Gno.land is an interoperable concurrent smart contract platform based on Gnolang language (a new language developed by Jae Kwon, the founder of Cosmos, based on Golang) and is an IBC-compatible L1 layer.

Developers can build their own application chains or other projects on Gnoland, such as wallet - Adena Wallet, dex - Gnoswap, multi-chain dapp - -teritori, etc.

Second, the project background

1、Personal opinion.

**(1) Cosmos Hub function should be single and simple. **juno may be that counter-example, but the growth of osmo and terra seems to indicate that users like the omnipotent hub design (the fall of terra or not related to functional design), leading to cosmos Hub trying to enable CosmWasm, although rich in controversy, Prop 69 has been rejected (cited reading: further explanation about Prop 69).

(2) A single token model where Atom is both a governance token and a gas token in one is not conducive to network security, and price increases can lead to high gas costs.

(3) Mainstream public chains such as ETH are single-threaded, Solana's multi-threaded is frequently down, and Terra users are overly dependent on ust's empowerment, all of which need more efficient multi-threaded contract platforms to improve.

Gnoland, as the next platform-level project, is designed to address exactly these issues.

(1) The Gnolang language inherited from Golang, and the Goroutines integrated within the go language are better than Solidity and Rust for multi-threaded optimization and execution efficiency.

(2) Dual token model: $GNOT is the gas token and $GNOSH is the governance token.

1. Founding team: Jae Kwon (@jaekwon), founder of cosmos and tendermint (renamed Ignite in February 2022.) In May 2022, Ignite was spun off into two separate entities, Ignite Inc. and NewTendermint Inc. The former, Ignite Inc. continues to develop cosmos Hub related products, while the latter, with JK as CEO, develops Gnoland, the Tendermint2 project and the Cosmos SDK.

Other core team members are not publicly available at this time.

1. Financing: No public financing, current project expenses come from NewTendermint and JK's own funds. (The code contribution rewards on git are even repeatedly emphasized as JK's own atom distribution)

4、Partners: Although JK has left AIB (All in Bits, cosmos parent company), AIB stated that it will support the development and promotion of Gnoland. Other partners are not announced.

III. Token Economics

The following information is subject to change as the white paper has not been published. (Updated: 2022/8/25)

(1) Fee token $GNOT.

Total volume $1 billion

Token usage: 75% airdrop to $Atom holders; 10% to New Tendermint Inc. and JK; 10% to Core Mission DAO (project ecology management); 5% to early Github and economic contributors, of which 10,000 to test network test1 and 100,000 to test network test2; 2 million to faucet0 and faucet1 participants.

(2) Governance Token $GNOSH

$GNOSH will be distributed to people who participate and contribute to GNOLAND in any way, be it coding, translating, writing articles, testing new features, art, lawyers, hardware designers or sharing ideas, knowledge and talent of any kind.

$GNOSH will be used to vote on GnoLand proposals, such as changes to the code.

Holders of $GNOSH may also receive a portion of the chain's total revenue.

IV. Status of Airdrop ($GNOT)

May 19th has been open to atom pledgers/holders snapshot. Temporarily unavailable for collection.

Known airdrop rules include: (1) voting YES on Prop 69 will be almost equal to no airdrop; NWV is slightly better than NO and Abstain is better than no vote; (2) there is a difference in weighting between pledgees and holders; (3) a proxy not voting inherits the validator's vote.

The secondary snapshot, whale top, LP snapshot, etc. that have been circulating around have not been officially confirmed.

V. Competitors

Gnoland, as a project benchmarked against ETH, has competitors, i.e. all L1 layers. In the increasingly crowded public chain circuit, there are not only the "born to be proud" ETH and a lot of L2 layer advocates, but also BSC, SOL and other financial "money" chains, and poly, avax, Polkadot are also working non-stop to enlist developers. The unique advantages of Gnoland may come from the following

(1) The proven Cosmos core underlying framework: Whether Cosmos will be the "optimal solution" for the interconnection of all chains, but at least it has been steadily advancing in the public chain track, Gnoland's starting point is quite high.

(2) IBC's good support and compatibility with cross-chain: IBC's operation is silky smooth, who knows who uses it.

(3) gnolang language's optimization of multi-threading and speed: goroutine is probably the lightest and lowest cost multi-threading solution so far.

(4) Protection of smart contract security by lightweight Hub: Cosmwasm seems to be the solution with faster iteration and lower coupling with HUB underlay, but it is undeniable that the complexity of Cosmwasm itself is underestimated. A highly overlooked aspect of community-based governance is that end-users are overly optimistic about the implementation of features and fail to perceive the risks behind smart contracts - we still remember the several downtimes of juno after the launch, and although there was no loss of property, the previous experience will make the security of lightweight HUBs get more attention.

(5) Dual token model: Different interpretations of $ATOM's infinite incremental model exist, JK launched dual tokens in Gnoland as expected, and $GNOSH as governance tokens will be allocated based on contribution, thus achieving good decentralized governance, and community domination can ensure project development in line with the community members' vision of a real construction project.

The possible disadvantages are.

(1) There may be a bunch of investors who will immediately sign the check if JK asks, but JK still wants Gnoland to be community-led and is not expected to bring in any vc capital in the short term.

The absence of capital intervention cannot be considered a disadvantage of a project, but it is predictable that the user volume and ecology, in the short term, can only rely on word of mouth and the natural fermentation of the product.

(2) Although gnolang is built on the basis of go language which has been launched for 13 years, the application of gnolang as a new language in the public chain still needs to be fully verified by the market and developers.

VI. Product Roadmap

Phase I (completion) The goal of this phase is to create the first Gnoland test network, test1.gno.land, which contains the first domain and user interaction. This test net was hosted on a single node, which is now deprecated.

Phase 2 (wip) The second phase of this project includes the first $GNOT distribution and a new token unit: ugnot. It also aims to bootstrap the ecosystem, in particular by (1) improving the /r/boards domain, using features such as paging or edit buttons to make it easier for the community to communicate on-chain. This phase also includes, for example, the creation of new boards for bounties and animating them. (2) Create good documentation for developers and users Phase 3 (future) Launch a new test network test3.gno.land, which contains an active set of validators. This means a lot of technical and governance decisions that will be communicated more in the future.

Long term In the long term, a Core Mission DAO will be launched to manage the gno.land domain and coordinate validators and developers.
