Let’s have a brief look at what roles these 12 Novice Cryptoids fall into:

Tank Novice:

Kakuro (Damage reduction, 4 fashion parts)

Kakuro is the damage reduction specialist. Having 4 fashion parts and these incredible abilities means Kakuro has the high HP stats and good shield value to fend off the enemies.

Pruritus and Ollie could reduce enemy damage either by debuff or damage reduction. Irresistible and Thick and Heavy could generate additional shields for Kakuro. Although Kakuro’s abilities didn’t have impressive shield value on paper, the additional shield bonus and damage reduction provide the bulk Kakuro needed to protect its team.

Saberba (Self-regeneration, 4 food parts)

Don’t let Saberba’s cute look fool you, it is very bulky with excessive self-healing in its kit. Compare with Kakuro, Saberba is lacking in firepower. However, it has the ability to omit critical-hit and block piercing damage if its shield got destroyed, plus having so many food parts gave Saberba the highest HP out of all the Novice Cryptoids.

Add Sugar and Colorful Lollipop provide decent shield value and heal Saberba a considerable amount of HP, greatly increasing its longevity. Sexy Protection and Zero Crit further protect Saberba from taking unnecessary damage from the opponent.

Okona (Damage reflection, 3 fashion parts)

Okana is less tanky than Kakuro and Saberba, but retaliating is its real speciality. Two of its abilities could reflect the received damage back to its enemy. After taking the first wave of damage hitting extra hard with Kiai-Ire and healing itself through Back to Life.

Damage Novice:

Devic (Critical-hitter, 4 animal parts)

Devic is a crit-focused heavy hitter, by increasing luck and critical chance with Lucky Ears and Last Supper, Devic has a much higher chance of landing a critical hit than normal Cryptoids.

After setting up, Devic could finish off its enemies with Violent Antelope, an ability dealing 250% damage on a critical hit. 1/0 is good to help Devic win the speed tie in a fight because Devic is built to knock out its enemy before they attack.

Shelala (Back-roll killer, 3 tech 2 spirit parts)

Annoyed by the enemies’ backline but could not bypass their tank? Shelala is here to help with its ability to snipe off squishy backline! All of Shelala’s abilities could hit enemies’ backlines, either by bypassing the frontline or targeting idle or furthest targets. There is literally no escape from Shelala.

Nono (Combo master, 4 tech parts)

Nono combos hard and hits even harder! Two of Nono’s abilities will increase its attack by targetting enemies of a specific race. You can then follow up with Meow Meow Meow and Combo Cotton to deal explosive damage when combo together with other cards.

Tactic Novice:

Jarbin (Card slasher, 3 vit 3 spirit parts)

Your enemies’ attacks are as good as their ability cards, what if you could not play them out? That is Jarbin’s favourite strategy! Jarbin can first put their enemies into sleep, then use the rest of its kits to discard as many cards from the enemies as possible.

This could create an ability vacuum in enemies’ turn, letting Jarbin’s teammate tear them apart.

Mojiku (Damage over time, 2 fashion 2 spirit parts)

Mojiku can drown its opponents with poison, a damage over time (DOT) debuff in World of Cryptoids. After applying DOT debuff on your enemies, you can use Naughty Ears to stall their turns by stealing their energy! Also, applying Chaos with Bad News can avoid the enemy from targeting your highest priority teammate.

Vegita (Shield breaker, 4 vit parts)

Vegita can apply debuff and weaken enemies’ shields and deal additional damage to shielded targets. Naked can allow the next attack to ignore enemy shields while Fragile can cause the enemy’s shield to take double damage.

Combine with Outwardly Strong and Popcorn Dad, you can easily pierce through shields with Vegita!

Support Novice:

Moku (Energy gain, 2 food 2 vit parts)

Moku has little to no firepower, but it has all the best energy generation in the game. It can even generate energy without consuming any energy itself. Therefore, it pairs extremely well with heavy hitters who need huge energy supplies.

Pampam (Healer, 3 food parts)

Share and Cheers are Pampam’s bread and butter in supporting its teammate. Pampam can heal and mitigate teammates’ debuff easily with its abilities.

