In a typical DAO, members with enough governance power have the ability to create a proposal. Anything can be proposed, from transferring money to minting an NFT.

Change has added a new proposal option: Donate to Charity. After selecting, the proposer is prompted to search for a charity. There are over 200k charities available to choose from, provided by Change.

Once a selection has been made, a concise proposal description is suggested to aid other DAO members in understanding the mission of the charity. A link to the charity’s profile on getchange.io is also provided for those who want to find out more.

It’s ready to propose! In typical DAO fashion, the other members will now have the opportunity to vote yea or nay on the donation.

If the proposal succeeds, the donation will automatically execute. The specified amount will be transferred from the DAO’s treasury to the charity’s wallet. From there, Change automatically handles disbursement of the funds to the charity. Tax receipts can be requested from Change at any time.
