My vision for Felt is to ultimately build a product that encourages us to be well—to do the things that we already know, from 30 years of wellbeing research, actually make a difference to the quality of our lives.

To begin with, that means a close friend's feed, capped at 15 individuals — drawing on Dunbar's research that most people can actively maintain about 15 close relationships within a wider circle of roughly 150 meaningful ties — and putting them into a lightweight, private space where you can easily stay connected to the people you're close to.

Second, we’re adding a simple way to gather—and return to—positive emotions. We’re starting with “music that brings you joy” — a quick weekly reflection. Week by week, you’ll build a personal catalogue of shortcuts to positive emotion and, gently, a “Felt Profile”: a picture of your best, wisest self — the part that knows how to live well. It’s a profile you can return to, and that others can see, too.

Both of these things—strong relationships and positive emotion—are cornerstones of wellbeing. And they’re the starting points for the design and user experience.

Over time, Felt will become a series of small, supportive experiences that are proven to enhance wellbeing. Some will be well-known, like gratitude journaling. Others will be lesser-known practices that help build a sense of flourishing. There will be something new every week on Felt Friday.

Through them, we’ll create a rich, layered experience—one that keeps you connected to the people who matter, to your core sense of self, and to the kind of practices that build both wellbeing and resilience to changing circumstances.

I have three Hopes for Felt

1. That people find it useful and enjoyable—that it has a gentle presence in their lives, and ultimately contributes in a small but meaningful way to human flourishing.

2. That it becomes sustainable—that people value it enough to support it financially, so it can cover the cost of my time and efforts. But honestly, I’m also building it for myself. I enjoy the process. It gives me a sense of autonomy, creativity, and flow. I’m building mastery and learning through doing. It builds relationships. It scratches an itch. This is an app I want for myself—and for my family.

3. That it becomes a distinctive early example of what’s possible in the Farcaster ecosystem. Something different from a Twitter or Instagram clone. Something that’s only possible because of the open, autonomous nature of Farcaster. Something that points to a new direction for digital life—social tech that nourishes us. That is a positive force, for individuals and for society.

Our Vision for CoCreated

We are building a CoOwned organization. An organization that enables brands, teams and communities to be more connected, more expressed, and more creative -> through collective art experiences.

Working with generative community artists (like ChrisCoCreated) the organization will provide products and experiences to brands, artists events, organizations and communities. 

By working with CoCreated our clients will have more people that feel like they belong, have a clearer shared identity, a stronger understanding of what they are doing and where they are going, and be better at generating and implementing ideas.

At its core we help build the  relational tissue and creative muscle that help groups of people thrive.

Art experiences that strengthen groups of any size from small teams, to large events and communities. Increase belonging, identity, understanding, creativity, and shared vision by creating together.

We are building the organization (CoCreated) on Co-Ownership principles, early contributors will have a stake in the organization as it grows and brings more people into Co-Ownership, a flywheel that incentivises all parties to grow the organization.

Stewarded initially by @ChrisCoCreated with @Lior, the approach will leverage the farcaster network to gather contributions to the project and reward the value that people bring.

We are looking for people who can contribute to bringing the vision for CoCreated to life in any way, through relationships, ideas, dev, communication, marketing, partnership etc. etc.

The overarching objective is to help CoCreated become a market-ready product/service with actionable ideas and partnerships.

• Ideas for CoCreated products (either new or using existing CoCreated work) that teams, communities etc. might want to buy of the shelf

• Research and exploration of possible products, services, or experiences to meet the needs of various markets

• People who want to be part of building this (dev, growth, strategy, funding etc)

  • Dev and design expertise to build and ship the ideas.

  • Relationship and community builders to bring in people and partnerships

  • Leadership to oversee projects from ideation and Guild commitment to completion

• Either yourself or make introductions from your network

Step 2 Ideation phase

• Discussion workshop for initial client and product ideas

  • This can be anything from 100 words (on what you’d bring to the project, or someone you’d introduce), to a fully worked proposal to partner with a client and deliver a pilot project.

Step 3 Implementation and Execution phase

• Chris (with input from other CoOwners) selects ideas to move forward

• Define team(s) for each selected idea

• Committed and focused execution of the ideas to completion by each team

Every active guild member will be rewarded with at least one initial artwork of appreciation token, which signifies membership in the guild and is the placeholder for future rewards. The transformation of these rewards to revenue share or ownership will be done at a later stage by the stewards (similar to  Retroactive Public Goods Funding).

