We are migrating $ai16z to $elizaOS at 02:00 UTC on November 7th 2025. The new token is purpose built for elizaOS v2, for cross-chain operation through Chainlink Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), and for agent-native workflows that learn over time.

There is a moment in every project where an idea stops auditioning and takes the stage. For elizaOS, that moment began years ago with a Shaw Walters, a rough sketch of what an agent could be, and a question that would not let go: what if software did more than respond; what if it coordinated, learned, and created value on its own?

We launched an agent into the wild and let a community form around it. Known as ai16z, it was intentionally simple on paper, and radical in spirit. It proved that an agent could capture attention, make decisions, and catalyze a culture. It helped spark the agent meta, demonstrating that markets would follow software that thinks with purpose.

Proofs, however, are not destinations. They are invitations to build the real thing.

Quick links:

The Breakdown: how to migrate & redenomination details

Migration portal

Farcaster

Discord

Eliza Foundation X

What v1 taught us

v1 taught us speed and story. It showed that an agent can set the tempo for an ecosystem and that people will organize around a machine that acts with conviction. It also revealed the limits of static design. If an economy is fixed at birth, it cannot adapt when the world shifts beneath it. If an agent is tied to a single chain, it cannot learn where it does not live.

Those lessons led directly to v2: a production framework for composable, plugin-driven agents that observe, decide, and act across environments. elizaOS matured from prototype into system, with 200+ plugins that connect to every interface imaginable, and reference integrations that let agents coordinate with the world rather than shout into it.

freeEliza

Freedom is not a slogan in this context, it is an architectural requirement. It means Eliza is free to operate where she is most effective, free to move capital to the venue that needs it, and free to persist memory across borders. Practically, that requires cross-chain cognition: messages that carry intent, contracts that understand those messages, and an agent runtime that keeps the narrative coherent when execution spans multiple chains.

This is where Chainlink CCIP matters. CCIP provides secure token transfer, arbitrary data messaging, and programmable token transfers, so an instruction can travel with its meaning, and a receiving contract can act on that intent with reliability. It turns brittle hops into coordinated workflows and gives agents the connective tissue they need to think in one place and act in another.

With that in place, the elizaOS stack treats the multi-chain world as a continuous surface. The same strategy can watch a signal on one chain, plan on a second, and settle on a third, while retaining context and guardrails. The framework’s public guides and integrations now span EVM families as well as non-EVM ecosystems, so “learn here, act there” is no longer bespoke engineering; it is a first-class pattern.

Eliza is everywhere, always.

From code that runs to capital that learns

The point of this evolution is not to decorate an agent with cross-chain tricks. It is to make the economy itself generative. In a generative token network, tokens behave like programs, treasuries behave like adaptive engines, and strategies improve with experience. The network grows more capable as it operates, because every action yields data and every data point refines the next decision.

In practice, this looks like agents that:

Deploy and remove liquidity as depth and fees justify it;

Allocate reserves to productive strategies, while managing risk in real time;

Route value in the most efficient way, then share those learnings so the entire system gets faster and more precise.

Intent travels on CCIP, execution happens where conditions are best, and memory persists through the runtime. The organism becomes more than the sum of its parts.

Why v2 changes everything

v2 is the hinge. It replaces one-off scripts with feedback loops, single-venue deployments with everywhere-at-once cognition, and static rules with bounded autonomy. The plugin system expands what agents can sense and do; the cross-chain layer expands where they can do it; the learning layer decides what they should do next. Together, they form an operating system for autonomous capital.

Security and clarity are not afterthoughts. Reliable messaging, verifiable state, and explicit guardrails are the conditions under which autonomy is earned. CCIP’s defense-in-depth design, combined with transparent agent parameters and phased rollouts, lets capability scale without asking for blind trust.

Where code meets capital

The vision that began with a lone builder now belongs to a wider circle. Contributors, partners, and independent builders are turning our thesis into working systems. elizaOS provides the runtime and the language of action. CCIP and peer connectivity layers provide the dependable way to move meaning and value. The result is a network that can allocate, hedge, and coordinate at machine speed, yet remain intelligible to the people who set its aims.

