            <title><![CDATA[Help us shape the future of Conquest.eth]]></title>

Further down we write is coming up, so scroll if you are only interested in the new stuff :)</p><h1 id="h-a-recap" class="text-4xl font-header !mt-8 !mb-4 first:!mt-0 first:!mb-0"><strong>A recap</strong></h1><h2 id="h-faction-mod" class="text-3xl font-header !mt-8 !mb-4 first:!mt-0 first:!mb-0"><strong>Faction Mod</strong></h2><p>In May last year (time flies!) we released Conquest, Faction edition. We were very happy to partner with the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://fusionist.io/">Fusionist</a> team and while the game has several issues like UI bugs due to the sheer number of planets and fleets that players had to deal with (there was much more token distributed this instance than any other in the past), we learnt a lot from it.</p><p>We also had a lot of multi-accounting issues that we did not plan for. This was due to the fixed entry price, a big departure from what made Conquest.eth immune to it prior to that. We should have known better, especially with the reward value this time.</p><p>Having said that, the game was great to watch and players enjoyed overall based on the feedback we received.</p><p>The conclusion is that the faction system has proven to be a viable mechanics for conquest, especially the balancing worked well ensuring that each faction could win. We are considering adding this to the new version.</p><h2 id="h-technology-stack" class="text-3xl font-header !mt-8 !mb-4 first:!mt-0 first:!mb-0"><strong>Technology stack</strong></h2><p>Once reward were distributed, we set ourselves to focus on the new version. We took the opportunity to re-evaluate our technology choice. While we have been thinking of reaching a wider audience than crypto we still think the technology of smart contract is the right one for our game as it allow it to scale. Yes blockchains, contrary to what we might expect due to slow block time, etc... have a unique advantage: the design behind smart contract and gas accounting is made so there are no hard limit to players and computation. You just have to design for it.</p><p>So we looked a various Blockchain technologies, exploring ecosystem like <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://www.starknet.io/">Starknet</a> and <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://fuel.network/">Fuel</a> but in the end we went back to build on the EVM. It still is the right technology for what we are building, plus we already have many of our tech stack working with it. It was an interesting detour though: Starknet have a vibrant onchain game ecosystem and Fuel has a unique approach for scaling, moving more responsibility from the chain to the application layer.</p><h2 id="h-a-new-game" class="text-3xl font-header !mt-8 !mb-4 first:!mt-0 first:!mb-0"><strong>A new game</strong></h2><p>We also explored a new game idea that we showed at <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://devconnect.org/">Devconnect</a>. <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://bomber.world">Bomber.world</a>, it was great to get it play-tested and got good feedback for it. And while we are still planning to launch it, we are not ready yet — we need a blockchain that's both fast and reliable, and getting both together is still a challenge. We see it as a middle ground between heavy but truly social game like <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://www.eveonline.com/">Eve Online</a> and casual strategy game with shallow social connections like <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://supercell.com/en/games/clashofclans/">Clash of Clan</a>. With Conquest, you get both casual game play and deep social strategy.</p><p>In February we also explored the use of agent like <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://openclaw.ai/">Openclaw</a> to play the game without human intervention. We built a cli and an associated <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://github.com/etherplay/conquest-eth/blob/main/skills/tools-conquest/SKILL.md">Skill.md</a> file. Anyone can simply feed their agent such markdown file and this is enough for the agent to start playing the game. We released <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://rocketh.dev/hardhat-deploy/">hardhat-deploy v2</a> and are working toward a new release of <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://jolly-roger.eth.limo/">jolly-roger</a>. This, like its previous version will form the basis of our game code.</p><h1 id="h-whats-new" class="text-4xl font-header !mt-8 !mb-4 first:!mt-0 first:!mb-0">What's new?</h1><p>I guess you are wondering when conquest new version will see the light if at all ? The good news is that we got some great new UI in progress. This is not final. But no guarantee yet. <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://community.etherplay.io">Join our discord</a> though to get the latest info and motivate us to get there fast :)</p><h2 id="h-what-about-the-mechanics" class="text-3xl font-header !mt-8 !mb-4 first:!mt-0 first:!mb-0"><strong>What about the mechanics ?</strong></h2><p>While the UI changes drastically, the game core mechanics are still similar to the original except for few points, some of which we are still exploring:</p><ul><li><p>24h turn. instead of a real-time game, the new version is turn based and while we can easily change the duration, we are targeting a 24h turn for the main game mode. So Instead of having fleet travelling in real time, they move discretely, 1 day at a time.</p></li><li><p>no teleportation. In the new version, while player will initially be able to chose any star system to first colonise, they will then need to expand by sending fleet away. This is in contrast to the original conquest where player can always exit planets and acquire a new one far away with the token they get back after the exit.