Creators take it from there, telling the Devcon story in your own voice. Any of the following formats work:

• Short video

• Thread on X or Threads

• Article or blog post

• Podcast or audio

• Carousel or design

Missions will be shared directly with Fellows once the program begins, and they will be released in batches so you can plan production around your own schedule.

— 🦄 Devcon Team

Supporter applications are now open for organizations that want to help bring Devcon 8 India to life in Mumbai.

Every Devcon has its own energy. Some of it happens on stage, but much of it happens in the hallways, over coffee, in coworking rooms, at community hubs, outside the venue, and in the conversations that continue long after the day’s programming ends.

That is what makes Devcon different. It is not just a conference where Ethereum is discussed. It is where the people building the future of Ethereum come together to learn from each other, challenge each other, and move the ecosystem forward.

From November 3–6, 2026, Devcon 8 India will bring developers, researchers, protocol teams, founders, public goods contributors, organizers, educators, artists, and open-source communities to Mumbai for four days of technical depth, collaboration, and connection.

Why Supporters Matter

Devcon is shaped by the people who show up, and Supporters help create the environment that makes that possible.

For organizations building in this ecosystem, Devcon is a rare opportunity to be present where the work is happening. Supporters contribute to the spaces, infrastructure, and shared environments where thousands of people find each other, exchange ideas, and build momentum together.

Supporters can apply for booth opportunities across three tiers: Flagship, Core, and Starter. Each tier includes different levels of presence, visibility, and event access, with options for two-day or four-day participation.

Early Bird pricing is available through June 15, with limited availability across each tier.

Why Mumbai?

Devcon 8 India takes place at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai, one of Asia’s leading convention and exhibition centers.

India is not just a place where Ethereum is used. It is one of the places where Ethereum is built. The country is home to one of the world’s largest developer ecosystems, strong grassroots Ethereum communities, and growing participation across crypto, open-source, fintech, AI, and adjacent technology sectors.

For Supporters, Devcon 8 is an opportunity to connect with Indian developers, local communities, and global teams working across open, decentralized systems.

Who Is the Supporters Program For?

The Supporters Program is designed for organizations building on and for Ethereum, including funded protocols, L2s, infrastructure teams, client teams, wallets, developer tooling companies, DeFi protocols, identity systems, security teams, grants programs, DAOs, public goods projects, and ecosystem contributors.

It is also relevant for adjacent communities working toward open, decentralized systems, including free and open-source software communities, digital rights organizations, open science and academic research groups, open hardware teams, decentralized communications projects, and regenerative technology initiatives.

The common thread is alignment with Devcon’s purpose: educating and empowering the community to build and use decentralized systems.

How the Program Works

For Devcon 8 India, the Supporters Program will operate on a rotation model. Each booth can run for four days, with the option to choose a two-day presence.

Applications will be reviewed to ensure alignment with Devcon’s principles and the broader goals of the event.

Apply to Become a Devcon 8 Supporter

Organizations interested in supporting Devcon 8 India can now apply through the Devcon website.

If your organization is building on or for Ethereum, contributing to open-source infrastructure, supporting public goods, or advancing open, decentralized systems, Devcon 8 is an opportunity to be part of the environment that brings this ecosystem together.

Apply to receive the Supporters deck and learn more about available booth opportunities: https://devcon.org/en/supporters/

Why Mumbai

Devcon 8 is coming to India at a moment of real momentum.

India is home to one of the world’s fastest-growing developer ecosystems, with grassroots Ethereum communities growing across universities, meetups, hackathons, contributors, and local projects.

Mumbai gives Devcon 8 a clear purpose: to connect India’s growing builder ecosystem with the global community working on open, resilient, permissionless systems.

Why This Matters

Devcon 8 is also a place to gather around the values that have shaped Ethereum from the beginning: open source, privacy, security, censorship resistance, and capture resistance.

These values are not abstract. They are the foundation for systems that remain open, verifiable, resilient, and accessible without permission. In Mumbai, those values meet one of the world’s fastest-growing builder ecosystems.

What is Devcon?

