Henley & Partners released a Crypto Wealth Report 2025, projecting that there were around 145,100 Bitcoin Millionaires (people holding at least $1 million worth of Bitcoin) globally by mid-2025. This represents a remarkable 70% increase in the number of Bitcoin Millionaires in 2025 compared to the previous year, and highlights the speed at which Bitcoin wealth is being created.

Bitcoin represents roughly 60% of all cryptocurrency millionaire accounts, which also shows how Bitcoin has led to the majority of crypto wealth.

The overall global total of cryptocurrency millionaires, with all types of digital assets, is approximately 241,700, projecting an increase of about 40% compared to the previous year due to the growth of the digital asset market.

Why Are Bitcoin Millionaires Growing In Numbers?

The number of Bitcoin millionaires since 2008 shows how volatile and opportunity-driven the Bitcoin millionaire market has been throughout history. The first Henley & Partners' comprehensive report (2023) showed that as of 2020, the number of Bitcoin millionaires globally was roughly 40,500. In 2021, the number of Bitcoin millionaires had more than doubled to about 85,400 due to the rise in crypto prices and increased interest in digital assets. By 2022, fueled by expanded market gains and institutional involvement, the total number of Bitcoin millionaires had increased again to 145,100.

These significant increases in the total count of BTC millionaires emphasize the effect of awards and performance of markets on the overall number of Bitcoin millionaires, particularly with regard to the price direction of Bitcoin and the impact of new financial instruments on wealth development within the digital asset class.

Bitcoin Wealth & Crypto Wealth 

Within the cryptocurrency universe, the creation of wealth from cryptocurrencies has been, by far, driven by Bitcoin. In fact, it has been estimated globally that approximately 60% of all crypto-millionaires are primarily Bitcoin millionaires, while the remaining 40% are diversified into additional digital assets such as Ethereum, Binance Coin, and many more altcoins that are coming to market.

The count of both crypto centi-millionaires (a net worth of $100 million or more) and crypto billionaires continues to drop, but there are still several thousand active participants within the crypto elite with net worths in excess of $1 million, $10 million, and $1 billion. In mid-2025, there were approximately 450 crypto centi-millionaires and approximately 36 crypto billionaires worldwide, with a small percentage of that wealth directly attributed to Bitcoin.

In examining wealth distribution in cryptocurrencies, one can see that the upper part of the distribution has a significant concentration of wealth. It is true that many crypto millionaires may become super-rich due to Bitcoin. However, it is also true that only a select few of the elite within crypto will have the opportunity to reach billionaire status because of this.

Bitcoin Wealth Rarity in a Global Perspective

Even if we track tens of thousands of Bitcoin millionaires, this group represents a minuscule portion of the world's population. For instance, with an estimated world population of 8 billion, Bitcoin millionaires are about 0.0018%.

In contrast, using global wealth statistics for all forms of wealth, there are estimated to be approximately 56 million millionaires throughout the world, making Bitcoin millionaires a small piece of the larger pie in terms of wealth holders globally, but quickly growing. Bitcoin's scarcity (since only 21 million will ever be produced) and the wealth concentration among holders demonstrate Bitcoin's rarity.
