you find something, please report to the builder residents in the report bugs and issues channel or file a ticket.

• Are you using any wallet currently not listed on the Connect Modal? Tell us which one!

Escrow and Propdate Integration

Escrow proposals and propdates are now available on nouns.build and testnet.nouns.build. As DAOs start using the feature and we receive feedback, we will enhance the user experience where possible and provide support. First things on the list is introducing milestone tagging for Propdates and supporting DAOs to delegate milestone releases.

Escrow Proposals Live

The technical integration of the smart escrow contracts was completed last week. You can now select the "Escrow Milestone" proposal type from the proposal menu on the nouns.build app. If you're unsure how to use it on your DAO or what exactly to add on an escrow proposal, you can consult the updated documentation:

There is also a recorded walkthrough available here.

Once executed, your milestones show up on the main proposal page and look something like this. If you have the permissions to execute, you will also see a release button.

Propdates Live

Anyone can now post a propdate or comment on proposals. Note: Only Propdates by DAO members are shown by default. To see all Propdates, click on "All Propdates". A dedicated user guide is available here.

Nouns Social, now Comint.wtf, update thread This is a Nouns Farcaster client with minting built in. I had some incredible discussions at Nouns Fest about how we can use minting as a nounish community funding primitive and will get post the full vision onto the Comint site soon. For now, a tech update. 1. Minting with embedded wallets works 2. Creating NFTs from casts and splitting the proceeds with the Nouns treasury works 3. Still some bugs This is iOS, web also seems to work but want to QA more. The UX for loading the embedded wallet doesn't exist yet, but will be adding that ASAP and then think it's ready for TestFlight.