Devcon began in Berlin, 2014. Forty-thousand attendees and eight editions later, Devcon 8 lands in Mumbai. We don't go where everyone else goes. We go where something is growing.

At its core, Devcon is grounded in the four properties known as CROPS: censorship resistance, open source, privacy, and security. From the programming to the spaces to the community initiatives, everything is designed to support technology that remains open, verifiable, and resilient.

If you ship open-source infrastructure, defend digital privacy, research fairer economic models, or build tools you think should belong to everyone, you share these values. There is a place for you at Devcon.

🗺 Planning your trip? Devcon 8 Mumbai: Your Friend's Guide to the City includes everything you need to confidently travel to Mumbai for the first time to attend Devcon. Get the kind of advice a local friend would provide over chai, including key travel info, where to stay, info on visas, and cultural tips.

Road To Devcon 8

Devcon’s impact starts months before anyone walks through its doors. Road to Devcon brings together communities, local organizations, and new audiences through programs designed to amplify grassroots efforts and create long-term impact.

• Academic Program: Connecting students, researchers, and academic institutions with Ethereum.

• Ecosystem Program: Grants and activations supporting local events and community initiatives, while bringing Ethereum’s core values and CROPS into practice through hands-on experiences across India. Applications for the second round coming soon.

Together, these programs keep the community active, amplify local efforts and voices, and serve as preparation for the culmination of the year: Devcon.

Ways to Participate

• Community Hubs → Curate and organize conversations around the topics you care about. Applications open in June.

• DIP (Devcon Improvement Proposals) → Ideas to level up the attendee experience. Get creative, submit a proposal.

• Volunteer → Help run the event and experience Devcon from the inside. Applications open June 1st. Join the waitlist here.

• Creator crew → Coming soon.

Support Devcon

The Supporters Program is how projects become part of Devcon.

Instead of traditional sponsorship, Supporters contribute to the event and get a real presence across four days, alongside builders, researchers, founders from 130+ countries, protocol teams, L2s, client developers, and the people shipping Ethereum.

The Program is application-based and intentionally limited. Different levels of participation are available, from a booth, presence, and tickets, to non-booth activations and more.

What’s Next

More opportunities to propose, build, and co-create Devcon are coming soon, including applications for media partners, creators, and artists.

If you’ve been to India and would like to share your experience, or if you’re a local and want to contribute with tips, recommendations, insights, or Mumbai City Guide contributions, we’d love to hear from you. Reach out at ecosystem@devcon.org.

This Devcon 8 update is not a full vision, but will help organizers and the wider ecosystem plan. More details on programming, tracks, and participation will follow in the coming months.

Why India, why Mumbai

India was selected as the next host location based on the scale and rapid growth of its developer ecosystem, rising local adoption, and strong grassroots Ethereum communities.

• India has 17M+ developers on GitHub

• It has been the largest source of new crypto developers since 2023

• It leads global crypto adoption for the second consecutive year

• Ethereum-focused activity across universities, meetups, hackathons, and community groups continues to grow rapidly

India is also home to a strong ecosystem with projects like ETHMumbai, Devfolio, Polygon, and many more who’ve been shaping the Ethereum community for years. For a deeper overview of the ecosystem, we recommend reading this ecosystem overview by Geodework.

Mumbai, a major global city with a deep technology base, offers strong accessibility for attendees across India and Asia. Hosting Devcon 8 here strengthens the existing momentum and lowers the barrier for new builders to connect with contributors from around the world.

Devcon 8 will be hosted November 3-6, 2026, just a few days before Diwali on November 8th, the Hindu festival of lights. Come for Devcon and stay to experience this important cultural and religious celebration.

What is Devcon?

Devcon is the bi-annual gathering for the global Ethereum community, organized by the Ethereum Foundation, to build and use decentralized systems.

It is:

• an intensive introduction for new Ethereum explorers

• a global reunion for long-time contributors

• a place where developers, researchers, community organizers, students, and creators come together

• a conference for builders of all kinds

Devcon has always had a strong technical core (it’s the DEVeloper CONference after all) and that remains true. But Ethereum’s applications extend far beyond protocol engineering into the digital economy, research, art, community work, governance, public goods, and more.

