Their goal is to continue growing the community and bring all of you curated inspiration, resources, jobs and so much more. Deskheads aligns with this vision and we think our partnership will get us closer to achieving that.

What is Deskheads?

We are a web3 native brand, that launched a year ago with the purpose of “leading the 9 to 5 revolution” and pushing the boundaries of what’s achievable in a tight-knit internet community. Same as DesignFeed, our mission is to empower creatives to go after their dream of becoming independent.

UIUX Challenge #1 — $200 Prize

You design. Many thanks to the core deskheads holders that helped push the project to everyone in their circle. Unfortunately, the project never saw any traction beyond the free mint window, and the secondary volume at the moment of writing, totals a whopping 0.0746 ETH 😂

The 33%

We reserved 333 supply for Deskheads holders. There’s a lot to cover in this blog post; Let’s jump straight in!

Fresh look. Fresh mind.

We refreshed the branding so it feels more coagulated and aligned with our vision. At the beginning of the year, we decided to put Christoph (the artist behind Deskheads) in the driver's seat. Moving forward we're trying our best to create enough compound value for our holders to make it worth the “mint price” while also sticking to our published roadmap. To put it in simple lines, I, Andrei, will be focusing on the software side and Christoph on the art side.

New website here → deskheads.co

Our first software product

We opened the waitlist for Selfbase — a dynamic personal page builder that keeps up with your content. We want this project to reach beyond the web3 space (which it already did by looking at the people who showed interest in the product) and generate enough revenue to keep us invested in the project. Many of you asked how Deskheads holders benefit from this. Well, as we promised holders will have front-row access to the app, and after we enter v.1 of the product, we will drop a limited supply lifetime premium access key.

Join the waitlist here → selfbase.app

$2000 grant for indie-hackers

The ideal outcome would be to support small tools that would benefit the entire space. Something that would make our community proud. If you are a designer make you can make a design system in Figma. Sell it on Gumroad, but give all Deskheads holders free access. If you are a dev, maybe you can make a tool that tracks shady trading activity for newer projects. If you wanna build something but don't have an idea, join the discord and let's brainstorm together!

The grant will open on April 10th (next week on Monday) and you’ll be able to submit your idea in the Workspace!

Levels, Secret Drop, and Community

We are changing the max level to 7. If you Minted&Staked you should already have the max level achieved. As you know, levels are printed in the tokens metadata, which means the level is preserved in case of unstaking or a change in owners. Future perks will still require certain levels to unlock, so if you don't have a max level yet, you might wanna max out your Deskheads to make sure you are able to unlock everything we might put in the Workspace.

As you are aware, the NFT space in general has lost a major % of the engagement over this bear market and Deskheads is no exception. However, our commitment to the initial vision has remained unchanged. We want to deliver the roadmap but to make an impact we need to see who's riding alongside us. This new drop can be seen as a way to filter the inactive holders and create a core community that can help us reach new highs. The supply is 999 but we're open to lowering the number if enough holders agree.

Pilot banner for Twitter

WEB3 WAKEUP Morning Show

Melz and I had this in the works for a while and we’re finally happy to bring you alongside @TaeKwonKrypto our co-host, a recurrent live show on Twitter Spaces.

gm deskfrens!

Over the past few weeks, the silence around Deskheads was, for many, very worrying. Due to uncertainty on every level, I took the necessary time to understand the flow and direction of the space. The old way of providing value for holders is no longer viable.

When we started to work on Deskheads, every shitty project was minting out. Almost every second collection had volume and if you kept providing wl spots for holders as "utility" — everyone was happy. Well, that's not the case anymore.

You can no longer excite people with fashion brands, tokens, or staking. The space has matured a lot.

At Deskheads, we don't have the funds to fail. That being said, I strategized and revamped the roadmap so we don't spread ourselves too thin among multiple verticals.

We aim to achieve two things: 1. Become a relevant brand in the web3 space by contributing with usable products and fun experiences. 2. Nourish a vibrant community with people that want to learn, work, or be entertained.

Studio v.0.1

The studio will open in themed batches with a timed window. Picking the theme of the batches allows us to set ourselves up for success by simply following & improving the current trends/meta of the space. You'll be able to submit and vote on ideas/projects as long as the batch window is open. After the window closes, the most voted project/idea will get a special discord category with updates channel, holders chat and team chat.

Studio redesign.

Members Directory

Planned from the beginning, this feature jumped on our to-do list again thanks to our discord member, Roozak. The idea is simple, a place where members can easily connect and potentially work together.

Members directory prototype.

WaaS or Workspace as a Service.

This is a proof of concept, but basically, using the lessons we’ve learned while building our proprietary staking feature and dashboard we’ll start to develop a service for other projects to use. This will potentially ensure revenue for the Deskheads team, to keep the lights on.

Whitelabel solution

We've seen NFT projects use products like Whop to provide value for holders like WL spots for upcoming releases. While the product itself is good, the experience lacks brand identity.

Before launching Deskheads, we asked our community what excited them about the project, and the majority said the Workspace -- a modular utility hub with a staking feature that incentivizes them to stake in order to get rewards.

Many projects like Moonbirds or TastyBones have great utility hubs that members love to use. A place where we all come together to work, cry, and sometimes have panic attacks. The place where you spend your day wondering what the hell you are doing there. So, our revolution needed something to fight that. A place that redefines what an office means and how fun it can be indeed to gather around a vision, a mission meant to redefine all conventional thinking around work and making money.

Introducing the workspace, a workspace where “work” isn’t about work at all. Where work means having fun and earning really cool rewards. Sounds pretty cool, doesn’t it?!

But…how is that even possible, you may ask?!

Well, we took a spin on a well-known practice in the space – Staking. We call ours, Stake & level up.