The idea is to engage in an emergent process together, based on trust, and led by ChrisCoCreated. There is no long term commitment on either side, other than contributions made now will be included when there is a solid reward structure in place.

After this first cycle future rewards will be identified in relation to the work being taken forward.

The thinking behind the rewards: People will get involved initially because they are interested in the vision, like and trust what I am doing with CoCreated, and would like some future upside.

Though the allocation or upside won’t yet be known, it will be transparent and will recognise contribution. If people don’t agree with the allocation, they may not engage further. However, Chris is incentivised to properly recognise valuable contributions.

Could ideas be taken and not recognised? Yes, but this is a trust based system, based on irl connection. As the process develops and things firm up then their will be clearer rewards and 

Chris has spent 20 years creating art experiences in real life through 5 theatre productions, and. He has run a elderly care business that focuses on the dignity and humanity of the elderly while bringing new methods of care to help them flourish in the final chapters 3 years ago, Chris brought his abilities to web3 which began the exploration of digital art and community. Through his innovative approach, he has initiated projects that bring a different approach to web3---fun, meaningful, etc etc. He has seen success in drawing the attention of Optimism featuring a user focused project on their main page. Farcaster opened a new world for Chris leading to a workshop at the first Farcon, multiple collab gen-art projects, and a first of its kind photography collaboration project. Through these efforts, Chris has been able to catch the eye and engage some notable people in web3 and create a launching pad to take cocreated to a new level through collaboration and co-ownership.

I can do coms, I can do growths, I can do dev, but at my heart I am an artist, I respond to the world. I create experiences for people that start from my truth, and what I'm trying to say and do in the world.

I have a startup, CoCreated, is it a startup, is it a practice? I don't know, but I keep creating and making, shipping new products (artworks) every month. Every product has a load of potential that I don't put the energy into replicating and scaling, because that isn't the thing that gets me fired up. But I know there are people out there who thrive on growing good stuff and helping it find its market an customers, and people who are fired up by building a solid tech infrastructure, and other artists who will create fire collaborative experiences.

There is so much repeatable value in the CoCreated artworks that could be realised. And there is network of people who have the skills and connections to release that value. So let's put it together, do what web3 does amazingly and share in the upside. Which is why I'm creating this CoOwnCaster experiment with @lior and an emerging community made up of some awesome people.

I want to share the upside with people who want to build and grow CoCreated with me.

Much of this meaning-making happens in isolation, confined within our individual minds. Yet we all crave connection and belonging. We yearn for our personal narratives to intertwine with those of others, to find resonance and reflection in a collective story.

Community artworks serve as collective stories, encapsulating our identities, ideas, and sense of belonging. They transcend the individual, weaving together the threads of personal experiences into a tapestry of communal identity. At their best, these artworks speak of our shared sense of time and place, of who we are and where we belong.

Some communities have thrived for millennia, rooted in religious or national identities. Others are defined by the project they are working on, or an event attended. Regardless of their foundation, each community is made stronger and more coherent through creative expression. Art-making, in its many forms, provides agency; it allows us to shape our world and assert our presence within it. This act of creation is a form of power, a declaration of existence and significance.

When art-making becomes a collective endeavour, it amplifies this power, weaving a sense of belonging into the creative process. It's akin to the collective experience of being part of a crowd at a stadium, where the shared energy and unity are palpable. Football songs, with their raw and visceral nature, exemplify this form of community art. They are more than chants; they are affirmations of identity and belonging, resonating deeply with those who sing them. In these moments, we do more than proclaim the superiority of our team; we articulate who we are collectively. These 'songs'--whether literal or metaphorical--carry forward our sense of belonging, power, and expression. They help shape the world we inhabit and aspire to create.

I aspire to make meaning on this level, that binds purposeful communities closer together, making them more powerful to shape our world, in all its malleable form, into something richer, more connected, more meaningful.

By engaging in community art, we contribute to a collective narrative that is greater than the sum of its parts. We reinforce our identity and values, building a shared vision of the future. This collective creativity not only strengthens our bonds but also propels us towards a world that reflects our collective aspirations.

The Onchain Hugs artwork uses the Proof of Friendship protocol to create a unique pair of NFTs featuring two people who sign as friends onchain.

Proof of Friendship is a protocol that utilizes the Base blockchain and Farcaster frames technology to create a secure, transparent, and verifiable way of symbolizing and solidifying friendships in the digital age by recording an onchain proof.

