Scammers and devs can use fake accounts.

If you see a dev’s X account for the first time, check their profile: review past shilled projects, roles as mod/admin/participant. If they’ve never posted before, their token is likely a dud.*

Ignoring dates. Old news or outdated narratives from days/weeks ago can be quickly forgotten — always verify dates.

No growth catalysts. If a coin lacks fresh news, catalysts, or growth expectations, there’s little reason to enter.

Buying at highs. This can work with strong narratives, but if you’re new to DEX markets (<6 months), it often backfires, especially with low Solana volumes. Always wait for a -50% to -90% correction from ATH before deciding to enter (ideally at a reversal with counter-buying).

Regarding the last point:* If the narrative seems genuinely strong, the token may not correct by -70% to -90%. In such cases, build a position at -40% to -50% from ATH with a -30% stop-loss to limit losses if the trend shifts unexpectedly, compared to entering at -70% to -90% from ATH.*

👉 Guide to Reading Narratives

Chart Analysis

Filter out scam charts and select legitimate ones (we’ll cover how to identify scam vs. non-scam later).

Check bubble maps (30%+ bundlers is a red flag). The community should believe in the project, not bury it. without significant sales or corrections is unnatural for a live token.

In the first 10–20 seconds of a token’s life, continuous growth with no red candles.

If a newly launched token skyrockets to $200–300K+ MC and trades in a tight range, it’s a premeditated bundled scam.

On 1-second or 1-minute timeframes, a chart resembling a “comb” (each candle has identical wicks up and down) indicates bot-driven wash trading.

Sharp -70% to -90% dumps in a single 1-minute candle suggest a token designed to farm your liquidity.

After sharp dumps, sudden pauses, consolidation, or slight recoveries indicate bot trading.

Repetitive movements in a narrow range with consecutive green candles followed by consecutive red candles on a 1-second timeframe confirm 100% bot trading.

A pump to hundreds of thousands or millions in market cap followed by a fast or slow correction is a sign of a bundled scam.

Examples of Obvious Scam Charts to Avoid:
<figure float="none" data-type="figure" class="img-center" style="max-width: Look at:

Who posted it?

How many likes, reposts, views (over a million — excellent), what reactions in the comments? (Green flag — if it amuses people)

Did a real account post it or a fake? Where was the image used before? (Reverse image search) Are there memes/reels with this narrative?

Cross-check with the narrative.

Does this story/idea fit the current market trend, or is it a homemade meme from a platform that the DEX market audience (zoomers) is unlikely to appreciate?

Is this an OG coin or have there been similar ones? How many similar ones? (The more, the worse)

Check reach

Rapid growth in comments, likes, views — higher chance of a pump

If the info hook & story is old (more than 2–3 days) and there were tokens under the lore — the train has left

Good community activity on X (churning out 5–10+ messages per minute) — amplifies the pump Is the timing right for the coin?

Just in case, check (if coins were created under this narrative before) the creation time of previous coins in this narrative.

Are there differences in the creation time of the new coin vs. old ones, and how relevant is the narrative now (has it gotten stronger or weaker)?

Check honesty

Is the website real (does it have the CA), socials (were there renames on X, the most useful service for this — Frontrun) or is the coin just a dud?

Main Mistakes in Narrative-Based Trading

1) Buying Based on Past Experience

Buying solely because you spotted a famous dev or team on X whose previous coins all migrated and hit a million-dollar market cap, or because you saw your tracked wallets jumping into a token, without even figuring out if the narrative is relevant.

2) No Catalysts for Growth.

Trading purely on the narrative without seeing reasons why others might buy after you, or knowing what catalysts could drive its growth (influencers will pump it, the dev will pay for DEX listings and boosts, influencers will join and shill, might influencers write something about it, etc.).

3) Blind Trust.

Buying just because you liked the image, or you saw cool news but didn’t check the account’s authenticity. Always verify source credibility before trading decisions and block unreliable Twitter accounts (Axiom has this feature).

4) Buying at the Highs.

Wait for corrections instead of jumping in at the FOMO peak, thinking there won’t be a dump.