Devcon is not only for developers. It’s for engineers, designers, researchers, infrastructure operators, educators, community organizers, social economists, artists, and anyone building systems that improve the world using Ethereum.

We rotate Devcon across regions because Ethereum can have real, immediate impact in different parts of the world.

What to expect in Mumbai

Devcon 8 will take place in one venue, across 4 days, with:

• full programming

• multiple stages

• deeply technical content and workshops

• sessions for newcomers

• Supporter spaces

• Community Hubs

• Discussion Corners

• and the familiar Devcon atmosphere with art, music, and spaces shaped by the community

More information on programming, speaker applications, community involvement, volunteer opportunities, and tickets will be published over the coming months. Subscribe to the newsletter and follow us on X, Instagram, or Farcaster to stay up to date.

For ecosystem teams: consider scheduling activities before or after the Devcon dates to avoid overlapping with Devcon programming and so we can all stay in one venue to reduce the impact of traffic congestion. We'll open Supporter applications soon for teams to get involved in the event.

A World’s Fair for Ethereum with La Rural as the Schellingpoint

For the first time, Devconnect introduced a World’s Fair-style experience, anchored entirely within La Rural, one of Buenos Aires’ most iconic venues, where everything was brought together into a single, immersive environment.

Inside La Rural, attendees could explore:

• 8 themed districts: DeFi, Privacy, L2s, Decentralized Social, Hardware & Wallets, AI, Gaming, and Art

• 80+ exhibiting teams showing real, working Ethereum applications

• 15 Community Hubs organized by ecosystem groups

• 40 events run by independent teams

• Discussion corners, coworking zones, and bookable meeting rooms

• Onboarding stations for newcomers

• Food trucks accepting crypto payments

• Live music, a cinema, and a soccer pitch with tournaments

It turned Ethereum into something you could walk through. People tested applications, played onchain games, tried new wallets, paid with crypto for food and drinks, explored AI workflows, and met the teams building on Ethereum today.

The Devconnect App: the guide to the World’s Fair

The entire experience was supported by the Devconnect App, which helped attendees navigate the massive venue, view programming, build personal schedules, pay with crypto via the integrated wallet or add their own, complete quests, discover new applications, and collect POAPs on the way. We collaborated with multiple web3 projects integrated into the app: Para, SimpleFi, POAP, WalletConnect, Base, Zapper, Zupass, AT Protocol, Peanut, and ENS.

App stats

• 9,000+ logged-in users

• 16,000 POAPs minted

• 14,000 World’s Fair quests completed

• Crypto payment activity through SimpleFi

Ecosystem announcements and talk highlights

Devconnect featured major updates from across the ecosystem, with many teams choosing this time of the year as the place to announce new initiatives.

Key announcements

• Yoav Weiss (EF Account Abstraction) introduced the Ethereum Interop Layer (EIL), designed to make Ethereum feel like one chain again without compromising decentralization.

• Vitalik and EF teams announced Kohaku, the new security- and privacy-focused wallet stack.

Local energy and impact

Many visitors fell in love with Buenos Aires, with the spring vibe and lively streets, the mate culture, asados and steak, ice cream, the football energy, street art, and the surrounding nature. Some even stayed well beyond Devconnect.

Buenos Aires was the perfect location for the first Ethereum World’s Fair, with Argentina being one of the most active crypto markets in the world, with about 20% owning crypto, using it for savings, hedging against inflation, access to lending, and stability. Across the city, many vendors accept crypto for payments, and this familiarity made Devconnect feel at the right place at the right time. Devconnect itself was also shaped by the contributions of the local and regional Ethereum communities:

ETHCon Buenos Aires

ETHCon was one of the major Devconnect events and was organized by the local communities SEED Latam, Crecimiento, Ethereum Argentina, ETH Kipu, Mujeres en Cripto, and multiple regional partners.

• 4,000+ attendees

• 60+ speakers, including Vitalik, Santiago Palladino, city and Ministry of Education representatives, and leading companies like Mercado Libre, YPF, and Fiserv

• Talks and panels exploring Ethereum’s impact across finance, gaming, AI, art, education, and public infrastructure

Destino Devconnect

Beginning in April 2025, we supported local initiatives through Destino Devconnect, a grants round designed to accelerate regional adoption ahead of Devconnect.

