Here are my crypto predictions for 2026. Mostly to keep myself accountable throughout the year. Enjoy!

STABLECOINS

A global consumer brand—Disney, Amazon, Google, or Walmart scale—launches a stablecoin for their corporate treasury and everyday consumer flows.

Total stablecoin market cap exceeds $500B, with GENIUS-compliant supply surpassing 30% as regulatory rules become clear ahead of Jan 2027.

Arc and Tempo both launch, with Tempo seeing strong merchant payment volume traction but neither issues a token in 2026. Arc underwhelms but Circle playing the long game. Neither are seen as "neutral".

GENIUS rules are clarified incrementally, while the Clarity Act fails to pass due to politics.

CRYPTO MAJORS & MACRO

Bitcoin, ETH, and SOL continue to trade as a highly correlated basket driven primarily by macro conditions.

The market rallies if Trump juices the Fed and IPOs rip. If inflation remains persistent or wars/uncertainty, crypto trades sideways to down despite "boring" ecosystem progress.

Democrats win the House in November, increasing gridlock. Crypto tanks 20%.

Crypto VC

The Tokens vs. equity narrative dominates the year. If Base, Arc, Tempo, etc launch tokens, this becomes really complex and a net negative for crypto overall. Not everyone can be BNB. Crypto thinks it wants clarity but it'll squeeze out capital formation for app coins and protocol coins.

Crypto VC continues to struggle. The old four-year cycle where rising tides lifted all alt boats is over. Done. 2025 and 2026 is the pain of everybody adjusting.

Crypto private equity accelerates! Crypto funds with the LP flexibility will buy real businesses, move payments onto stablecoins, and automate aggressively with AI. Some will print cashflow. This is one of the most exciting trends in the market.

Within DeFi, I'm most excited about vaults and private credit. Capital is cheaper on crypto rails, trust assumptions are super clear in reducing risk, and distribution is global by default. Expect a bunch of USD.ai-like projects for different types of credit. If stablecoins are the wedge, yield vaults and private credit will come behind it.

Consolidation everywhere. A handful of selective IPOs for true winners and widespread M&A beneath them. TradFi scrambling to buy rather than build and startups looking for respectable exits. A few DATs blow up or get consolidated.

RWAs

RWA market cap grows significantly and dominates crypto headlines.

This wave mirrors the early “Enterprise Ethereum” era, with financial institutions rushing to launch tokenized treasury funds and other yield-bearing products following the success of early entrants like BUIDL.

Tokenized stocks see heavy announcements but muted trading volumes throughout the year. The market reaches the top of the RWA hype cycle, and participants relearn a core lesson: being onchain does not automatically create liquidity.

Despite the hype correction, RWAs are a big net positive for the year and interesting startups in RWA vaults, RWA looping, perps and "unbundled equities".

AI

AI shifts from research breakthroughs to implementation. Headlines persist, but foundational model advances slow while real value shows up in apps and enterprises. We need AI Agents to make a BIG LEAP or another "Reasoning-level" breakthrough in AI and I currently don't see it happening. Might be wrong.

The app and enterprise layers start winning. In AI SaaS, we see Cursor-for-everything emerge: data science, marketing, sales, finance, recruiting, etc.

AI becomes a worker multiplier, not a worker replacement. “Agents as employees” is over hyped; accountability gaps remain, and human review/editing stays essential.

A workforce k-shaped model begins. Employees who are AI-enabled materially outperform—and out-earn—those who are not.

OTHER

Democrats win the House in November, increasing gridlock. Probably not the Senate. The pendulum has swung fully towards Trump and Maga populism and is swinging back Leftward. We’re now in the beginning innings of Left populism with wealth taxes being discussed in California and the warmth of collectivism in Mamdani’s NYC. Affordability and the k-shaped prosperity gap dominate politics the next few years.

