Preston had been asking me for days about what I was thinking for the logo of HGHR foundation.

In all honesty, I had nothing, because I had everything. I wasn't sure I wanted a spin-off of the usual green back ground and bold "HIGHER" or just the arrow. But from the beginning, part of my thought process for the foundation was how cool it would be to piggyback on the endless stream of aesthetic twists to the design made by the community.

How would I incorporate Blankspace's abstract concepts with Dmitry's punk rock meets sci-fi style aesthetics and Agrimony's 90s anime + Typography mix?

In the end, for this brief, I didn't come up with a way to mix it all.

My idea was to bounce off core concepts with Claude to quickly draft a brief that makes sense to get started with. Then, as we curate media from a variety of sources as we build out initiatives and co, we'd probably copy some styles and add to the brand's overall identity using contexts specific to our circumstances.

There's a lot of vague babble here but the starting point for this logo looks something like:

HGHR.fdn

I seem to like the idea of easily replicable, typography-based design that can be played with in such a variety of ways.

<img

I have been thinking about what would be the best start for initiatives at HGHR foundation. A lot. Amidst the chaos of life lately, I've been thinking.

A little detour:

I kind of noticed that when I write stuff from mind to draft, I tend to take detours so this first detour is a disclosure. Thanks for understanding. (I'll leave a summary at the top to save your time).

With building HGHR, I've found places where an opportunity for partnership or impact lie quite often. A confirmation bias of sorts.

Dipo is a ghostwriter for many founders within our space, a father of two kids sustaining his family on writing content for Web3 founders too busy to yap. Lately, Dipo has decided to positively impact his sphere of influence by visiting schools for primary school kids that are barely functional.

From my conversation with him, some of these kids have not seen a computer.

This is unfortunately not a new or rare occasion in many parts of Nigeria. This is however, one that HGHR can reach by virtue of this connection.

<img With access to quality resources and crypto natives willing to take on the task of showing the ropes to young teens in Nigeria, I really think there's something here to work on.

Certainly worth a look into partnering with the A.B.E. These two ideas align with the broader vision to:

a) Be a citadel for blockchain education and resources for it in Africa (via the school initiative with Dipo)

b) Become a conversation starter with policy makers and governments across the continent to advocate for actual implementation of policies favorable for our ecosystem in Africa.

I started down a technical path. Then stopped, then started again. So when I add timelines like "I started down a technical path 1 year ago", Keep in mind that I am neither the poster child for Discipline nor Consistency.

Yet, after completing the Cyfrin Updraft DeFi lesson, I didn't want to just keep taking lesson after lesson. I thought rather, that I'd mess around with basic projects; an airdrop contract here, a marketplace there. But, somehow I found that there were still a lot of gaps in my knowledge of code and smart contracts.

I should point out that I have no previous coding background before Solidity (It's one hell of a first programming language).

Anyways, as a result I paused for a while. Till my interest in making $100 here, $500 there from smart contract audits piqued. However, once again I'm face to face with the reality: It takes practice.

No matter what "It" is.

Interestingly, I discovered the previous, haphazard months of just looking at code and following along with tutorials honed my eye for reading and understanding code.

This level up happened under my nose and I love it. I sincerely never thought I'd look at code and understand what it SHOULD be doing vs what it's ACTUALLY doing. I felt so cool submitting the finding for my first practice audit for an inheritable smart wallet.

Fast Forward to one week later (right about now), I started a proper competitive audit. I've currently not found any vulnerabilities (more likely they are flying over my head) so there goes making $200 on my first try.

I did find some interesting things:

Code with too many "If" statements is fucking annoying to read. Looks like someone intentionally going out of their way to confuse me.

Good natspec/comment formatting is heavenly.

Maths is once again biting my ass (precision calculations and all that).

Knowing how to read code like natural language is pretty damn cool.

To be honest, I didn't have any expectations of finding H/M vulnerability bugs, but I kind of like the experience of looking at code and seeing nothing, knowing fully well that I will learn from the findings that get submitted.

"IF" you see this, this is an "IF" joke. Have a pleasant day!

..."You can just do things". To me, it's the kind of optimism I can get behind...

A statement that has been coming up quite often, in my mind, and everywhere else lately, is "You can just do things".

To me, it's the kind of optimism I can get behind. If I were to be known for anything through my social media, especially Twitter and Warpcast where the entity "kuusho" exists, It'd be an inconsistency in what I'm known for.

At first I was trying to write think pieces that sound smart. Then, I started speaking regularly on The Modern Market. After that, I made founder/project spotlights, clippings from twitter spaces, worked as a community manager/Collab guy for an Ordinal project. a marketing manager for an onchain guild launchpad before getting fired and returning as a ghostwriter for its founder.

Now, I'm not even known. I write almost no content (even though I briefly tried to be a MegaETH expert till I discovered that to be a fully formed ecosystem).

However, I've decided to just do things. So, I'm starting a foundation.

I'm not sure what that means or if that puts me in a box of expectations for the foundation. Nor am I sure if that means it has to be boring, bland and operate like a "appearances first" organization.

My dream is not to appear to be helping the whole world. It's not to be an activist or a voice for the people. I am not a freedom fighter.

My dream is to provide a platform for people to aim higher. A place where people who just do things can do things.

This doesn't mean we don't care for people as anyone would see from our first few announcements. It simply means I want to build an "aesthetics forward" brand that presents being optimistic as being cool.

HGHR foundation can concession hospitals AND build skate parks. We can host gaming events AND workshops across Africa teaching people how to set up onchain businesses. "Foundation" for us means "starting point" not "tax exemption" or "money laundering".

But it starts with action.

THE BEGINNING.

It didn't take long after speaking with my legal and compliance co-founder to discover how little I know.

From scary abbreviations, to jurisdictional considerations for setting up the entity. There is no meme, I am clueless.

Certain crypto native individuals will ask the obvious question: Why register?

The answer is in my starting point itself. When you're from Nigeria, every single action is checked and questioned for credibility. What this means is, every action taken by myself or this entity will be scrutinized for loopholes at every chance, a problem I do not mind having.

Although this part is now mostly done, the door to more complexities and challenges is now open. Let's see if I can "just do things" my way to a functional organization that grows into the coolest foundation ever.

I'm in the kitchen if you need me.
