With that being said, our voting system is live! Head to https://vote.bamboodao.io/#/ and connect your wallet that is holding your Bamboo. Note that using Snapshot is free—and it costs nothing for you to vote.

Once you have connected your wallet to join, you’ll want to navigate any open proposal you wish to vote on. Select where you would like to cast your vote and then hit vote. A menu will pop up and then hit vote again to confirm your vote.

Information on the voting system, the start time, the end time, and where the discussion on the vote is taking place can be found on the proposal page. Note: the next step will be to bring DAO discussions to a Discourse (work in progress), until that occurs we will use Telegram for discussion.

In our essence, BambooDAO is a community of builders, holders, wenweners, enjoyers, and friends that hold Bamboo (henceforth $BAM). As BambooDAO we collectively aim to see the best in the longevity of, the progress of, and the utility of $BAM in a variety of digital asset and blockchain-focused use cases. We encourage all types of builders to join us in creating socially good and innovative blockchain products.

• Collaboration: We believe all are inter-connected—digital assets, corporations, fiat, DAOs, et cetera. Therefore, we strive to utilize the most pragmatic approach to meeting our collective needs.

• Ethics and Compliance: We believe blockchain’s transparency can help usher in a new age of ethics. We embrace meeting regulatory requirements as well as advocacy that can positively shape public policy.

Why BambooDAO

BambooDAO is the implementation of community governance of the $BAM token. See BambooDAO as a way to further empower our community of builders, creatives, influencers, and friends.

Pink Panda Holdings, Inc. has effectively been a “steward” of $PinkPanda tokens in collaboration with the community up to this point. BambooDAO extends that collaboration by creating formalized and transparent governance around $BAM. This allows the community to have a much greater say in the direction of the token—from marketing, staking rewards, and utility developments to other possibilities not yet determined.

How will this work

Each $BAM holder has a right to membership in BambooDAO. With a large amount of existing $PinkPanda token holders, we’ll be taking a layered approach to building out this DAO, our membership, our voting capabilities, and other functionality commonly seen within a governance structure.

The first layer for us to implement is a gasless voting system to allow members to vote on matters relating to $BAM. There are many options to explore to best manage the BambooDAO voting experience. Solutions like Snapshot are highly common in the space paired with Discourse. Discourse allows for discussion on topics in a more structured environment than Discord—with better archiving of closed topics. Snapshot follows through with easy-to-use off-chain governance that can be trustlessly enacted on-chain with certain tools(see SafeSnap). We can continue to explore what tool(s) we’ll use for off-chain gasless voting and on-chain voting.

Some optional types of voting that Snapshot provides can be seen here and vote delegation can be seen here. At this point in time, and from research, it’s recommended that we implement a one-token one-vote system as well as utilize vote delegation. Here’s a good article that disagrees with a one-token one-vote system.

Seed Club and Alex Zhang in this podcast discussed the issue of participation in votes, specifically a lack of participation. In my experience, no one has a solution that works for every DAO, but each DAO must come up with what works for them and what they desire to accomplish. In the above podcast, they asked the question, “How do we make voting sexy?” Although there were no models involved in the suggestions, they did bounce around ideas that can help get attention on vote proposals. Ideas such as a reputation unlock for voting consistently, or other rewards that aren’t necessarily tied to a monetary value. They focused on rewards that had an emphasis on social value, so the feelings of patronage, going deeper down the rabbit hole, and affinity to the project are options when exploring value propositions. Ultimately, how do we lead from a place of fun?