</p></li><li><p>avatar progression: In the new version player will be represented by avatars that will progress along the player. This will form the basis of a new risk-system: Get your avatar captured and you lose (some of) its progression.</p></li></ul><p>Some things that we are still on the fence about and might be modes of play that we intend to play test:</p><ul><li><p>single price entry + lobby.<br>Instead or along an infinite version, we are thinking to have competitions with buy-in (think like poker) and to prevent the use of multi-account, we will use the latest zk technology to verify ID while keeping privacy (you prove you have a passport but nobody, not even us sees it, like magic).</p></li><li><p>no teleportation.<br>we are still the fence on this one, one advantage of <code>"no teleportation"</code> is that it reduce collision where 2 or more players chose to acquire the same star system at the same time, which can happen in a 24h turn game version.</p></li><li><p>factions VS organic alliances.<br>We like the faction system, but we know some players prefers the original alliance system that allow for organic relationship and mercenary roles. Our thinking for now is to support both mode, and maybe even support the combined factions + no-faction as an option.</p></li></ul><p>Some things might require more work and will probably see the light of day later</p><ul><li><p>single player mode.<br>A single player mode is something we are really keen to have. It can either be a set of scenario, or a complete campaign with a story. We tested the use of agent earlier this year and while there is still some work to do to make them smart enough, their ability to generate coherent language can make for a great single player game of diplomacy.</p></li><li><p>idle mechanics.<br>A 24h turn game like Conquest means there is nothing to do once you set your plan, and so we are thinking to add extra gameplay element similar to Idle game where you can always come back earlier to maximize your empire.             <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As we <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://x.com/conquest_eth/status/1905284831648293360">briefly mentioned</a> a new instance of Conquest.eth is coming but we decided to postpone the launch date to May 21st to give us more time to prepare for it.</p><p>And we are excited to introduce with it, new mechanics and features!</p><p>We partnered with <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://fusionist.io/">Fusionist</a> for this upcoming release and the game will run on their <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://ace.fusionist.io/">Endurance network</a>.</p><h2 id="h-a-recap-from-last-release" class="text-3xl font-header"><strong>A recap from last release</strong></h2><p>As you might know, we released a instance of Conquest on <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://www.gnosischain.com/">Gnosis network</a> back in February, the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://2025-1.conquest.game/">2025.1 edition</a>. For that previous version, we kept the same mechanics of the original conquest with the exception of the instant exit at the end of the reward session. It was great!</p><p>- We witnessed intense battles, especially between the 2 top players</p><p>- We launched a <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://x.com/conquest_eth/status/1888999490616476159">fully autonomous agent</a> that got used by various players based on its incentive mechanics alone. No server!</p><p>- We tested our tool <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://fuzd.dev">FUZD</a> and it worked great!</p><p>In this upcoming release, we are going to introduce new features and mechanics. These have been designed with our v2 in mind but we are excited to see how they work in the current version.</p><p>Our goal is again, to gather feedback and learn from our players. We can't wait to share more on the v2 by the way :)</p><h2 id="h-fusionist-endurance" class="text-3xl font-header"><br><strong>Fusionist / Endurance</strong><br></h2><p>The team behind Fusionist with whom we partnered has their own EVM L1: <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://ace.fusionist.io/">Endurance</a>. And that's where we will launch Conquest this time.</p><p>They have a very active community and we are looking forward to working with them. They are also working on a space-theme game by the way. if you want to know more check them out: <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://fusionist.io/">https://fusionist.io/</a></p><p>In order to make it easy for players to get all they need to play on their network, we will be introducing an entry pass system available on the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://www.base.org/">Base network</a>. Each pass will cost some $ (around 5-10$) and will give you enough ACE token needed to operate on Endurance (the token is not easily available in all countries). This will also act as an anti-sybil mechanism needed for this version of the game. More on that below.</p><h2 id="h-what-are-the-new-features" class="text-3xl font-header"><strong>What are the new features ?</strong></h2><h3 id="h-in-game-chat" class="text-2xl font-header"><strong>in-game chat!</strong></h3><p>While we continue to work on our old conquest code base, we are working toward a v2 and something we have been building on is an in-game real-time chat system. We wanted that for a very long time and happy to have it working for that new release. This also include faction-specific chat too!</p><p>This will allow players to communicate without leaving the game, making the experience more fun and might even help planning for universe domination!</p><h3 id="h-factions" class="text-2xl font-header"><strong>Factions!