He pioneered a modern egg production line, researching methods for higher-quality eggs. In 1962, he founded the Ise Empire. His collecting habits began with Impressionist oil paintings, but 30 years ago, a turning point led him to Chinese ceramics, starting with a Ming Dynasty blue and white porcelain basin.

Beyond Chinese ceramics, his collections span paintings, sculptures, traditional crafts, and Japanese woodblock prints. In March 2021, significant Chinese artworks from his collection were auctioned in Tokyo and Hong Kong. Notably, a Yinxu bronze vessel with bold animal patterns fetched 43.12 million HKD, a Song Ding kiln carved peony plate sold for 2.76 million HKD, a Yuan Longquan celadon dragon-patterned plate went for 1.15 million HKD, a Ming Yongle blue and white intertwined branch floral plate sold for 11.53 million HKD, and a Ming Yongle blue and white lotus flower plate reached 4.715 million HKD.

The inscription inside the pot is “Shan Gui”, which should be the mark of the Yin and Shang royal family. The earliest record of this bronze pot was collected by Denzaburo Fujita, founder of the famous Fujita Museum of Art in Japan. It was recorded in the book “Japan’s Search for the Bronze Essence of China” published by the Yamanaka Chamber of Commerce and written by Umehara Sueharu (1893–1983). .This lot should have been collected by Kawai Sadajiro in the mid-20th century after Fujita Denzaburo, and his name was included in the published “Japanese Collection of China Bronze Essence”, and was later collected by Ise Hikonobu.

This plate boasts a substantial size with a delicate and lightweight body, making the molding process challenging. The body is coated with a white glaze, slightly tinged with yellow, showcasing the typical style of the Song Dynasty. The entire plate is intricately carved with peony patterns, featuring crisp lines and a harmonious arrangement of petals and branches, creating a striking contrast when illuminated. The outer surface is lustrous, with the plate’s rim gently curving, and the bottom bears the engraved character “花” (flower).

The rim of the plate is adorned with inset metal clasps, a characteristic of overglaze firing in Ding kilns. Ding kilns pioneered the overglaze firing technique, resulting in vessels with exposed rims, which were then adorned with metal, known as “gold-mounted Ding ware.” The metal clasp not only conceals the rim’s edges but also serves to protect it, adding a delightful touch. This has become a distinctive decoration of Ding kiln white porcelain.

The Dragon Motif Plate from Longquan Kiln, adorned with applied decorations, has long been revered as a significant artifact from the Yuan Dynasty within the Longquan Kiln repertoire. Such pieces are treasured in major museums worldwide, including the Topkapi Palace Museum in Turkey and the Guangdong Provincial Museum, which house similar styled collections.

The inner wall of this plate is intricately carved with motifs resembling surging waves, while the center features an applied plastic dragon motif with a robust and powerful body. The outer wall of the plate exhibits a chrysanthemum petal pattern. With a thick and sturdy structure, exquisite glaze color, and an unglazed foot, this plate represents a quintessential masterpiece from the Yuan Dynasty Longquan Kiln.

In Japanese museums, around eight Chinese ceramics have been designated as national treasures, with three of them being Longquan celadon pieces. This underscores the admiration and importance of Longquan celadon in East Asian culture. The Longquan Dragon Motif Plate is particularly precious, having been showcased in the “Chinese Ceramic Masterpieces Exhibition” at the Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of Art in Japan.

This blue and white plate, adorned with a “Bouquet of Lotus” motif, stands as a classic representation of porcelain from the Yongle period of the Ming Dynasty. The intricate decorations on both the inner and outer walls depict intertwining branches and seasonal flowers, characterized by graceful and flowing lines. At the center of the plate, various aquatic plants such as lotus pods, lotus flowers, floating arrowheads, and bulrushes are delicately portrayed. Interwoven with redshank, sweet flag, and fragrant cattail, they are bound together with ribbon, hence the name “Bouquet of Lotus.” The layout of the design is clear and open, exuding a refreshing artistic expression with a touch of summer ambiance.

