After a scheduled hiatus during the month of January for some IRL obligations, we're glad to be back in the swing of things, poised and ready to showcase some of what's available around the digital arts scene. This edition includes releases and projects on Zora, objkt, Highlight, fx(hash), Verse and Rodeo; what we're reading and watching; and more.

As a housekeeping note, we started a dedicated (art) Collector's Corner Farcaster account and would appreciate everyone following it here. This will allow for a solely art-focused feed instead of one interspersed with the ramblings of my personal @fluffheadchaser account.

To see some of our most recently collected pieces and/or to get more timely information on releases, follow our (art) Collector's Corner channel on Warpcast.

-- FluffheadChaser 😊

"The Condemned Fisherman" is a short animation from @lucianaguerraok's 'Alive series', where the artist reimagines Bosch’s chaotic universes. In this scene, we are immersed in a surreal, lysergic landscape where everything pulses with eerie vitality, shifting and morphing as if caught in an endless hallucination. A fisherman, trapped in a nightmarish loop, attempts to reel in a strange, elusive creature from the depths of hell. Meanwhile, a mischievous little devil—who has placed a spell on him—lurks nearby, taunting him and dragging him deeper into an infernal descent.

Fakewhale Gallery makes its debut on Verse with an exceptional first release by Dev Harlan. “The Dithering (You Are Here)” goes live (auction) on Wed., Dec. 11.

In the five-piece series, the artist continues his exploration of emulated desktop environments to contextualize climate apathy within the historical framework of techno-utopian visions that have often dismissed or opposed climate science.

The Dithering by Dev Harlan | Verse

The series *The Dithering (You Are Here)* extends Dev Harlan's work with emulated desktops to contextualize climate apathy within the history of techtopian imaginaries which have largely been dismissive or hostile towards climate science. The work begins with an exploration of the first IPCC Assessment Report, published in 1990, whose pages have been reconstructed within an emulated 90's era Macintosh system.

Invoking a captivating interplay between light and shadow, digital artist Wojac's recently-released 100-piece collection, "Sandman's Apprentice", is sure to capture the imagination.

The series is built on a process the artist developed called the "5-Layer Method", which begins with unconscious mark-making and evolves through layers of color, light, texture, and analog gestures. This process ensures consistency throughout the series while providing a solid foundation from which the artist intentionally explores the boundaries of speed and depth, all while embracing moments of discovery and serendipity, according to LoneWick's Artletter, which covered the release in detail.

In generative artist Hevey's newest release on fx(hash), 'Constructions Mentales' (x/444, 25 xtz), every element serves as a metaphor, offering a glimpse into the labyrinth of the human psyche.

The chaotic cluster of eroded, disordered architectural structures symbolizes the resilience and fragility of our mental constructs, shaped by memories, experiences, and societal conditioning. Barred windows and confined figures represent limiting beliefs and repressed emotions, while a hanging figure evokes sacrifice and stagnation. This work invites viewers to confront the forces shaping their inner world, fostering reflection, reorganization, and the pursuit of transformation.

COMING NOV. 14: 'Mother' is a twelve-piece narrative series by UK-based digital painter George Goodwin (@OMGiDRAWEDit). Featured recently in the curated Tamagotchi exhibition at Nguyen Wahed Gallery in New York City, each piece in the series is a unique, hand-drawn artwork following a character’s struggle with the concept of digital care and dependency in an ever-lonely world.

Through intricate visuals, 'Mother' asks: Are we living in a Tamagotchi-like existence, where our roles as caretakers and dependents blur? As we become absorbed in our screens, we risk becoming invisible—losing parts of ourselves to our devices. The series invites viewers to question who truly cares for whom in the digital age.

Goodwin's signature style -- introduced in the cult classic tezos 'Tezzardz' and 'Bedroom Nostalgia' series -- is evident in 'Mother', which blends cyberpunk aesthetics with nostalgic elements in a psychedelic, densely detailed composition.