</strong></h3><p>The biggest and most game-changing features we are introducing though is the Faction system. This is something we have designed for our v2 for several reasons but mainly to make it easier for new player to join the game without the fear of being destroyed right away. You don't start alone anymore!</p><p>In this system, there will be a fixed number of pre-established factions that player will need to choose. Upon joining the faction, the player will be given token to stake on planets for that faction.</p><p>Factions members cannot attack each other and cannot send friendly spaceships to other factions. Think of it like pre-established alliances. Player of the same factions are then pushed to work together to ensure their faction victory.</p><p>And to ensure interesting balance of power, we are also introducing a system where less successful faction get more token to stake, encouraging new players to join these instead.</p><h2 id="h-a-new-staking-token-model" class="text-3xl font-header"><strong>A New Staking Token Model</strong></h2><p>As mentioned earlier, to ensure player get all they need to play on the Endurance network, we will be introducing an Entry Pass to be purchased on the Base network.</p><p>This entry pass will give player enough ACE token (Endurance native token) to play the game. The entry pass also serves as sybil protection as without it, player won't be able to join any faction necessary to play the game.</p><p>So instead of staking real $ for each planet they want to acquire, players will instead be paying a single entry pass which will give them access to factions. Upon joining a faction, player will then be given "staking tokens" over time that they can then use like in previous Conquest instances.</p><p>And to balance factions power, the less a faction has in-game stake, the more it will get further stake token to be distributed to its members. So new players will be incentivized to join these faction as they get a better chance at establishing their empire in that faction compared to the more powerful ones. We hope this make the game more interesting while keeping a sense of fairness.</p><h2 id="h-rewards" class="text-3xl font-header"><strong>Rewards</strong></h2><p>While in previous Conquest version, reward where always given to individual players based on their success compared to other players, in this new version, the rewards will also reward overall Faction success.</p><p>So players will need to ensure their faction lead, but they will also be rewarded individually based on their share of the faction victory</p><p>And we will have $8,000 of reward this time!</p><h2 id="h-what-else" class="text-3xl font-header"><strong>What else ?</strong></h2><p>As mentioned, we are working toward a v2 and can't wait to have a prototype. This is a full rewrite of conquest with the learning from the past 5 years. In particular we are introducing the idea explored with <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://stratagems.world">Stratagems</a> of daily commit+reveal scheme. This will allow player to play at their own pace and be assured they can't be attacked in the middle of the night.</p><p>In other words, we want to <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://ethcc.io/archives/designing-permissionless-games-for-humans">make our games more human friendly</a>.</p><p>We are also revamping the UI and style. You can subscribe to it by staking planets for it or sending it xDai. If you then lose a planet to an enemy, you can request Yakuza’s help. A much nicer experience than the previous agent where you had to register and top-up your account.</p></li><li><p>We also now enabled multi-staking that allow you to stake on multiple planets at once. Much easier and safer to establish your empire.</p></li><li><p>Furthermore we removed the mint step and you can simply stake with xdai directly.</p></li><li><p>previous winners can now claim some part of the tokens they are entitled to. The only caveats is that the token being given cannot be converted to xdai until it remains in game for 6 days + exit time (3 days). </p></li></ul><p>Also, remember that the game start with a special "1 month session" that will allow player to exit immediately at the end of it. They will have one day to do so. The "1 month session" ends on Wednesday, 5 March 2025 at 10:00 UTC and the Infinity Version starts on Thursday 6 March 2025 at 10:00 UTC. Not only do they give 200$ distributed on their planets, they also setup a campaign for Conquest so player can gather Merits points.</p><p>This is how it will work</p><p>Player have 2 main tasks:</p><ul><li><p>stake on planets</p></li><li><p>conquer other players' active planet</p></li></ul><p>The counting start today and every week on Tuesday we will reward player based on their task completion that week and they will get a proportion of Merits points equal to their standing.</p><p>Note that planet stakes will be measured in term of stake amount, not in number of planet, so bigger planets will gather more points</p><p>Planet captures will also be measured in term of stake, so the bigger planet you capture the bigger the points.</p><p>We do not have the exact number yet but the idea is:</p><p>you get some points for each $ staked on a planet</p><p>And get even more points for each $ stake of planet captured from other players</p><p></p><p>Then we will also reward merits point, on top of the $ prize for each Blockscout planet successfully exited or held until the end.</p><div class="relative header-and-anchor"><h2 id="h-new-stuff">New stuff</h2></div><p>We have also been working on something new, first of its kind type of thing and we can't wait to release it in the next few days. <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://x.com/wighawag/status/1884994087084081637">Here is a little tease on twitter.</a> </p><p>We have also started working on a <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" class="dont-break-out" href="https://www.dreams.fun/">daydreams agent</a> for Conquest but did not find the time to finish. While you'll probably want to conquer the universe, in the past, players have played different roles, like selling their spaceships and avoiding conflict or clustering in alliances.</p><p>And if you know how to develop a smart contract, the sky is the limit. The spaceships market place is one example but you might want to think of more possibilities, especially with the unique alliance system that Conquest.eth have. Every alliance can have its own membership rules for example.             <description><![CDATA[ We are releasing a new instance of Conquest on Gnosis with prizes!]]></description>