5) Ignoring Event Dates.

Don’t treat old info as a catalyst for constant token growth. For continued growth or even consolidation, tokens always need fresh catalysts that make people buy. Check the publication time of news and events that tokens are created under.

6) Not Tracking Narrative Activity.

You studied the narrative, scanned the ticker and contract on X, assessed the token’s community, bought, and then went to watch the chart without understanding what’s happening post-research in the community — who’s posting what about the token’s contract and ticker.

7) Not Monitoring Which Major Narratives Are Getting More Attention.

Before trading, check the highest-volume tokens over the last 24h and week (for example, open Axiom → Migrated tab → Audit: Age: up to 168h; $ Metrics: volume 200k$+, global fees paid: 10 SOL+).

Summing It Up…

In summary, all narratives are one big basket of diverse ideas, news, jokes, inventions, tossed into a room, from which stuff randomly emerges one by one — catalysts are what give the reason to create a token. Only together do they set the pump for any token.

During trading, don’t forget to track the highest-volume coins over the week, as they set the trend for other new coins with similar ideas:

Allocate 20–30 minutes to assess the local background.

Filter tokens by volume in Axiom and watch which new coins have launched.

For each, determine what narrative they’re pumping on and if the meta is credible. -

Check social media activity and do on-chain analysis for tokens that interest you. -

Mark support levels and wait for pullbacks to them, setting up a grid of orders with Alpha Orders, or wait for entry in consolidation.

The DEX market is filled with different coins that can appeal to different people. Stick to your strategy, monitor volumes, and find those with pump potential based on the characteristics listed above — and act! Woof!

The best terminal for memecoin trading:

https://t.me/alpha_web3_bot?start=ff14ed92

But then, when they see the profit, they fail to take it, and within minutes, it all turns to zero.

The second hurdle is fear, which every person — including DEX traders — experiences.

It makes you hesitate when it’s time to buy.

It pushes you to sell at a loss when someone in TG/X claims the token is a “scam.”

It forces you to exit too early, taking only 50% or 25% of a move, only for you to regret it later when the token blasts off.

These emotions affect everyone, even the most experienced degen traders, and not all can always manage them. Fighting them is futile; learning to control them (by setting stop losses, taking 50% at 2x, leaving 10% for the moon) is essential for survival.

More on that later.

FOMO: Hacking Logic, Haste, and the Fear of Missing Out

FOMO — the fear of missing out on any profit — strikes when you have 2x on a token, and you’re monitoring a TG chat or community where people spam every second: “100x soon, send it higher, ATH soon, one_million_next_floor.” Your brain forgets your planned exit point. You start thinking, “This is the gem that’ll moon — I won’t sell, I’ll wait for a $10M or $100M market cap and then cash out the bulk.”

This is a classic scenario that turns traders into prey. Fighting FOMO is pointless; it affects every trader, including top influencers like Cupsey, devs, insiders, and anyone else.

Where Does FOMO Come From?

There are plenty of triggers. Here are the main moments that used to spark FOMO in me:

You’re scrolling through X or reading a Telegram chat and see someone posting a 6- or 7-figure PNL for the month or from a single token.

You notice the project’s team hinting at an announcement or a massive marketing push in the chat, and people start buying.

You see someone snag 2–5x on a token and mention they’re holding for more.

You researched a token, found something off, and decided not to buy — only for it to pump 5–10x minutes later.

You watch a token rise after fully cashing out.

The price misses your limit buy by a couple of percent, and the token takes off — or the same with a sell.

You bought a token via a PVP (price versus price) swap, your pick rugs, while the other one gets influencer hype and moons.

You miss a 2x+ move while researching or getting distracted by personal stuff.

You re-research a token, checking its market cap every 5 minutes, waiting for at least one red flag to bail.

You jump into tokens without solid research just because an interesting influencer mentioned them or it’s a strong narrative.

You check the top traders in a token, think you’re as good as them, and buy in.

You miss the dip, panic-buy higher, hoping for a quick moon.

