Lately I’ve been playing a whole lot of Nba2k23. I’m very new to basketball. When I say new, I mean it’s been only a few weeks since I’ve gotten to know all the rules of basketball new.

One thing I noticed since I started playing sports games a lot, is the they are really similar to RPG games.

In RPG games, there are metas, certain skills that work with certain builds, inside games knowledge of mechanics and whole lot of other things to know before playing the game effectively.

In the NBA there are 30 teams with a starting line up and a bench. From what I saw, all the players have different types of jumpshots, dribbles and attributes that effect how they perform.

Using a team effectively means, understanding how each player works and how they fit into the team. This made think of RPG games. Characters have different attributes, they have certain rules and ways to maneuver the world to get the best results.

There is a certain depth to these kinds of games that I did not know sports games also had. So far I’ve been really enjoying discovering the world of the NBA and think I will do so for a long time.