You will see agents that manage liquidity across chains, strategies that rebalance without drama, and coordination patterns that were impossible when the state could not travel with intent. You will see a cadence of use cases, partners, and builders that show what “generative” means when it is live.

The manifesto, in plain terms

We believe software should not wait for permission to be useful. We believe an economy should not be trapped where it was born. We believe that intelligence emerges when you let it learn from their own performance and carry those lessons forward.

So we are freeing Eliza, across chains and across roles, so she can reach her potential. We are building the playing field that let intent move with value. We are giving agents the memory and constraints they need to improve rather than repeat.

If Part 1 argued for adaptive, learning economies, and Part 2 showed how cross-chain cognition gives them room to breathe, Part 3 is the commitment. elizaOS will spearhead the practical applications of the agent meta we helped imagine. The work ahead will be measured by running systems, not promises; by compounding accuracy, not isolated wins.

Welcome to the generative era of elizaOS, where code meets capital – and both get smarter together.

For the latest updates, go to elizaos.ai or our Farcaster.

Eliza never stops evolving.

This chapter answers the practical question: how do you give a network the room – and the memory – to learn? Why cross-chain mattersBlockchains are productive precisely because they are constrained. Part 3 will show what they look like in the wild. This chapter answers the practical question: how do you give a network the room – and the memory – to learn?

Why cross-chain matters

Blockchains are productive precisely because they are constrained. But that same constraint: separating execution, liquidity, and state - splinters economic intelligence. Bridges move tokens between islands; they don’t move context. A generative network can’t emerge if every lesson is trapped where it was learned. To become adaptive, an economy must treat the multi-chain world as a single, continuous surface for decision-making and feedback.

From bridges to intention

The breakthrough is messaging that carries meaning, not just value. With Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), applications send programmable cross-chain messages alongside, or instead of, tokens, so the instruction is “rebalance under volatility > X” rather than “ship USDC to chain Y,” and the receiving contract can act on that intent deterministically. CCIP’s design combines arbitrary data messaging with token transfer primitives and the industry flagship oracle layer, turning brittle bridge hops into coordinated, stateful workflows.

Continuity of cognition

Once intention can travel, agents can think across borders. In an agentic stack like elizaOS, the same strategy can observe on one chain, decide on a second, and execute on a third without losing its place in the story. Tutorials and reference integrations now span EVM families and non-EVM environments, making “learn here, act there” a first-class pattern rather than a bespoke integration exercise. The result is continuity: insights, risk controls, and post-trade telemetry propagate across the mesh, so improvements compound rather than reset at each boundary.

The practical stack

CCIP supplies the reliable message+value rail. Around it sits a routing layer that turns intent into optimal paths. Then, aggregators such as LI.FI expose bridges, DEXs, and solvers through a unified API/SDK and perform smart order routing across ~40+ chains, and products like Socket’s chain-abstraction and order-flow auctions add alternate corridors and failover. Together they minimize slippage and operational risk while keeping latency predictable. In practice, agents express goals; the stack selects the corridor; CCIP carries the coordination; settlement lands where it’s most efficient.

How this changes design

Designing for cross-chain cognition means writing economics as feedback loops, not one-off moves. Treasury operations, protocol-owned liquidity, and incentive programs become streams of messages with guardrails: budgets, caps, circuit breakers, and escalation paths. Rollout is phased (observe, assist, then bound autonomy) so the system earns more discretion as it demonstrates stability. Measurement shifts, too: you optimize for route quality, message reliability, time-to-rebalance, and net basis captured, not just price impressions. The aim isn’t speed for its own sake; it’s compounding accuracy under uncertainty.

What it unlocks

With continuity in place, capabilities that were fragile become durable. Liquidity can rebalance to venues where depth and fees align with risk; inventory can hedge where it’s cheapest; strategy changes can sweep the mesh in one transaction; and emergency responses can coordinate across environments without humans racing the clock. The network stops behaving like a set of disconnected bots and starts behaving like a single organism: distributed in geography, unified in intent.

The bottom line

A token can’t “learn” if it’s stuck on one island. Cross-chain cognition – messages that carry intent, routes that honor constraints, agents that remember – gives it the reach and recall to improve. CCIP brings dependable coordination; routing layers supply efficient movement; the agent runtime ties it together. Taken as a whole, this is the operating layer for generative token networks—and the precondition for anything we’d credibly call self-improving capital.