Moreover, Untouchable can protect Pampam from Tech’s backline snipping ability and Cured Clover can heal off damage that managed to sneak past the tank. Making Pampam hard to be snipped down and it will be constantly healing its teammate.

Carlia (Versatile support, 2 vit parts)

Carlia is the most versatile support out of the three Novice Cryptoids. It can heal, apply debuff and give additional shields to adjacent allies.

Carlia can apply Misfortune when struck by Tech/Spirit enemies when using Kickback, guaranteeing its enemy to miss the next attack, which is huge as Tech/Spirit is some of the strongest damage dealers in World of Cryptoids. With Snap and Last Piece, Carlia provides all-rounded support to its team.

In short, you can see every Novice Cryptoid has its niche. It is up to you to explore what they are good at and bad at, go and try out different team compositions! Just know that if your team needed a particular member, you can always count on the Novice Cryptoids!

There will be an emission schedule set to approach 2B ABC supply in the next 3 years (y1 700m, y2 350m, y3 150m). These yearly emission rates, will be split into epoch distributions. Once the supply hits 2B there will be a terminal inflation rate of 2% per year.

The total supply of 2b is distributed as such:

When an epoch concludes, there is a set amount of tokens that’ll be distributed in that epoch. Therefore, we’ve introduced epoch distribution credits (abbreviated as EDC) which represent your proportional claim on an epochs ABC emission. For example, imagine that an epoch generates 100m EDC, Alice owns 10m of that epochs EDC generated, and 50m ABC are emitted. Alice will be able to claim 5m ABC (10% of total ABC emitted) from that epochs emission because she is responsible for generating 10% of the total EDC in that epoch. So, how does one earn EDC? Appraise!

There are two ways to earn EDC:

(1) Participate in Abacus Crowds sessions. At the conclusion of a Crowds session, correct appraisers (i.e. properly valued the NFT) receive a reward, which is automatically sent to the Abacus treasury in exchange for epoch distribution credits at a 1:1 ratio (denominated in wei). Therefore, if your reward size is 2 ETH in a Crowds session that reward will be sent to the Abacus treasury and 2 ETH worth of EDC will be credited to you (increasing your share of that epochs ABC emission). Furthermore, any winner will have the opportunity to exchange their stake for EDC as well.

(2) Abacus Spot pools. When a trader buys into a Spot pool they must choose an amount of time to lock their purchased pool tokens. Based on the amount of time the trader locks their tokens for, they receive an increasingly discounted cost basis for EDC and therefore ABC. For example, imagine Alice and Bob purchase 10 ETH worth of pool tokens but Alice locks hers for 6 weeks and Bob locks his for 2 weeks. At the end of his 2 week lock up, Bob will be able to purchase up to 20 EDC for 10 ETH and at the end of her 6 week lock up Alice will be able to purchase up to 60 EDC for 10 ETH. Therefore, if the epoch concludes and emits 100 ABC, Alice can claim 75 ABC while Bob can only claim 25 ABC even though they both spent 10 ETH (Alice paid 0.133 ETH/ABC and Bob paid 0.5 ETH/ABC). In addition to trader rewards, when a Spot pool closes, any ETH earned can be sent to the Abacus treasury in exchange for EDC at a 1:1 ratio.

So… ABC? Wat do?

ABC can be staked in exchange for veABC (dependent on length of lock up) which will represent governance powers over Abacus. Holders receive 0.75% of all revenue generated from EDC purchases. Furthermore, they have the power to control the epoch distribution gauge.

The epoch distribution gauge controls the premium size that the protocol offers to different NFT collections. For example, if Punks hold 20% of gauge vote, anyone who earns EDC in a Punk based Spot pool receives epoch distribution credits equal to 120% of EDC purchase (i.e. if purchasing 60 EDC they’d receive 72 EDC for the same price). Since traders will look for the highest offered EV in a pool this gauge acts as a powerful incentive to draw traders into NFTs of a certain collection. This cascades into higher levels of liquidity flowing and higher yields for the NFT owner that created the Spot pool (due to higher activity levels), making gauge control a powerful tool.