Stake and level up UX flow prototype.

On-chain stake & level up mechanism.

So, this is where it all starts. At mint, you will have a choice, either mint or mint & stake. Staking your Deskhead will ensure you access to our Workspace. Our staking mechanism contains a novelty which is; instead of giving you tokens for staking, we are counting the staked time on-chain. This means, your NFT retains its cumulative staking level, even when transferred or unstaked. Let’s get a bit more technical here. Basically, our contract keeps track of Current Stacking Time and Cumulative Staking Time. The current staking time resets every time the NFT is unstaked. The cumulative staking time stays the same. So, if you stake your NFT for 10 days, then unstake and sell it, when the new buyer stakes it, the cumulative staking time will continue counting from 10 days. This way, your NFT never loses its value.

The utility behind your staked NFT is found in the workspace.

The utility for staking your NFT is to be able to claim rewards on the workspace. Each reward will require a different cumulative or current staking level. More valuable perks & rewards will require more cumulative staking, making your NFT more valuable if you decide to sell it instead of claiming. Our workspace will contain different perks & rewards; anything from web2/we3 software subscriptions, physical products, free merch, NFTs…. We also welcome your suggestions and will make sure to vary and always come up with the coolest perks for you!

<img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/papyrus_images/c83c773b0122497e98878ce2d809db00a1e0d3d651fe34401a3a70f9d0cf90ef.gif" alt="Claiming mechanisms UX prototype. FCFS – First come first served

Click to claim. This will mainly be for higher supply drops as well as for some of the higher level drops. After you claim, you will receive all the information regarding your reward. The faster you are, the more chances you have to earn that reward before anyone else!

2. Raffle system

In our raffle system, 1 deskhead = 1 entry (at the requested level). So, the more Deskhead NFTs you have, the more entries you get, meaning the more chances of winning. Each raffle will be time sensitive with one or several winners picked, depending on the drops!

Our workspace will be closely tied to our studio as well. You will only be able to submit & pitch your ideas if you hold an NFT staked to a certain level. The higher your level, the more you will be able to claim certain benefits such as grant extension for example.

Every bit of our utilities are interlinked. We aim to provide you with a well-rounded and all-encompassing user experience. We want you to have fun and enjoy every bit of the Deskheads world!

The 9-5 revolution starts here and now.

In 1968, Pierre Bearn, a french writer, came up with an expression that became the definition of the modern-day human. “Metro, boulot, dodo” (Subway, work, sleep), a nihilist view of humanity who lives to work. Originally meant to define factory workers, we grew into a world where factories have been replaced by offices and we are still those workers. The digital revolution took over but is it really a revolution for us? Most of us are still here. Work every day, go to the office, eat, sleep, repeat. Is that really the life you’ve dreamed for yourself as a kid? Most of us just want to play, but we’ve been taught that’s not the way. Why not? “It’s not responsible” “Playing doesn’t pay the bills” “You should act like a grown-up.” Oh, but why? Is it because they said so, that we have to? F*ck that.

Life is a playground, we live to play and get life to pay us for it.

Aren’t you tired of your 9 to 5? Us too. That dull routine. No spark. No light. Tired. Sick of waking up every day at the same time, coffee, work, lunch, work, coffee, work, drinks, dinner, and sleep. Metro, boulot, dodo. F*ck. But oh well, what to do? Still gotta pay those bills. No time freedom. No freedom at all. What’s fun?

Life has been like this for many of us, for so long. For too long. That conditioning of not wanting to want what you want. That conditioning of not being able to go after what you want. Life is nothing but a big playground. Life is nothing but a big playground. Sounds absurd? Irrational? Irresponsible? – why is that so? Dreams are buried as we grow up. Ambitions are taken away by responsibilities. Gotta be careful, gotta be comfortable.

Hell to that. We are here to change that.

We are for the hopeless dreamers. Those who still believe that changing their life is possible. Those who believe in the magic of web3. We empower independent creators. Worldbuilders. Innovators. Artists. Entrepreneurs. We enable dreams and feed purpose. We make ambitions a reality. Our art is made to inspire and the utility behind it is made to ground your dreams into this reality.

We are Deskheads, nice to meet you.

Deskheads are cute humanoid-like beings set in a dystopic representation of the modern human.

Modern human (noun) Homo sapiens turned homo economicus, but barely. Pessimistic and cynical. Stuck behind a desk. Works from 9 to 5. Has lots of responsibilities to attend to. Barely have fun anymore.

Oh well…Who said working behind a desk can’t be fun? Maybe you did at some point, but now, we are telling you otherwise! Different settings. Cool desks. Lots of colors to bring more life to life. Vibey animations. The modern humans redesigned!

The story

Set in a dystopian present, Deskheads have been created by a bunch of humans around the world in hope to hack their way out of their desks and into the wonders of real life.

Tired of their 9 to 5, magic internet money felt like the key to humanity’s freedom and end of suffering. And so, humans put Deskheads to work.

At first, everything was running smoothly. Deskheads were hard to work, obedient, disciplined, and quite productive! Working from their cubicles, barely taking any breaks, 168 hours a week, 24h a day. No paid leaves! 9 to 5 re-worked into 9 to always. The dream!

But…a dream can never remain a dream unless you stay asleep forever. Of course, there had to be a problem. A virus perhaps? Sleeping beauty quite literally got slapped in the face with this one. A VIRUS?!

A virus that triggered a chain reaction among the Deskheads it seems. Someone is trying to hack the hackers? A rebellion is on the horizon, and a fight for freedom is about to take place. Who’s behind all of this? Who’s taking over? That might just be the cycle of life! Rumour has it, Deskheads are looking for an upload. Will they find it?

So what do you say? Are you ready to play?

If yes, you should join us.

Twitter @deskheads