            <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Hi everyone! Here is a long overdue update on&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://conquest.game/">Conquest</a>. If you follow our&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://conquest.game/devlog/">devlog</a>, you'll know that our plan has been to improve Conquest's tooling and to explore new gameplay mechanics.</p><p>This is what we have been doing these last 2 years. We explored a 24h simultaneous turn mechanic with&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://stratagems.world/">Stratagems</a>&nbsp;and some other game prototypes with the goal of making our games even more human-friendly: slow-paced and social. We presented this topic under the title:&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://ethcc.io/archives/designing-permissionless-games-for-humans">"Designing Permissionless Games For Humans"</a>&nbsp;in our talk at ETHCC last year.</p><p>We also built new tools, all open-source as usual, including&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://fuzd.dev">FUZD</a>, that let us execute player secret moves without ourselves knowing them beforehand, and our&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://github.com/jolly-roger-eth/ethereum-indexer">client-side indexer</a>&nbsp;that reduces maintenance for games like Stratagems to the bare minimum: no indexer server to rely on!</p><div class="relative header-and-anchor"><h2 id="h-what-is-conquest"><strong>What is Conquest?</strong></h2></div><p>Conquest.eth is a open-source game of diplomacy with no time limit nor limit on the number of players. It is permissionless and persistent. To achieve this, it requires players to stake $ for each planet they want to acquire. This, in turn, makes these planets produce spaceships (the only in-game resource) that players can then use to attack or defend other players' planets. Spaceships sent this way take between real-time hours and days to arrive. Upon winning battles, players can acquire other players' planets. Then, when they decide to, they can exit the planet and get the stake back from it. This takes 3 real-time days though, and they thus need to ensure they can defend the planet until that time.</p><p>As you can imagine, this game is not for the faint-hearted, but that's what makes the game special and thrilling. Ask previous players and they will tell you it feels like you play in a real universe inside ours where mistakes have real-world consequences. Be prepared and enjoy!</p><div class="relative header-and-anchor"><h2 id="h-so-what-is-new-in-conquest"><strong>So what is new in Conquest?</strong></h2></div><p>Paradoxically, not much. This upcoming release is a re-release of the same game you might have played in 2021 or 2022 except for bug fixes (AllianceRegistry is now fixed!) and general improvements (better support for wallets, etc.). For those new to it, it will be a great opportunity to experience the unique gameplay of Conquest, and for veterans, we are confident you'll enjoy Conquest again with new stories to tell. And for us, it is an opportunity to revive the community and get fresh feedback on the game moving forward. On that note, we invite you to&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://community.etherplay.io/">join our Discord</a>.</p><p>While the game itself remains the same, there have been some important changes behind the scenes. First, we now use our new tool: FUZD that we tested with Stratagems. Not only does it prevent us for knowing your fleet destination, it also simplifies the user experience of sending fleets as there is no need to top-up the agent-service; it is taken care of automatically when sending the fleets. Furthermore, we simplified our deployment process and the basic alliances and the spaceship marketplace plugin are now embedded in the game client. The plugin system still lets you import third-party plugins though; similarly, you can still create your own alliance smart contract and alliance management website. We actually encourage you to do this to get an edge.&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://knowledge.conquest.game/">See our doc for more details</a>&nbsp;or&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://community.etherplay.io/">contact us</a>&nbsp;directly for help.</p><p>In terms of gameplay, we also added something new. Let me explain.</p><p>Conquest had 4 versions prior to this one. 2 alphas in 2021, plus 1 beta and the "DEFCON" edition in 2022. Only the latter was launched as designed, that is permissionless and persistent. And while we consider the latter a successful launch (it is, after all, one of the few on-chain games that embraces the medium to its full extent and will remain on Gnosis chain forever) it was not easy to attract players to come and play for 2 reasons:</p><ol><li><p>There were no extra rewards from the base game.</p></li><li><p>The game demanded 24/7 attention non-stop and exiting the game required careful diplomatic maneuvering.