Instead, the revenue is distributed to the Resolvers and to community members who use their referral links to bring new users into the NNS ecosystem, while NNS itself will retain only a 5% protocol fee, which is used to support the ongoing development and expansion of the protocol.

This unique setup incentivizes more users and platforms to integrate NNS, creating a decentralized network where rewards flow back to those actively building and supporting the nounish ecosystem.

For the first time, platforms that resolve NNS names will earn continuous rewards simply by maintaining their support for the registry.

Imagine every app, site, and platform able to generate recurring revenue by integrating NNS, fostering a self-sustaining system for all.

The Role of Resolvers and Referrals

Resolvers are the engines powering NNS integrations – any app, website, or platform that actively supports NNS by implementing its names resolution becomes eligible to share in the revenue stream.

Meanwhile, community members who bring new users into the NNS ecosystem through referral links will receive a share of the revenue, making every interaction an opportunity to earn.

.nouns names and new CLDs: The Reservation System

One of the most exciting upgrades of the new NNS is the possibility for communities to create their own Community Level Domains, fully resolved across the NNS network from Day 1.

.nouns names will be the first CLD built on top of NNS protocol with revenue directly sent to NounsDAO Treasury.

One of the biggest challenges in the naming space is squatting – when users reserve names with no intention of using them. To uphold the integrity of .⌐◨-◨ domains and foster a fair ecosystem, NNS introduces a dedicated Reservation System.

This system prioritizes genuine users by offering a reservation period, helping ensure that names remain available to those who intend to use them meaningfully.

Special Reservations

To further protect and empower the community, special reservations are offered:

1. .⌐◨-◨ Holder Reservation: Every holder of a .⌐◨-◨ name who also owns a Noun NFT or holds $NOUNS tokens will have their corresponding .nouns name reserved for 30 days following launch. This period provides a buffer against squatting and ensures that members of the ecosystem have the opportunity to secure their .nouns identity.

2. Noun Holder Reservation: For Noun NFT holders, numbers from 0 to 9999 are automatically reserved. This means that if you own specific Noun NFTs—say Noun #69 or Noun #420—you’ll have exclusive access to claim names like 69.nouns and 420.nouns. Unlike other reservations, this allocation is permanent and can be claimed at any time, offering long-term flexibility and assurance for Noun holders.

With these protections in place, the Reservation System safeguards the value of .⌐◨-◨ domains while supporting community members in building meaningful, personalized identities within the Nouniverse and beyond.

$NOGS Integration: Uniting Rewards and Ecosystem Currency

All rewards distributed through NNS – to Resolvers, from Referrals, and more – will be paid out in $NOGS.

In just 2 weeks, we set an unprecedented number of achievements.

Now it’s time to move to the next phase.

Distribution and LP: Everything you need to know

Distribution

13.8B NOGS will be distributed to Party contributors with a ratio of 26,285,714 NOGS per ETH.

This set the NOGS market cap at around 7.5M.

NOGS will be distributed to contributors right after the launch of the LP.

Liquidity Pool overview

LP will be launched on Friday 19 April.

We can’t give an exact timeline cause all will depend by how fast we will be able to execute the proposals into the Party. However, we will update the community at every step of the process.

We will provide to the LP:

• 525 ETH raised from the Party

• 13.8B NOGS

Liquidity Pool lock

LP will be locked for 1 year using UNCX time lock contract.

Reasons behind this choice are pretty much the same that are stated in this article, but here are some highlights:

• We are confident NOGS will considerably grow during its first year.

  If this happens, overall liquidity will grow as well, bringing to the table many more and bigger LP participants and, hopefully, making the LP amount almost irrelevant and not necessary.

  If, and only if, this will happen, we will be able to allocate this amount to new strategic initiatives and to increase the rewards provided to the ecosystem.

  Last but not least, this flexibility will also allow us to follow and support the natural evolution of the NOGS infrastructure, maximising every single resource to the success of the project.

• If needed, we’ll simply renew the lock for another year.

  The goal is to reach a network big enough to make our LP value a minimal part of the total locked value.

  If after a 1 year period we realise we haven’t reach that point yet, then the LP will be locked for another year, and so on.

Some personal thoughts:

To be honest, burning the LP would have been the easiest choice. But I truly believe this approach will be incredibly important for the long term success of NOGS and I expect to see it more and more adopted by other projects in the future.

Liquidity Pool fees

Fees generated from the LP will be transferred to the Party and managed from there.

These fees will be used to boost NOGS adoption and unlock new use cases around it.

This can include:

• New developments by the team to lock NOGS and provide new utilities and use cases to holders

• Strategic partnerships

• NOGS integrations by other projects

• Listing on exchanges

• And more

We decided to try to manage the fees from the Party because we like the concept of an easy path for the nouniverse to quickly propose ideas around NOGS.

Anyway, proposals from the ecosystem have to be aligned with the long term goals of NOGS and it’s also important that proposers are verifiable and with a proven track record.

We reserve the right to exercise our veto power if these requirements are not satisfied.
