2021 In Review: Traction to Date

Fresh off a December 2020 company offsite, the Alkemi Network core team is excited to announce that we have published our 2022 roadmap!

The next phase of the Alkemi Network protocol will push the innovation frontier forward for DeFi.

Over the next year, we are doubling down on our institution-grade DeFi product and user experience. With the next phase of development, the core team will continue to focus on solving the 3 Cs which are still critical blockers preventing centralized, non-crypto native institutions from adopting DeFi at scale.

A product experience that solves the ‘3 Cs’ is the key to unlocking the institutional ‘wall of money’ to flow into the space. The trillions of capital sitting on the side lines. Not yet on a blockchain.

In order to understand the big initiatives on our roadmap and where we see the future of the space is headed, it’s important to us that we share the ‘why’ behind our decisions with the broader community.

Releasing a feature-enriched Alkemi Earn v2 is our top priority for 2022. Our vision for improved on-chain capital efficiency is a focus area of this development effort. We believe that optimizing the protocol’s capital efficiency is key to unlocking the trillions of capital still sitting off-chain in the ‘CeFi’ world. Funds not yet deployed on protocols like Alkemi Earn.

As part of our v2 product roadmap efforts, we are planning fresh features such as enhanced borrower-lender matching through a Request for Quote (‘RFQ’) interface, allowing interested borrowers to broadcast their capital needs to trusted-counterparty lenders. Other top features in consideration include reducing the cost of capital that currently exists across many DeFi protocols.

On chain credit issuance is the next frontier in DeFi.

Improving the cost of capital (as a borrower on Alkemi Earn) through undercollateralized lending is a high priority goal for the Alkemi Network core team in 2022. The Network aims to lower the current 125% overcollateralization threshold programmatically set on Alkemi Earn (also present on comparable Defi pools) through dynamic collateral mechanisms that we look forward to sharing more about in the coming months.

In addition to the above major features, we are also exploring additional token utility use cases, specialized UI/UX, and advanced reporting & risk management feature functionality — all in the name of enhancing the user experience.

We are keenly aware that these features outlined above require in-depth research and feedback cycles with the ecosystem prior to v2 mainnet release. We intend to involve the community throughout the process, which brings us to the next point….

Without our community, we would not be here. We understand the importance of active community engagement and will continue to increasingly shine the spotlight on the core team’s development efforts as we accelerate the transition to building in public.

With the next phase of the protocol decentralization comes increased tooling and sophistication of protocol governance processes. Increasing on-chain participation is an immediate initiative for the Network as it continues to scale.

In addition to enhanced tooling, our team is exploring additional engagement strategies including delegated voting, ecosystem grant programs, and streamlined DAO decision making.

As the network grows and the ALK token continues to vest into the hands of our stakeholders, we intend for the community to take more ownership of protocol developments and decisions, with an ultimate goal to hand the keys to the protocol governance mechanism.

Crypto compliance is a core theme for 2022. We intend to lead the charge on work in this category.

After a successful launch of the industry’s first trusted counterparty DeFi lending pool, we intend to bring the next phase of our vision to fruition by introducing a framework for compliant liquidity to the industry for widespread adoption. We have a commitment to open source and our mission is to unlock compliant access to DeFi for users on both sides of the CeFi and DeFi aisle.

Through collaboration with custodians, exchanges, wallet providers, fintech firms, and other DeFi protocols, we are initiating compliant standards to unlock increased institutional participation. These ‘DeFi Standards’ will incorporate elements of decentralized identity, KYC/AML interoperability, and shared compliance policy frameworks. Further, we plan to share our protocol’s already peer-reviewed standards for community adoption, which will boost the trust, credibility, and efficiency required for at scale institutional DeFi adoption.

Terraforming all 4 traits of your PlanetZ has a total cost of 600 $PSY since it costs you 150 $PSY per terraformed trait. Half of that get’s burnt forever and the other half flows back into the treasury for future rewards and airdrops. This extracts 2.561.400 $PSY (4269 PlanetZ x 600 $PSY for terraforming) out of the circulation, burns half of it (1.280.700), and therefore leaves us with a remaining circulating supply of only around 1.7mm $PSY.