Killing FOMO is impossible, but you can learn to keep it on a leash, control it, and make calm trading decisions.

If you feel like you’re too late, won’t make it into a coin before it moons — don’t jump in. When I realized this, I still entered expecting a quick pump, but it never led to anything good.

Later, I started hiding tokens in my terminal, and that FOMO faded away:

GMGN & Axiom Hide Tokens

How Does FOMO Kill Risk Management?

It’s simple. When emotions overwhelm you, you forget to risk only 5–10% of your deposit; you skip checking team wallets that are dumping or transferring to fresh addresses; you start over-averaging heavily; and you stop noticing the red flags you once saw, falling “in love” with the asset. Then you’re left watching the token crash to the Mariana Trench — along with your nerves.

How to Work with FOMO?

FOMO is unbeatable, but it can be tamed by following your own rules or trading system. Here’s what you can do:

Create a research planSet a structured process for researching tokens. For example, start by opening the chart to assess volume and liquidity, then dig into social media, followed by checking the token’s safety via Alpha One and scanners, and only then decide on entry.

Don’t Trade When You’re Too EmotionalIf you’re overly excited, had a breakdown, have a headache, argued with someone, or feel an urge to trade — put it off, have some tea, and calm down.

Risk on DepositAlways calculate the risk percentage of your deposit you’re willing to allocate to one token — I personally limit it to no more than 10% per token. Even if it’s your dream token, never risk more than you can afford to lose.

Plan Your Exit from a TokenAlways plan where you’ll exit a token. A safe tip is to take 50% at 2x and leave the rest in the token. However, taking 25% or 90% at 2–3x is also fine, depending on the narrative. Also, pre-calculate the maximum drawdown at which you’ll exit at a loss — I set it at no more than 30–40% for new Solana pairs.

Leave a Moon BagIf you like the narrative and think the token will last more than a day or week, leave 10% of your position for the moon and don’t touch it.

The Market Is Full of Good TokensIf you miss a 5x-10x+ move on a coin, don’t despair. The market doesn’t care about anyone’s feelings.Always remember that the market is full of other coins launching, some of which can deliver even bigger gains.

Set Limits on Your DepositA useful tip from many foreign influencers: if you’re a beginner, determine and write down the maximum allowable drawdown for your trading deposit each day, after which you stop trading. This could be -10% or as high as -30%.

Think for YourselfStop blindly following calls on Telegram or X, copy-trading influencers who’ll eventually close out on you. Learn to build your own trading plan, act on it, and adjust it based on market changes.Be patient. The market punishes the impatient, taking their money and rewarding the patient.

Stay Updated on NarrativesDon’t trade coins that don’t align with current metas. Always research the latest narratives and their impact on the market.

Don’t Get Attached to Round PNLsDon’t fix positions only at round numbers. It’s common for a token to show +95% growth, and you wait for 100% to lock in the body, only for it to drop, leaving you with a loss. Ditch this mindset — you’ll thank yourself later. No chart is perfect, and no token moves or bounces exactly at set levels.

ExperimentOccasionally change your trading strategies, explore new tools for token research. Sometimes try entering a token with a small amount that you once considered risky or rug-like.Markets constantly evolve, as do chart behavior, project teams, and sometimes a suspicious token with odd metrics might be backed by a strong team capable of pumping it to the moon.

Memecoins Are About Play, Not StabilityMany who made life-changing money on memecoins and retired were former Fortnite players. Treat DEX trading not as a way to learn stable earnings, but as a game where the goal is to farm as much ETH or SOL as possible, then sell near their price peaks. Join the Alpha One chat or build your own team to become the best at it.View losses as part of the game, part of your journey — the experience you needed to go through.

The Main Mistake of Beginners

Many beginners, and even experienced traders, repeatedly make the same mistakes: believing in infinite growth, buying without a clear plan for selling, listening to others’ opinions instead of forming their own. Failing to accept the rules of the market — and of themselves — leads to the biggest losses imaginable.