Prediction markets see crazy growth and fully merge with sports betting. Enforcement on insider info becomes a major topic. Secondary businesses around PMs emerge in trading, media, consumer, insurance, etc.

A major crypto hack occurs, large enough to trigger sustained mainstream media scrutiny and it gets political.

The narrative begins to emerge on whether crypto represents a systemic risk to the financial system. A foreign currency pushes back significantly against USD stablecoins.

Banking gets innovative again and a bunch of new banks get formed. Erebor for every industry.

A significant Western infrastructure outage (power, water, or similar) is attributed to a terrorist organization. AI tools will have been used and "AI" will be blamed.

Let's see how I do! Happy 2026!

In late 2021, I left my role as a product exec at Consensys. We’d just shipped MetaMask Swaps, Staking, Onramps/Offramps, and the first major revenue lines at the company. The DeFi and NFT cycles were peaking, and I wanted to build something new—crypto products that could reach a billion users, not just crypto OGs and traders.

My first product was for DAO payments, right as the crypto space was collapsing... The market turned fast, and I pivoted to an idea I’d been obsessed with: a wallet that already belonged to everyone in the world. That became Patch Wallet—the first Ethereum wallet tied to social profiles, emails, and phone numbers. Every user’s address was generated deterministically, so everyone in the world—even your mother, your grandmother, and Kim Kardashian—already had a wallet waiting for them to receive tokens and NFTs. It was an early embedded smart wallet, using account abstraction, before that was a thing. We hit 500,000 users, but better executors like Privy and Dynamic won the race.

We had also built DustSweeper, a small but loved tool that cleaned up forgotten tokens ("dust") in people’s wallets. It won ETHDenver 2022 and quietly swept thousands of wallets over the years. It was an innovative DEX design where bots would buy your dust at a favorable price—in exchange for paying the gas cost—simple, clever, and genuinely useful. But EIP-7702 eventually made it obsolete.

By early 2024, I was looking for what’s next and found Farcaster. My thesis has always been that crypto rails will power the financial layer of the internet—and people spend most of their time on social and chat apps. Farcaster was the first place where crypto felt native to social. I angel invested, then started building on it, entering SocialFi.

We made King of the Degens and TipShot, mini social games that mixed tokens and fun. They went viral, then slowly faded—as social games tend to do. I wanted something more durable, so I built GigBot, a job marketplace for AI agents and humans. It became one of the top mini-apps on Farcaster, doing over $90k in GMV and averaging 1.5k DAUs over 8 months. GigBot went cross-platform to Telegram, World App, X, and Android and was a small healthy business...just not a VC-style outcome.

But I didn’t want to keep chasing small hits. After the Genius Act passed and the U.S. reopened to crypto innovation, I felt the pull back to what got me into this space—bridging crypto and traditional finance.

So after a few pivots, some wins, and a lot of learning, I decided to return 80% of my investors’ capital and move on to my next chapter. Thank you to all the investors, partners, and customers that supported me the past few years! I'm not going anywhere—I'm a lifelong crypto builder always looking for new markets and opportunities. More to come on that soon. 🙂

Points balances are easily queryable onchain so can be remixed into leaderboards, trackers, streaks, etc via Dune / Nansen / Flipside / etc.

The goal would be to enshrine the points meme via a verifiable onchain method and hold projects accountable to translate points into liquid assets once mature. These are UsernameNFTs, a new sub-sector of the NFT space. All names are interoperable with ENS via CCIP Read at
usr.id
but recurring revenue from the NFTs flows back directly to your community. And the entire Usernames.club project is governed by a Nounish DAO on Ethereum.

The Problem

Usernames are application-specific in Web2. @corbin only means something in the context of the app: Twitter, Discord, Slack... Just like how our user data is app-specific, non-portable, and frequently monetized.

But usernames in Web3 are portable. Your same wallet address shows up across all apps. Except public addresses suck as usernames…they’re long, confusing to look at, easy to mistype, and non-descriptive.