The vibrant blue and white colors exhibit a vivid brilliance, and the glazed surface is adorned with naturally formed crystalline spots, indicative of the “iron rust spots” effect achieved through the use of the “su ma li qing” technique. These characteristics distinctly mark the piece with the traits of its time.

This plate was previously featured in the exhibition catalog of the “Chinese Ancient Ceramics Exhibition,” which was published and exhibited by Tokyo Bijutsu Club in 1964. The Tokyo Bijutsu Club organized this exhibition and special sale event in commemoration of the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. After being displayed by Rokushōdō, the plate garnered the admiration of collectors and was promptly sold.

————————————————————————————————————————

All items are impeccably preserved, accompanied by detailed documentation. These auctioned treasures truly attest to the value of the Ise Collection. Now, EGGOR presents the Ise Collection exhibition and special auction! Don’t miss this chance to explore the art world curated by Egg King himself!

About EGGOR project

EGGOR is a Web3.0-based NFT Community incubation platform dedicated to fostering a dynamic art metaverse. Impressionist artists aimed to capture fleeting sensations and changes in light, abandoning detailed precision for rapid brushstrokes and color variations. Their emphasis on conveying subjective impressions over objective details created visual impact and emotional resonance, influencing the course of contemporary art.

A kaleidoscope of extraordinary art pieces is set to grace the EGGOR platform, offering a vibrant stage for artists and art enthusiasts worldwide. Among the featured masterpieces is the highly anticipated debut of none other than Takashi Murakami, an artist synonymous with controversy and creativity.

The name Takashi Murakami may ring a bell. Even if you’re not familiar with his moniker, chances are you’ve stumbled upon his anime-inspired sunflower renditions or the buzz-worthy life-size figures that sparked conversations far and wide. But who exactly is this enigmatic figure known as Takashi Murakami, and what drives his artistic vision?

Born in Itabashi, Tokyo in 1962, Murakami initially aspired to pursue a career in animation after completing high school. However, his path diverged, leading him to the doors of the Japanese painting department at the Tokyo University of the Arts after a couple of tumultuous years.

During his tenure in the university’s graduate school, Murakami unveiled a series influenced by the iconic Tamiya plastic models, marking the genesis of his transformative journey in the contemporary art scene. In 1993, he etched his name in history as the first individual to earn a doctoral degree from the Japanese painting department, presenting a doctoral dissertation titled “On the Meaning of Meaninglessness in Art,” which remains accessible at the esteemed National Diet Library.

Dubbed the purveyor of “superflat” aesthetics

Murakami established his aesthetic of “Superflat,” combining influences from pop art, Japanese anime, manga, and popular culture, integrating traditional Japanese ukiyo-e with contemporary mass culture, resulting in flat and colorful works. His various hit works, including characters like “Mr. DOB,” “Kaikai and Kiki in the Flower Paradise,” and “Panda Family,” contain a blend of cuteness, pop culture, and simultaneously convey social messages. His talent and creative approach have earned him numerous awards and honors, including the Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters from the French Ministry of Culture in 2001 and the Agency for Cultural Affairs Commissioner’s Award in 2019.

The canvas itself speaks volumes, with Murakami’s signature “flowers” meticulously adorned

The canvas itself speaks volumes, with Murakami’s signature “flowers” meticulously adorned, drawing subtle parallels to the abstract works of Yayoi Kusama’s whimsical polka dots and nets, Agnes Martin’s and Daniel Buren’s mesmerizing stripes, and an assortment of other thought-provoking abstract artists. As one delves deeper into the artwork, the unmistakable presence of Doraemon’s whimsical characters overwhelms the senses, casting an illusionary spell reminiscent of the deliberate optical illusions found in op art.