Results:

• 100+ supported events

• 14 participating countries across LATAM

Universities and students

Devconnect included one of the largest student and academic components in EF event history.

• 3,000+ local school students attended via a partnership with the Ministry of Education

• 45+ universities were involved

• 8 university-led sessions happened throughout the week at La Rural

A community-powered week

Devconnect is built on community contributions:

• 200 volunteers helped make the entire week possible, coming from 40 countries, with 30% joining us from African regions including Nigeria, Kenya and Ghana.

• 15 Community Hubs created thematic home bases for different groups

• DIP contributors created a diverse range of activations for the event

• Ecosystem teams hosted 40 events inside La Rural and 500+ side events across Buenos Aires: hackathons, workshops, meetups, hacker houses, parties, and more

The eight districts of the Ethereum World’s Fair

Just as Nikola Tesla's electricity system lit up Chicago’s World’s Fair in 1893, when most people still used candles, we’ll showcase what Ethereum can do today to replace old and traditional systems. We’ll dogfood Ethereum on the ground for payments, ticketing, perks, and voting. Additionally, eight districts will highlight Ethereum’s domains. The most relevant teams will be there, demoing their apps and letting you try them hands-on. The districts are:

DeFi

All the power of the financial system, open to anyone with an internet connection. From stablecoins that maintain their value to innovative approaches in lending, borrowing, and payments. All without the need for banks or middlemen.

Social

Ethereum’s tools for organizing people online. Prediction markets, identity, and decentralized social apps show how communities can coordinate, govern, and make decisions together without central authorities.

Hardware & Wallets

Ethereum in the physical world and wallets that unlock the world of Ethereum. Explore self-custodial wallets and devices that empower users to control their assets. Discover how real-world systems can be community-owned.

Privacy

Not everything should be public. Privacy-preserving tech on Ethereum lets people transact, communicate, and build securely while keeping sensitive information hidden. A civil right for the internet age.

Gaming

Games where players own their assets. Characters, items, and virtual land live as NFTs on Ethereum, so you can trade, sell, or carry them into new worlds. Entertainment meets real digital ownership.

AI

Where artificial intelligence meets decentralization. AI agents and tools built with Ethereum are transparent, secure, and open to anyone, not locked inside big companies. Discover how Ethereum enables the future that AI promises, and together how they reshape productivity and trust.

L2

Ethereum’s scaling layer. Layer 2 networks make transactions faster and cheaper without sacrificing security. The place to see how rollups, zk-tech, and new apps bring Ethereum to billions of people.

Collectibles

Digital art, music, and culture onchain. NFTs let artists prove ownership, earn royalties, and connect directly with collectors. A new economy for creativity, where scarcity and authenticity exist online.

Ethereum Day – Nov 17

The grand opening at La Rural. Opening ceremony and talks from the Ethereum Foundation, core contributors, and app builders. One day to get up to speed on the roadmap and future of the ecosystem.
This day is included in your ticket, but entrance on the 17th will be first come first served, so don’t come late.

ETHCon – Nov 18

An all-Spanish introduction to Ethereum and its community, co-organized by regional leaders SEED Latam, Ethereum Argentina, ETH Kipu, Crecimiento, and Nodo Serrano. It’s the gateway to Devconnect for the local Spanish-speaking audience, featuring talks and panels on tokenization, privacy, regulation, AI, and decentralization. Plus hands-on workshops to kickstart or deepen your journey with Ethereum, and opportunities to connect with Argentina’s leading projects, communities, and universities.

The week at La Rural

La Rural will be the center of Devconnect:

Apply here.

This year, we are aiming for something bigger than just Devconnect: We want to support an effort that the local community has already started — bringing Argentina onchain.

In Buenos Aires and Argentina, we have a city and country that have been leading adopters of Ethereum for many years. Devconnect Argentina is an opportunity for the whole Ethereum ecosystem to support that steady growth and to accelerate it even further, by helping individual citizens, businesses, institutions and governments to adopt and benefit from Ethereum.

