Public blockchains need to make breakthroughs in performance and scalability while ensuring a high degree of decentralization. Improving blockchain performance and scalability aims to provide users with a better and more accessible network experience, thereby attracting more users to participate in the network, further enhancing the network's decentralization.

DO is an established public blockchain. Since its inception in 2018, it has undergone long-term technical development and testnet operations. DO's mainnet went live in Q2 2021, followed by several mainnet and hard fork upgrades. Over the years, DO has accumulated more than 100,000 users and reached a peak FDV of $2 billion. After experiencing market cycles, DO has continued to adhere to its decentralization principles, maintain stable progress, and align with the development trends of the blockchain world, achieving new growth and accomplishments.

Key Features

Based on unique technique innovations, DO has built an effective and decentralized network with several key features:

Ultra-high Performance

Block time less than 0.1 second, TPS more than 1000

Extreme Low Gas

Use 1 dollar to complete more than 10,000 transactions

Easy Access To Join

2000 DO to run a node, 200 DO to stake and win APY

Innovative Technology

Wave value consensus with EVM-equivalent compatibility

Outstanding performance and high decentralization comes from technique innovations including the unique Wave Consensus, the Wave Value to evaluate the contribution of a node, DAG as data structure, and so on.

Token And Staking

The total supply of DO is 200 million, with the initial distribution as follows:

● DO Node Incentives: 55%, totaling 110 million, with 48% remaining.

● DO Initial Circulation: 35%, totaling 70 million.

● DO Operational Expenses: 5%, totaling 10 million.

● DO Ecosystem Foundation: 2.5%, totaling 5 million.

● DO Developer Community: 2.5%, totaling 5 million.

Currently, more than 50 million DO are staked, accounting for over 50% of the current circulation of approximately 100 million DO.

Since Bitcoin was born, 15 years have passed. During that period of time, a huge amount of public chains have come out. Some of them are still alive, and some of them once were well-known but now nobody cares about them. However, each of them has to make a choice: decentralization or performance?

The balance between decentralization and performance has always been a key problem for all public chains. Some of them choose to insist on high decentralization, and some of them try to enhance performance first. So what is DO’s choice?

DO Network is a highly decentralized, ultra-high-performance public blockchain. Through its unique Wave Consensus, DO Network delivers excellent TPS and gas experiences, while adhering to the principles of decentralization, offering an extremely low-barrier, convenient participation experience for both node construction and network involvement.

DO thinks that decentralization is always the most important. But that does not mean that we have to sacrifice performance. DO builds a high performance network, but based on high decentralization at first.

What kinds of decentralization do we need?

Device Decentralization

Device decentralization means more than just having blockchain network devices geographically distributed across different locations worldwide. It also implies that anyone can own and operate the devices required to run the blockchain network. If the requirements for running the network demand highly specialized or expensive equipment, many individuals would not meet the criteria, leaving only a few capable of running the network. This would not represent true decentralization.

Token Decentralization

Tokens are the carriers of value in a blockchain network and a core component of its ecosystem. Token decentralization refers to the widespread distribution of token ownership, ensuring that no single entity or individual can independently exert significant influence over the tokens.

Information Decentralization

To achieve decentralization at the information level, information must be open, clear, and effectively communicated. This includes providing ordinary users with straightforward ways to access and verify information, allowing independent developers with different perspectives to question and validate the system, and even enabling users to participate in technical activities without coding skills (e.g., no-code token issuance).

Structural Decentralization

This layer means that regardless of large-scale failures in hardware, nodes, users, or network spaces, the blockchain network should remain operational. While the likelihood of such extreme scenarios is very low, structural decentralization becomes highly significant for blockchains that are widely used by people across the globe. Though this aspect may not be apparent during normal operations, it could prove critical during extraordinary circumstances.

How DO offers both decentralization and performance?

DO is dedicated to building a blockchain network where everyone can participate, easily participate, and is willing to participate. DO believes that decentralization in technology is only one part of the equation, and reducing the barriers to user participation is also a crucial aspect of decentralization.

Based on this, DO has incorporated several key features in its network design to ensure that all users can participate conveniently:

● Ultra-high performanceBlock time is less than 0.1 seconds, with TPS exceeding 1000.

● Ultra-low gas fees$1 can complete over 10,000 transactions.

● Extremely low participation threshold2000 DO is enough to run a node, and 200 DO is enough to stake and earn rewards.

● Innovative technologyUnique Wave Consensus, which is EVM-compatible.

A public chain is the foundation of the blockchain world, serving as the long-term development cornerstone and guarantee for the blockchain industry. DO believes that the development of a public chain project requires a steadfast goal, with long-term construction and development centered around that goal. DO has always positioned “high decentralization” as the core of its development, adhering to the objective of “everyone can participate, everyone can easily participate, and everyone is willing to participate.” DO also hopes that the entire blockchain industry will flourish, ushering in the Web3 era for the digital world.