Takashi Murakami ✖ Doraemon

Beyond the vibrant characters and Doraemon’s playful universe, the canvas unfolds a mesmerizing spectacle, unfolding a temporal disruption that blurs the lines between past and present, reality and fiction. Fujiko F. Fujio himself makes multiple appearances, accentuating the canvas’s rich tapestry and drawing upon the traditional techniques of simultaneous narration found in both Western and Eastern art forms.

At the heart of the artwork lies the “Anywhere Door,” exquisitely embellished with platinum foil, symbolizing a transcendental realm, a sanctified space where earthly limitations cease to exist, drawing inspiration from the ethereal realms inhabited by deities and Buddha. In this realm, radiant buildings adorned with gold and silver are akin to the sacred structures found in the pure land, known for their celestial purity and resplendent luminosity. Thus, the canvas not only resonates with contemporary art but also pays homage to the timeless elements found in Buddhist paintings, showcasing an amalgamation of cultural influences that transcend time and space.

Embracing a surrealistic twist, the “Time Machine” takes center stage, surrounded by a series of warped clocks, defying conventional notions of time and space. With roots tracing back to the realms of manga and a subtle nod to Salvador Dali’s “The Disintegration of the Persistence of Memory” (1954), the piece encapsulates the essence of Surrealism, inviting the viewer to traverse an alternate dimension, blurring the boundaries between the real and the imagined. The provocative depiction of a bare-skinned Shizuka-chan and a half-clad Nobita serves as a poignant reminder of the perpetual theme of the human form found throughout the annals of art history.

<img src="https://storage.googleapis.com/papyrus_images/33a96ef6fa023247f507ef4ee1fdd75382754825ea074ba45865f1e384b70ee5.jpg" alt="Takashi Murakami, “I wish I could do that,” 2017, acrylic, gold and platinum leaf on canvas mounted on aluminum frame / ©2017 Takashi Murakami/Kaikai Kiki Co., Ltd. Yoshitomo is known for incorporating elements from Japanese manga and anime, creating unique and pop-style artworks. His characters, such as girls with oversized heads, docile white dogs, and children dressed in sheep’s clothing, exude a remarkable cuteness, albeit with slightly upturned eyes and a touch of hostility, lending a subtle subversive quality to his pieces. Another one of his notable works, “Dead of Night,” was sold for around 320 million yen at Christie’s London in February 2020. The Longwenping, or Dragon and Clouds vase, is a traditional form of Chinese porcelain, typically a vase with blue and white porcelain body adorned with intricate dragon motifs. It’s considered a symbol of auspiciousness. While its roots can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty, it’s the Longwenping porcelain of the Ming Dynasty, particularly during the reign of Wanli Emperor, that is celebrated for its extraordinary beauty.

The Longwenping porcelain from the Wanli period is renowned for its rich glaze colors, diverse decorative patterns, and a wide range of vessel shapes including vases, jars, plates, bowls, and teacups. With fine clay and sophisticated firing techniques, the porcelain exhibits a hard texture, a glossy glaze, and a pinnacle of quality and craftsmanship. Known for its abundant glaze colors, exquisite patterns, and highly realistic depictions of dragons, it has earned worldwide recognition, making the Ming Dynasty a pivotal era in the history of Chinese porcelain.

The “Wucai Longwenping” within the Ise Collection is a true masterpiece in every sense. Its composition, adorned with the five-color decorative motifs, portrays dragons, waves, and floral branches in intricate detail. Though the design might seem slightly crowded, the meticulous representation of dragons, waves, and floral motifs, except for a small amount of yellow, relies solely on harmonious green, red, and the blue of blue and white porcelain. This particular piece can be rightfully hailed as an exquisite example of Wanli Wucai ceramics. Symbolic of good fortune, authority, mystique, and nobility, this Wucai Longwenping is soon to be unveiled on EGGOR, offering art enthusiasts and collectors a unique opportunity for appreciation and acquisition.

For those with a penchant for porcelain, we invite you to register on the EGGOR platform.