However, the primary mistake for beginners isn’t even the loss — it’s when they enter the DEX market and succeed immediately. Many start thinking memecoin trading is easy, that the market owes them something, and that making money here is a breeze. They lose control over risk management and begin gambling recklessly. Ultimately, they lose everything.

This is where a key psychological moment comes in: you either accept that losses are part of the game; accept that chasing five rabbits means catching none; accept that cashing out fully at 3–4x and sleeping peacefully is better than waiting for 100x with a -90% drawdown — or you keep gambling, hoping to hit a gem, with a higher chance of losing it all.

Conclusion on FOMO: Friend or Foe?

FOMO is like a machine — how you drive it determines where it takes you. Let go of the wheel, and you’ll crash sooner or later. Hold it firmly and stay cautious, and FOMO becomes your best advisor, warning you about chart mishaps.

It always points out which narratives to watch, how active the market is, and what to prepare for next time.

Learning to manage FOMO means learning to play and profit in this market — not trying to eliminate emotions, but using them effectively.

You could say the entire foundation of this market rests on human psychology. The winner is the one who masters self-control and remains human, even when others scream, “one_million_coded; last_chance_to_buy,” and so on.

The best tool for trading memecoins is Alpha One (link).

In crypto, seconds matter. Especially when trading shitcoins, where a token can 5x in a couple of minutes — or crash to zero. When I started, I’d jump in on the hype: “Oh, the chart’s pumping — gotta buy!” Then came the moment of “enlightenment”: I can’t sell, fees are 40%, liquidity’s drained. Classic.

Over time, I realized: diving into a token without checking first is like playing roulette without betting on black or red. Especially on DEXs, where scams aren’t the exception — they’re the norm. So, I started building my own survival algorithm — a quick checklist I can run through in 1–2 minutes before entering a trade. Here’s my approach, which has saved me from dozens of bad trades — and hundreds of fried nerves.

Honeypot — The Biggest Red Flag

First thing I check: can I actually sell the token? A honeypot is the classic trap: you buy, but there’s no way out. The token is “locked” for selling.

To avoid traps, I use @HoneypotIsBot: I just paste the address, and the bot instantly gives the status. If it says “Low risk,” I move forward. If I’m unsure, I don’t even waste time.

Who Owns the Contract?

The next step is to check if the dev has renounced control. Because if the contract is still under their management, they can change fees, freeze sales, or even disable the token at any moment. Here,

@ttfbotbot

and

@PirbViewBot

help. But for the trade to happen, someone needs to hold the “opposite” side — the liquidity. Think of it like a currency exchange booth: if it’s empty, you can’t buy or sell.

Liquidity is the money the dev puts into the decentralized exchange to enable trading. The more liquidity, the easier it is to buy or sell at a fair price. Low liquidity means even a small trade can tank the price. If liquidity is low, you might buy a token at one price and sell it 30% lower just because there’s not enough volume.

A rug pull is when the dev pulls all the liquidity. To avoid this, I check if it’s locked and for how long.

Two scenarios:

— LP Locked: Good if it’s locked for over 6 months.

— LP Burned: Ideal — liquidity is burned, no one can touch it.

If liquidity isn’t locked or is locked for just a few days, I skip it immediately. I check this on Dexscreener:

The address 0x0000…dead on Ethereum is where all burned tokens go.

Or through TTF Bot:

Fees: How much are you actually losing?

It often happens: you buy, the token pumps 20%, but you’re still in the red. Well-known examples include Dogecoin and Pepe.

DEX (Decentralized Exchange): A platform where you trade directly from your wallet without registration or intermediaries. No logins, KYC, or centralized custodians. All trades are executed via smart contracts. Unlike CEX (centralized exchanges) like Binance or OKX, where tokens are held in the exchange’s account, DEX gives you full control over your assets.

$BUCK wasn’t a “magic button”: I simply followed a repeatable process with a few steps. I look for coins that have already surged, then dipped due to crowd fear, but are still being discussed online.

Below is the same algorithm: clear, step-by-step, with minimal jargon but real mechanics that work on the DEX market.

📌Step 1: Find a “Hyped but Dipped” Coin

Where to look for meme coins?