O mercado das criptomoedas é um mercado muito jovem. Com pouco mais que uma década este mercado está apenas no início da sua história, se compararmos com o mercado bolsista que existe há mais de um século, podemos perceber que ainda estamos numa altura muito embrionária.

É o facto de estarmos perante um mercado tão precoce que temos a oportunidade de entrar muito cedo em algo que se pode vir a estabelecer como um mercado de referência no mundo.

As grandes instituições apenas agora começaram a se interessar e a entrar neste mundo, a quantidade de dinheiro que investem nas criptomoedas corresponde maioritariamente a uma percentagem mínima dos seus portfólios de investimento (existem exceções como a Microstrategy por exemplo), pois consideram que se tratam de ativos ainda muito arriscados, e bem, devido à sua alta volatilidade.

Mas ser arriscado não significa que não possa ser promissor, e se os grandes bancos e fundos de investimento começaram a ter cada vez mais interesse sobre este tema é porque vêm nisto algo que tem potencial para crescer.

A adoção não pára de aumentar, mas continua a ser uma gota de água num enorme oceano, se compararmos a capitalização de mercado das criptomoedas com a capitalização das maiores bolsas mundiais ou com o ouro percebemos que ainda estamos numa fase prematura. Aliás, existem mesmo empresas (como a Apple e a Microsoft por exemplo) que no momento atual ainda têm uma capitalização de mercado superior a todo o universo cripto.

No entanto, se tentarmos estabelecer um padrão entre o nível de adoção das criptomoedas e o nível de adoção da Internet nos anos 90 e 2000 percebemos que estas se assemelham bastante.

Neste gráfico podemos perceber isso mesmo, e mesmo sabendo que as performances passadas não garantem uma performance semelhante no futuro, estes dados permitem-nos perceber o potencial existente nas criptomoedas e o porquê de cada vez mais grandes instituições se estarem a debruçar sobre o assunto e a investir, quer seja através da compra direta de ativos quer seja através do desenvolvimento de projetos nesta área.

As conclusões devem ser tiradas por cada um de nós, mas uma análise criteriosa sobre este assunto deve ser efetuada por cada investidor que se preze, hoje em dia já não se pode passar ao lado deste tema.

In the cryptic years of old, there was said to be a nameless Songhai prince. His one offspring, a daughter, would take his place in royalty upon his death. While subject to speculation, this child was thought to be born with, “The Creator’s blessing,” as a result of her father’s connection to the divine. Her name was Solomon.

Following the Great Flood and the dawn of the Nubians, the Grasslands consisted of an assortment of fractured colonies. Previously high-status Songhai in this region remained at odds. This resulted in bloodshed between warring mini factions that burdened the region’s people for years on end. Common belief deemed unity impossible. That was until one individual changed everything.

Solomon had witnessed firsthand what remarkable leadership was as a daughter of royalty. While she was a commander of her own Nubian clan and mighty army, she denounced the bloodshed of the world around her. She had one goal: unify the Grasslands.

Armed with a silver tongue, Solomon opted for diplomacy rather than decimation. Instead of pillaging enemy clans, she confidently marched upon neighboring colonies in demand of peace. Solomon attempted to visit each leader of the region while onlookers remained skeptical. These kings and queens, who were accustomed to warfare, were caught off guard. A majority of them accepted these diplomatic meetings. Those who refused the offer out of distrust attempted defensive skirmishes. All of them were crushed by Solomon’s army. She became equally feared and revered. As she met with leaders one by one, rumors spread. Some called her, “The Wise.” Others saw her as, “The Peacekeeper.”

Years of Solomon’s negotiations lead to the mending of the Grasslands. As previously hostile clans began to interact with each other, their resources and ideas became freely exchanged. Solomon, who soon became respected as the Noble Queen of the region, possessed an unending cache of wisdom. With it, she sought to empower the Nubian people. One-of-a-kind knowledge in domains such as agriculture, economics, and science propelled Nubian society forward. It became the embodiment of intellectual enlightenment and progress.

The Grasslands’ prominence made Solomon’s name ring around the world. She welcomed all, as Nubian society embraced its intellectual melting pot. But, she was also indomitable in her geopolitical negotiations. Known as a fierce mediator, she remained fearless in the face of leaders from other Bloodlines. Solomon was delicate yet dangerous and put the peaceful progress of the Grasslands above all else.