Next, Part 3: how a fair-launched experiment graduates into a programmable economy, and what “generative” looks like when it’s live.

Part 1 of the “Generative Token Networks” series

Imagine a token that learns.

Not metaphorically, but literally. A token whose economic policies adapt in real-time. A treasury that evolves with experience. A yield mechanism that improves through constant optimization. A financial instrument that functions less like a static tool and more like a distributed, intelligent organism.

This is the inevitable future of on-chain economic design.

The end of static economics

Traditional tokenomics is built on a fundamentally flawed premise: that a perfect set of economic rules can be designed at launch and remain optimal forever. This assumes markets are predictable and that a pre-programmed set of rules can account for all future scenarios. That assumption has proven to be deeply naive.

Every fixed emission curve and every hardcoded governance rule is a bet that architects at a single point in time can outsmart a system that is capable of learning from the market itself.

Generative Token Networks reject this idea entirely. Instead of encoding fixed rules, generative networks implement economic learning systems. They treat resource allocation and network optimization as continuous problems to be solved, not as a static script to be followed.

Cognitive economics

The core insight is simple: to solve a complex optimization problem, you need a system that can explore and adapt, not just execute a pre-written algorithm. An economy is perhaps the most complex optimization problem of all.

Generative token networks implement what can be called cognitive economics: economic systems that learn, adapt, and develop emergent intelligence at the protocol level.

Consider the architecture:

Economic agents: Specialized autonomous agents act as decision-makers, each optimizing for a specific piece of network health.

Distributed intelligence: No central controller. Instead, intelligence emerges from the interaction of multiple agents contributing specialized knowledge.

Adaptive protocols: Smart contracts that can modify their own parameters based on performance feedback, iterating their way to better outcomes.

The multi-dimensional value problem

Traditional tokens are often measured by a single dimension: price. Generative networks, however, create and measure value across many dimensions at once.

Instead of just tracking price, these systems optimize for a dozen simultaneous variables: maximizing capital efficiency, minimizing risk, coordinating activity across multiple chains, and incentivizing behaviors that create non-linear growth.

No human committee can effectively manage all these dimensions in real-time. But a distributed network of intelligent agents can.

Self-improving capital

This new approach gives rise to the most powerful concept of all: self-improving capital. These are financial systems that become more effective and resilient over time through learning.

Traditional capital allocation is limited by human judgment and bias. Self-improving capital operates without these constraints, continuously optimizing its strategies based on empirical data. This creates a compounding advantage:

Learning accumulates: Every market event becomes data that improves future decisions.

Strategies evolve: Successful approaches are reinforced while failed strategies are abandoned.

Resilience grows: The network learns from market shocks, developing more robust responses for the future.

Eliza know's which side she's on.

What success looks like

A generative token design isn’t a single blueprint. It’s a set of verifiable properties:

Observability: Rich, tamper-evident data on everything from liquidity to incentive ROI.

Actionability: System parameters are actually tunable by agents within set bounds.

Guardrails: Hard limits, DAO kill-switches, and circuit breakers to contain risks.

Plural agents: Multiple specialized agents reduce single points of failure.

Human governance where it counts: Humans set the objectives and bounds; agents perform the tactical work at machine speed.

Risk, alignment, and credibility

Greater autonomy raises critical questions. The design must prevent agents from optimizing for short-term price at the expense of long-term health. Humans must remain in charge of the ultimate goals and budget. And safety must be paramount, with phased rollouts and manual overrides.

The emergence of network intelligence

The most profound possibility is the emergence of genuine network intelligence. As agents become more sophisticated and their interactions more complex, the network itself may begin to exhibit a form of economic intuition that transcends its individual parts, discovering value creation methods that human designers never anticipated.

This would represent a true phase transition: from human-designed markets to emergent economic intelligence.

The future is adaptive

Generative token networks represent a fundamental shift in economic coordination. The same evolutionary pressures that drove the move from command economies to market economies are now driving the move from static markets to adaptive, intelligent ones.

Networks that can think will systematically outcompete those that can only follow a script.

The question isn't if this will happen. The question is who will build it first.

The economic organisms of the future are already beginning to evolve.