Get in touch at support@devconnect.org or on the Forum if you or your organization are interested in helping to bring Argentina onchain this year.

Devconnect will be a culmination of this effort, and a global gathering that’s more than a decentralized event week. In addition to focused community-organized events that will take place across the city, the EF events team will create an interactive “Ethereum World’s Fair” — a real showcase of live dapps, as a blueprint for what Ethereum can enable for a city, an economy, and a nation.

November 17th is the official Devconnect kickoff day. Save the date, be there, and plan your events around this big opening day!

Argentina is a place where Ethereum adoption is happening right now. People are using stablecoins and blockchain solutions for daily transactions and savings. Buenos Aires is already experimenting onchain: the city’s government has launched initiatives like a digital identity system with Quark ID, built on Ethereum and zksync, showing its openness to crypto.

The local ecosystem is also strong, with Argentina-founded projects like Balmy, Belo, Bouldertech, Decentraland, DeFiWonderland, ExactlyProtocol, Kleros, LambdaClass, Lemon, MakerDAO(Sky), Mimic, Nomic Foundation, OpenZeppelin, POAP, and Ripio in addition to many more. Plus, it is home to grassroots movements like Ethereum Argentina, Seed Latam, ETH Latam, Ciudad de Crecimiento and others. Argentinians are also part of many other teams across the ecosystem.

The Argentina Ethereum ecosystem has laid strong foundations already, and Devconnect is an opportunity for all of us in the Ethereum ecosystem to build on top of those foundations. Ethereum adoption is happening at scale today in Argentina, and together we can help Buenos Aires become a template for other cities to follow in the future.

Argentina has offered to help us with visa applications, so this Devconnect can be truly accessible.

At the center of Devconnect Argentina will be something that we call the “Ethereum World’s Fair”. Over the last centuries, World’s Fairs around the globe showcased cutting-edge tech and offered a glimpse into the future. The “Ethereum World’s Fair” will be a live showcase of how Ethereum can transform identity, finance, governance, and day-to-day life. Stablecoins, DeFi, onchain identities, public goods funding — all of it will be at the Ethereum Fair for people to try, so you can see for yourself how Ethereum-based tools can power more accessible, transparent, and sovereign alternatives to traditional, centralized models.

At the main venue, you’ll find the Devconnect coworking space, which will be a more holistic experience, including Community Hubs. These interactive spaces are organized by members of the community, and you might know them from Devcon. We will share more about the Devconnect Community Hubs and how to organize one in a few weeks.

Of course, Devconnect Argentina is still Devconnect – that means multiple events organized by different teams across the city of Buenos Aires, each diving deep into specific Ethereum topics.

One of our main goals is to push real usage of Ethereum. We encourage organizers to integrate onchain ticketing, payments, and identity wherever possible. We also continue looking for opportunities to dogfood Ethereum tech to improve the attendee experience at Devconnect.

Are you a local team in Argentina, working on bringing the country onchain already, or an international team looking to contribute to the ecosystem-wide push to support the Argentinian ecosystem to bring their country onchain?

Contact us at support@devconnect.org or share your thoughts on the Forum.

We are looking to extend our team and are hiring for a few positions, with more opportunities coming soon. Apply now:

• Fullstack Web3 Developer

• Local Ecosystem Lead

• Local Event Production Magician

• Product Designer

xoxo,

The Devconnect Team

The Devcon team is as always extremely bullish on Ethereum and we are excitedly waiting for the upcoming Pectra upgrade, estimated for Q1 of 2025. Also: our eyes lit up when we saw the 2025 Ethereum community events list, which is already super packed.

As the Ethereum Foundation events team, one of our guiding principles is to dogfood Ethereum tech where possible and where it makes sense. We even recently asked ourselves how we might make Devcon run completely on Ethereum and Ethereum-adjacent tech. We have a long list of projects we have collaborated with to stand by this principle over past Devcons, which you can find here, and we are always open to new suggestions via our DIP process.