Due to the constraints of the "impossible triangle," the development of public blockchains is essentially a process of seeking a balance between decentralization, performance, and scalability, while achieving technical breakthroughs. In this context, the various public blockchains that have emerged today each have different positioning and directions.

DO, among them, has chosen a strategy rooted in decentralization. Through technique innovations like Wave Consensus, DAG and so on, based on this foundation, has achieved good performance and scalability. DO firmly believes that decentralization is the fundamental key to blockchain's ability to change the world.

Join and Contact us

If you are interested in DO and wanna build the blockchain world together with us, you can contact us to know more about us, joining the network or achieve business cooperation:

Official website:https://www.donetwork.io/#/pc/Index

Twitter:https://x.com/Donetwork_club

Discord:https://discord.gg/donetwork

Telegram:https://t.me/DoNetworkclub

To address this promptly, the developer community conducted a thorough investigation, identified the root causes, and implemented corresponding solutions. Within two weeks, five major updates were deployed to optimize network synchronization and on-chain transactions. This article outlines the reasons for transaction failures caused by block rollbacks, the measures we have taken, and our future optimization plans.

1.Causes of the Problem

Through our investigation, we identified the following root causes of contract transaction failures:

Network Node Synchronization Issues: Some network nodes failed to synchronize data promptly, preventing fast block generation and affecting transaction success rates.

Contract Transaction Processing Problems: Block rollback mechanisms caused failures during the execution of certain contract transactions.

Delays in Block Confirmation and Creation: The DO network’s unique block extension approach introduces an elastic redundancy interval, leading to instability in transaction confirmations.

2. Current Improvement Measures

To effectively address transaction failures, we implemented optimizations in three key areas:

2.1 Enhancing Network Node Synchronization Efficiency

Efficient node synchronization is essential for transaction success. Key measures include:

Fixing Node Synchronization Stoppage Issues: Resolved bugs causing node synchronization interruptions.

Expanding Broadcast Block Coverage: Increased the broadcast range to ensure more nodes receive new block information promptly.

Reducing Block Synchronization Intervals: Optimized synchronization intervals to allow nodes to complete block synchronization faster.

2.2 Optimizing the Contract Asset Transaction Process

In the DO network, contract asset transactions are EVM-compatible and support parallel execution across different nodes. To address block rollback-induced failures, we optimized the contract transaction flow as follows:

Adding Pre-UTXO Verification Mechanism: Ensured unspent transaction outputs (UTXO) are validated before sending transactions to prevent invalid operations.

Introducing Contract Transaction Packer Verification: Conducted multi-node data checks before transactions are recorded on-chain to ensure proper packaging.

Using Global Network Height for Transaction Creation: Ensured every transaction is based on the latest global block height to avoid failures caused by block delays.

2.3 Improving Block Creation and Confirmation Process

The DO network’s block structure supports multiple blocks at the same height in parallel extension with elastic redundancy. Key improvements include:

DAG Pruning Based on Block Hash: Fixed errors caused by contract dependency relationships during DAG pruning.

Global Network Height Reference Mechanism: Optimized block creation by referencing global height data, reducing transaction failures due to block delays.

Optimizing Block Confirmation: Ensured blocks are confirmed quickly upon generation to prevent rollback-related transaction issues.

3. Future Optimization Plans

To further enhance the stability and performance of the DO network, we have outlined the following plans:

3.1 Improving Node Performance and Incentives

Increasing Node Rewards: Expand the delegation cap to boost node rewards and incentivize better performance.

Optimizing Node Performance: Phase out underperforming nodes to maintain high network efficiency.

3.2 Enhancing Network Synchronization Efficiency

High-Frequency Transaction Optimization: Initiate high-frequency transactions in advance to keep nodes synchronized and minimize network delays.

Node Performance Evaluation via WaveValue: Utilize WaveValue metrics to evaluate node performance and automatically remove low-performing nodes.

3.3 Increasing User Participation

Adjusting Minimum Delegation Thresholds: Raise the minimum delegation threshold to reduce UTXO quantities during reward distribution and improve network efficiency.

4. Minor Hard Fork and Node Adjustments

To implement these optimizations, we plan to conduct a minor hard fork. During the fork:

All node and user delegation assets will temporarily return to their original addresses.

Nodes only need to adjust performance and bandwidth before re-staking to resume network participation.

Users must complete re-delegation to continue enjoying node incentive rewards.

This hard fork will enhance the stability and efficiency of the DO network, laying a solid foundation for its growing ecosystem applications. Please stay tuned for further announcements regarding the hard fork.

We believe that this minor hard fork and a series of optimization measures will enable the DO network to provide a more stable and faster transaction environment, further improving user experience.

Thank you for your continued support and trust in the DO network. The developer community remains committed to optimizing the network and fostering ecosystem growth. We look forward to witnessing the growth and success of the DO network with you!

Thank you for supporting DO!