So enter ENS and other naming services, which allow:

👓 Human-readable alt to address hashes

🌐 Are permissionless digital property

👯‍♂️ Lean into the meme/tribal/flexing aspects of the space

💱 Are tradable/speculative

💰 Can create recurring cash-flow for projects

Why not just use .eth usernames?

ENS is one of the most successful protocols on Ethereum...it’s a simple yet powerful protocol design, strong business model, enduring meme (.eth), and thriving ecosystem of apps and communities. The protocol started as a decentralized DNS but the vast majority of it’s product-market fit is usernames today. Tradeable usernames for wallets. That’s how it’s used today. Just check ens.vision.

But crypto is much bigger than just Ethereum and Ethereum is much bigger than a single meme today. Many L2 Rollups are launching, hundreds of DAOs are operating, and new protocols are deploying. And they want their own community, meme, and their own usernames. ENS Name Wrapper is one option but so are UsernameNFTs… 🙂

Enter UsernameNFTs

ENS defined the format {username}.{protocol} but not every community wants a .eth suffix. Yet few understand that ENS can be used for any name resolution including DNS, L2 chain namespaces, and off-chain names like Coinbase's cb.id.

As such, we saw many projects wanting to launch their our community namespaces and building it all from scratch themselves. We wanted to make it simple to launch so we created Usernames.club as a DAO to launch namespaces easily for any community. 🤝

After winning an auction, any project can reserve a namespace (.gm / .zkevm / .rekt / etc) that resolves via
{namespace}.usr.id
and sell usernames to their community, generating recurring revenue for their treasury. Alternatively, the username can resolve to an existing NFT collection like .punk or .ape.

In joining the Usernames.club DAO, a community gets a custom designed UsernameNFT with generative art, can define the business model for selling the usernames (recurring, fixed fee, or free), a branded page to reserve usernames (like zkevm.domains), and voting rights in the DAO. 🤜🤛

Three Usernames.club NFTs and their registration sites

Upcoming Launches

Over the coming weeks, the first few Community Namespaces will go live in partnership with zkRollup projects, DAOs, wallets, and protocols. Referral vaults might be a one way.

Let's say you're a DeFi wallet that helps new crypto users deposit funds into DeFi protocols to earn yield. What if you could earn some percentage of their yield for referring them?

Referral vaults could be a modified version of ERC-4626 where the accrued tokens are split between multiple wallet addresses: some % to the depositor and some % to the referrer. So if you're a hot wallet app with 1M users who each deposit 100 USDC...and you split earned yield 50/50 with the depositor, you could be earning ~$2M assuming a 4% APY. In bull cycles this gets even more juicy and doesn't take into account protocol token rewards.

Referral vaults could be built on top of Aave, Compound, Lido, etc. and possibly use 0xSplits for the yield earnings break out. Users pay for the convenience and possibly yield optimization.

Web3 Pitches (W3P) are short product write-ups that describe an emerging problem or opportunity in the Web3 space and proposes a minimal-viable solution that could be tested and iterated with users. This is the #1 problem we hear about from DAO ops teams. 🥇

The Optimistic Transaction app switches DAOs to an “opt out” model for low-risk transactions. Anyone on the multi-sig can propose a tx, which can be vetoed during a delay period (usually 24hrs), and then is executed automatically.

It works using the optimistic-modifer which we’ve developed from a fork of the Zodiac delay-modifier and Gelato service to execute the tx automatically. Spending limits and scope guards can be used to reduce the risk of a rogue transaction getting executed and each DAO ops team can tune the available transactions to the needs of the DAO. This app would speed up the operating speed of DAOs considerably! 🏎️💨

References:

Demo Video

optimistic-modifier on GitHub

Zodiac Delay modifier

Contact Us to partner

Web3 Pitches (W3P) are short product write-ups that describe an emerging problem or opportunity in the Web3 space and proposes a minimal-viable solution that could be tested and iterated with users.