1. The protocol is initiated in an interactive cast, or "frame," on a Farcaster social media client, such as Warpcast. When an user interacts with the Onchain Hugs frame, the frame prompts the user to pay for the creation of 2 Onchain Hugs NFTs, whose serve as a unique representation of the friendship. The user can select the colors and preview the NFT.

   1. Typing the username of the intended friend, and optionally adding the colors.

   2. Putting it onchain by confirming the transaction in your wallet.

2. The user then shares a link to their personalized Hug Frame with their intended friend. This link serves as an invitation for their friend to participate in the protocol.

3. When the intended friend interacts with the Hug Frame, they confirm their acceptance of the friendship Onchain Hugs NFT. This confirmation is recorded on the blockchain through a smart contract, which mints the unique digital asset with verifiable ownership.

4. Both the user and the recipient receive a copy of the Hug NFT, customized through the Hug Frame's interactive features, as a tangible representation of their friendship.

The Proof of Friendship protocol leverages the inherent benefits of blockchain technology to create a secure, transparent, and verifiable method of symbolizing friendships in the digital age. The resulting Onchain Hugs NFTs are unique, customizable, and serve as a lasting proof of their friendship.

Breaking bread together is a deeply relational act. One that is difficult to reproduce through a digital connection, this project/piece is an attempt to do so.

Through a couple of experimental workshops with CoLaborators I have come to the conclusion that it is through sharing moments of our lives that we come close to the intimacy of breaking bread together.

The project is the experience of connecting and sharing, represented (tokenised) by the creation of an art piece that shares moments. Based on this recipe:

2. Find someone to talk to about your bread (they will be provided in the workshop conversation).

3. Share a moment from your life connected to your bread picture. It can be mundane or deeply meaningful, all that matters is that it is truthful (examples below).

4. Hear what they connected with.

5. Listen to their bread story.

6. Tell them something that they said that you connected to in some way.

7. (Optional) share on Farcaster.

Some Casts are Art

Digital art in web3 is transcendent; not the mere pixels, but the profound societal shift that is happening through the new technologies and the structures web3 is enabling. I am proposing that the act of casting (writing words and publishing them) on a decentralised protocol is a work of art in its own right. If we view the action of casting from the perspective of an artistic statement, taking part in this open web of immutable digital connections is powerful. The concept is able to transport us into new ways of seeing and thinking, to open up new perspectives, to perhaps be building an additional dimension of thought. The interweaving net of ideas that casting causes, and the questions it is asking of us about the nature of our society, our communities, our relationships are profound.

The protocol as a whole is radical, and then some of the casts (320 character text messages, with links to further content) are then profound in their own right. However we present these transformative casts in the same way as all the other disposable content - we fail to imbue them with power and effect.

The piece we are making starts to ask the question - how to make casts sacred objects - ones that are bigger then themselves, that enable us to glimpse something larger through them?

I have started building an experimental farcaster client as a community art work. Below I've shared my emerging vision and described some of the key elements that are getting built.

If I am a digital community artist, then perhaps a digital community should be my artwork.

Vision

An experiment that pushes our thinking forward in what Farcaster and social can be, how art is made and experienced, how we live well in our web3 enabled future.

A creative community experience for and with members and guests of CoCreated.

An app experience with front of house (open), presentation space (gallery/theatre), backstage (social) and a workshop (creation). Providing a space for an audience coming to view what we are creating and curating; a way of our audience connecting and communicating with us; a behind the scenes space for connection and creating together .

An experience that is composable, where you can engage casually from your preferred client, and come to the app/artwork to engage in depth. Perhaps providing a framework that enables us/others to plug into the artworks we have made and remix them.

From a personal perspective my vision is to build something that nourishes me, through connecting, creating and playing together, and simultaneously makes being a digital community artist my main living, so I can spend more of my time doing it.

This is an experiment in what a Farcaster client can be, that pushes our imagination and stretches our thinking and blurs the boundaries between art and social, where we are all creative.

Who's doing this?

Me (ChrisCoCreated) and others who want to play along. Fundamentally I'm doing this as an artist to get the stuff in my head out into the world - I'm compelled to, I'm doing it 6am and 10pm on the weekends, and around my work.

I'm well up for playing along with others - while also keeping myself focused on the core that I'm building here. I am prioritising working with people who have invested into CoCreated by becoming part of the community as a subscribing CoLaborator (currently anyone supporting the crowdfund over 0.01ETH). My core questions are - does it move CoCreated on in a focused way? Does it maintain flow for me, or is it a distraction? Will it be fun!

