            <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>FOC Game Engines were developed to simplify creating <em>Fully On-Chain Games (FOCG)</em>, addressing issues developers faced when building games like Dark Forest, which struggled with tools designed for DeFi rather than gaming.</p><p>FOC Game Engines now streamline FOCG development by providing modular libraries and tools that focus on core game logic instead of infrastructure. Major FOC Game Engines fall into two categories: public goods (open to all) and proprietary engines by game studios. Modular libraries in these engines enable developers to reuse code, making FOCG development faster and easier.</p><p><strong>MUD</strong> and <strong>Dojo</strong> are leading FOC Game Engines. <em>MUD</em>, released in Q3/2022, aims to serve as an "operating system" for EVM-based apps. Initially developed by Lattice, MUD uses an <em>Entity Component System (ECS)</em> for game structuring, transitioning in its V2 release to a flexible data model like SQLite. This model broadens its utility beyond FOCG to other blockchain applications.</p><p><em>Dojo</em>, launched in February 2023, is Starknet-focused and features a STARK-based proving system, making it ideal for complex games on Starknet. Its proof system, despite its size, is efficient in computation, offering advantages over other engines.</p><p>Other notable engines include <em>World Engine</em> by Argus, <em>Keystone</em>, <em>Paima Engine</em>, and <em>Archetype Engine</em>. World Engine by Argus, which includes L2 and L3 architecture with ECS and low block times, offers full-stack FOCG solutions, particularly for non-EVM games, and supports popular engines like Unity. </p><p>With FOC Game Engines like these, developers can better focus on game creation, marking a significant step in the evolution of blockchain-based gaming.</p>]]></content:encoded>