Centered around an imaginary character surrounded by a chaotic mix of technology, fantasy objects, and an abstract world, 'Mother' weaves a tale around a once-common virtual pet fascination.

Drawing it's title from the age-old phrase "roll the bones," Rahul Iyer's Art Blocks Studio release -- 'Roll Some Bones' -- offers a playful exploration of chance and desire. The collection, being released on Oct. 31, is a dance of human creativity and machine execution, where the artist and machine engage in a game of algorithmic chance.

By manipulating a pseudorandom number generator, tweaking variables and embracing probability, the artist sets the stage for the machine to interpret the algorithm. The result is a rich interplay where each hash generated by code leads to hand-drawn, crayon-like textures blended with digitally native patterns and artifacts, celebrating the beauty of unpredictability in the creative process.

Influenced by Vera Molnár's explorations of order and chaos and “1% disorder” in algorithmic art, 'Roll Some Bones' questions the nature of authorship in human-machine collaborations and how the blockchain immortalizes the consequences of chance – one that includes happy accidents and unforeseen outcomes.

"The contrast of slightly messy, childlike crayon textures created with sophisticated and structured algorithms offers a familiar visual representation of human creation in algorithmic form while using Molnár’s concepts of disorder," says Iyer. "As the audience engages with the piece, they're drawn into a world where the joy of a simple game of chance meets the infinite possibilities of algorithmic art, encouraging reflection on the evolving nature of creativity in digital art on the blockchain."

The Junk Machine's resulting images are a glitchy, pink-washed entry into the world of advertising. Exploring our vices and material desires to show how we "sell", the glitches make it clear this isn't real, but how far is it from the truth?

Released in conjunction with a @galeriemet exhibition in Berlin, 'INTUIT' by Ukrainian generative artist Olga Fradina (@olgaf) opens on fx(hash) on Thurs., Oct. 24.

The series examines automated drawing, which emerged as a tool for Surrealists to free the mind from rational control, allowing unconscious images to surface on paper. Fradina reinterprets automatic drawing in the context of digital art by using generative algorithms to create unique and unpredictable forms that reflect "the flow of thoughts, their fragmentation, and their connection into a new, unexpected whole." During the generation process, Fradina incorporates elements of randomness to mimic the movement of the artist’s hand as it intuitively follows inner impulses.

Automatic drawing can serve as a way to slow down, immerse oneself in the stream of consciousness, and reach a meditative state where the focus shifts from the final outcome to the process of drawing or creating digital visualizations. In this approach, the artist relinquishes control and analysis, trusting her inner impulses and fostering a deeper connection with herself. In the digital realm, this practice takes on new forms through interaction with algorithms that reflect the continuity of movement and internal dialogue.

@humanbydesign's 'ASCIISHIFT8' delves into complex pixel-shifting algorithms, dynamically rendering the resulting patterns as ASCII characters in real-time on a canvas that adjusts seamlessly to any screen size. Each iteration starts by randomly generating 8 non-overlapping rectangles, each controlled by a unique rule selected from a set of 32, resulting in diverse pixel-shifting behaviors. Minting now on Highlight, 'Semiograph' is the third release by generative artist Paul Prudence in a series of artworks that explore the use of text and symbols as material from which to weave fabrics of encoded patterns. In this instance, letters and numbers have been excluded entirely in favor of a reduced character set of several Unicode symbols.

"The resulting patterns imply rubrics of ludic and cartographic references, encoded systems such as semaphore, simple graphical games and puzzles, the aesthetics of MS DOS's Defrag program, musical notation, sequencing and mapping systems, and ciphers and codes." - Paul Prudence

A new 1/1 series by generative artist David Seven is currently open to offers on Objkt.

OE ending today... 😎

Thanks to a post from @zombiedrool on Gallery, I discovered this wonderful 2021 mint by Leander Herzog that is still available on primary on Objkt. It deserves to be viewed live, as its animated and has audio. Needless to say, I happily added it to my collection. :-)