Some upcoming changes in the EF were announced, and we also want to introduce a few new things, one of them being this newsletter. From now on, here’s what you can expect monthly:

1. EF events updates

First and foremost, we’ll continue to share Devcon and Devconnect updates. But we want to go a bit deeper, share what we’re planning and what questions we’re pondering. We’ll ask for your opinions and thoughts, so you can actively help shape the biggest Ethereum events.

2. Ecosystem Ethereum events

Events are a huge part of our ecosystem, and while Devcon is one of the biggest events, there are multiple gatherings hosted by local Ethereum communities. Today, there are already 65 events scheduled for 2025 on this community list. We’ll be highlighting some Ethereum events each month, and gather some unique insights so you can make the best decision about which events to join.

3. Local highlights

In this section, we will highlight projects, teams, dApps, and use cases from the Devconnect 2025 region. We’ll reveal this section after our Devconnect location announcement.

Let’s dive into the updates for January.

2025: Devconnect

Devconnect 2025 will take place in Q4, and we’ll announce the location soon. Devconnect is about making progress. It should be a catalyst for Ethereum innovation in many different areas and fields. That’s why Devconnect is a decentralized event. Unlike Devcon, which we mostly organize, Devconnect is many separate events organized by expert teams in the community.

Planning Devconnect

Our team still guides the layout and directions of the Devconnect week and we started the year with a workshop to help us focus on what Devconnect should be about and how we can improve it. Thanks to Deep Work for facilitating the workshop.

Here are some of our key focus points for Devconnect this year to enable in-person collaboration and meaningful progress while having a decentralized week with experts curating the programming for their events:

How might we…

Looking for your input

We value your thoughts, too. If you have any ideas on these topics or other ideas for Devconnect, we have opened a new category on our forum. Feel free to share any thoughts on how to solve them.

There are ten events scheduled for the coming month, all organized by the community! We spoke with a few organizers and asked what they want to highlight about their events:

ETHiopia, Jan 21-Feb 21, Addis Ababa

The ETHiopia team is incredibly ambitious not only organizing a month-long pop-up for Africa’s Web3 builders and changemakers but also a hackathon and conference, all in one. To make that happen, they collaborated with many communities across the continent. The team is determined to lay the foundation for a strong Ethereum movement in the country, creating opportunities to present Ethereum as the best institutional partner for the Ethiopian government. If you want to support ETHiopia in their mission, join the event or participate in the on-chain lottery.

Agentic Ethereum, Jan 31-Feb 12, online

This async hackathon by ETHGlobal focuses on developing and building crypto AI agents and is therefore at the forefront of current hot topics in the Ethereum ecosystem. AI agents have the potential to revolutionize how autonomous entities interact with Ethereum. Join the hackathon to leverage AI and be part of the fundamental shift in how digital personas operate online and on-chain, reshaping the dynamics of the crypto space.

Ethereum Zurich, Jan 30-Jan 31, Zurich

It's the third time the team is hosting the event at the University of Zurich. The conference has 3 main tracks: academia and research, community, and industry. It will feature many local Swiss organizations and communities while exploring transformative movements like lunarpunk, privacy, solarpunk, d/acc, and defensive tech. Zuitzerland, the local network state and society sandbox, is also involved with multiple sessions.

ETHDenver, Feb 23-Mar 2

It's the year of the regenerates at ETHDenver, and, as usual, there is Buidlweek before the main event and a mountain retreat right after, making the event a total of 2 weeks long. One thing the organizing team is especially proud of is their decentralized decision-making process for selecting speakers at ETHDenver. It’s a merit-based system where over 30 expert and OG reviewers, along with a team of curators, review applications, provide feedback, and make the final selections.

Modular Carnival, Feb 25-Mar 1

Modular Carnival is a new web3 event in the heart of Brazil. The hackathon features a special track focused on Arbitrum Stylus, inviting developers and creators to experiment with WebAssembly (WASM) in the Arbitrum ecosystem. To keep things exciting, participants can use a custom event app to collect points by completing tasks like watching talks, engaging with booths, or networking, and then exchange them for prizes. To top it all off, the event concludes with a street carnival block party, celebrating Brazilian culture and the energy that makes it so special.

Find these and more events on this community list.