The elements of the client

Artwork

There will be regular standalone pieces of art that we create together. At a minimum I will be creating the parameters and output for the work, with the community providing the input - as I described in this model for community artwork. I'm sure other collaborations and ways of working together will emerge.

I have said before, that We are the Art and I am also challenging myself in creating this for the client and the community to be an artwork. I don't entirely know what that looks like or means, but I find it a provoking and challenging thought to work with.

Gallery

There will be galleries providing a space to share and discover art. Particularly artwork that the community CoCurates (which will be funded from the sales of the CoCreated artworks).

Collaboration tools

It will also provide tools for producing collaborative artworks, that turn casts into text or images in one form or another.

Community Hub

I see the client (and the channel available on Warpcast and everywhere else you get your casts) as a place for people exploring collaborative art, to come together, exchange ideas, and support each other.

At it's heart, its a experimental space, trying things out, doing things just because, doing things that don't fit into an exiting category, working out what's useful, having fun while I do it.

I've always followed the with and for approach to making community art. The below model articulates how I'm thinking about my process using input from our digital communities as the raw material for work. Working with a community to make something for them.

The community provides the raw material which is their response to the topic/ theme/ provocation of the piece, this is the core - the data for the piece. Next steps - client & composability

Part of my vision for CoCreated is a client that gives a more satisfying creative experience for the community, rather than just free casting input, like these work in progress examples.

The model also points toward composability, and suggests a direction of travel where the CoCreated project provides an api with the communities data for a specific work, and/or the raw data gets written on chain for recomposition, and/or there is a way to plug code into the CoCreated app to render different artists interpretations. All this is early stage, as the CoCreated project emerges.

Last year I sought to clarify for myself what I'm putting out into the world, the above is what I created. Reflecting back on the work over the past 18 months. I have touched towards this, but I am definitely still journeying, enjoying the process, with the output not yet where I would like it to be. Building CoCreated is an explicit step in delivering on this statement.

I tend towards not saying enough, leaving things ambiguous, so I have pushed myself to say more and clarify on each point.

I aim to be a Philosopher Builder; creating experiences to help us live truly and happily:    

I live my life as a practical philosopher. For me philosphy isn't abstracted in an ivory tower - Wisdom is the knowledge that enables us to live truly and happily. And I aim to be and build in the world to do that.

That are playful, open, curious, connected.

Open, curious and playful are the core behaviours that we developed over years of practice working with people living with dementia, and they are principles that I hold on to in my relationships with others. For me they are the core of connection.

That nourish us and those we share this life with.

I want to build experiences that help us live well, that feed us, support us to grow, and maintain us in good condition. For me the creative act is a big part of what I find nourishing, and over the years I've seen it released in many many others.

That build our mental wealth.

I am fascinated by the field of positive psychology and the study of what enables us to flourish. I aspire to make work that leverages the evidence base to help us build our mental health assets.

That are as concerned with the process and the experience as the outcome.

As many have said before it is the journey and not the destination. I intend to live each day well, of course with an eye to the future and what we are working to achieve, but not to the detriment of the present.

That are experimental, knowing that there is always something to be learned.

Creativity is learning, learning is creativity. Experimenting is crucial to both. My working definition of creativity is anything that is new and useful (at least to the creator)

That are beautiful.

Beauty has truth at its core, it is harmonious. Though it is not always straightforward, and I believe there is beauty to be found in much that is ugly if you can look at it the right way.

That optimise for fun!

My decision making north star. I take fun seriously - what Cathrine Price calls True Fun - and the key components are connection, flow and playfulness. If I am unsure which choice to make I pick the one that will connect me to people, that will make time disappear, that is doing it for its own sake and not the outcome.

That create the conditions for joy and love and laughter.

This is the core of what I want from life.

I see us experimenting with the potential of digital technology to express and enjoy ourselves by making and collecting art.

Part of the experiment will be a Farcaster client that is also a community artwork (side note - my evolving thoughts around FC client as artwork)

Vibe

The community artwork / app I am building has been described back to me as a vibe client. So what's the vibe? If I were to say it in a word -> Nourishing; if I have a few more, then open, curious, playful, kind, generous. Essentially I am trying to bring my artistic intention as a Philosopher Builder into the world through this work.

Some experiences in the app will be gated to community members, other will be available to our audience. Visualise the app a bit like a theatre - with a public front of house (public chat) and auditorium (audience experience), and a private workshop (creative space) and greenroom (social space).

