The Entropy testnet is live!

Today marks a significant milestone for the Entropy Network and the broader blockchain community as we proudly announce the soft-launch of our first testnet. This initial release focuses on our decentralized signing solution, which lays the groundwork for our vision of autonomous agents that will redefine user interaction with blockchain technologies. Find technical details about the testnet release here.

The Entropy Network began with a dual insight into the future of blockchain: interacting with the blockchain can be cumbersome, and autonomous agents—intelligent programs capable of independent operation—are set to revolutionize the internet.

This testnet is a tangible step towards unlocking the full capabilities of the Entropy protocol. It allows developers and users to engage with a decentralized signer and allows developers to experiment with building Entropy programs, which allow for constraints to be created around the capabilities of keys. We plan to significantly reduce the friction and fragmentation currently experienced across the crypto landscape.

The challenges of blockchain fragmentation and the complexities of key management have long acted as barriers to wider adoption, from bridging between networks to managing multiple wallet apps to switching RPCs. Traditional methods of managing cryptographic keys have remained largely static since Bitcoin's inception, often leading to an error-prone and insecure user experience. The Entropy Network will address these issues head-on by simplifying the signing experience without sacrificing security.

Our decentralized signer is just the beginning. It represents the foundational layer upon which context-aware autonomous agents can be built. Agents built atop the Entropy Network can facilitate a range of activities from routine transactions to complex financial operations, executed according to user-defined preferences and within secure, customizable parameters.

As we roll out this testnet, we invite developers, enthusiasts, and visionaries to join us in testing, refining, and ultimately expanding the capabilities of our platform. Your feedback and collaboration are crucial as we move closer to a decentralized future where blockchain is accessible and seamlessly integrated into our digital lives. Visit our docs to learn more about how to create Entropy.

Together, we’ll push the boundaries of what blockchain technology can achieve. Join us on this journey to transform the digital landscape, making it more intuitive, secure, and empowering for everyone.

The Entropy Network will radically change the way people interact with the blockchain, all without them even knowing. Entropy started with a realization and a prediction about the future of blockchain technologies. The realization was that interacting with the blockchain is painful. The prediction is that autonomous agents, or intelligent programs, are going to change the entire internet.

Entropy started by honing in on a single necessary use-case: custody via threshold signing. But as the technology matured, the full depth of its potential became more apparent. The Entropy protocol unlocks the creation of context aware autonomous agents which allow for a vast array of possibilities that fundamentally redefine the friction and fragmentation of the current state of crypto.

Blockchain technology has made incredible strides, becoming faster, more flexible, and more secure. Developers can leverage powerful primitives to create novel on-chain experiences that can radically change the financial system and society for the better. However, this rapid evolution has led to increasing fragmentation across different wallets, applications, and blockchains and not to mention the incompatibilities between Web2 and Web3. While fragmentation is an inevitable part of growth, it has created challenges and friction for users trying to navigate and leverage the full potential of Web3.

At the heart of this problem lies an often overlooked issue: signing experience. Since the early days of Bitcoin, the way users manage their cryptographic keys - the origin of all authority - has remained largely unchanged. Existing key management solutions can be confusing, error-prone, and fragile, forcing users into an adversarial experience that undermines the very promise of Web3 technology and acting as a blocker to mainstream adoption.

Entropy’s Solution: Autonomous Agents

Enter the Entropy Network - a decentralized network that aims to redefine how users interact with blockchains through the power of autonomous agents. These intelligent software entities can act independently on behalf of users, executing tasks efficiently and securely according to user-defined rules and constraints.

These agents stand to redefine how users fundamentally interact with blockchains. Agents help us move beyond the fragile, input dependent transaction-based model, where you give specific orders and have to sign every interaction, towards a more dynamic and context-aware paradigm. Herein lies Entropy's unique proposition – a decentralized network that not only promises enhanced security and authority differentiation but introduces a new model for user and developer experience through autonomy, delegation, and convenience.

With Entropy, users can delegate tasks to their agents, which operate within customizable boundaries to ensure assets and data remain secure. Whether it's handling routine transactions, conducting complex financial operations, or any other blockchain-related task, Entropy agents are designed to work seamlessly in the background, adapting to each user's unique needs, whether the user is online or not.

As blockchain technology continues to evolve, the next generation of groundbreaking innovations will be driven not just by advancements in scaling or interoperability, but by the rise of intelligent, adaptive agents. By providing a robust foundation for these agents to thrive, the Entropy Network is positioning itself at the forefront of this transformative shift.

The Information-Agency Loop: a feedback loop between the Entropy network, autonomous agents, and the broader internet.

Implementation and Applications

Entropy envisions a future where user interactions are seamlessly facilitated by autonomous agents, engendering a symbiotic relationship between user intent and software capability. By mitigating the friction of conventional transactional models and providing a robust framework for secure, delegated action, Entropy's network lays the foundation for a host of novel applications such as:

Enhancing custody solutions

Facilitating automated delegation

Programmable keys

Agents that can sign anything

Imagine a future where your crypto wallet not only holds your assets but actively works to optimize your holdings, seek out investment opportunities, and even conduct trades on your behalf – all according to your predefined strategies and risk tolerances. Your votes are cast according to your preferences and you can allow others to spend on your behalf. These are just examples of the many revolutionary applications made possible by Entropy's autonomous agent framework.

The next generation of blockchain-based experiences will not be defined by speed or cost, but rather by an agent’s ability to reason about its environment.

Become an Accomplice

In order to fully realize the potential of autonomous agents in the blockchain ecosystem, engagement and collaboration from the entire crypto community are essential. Entropy invites developers, users, and visionaries to join in exploring the boundless opportunities this new paradigm offers. Together, we can reshape the landscape of Web3, making it more user-friendly, efficient, and empowering than ever before.

Discover yourselves. Don’t let yourselves be violated!” – Renzo Novatore

Self-custody is supposed to be a pillar of Crypto. Since the earliest days of the industry, it’s a vision many assumed would always be at the forefront of priorities. Sectors like DeFi and NFT tech grow exponentially and with seemingly endless creativity - while the infrastructure around custody remains stagnant since the launch of multi-sigs in early 2017, due to the complexity of the problem.

Tackling decentralized custody isn’t just about creating a robust and secure network to facilitate permissions. It’s about intrinsically understanding how to pioneer a brand new design space around decentralized institutions and their participants, and delivering products that meet the needs of all crypto native users.

Entropy is here to radically redesign crypto custody, empowering the rise of truly decentralized institutions and their participants. Whether a DAO, VC firm, corporation or treasury, we are deploying infrastructure primitives that remove the inefficiency of existing crypto custody solutions. With Entropy, decentralized institutions will outperform their predecessors, moving value and resources in a truly trustless and radically more efficient workflow.

Backed by the very best :)

To this effect, we’re delighted to share that we’ve finished raising a $25M Seed round to deliver on our vision to pioneer a design space for decentralized institutions, their participants, and all crypto-native folks.