In addition to specific allocation powers, collection agnostic veABC holders can auto allocate their tokens. Every epoch, interested parties can bribe auto allocators as a whole for control over allocation usage. For example, imagine 20% of the veABC supply is auto allocated, 1000 ETH of bribes comes in, and 100 ETH of those bribes are for the Punks collection. This means that on top of the explicit allocation, Punks will have an added 2% increase. Meanwhile, auto allocators will split any bribes paid in each epoch.

Due to the use of FIFO in Spot pool closures, early positions are extremely valuable. Therefore, there will be a short period of time at the opening of pools in which a user can pay ABC to the treasury in exchange for early access to a Spot pool.

There will be a public pre-sale of 50m ABC (2.5% of target supply) that will be capped at a $100m FDV. If the pre-sale increases beyond this FDV target all buyers will receive a pro rata portion of the tokens purchased. Excess amounts paid will be automatically be used to purchase EDC at a 1:1 ratio to be applied in Epoch 1.

The Turkish government subjected cryptocurrency exchanges to anti-money laundering and terrorism financing regulations.

The country’s exchanges must level-up their KYC practices and report suspicious trading behavior to the government “just like banks.”

The Turkish government has added cryptocurrency exchanges to the list of firms subject to the country’s anti-money laundering and terrorism financing (AML-TF) regulations.

The regulatory change took immediate effect after the presidential decree — similar to an executive order in the US — was published in the Official Gazette.

By applying those rules to crypto, the government now subjects the 31 crypto exchanges that operate in the country to the stringent regulation set by the financial watchdog, MASAK.

MASAK has occasionally requested a list of customers from the country’s cryptocurrency exchanges, but otherwise left crypto exchanges alone.

Now MASAK will treat crypto exchanges “just like banks,” Mehmet Türkarslan, legal counsel at a major Turkish crypto exchange, told Decrypt.

Starting today, exchanges have to demand proof of residency and identity documents (far from the norm in Turkey), and periodically check the validity of those documents.

Exchanges must also block any customer blacklisted by the government in sanctions lists, report any suspicious trading activity, and brief the government on any services provided to institutional customers.

“The list goes on and on, and we’re currently trying to figure it all out,” Agah Selim Sesli, a senior researcher at crypto exchange Bitexten, told Decrypt.

This regulation is the first in a series of anticipated crypto regulations that the government says will come by the end of next week. Sesli expects that such regulation may include rules on taxation and, like in the US, declaration of private wallets.

This regulatory spree builds on prior regulation. Three weeks ago, the central bank banned the use of crypto in everyday payments, and restricted PayPal-like payment processors from dealing with crypto.

The flurry of regulation has caused confusion. “The government hasn’t even defined crypto assets, let alone crypto asset service providers,” Osman Gazi Güçlütürk, head of the department IT Law at Kırklareli University, told Decrypt. “These clarifications matter a lot in law.”

The government, which had never before explicitly referenced cryptocurrency exchanges, started introducing regulation on “crypto asset platforms”, and now “crypto asset service providers,” Türkarslan said. “We just assume it means crypto exchanges and act accordingly.”

“Crypto asset service provider” is a reference to the Financial Action Task Force’s description of crypto exchanges as virtual asset service providers (VASP), explained Güçlütürk.

The European Union relied on that term when deciding how to regulate crypto. But the EU has elaborately defined crypto asset providers before publishing regulations applying to them — unlike the Turkish government, which has dropped the term out of the blue.

The regulation follows the sudden shutdown of two major crypto exchanges that operate in the country. Thodex and Vebitcoin vanished overnight last week, locking up the funds of their customers.

Mertcan Bayraktar, a lawyer who represents several people in a case against Thodex, told Decrypt that regulating crypto exchanges is “of course a good thing,” but the government’s risk-averse approach may dissuade crypto traders from using the platforms.

“Crypto, or blockchain in general, offers amazing opportunities,” he said. “Deterring people from investing or trading crypto when it’s continuously portrayed in a negative light is also a potential risk.”