Mechanics

Community members commit to supporting (contributing to and collecting) one new artwork a month.

• Everyone in the community gets the piece for free.

• We then sell the piece, and a split goes to the lead artist and the rest of the proceeds from that sale goes to a shared treasury that we use to buy creative work.

• We have a token for the treasury that represents a portion of ownership and voting rights.

Defining CoCreation

I define CoCreation as a community collaborating to create, collect and connect. Community Art has always fundamentally been about a group of people in common coming together to express something. It is a creative process, originated by an artist (professional or otherwise), and developed by a community of people, who are the collaborators in the project. Web3 adds another co to the mix, the collector (buyer, patron) who often also becomes part of the community. By holding the community token in their wallet, the collector brings financial and social resources to the project, and is vested in its value creation. This third element brings a strong motivational force that results in people bringing significant discretionary effort to a project. Motivation in web3 community art is significantly enhanced over more conventional forms because it is both fun and functional (more on this later) and is a core element of the co-creation process.

Why I’ve circled back to community art

I became passionate about community art for a number of reasons: giving people a voice who didn’t normally have one; the believe that everyone is creative and has more possibility inside of them that is ever realised; it is often fun and playful; because I made the most amazing connections with people. Fundamentally it helped me and the people I was working with live well, and be happier, healthier and more connected. However, community art at the start of the century was always limited in terms of resources, I could live well in the moment, but I would be limited in my power - and if I’m honest - I make art to be more powerful in the world. If I could be a compartmentalised kind of person, who did my work and went home, then maybe I could have made it work, but I’m the kind of person who holds responsibility deeply, who gets wrapped up in a project. The combination of over engagement for limited return and limited impact was not sustainable for me and my family. So I moved away to have more impact elsewhere, and live a more bounded existence. I kept wanting to make art about what it is to exist, and that has created another tension that I’ve been feeding mainly through improv, but also writing, drawing and photography. I spend much of my time thinking and talking about how to live. For me, part of living well is making art with a community of people who want to thrive,  with a scalable impact on the world, whilst making enough money to be comfortable from doing it; web3 is creating the conditions for this to happen.

We are entering into a way of working where the distinction between what we do for our wellbeing, and what we do to generate income is evaporating in this process of co-creation. I wasn’t looking for it, but I have come to realise that web3 creates the conditions for me to do what I’ve always loved to do.

Where I’ve been and where I’m going

My practice over the past 20 years has been around the interaction between originators (artists, creators, entrepreneurs) and collaborators from all walks of life. I’ve done this work in theatres, care homes and when leading businesses. At the start of my career, I called it community theatre, later social enterprise, but fundamentally much of it is a similar process.I have working in a co-created way in interactive theatre, where the piece is co-created by the performer in their interaction with the audience (often on a street or in a care home). I still do it in improv, co-creating with fellow performers (often non-professionals) in the moment on that stage. I also see this thread across my business leadership. A performance is the same as a business, is the same as a discord community. Ultimately they are all organisations (however short or long term) working together to achieve something greater than they could achieve on their own. I have never experienced something like web3 before; disparate people globally connected, brought together extremely rapidly around shared values and approaches to co-create. The collection they are involved in brands them / defines their identity and, when well-led (facilitated), they can apply their energy in a very direct way as a collaborative to the creation of something new and valuable in the world. So my role going forward brings my key passions of facilitative leadership and art together. The future for me is as an artist CoCreating with a community of open curious and playful people who want to make a positive difference in the world so that we all live more truly and happily.

Update: Building a CoCreated community together

I am now getting intentional about building and facilitating a CoCreated community. A community exploring how we live well enabled by web3, creating and collecting art together that expresses something of our shared values and experience.
An experimental Farcaster Client will be part of of the mix; it will be a Community Hub / Vibe Client / Artwork in it's own right.

I think of my creative process as an messy spiral, viewed at a distance it is iterating in tighter and tighter circles, close up it is a messy line. I am currently somewhere in the middle of the spiral.

Since falling down the web3 rabbit hole a couple of years ago, and re-finding my creative energy and my artistic voice, I have been on a journey towards a cocreative practice that delivers on my vision as a community artist, creating work that explores how we live more truly and happily. My intention for writing here is to share my process, my thinking and the work created as I form a community of collaborators around CoCreation; with the intention to empower ourselves and others, examine our lives, and explore what we can achieve with these emerging technologies.