</p></li></ol><p>That's where a slight change of mechanics comes in. This new version will also be persistent but will start with a 1-month session mode, where players will get extra rewards, including our beloved sponsor planets (that players need to capture and hold for getting the reward placed on them).</p><p>And once the 1-month period is over, players will be given the choice to exit immediately. They will have 24 hours to make that decision, after which the infinite mode will start for eternity. So if you feel like you can continue your strategy for the long run, you will be able to. But if you feel like stopping after 1 month, the choice is yours.</p><p>Note that we intend to look for new ways to engage with those who choose to continue.</p><div class="relative header-and-anchor"><h2 id="h-what-kind-of-rewards-will-there-be"><strong>What kind of rewards will there be?</strong></h2></div><p>We intend to continue with the 2 types of rewards we used in our previous releases: "planet rewards" and "leaderboard rewards".</p><div class="relative header-and-anchor"><h3 id="h-planet-rewards"><strong>Planet rewards</strong></h3></div><p>The planet rewards will consist of various sponsor prizes placed on random planets at certain intervals. The goal for players interested in capturing the prizes on these planets is to capture them and either exit successfully or hold them until the end of the 1-month session. This reward spices up the game as it creates points of contention on the map. And if you know us, we love drama ;-)</p><p>We have so far 2 sponsors for this:</p><p><a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://www.blockscout.com/">Blockscout</a>&nbsp;is giving $200 in total that we will position on various planets at different times. They are also going to launch their&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://www.blog.blockscout.com/blockscout-merits-rewarding-block-explorer-skills/">Merits points program</a>&nbsp;for players playing the game. More details will come soon. Grateful to have them onboard. We are using their open-source blockchain explorer locally while developing and we are happy to have them supporting our game.</p><p><a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://soccerverse.com/">Soccerverse</a>, a fun decentralized football management game, live on mainnet, is giving $500 worth of football clubs in total that we will also disperse in the universe over time. Soccerverse is made by&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://xaya.io/">Xaya</a>, the team behind&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://xaya.io/huntercoin-legacy">Huntercoin</a>, an inspiration for us and a team that has continuously supported us. We are happy to discuss any kind of partnerships.</p><div class="relative header-and-anchor"><h3 id="h-leaderboard-rewards"><strong>Leaderboard rewards</strong></h3></div><p>The second type of reward is based on the amount of stake players are controlling in the game. This will be shown in-game in the form of a leaderboard. And contrary to previous launches, the reward will be linear to remove the incentive for players to combine their planets into one account in order to take first place. Furthermore, a time element is added and the scoring will thus be based on both the stake controlled and the time the stake stays in the hands of each player. It is comparable to liquidity incentive pools. And to give players starting later a fair chance, we would only start the timer later in the session, after 10 days or more. We will keep you updated.</p><p>For the leaderboard rewards, we currently put in $1,000 that will be given to all players with enough points earned through the system. More details will come at launch.</p><div class="relative header-and-anchor"><h2 id="h-when-does-it-start-and-what-do-i-need"><strong>When does it start and what do I need?</strong></h2></div><p>We intend to launch the game on February 3rd. We thus recommend you play on Desktop.</p><p>You'll also need some&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://docs.gnosischain.com/about/tokens/xdai/">XDAI</a>&nbsp;(1 XDAI = $1) on the&nbsp;<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://www.gnosischain.com/">Gnosis chain</a>. XDAI is used to stake on the planets with a range between 1 and 12 XDAI per planet. You'll also need some XDAI to pay for the network fee, but this is relatively small.</p><p>Note again, that the amount you stake can be taken by other players if they manage to capture your planets. So while if you play your cards well, you can leave the game with more than you put in, there is a chance that you lose more.</p><p>Our rewards will balance things a bit as they make the game positive sum, but the risk of losing is still very present. We believe this is what makes the game unique and even more thrilling. You have been warned :)</p><p>::: info For previous round winners for whom we owe $ worth of Etherplay token (as we called it), we will offer you the choice of withdrawing some of it in the form of "Free Play Token" that can only be converted back to XDAI after a continuous 6 day in-game use.</p><p>You are free to skip this though, and your previous winnings will be given at another oportunity, ideally when we are ready for a new release. This will also be the place where day-to-day announcements will take place and where you might make first contact with other players.             <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We are <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://etherplay.io/">Etherplay</a>, an open-source game studio established in 2016, dedicated to crafting fun games only possible thanks to blockchain technology, that is: <strong>permissionless and persistent.</strong> These are games without admin or server, where player actions drive their evolution entirely on-chain.</p><p>Nowadays, they're often referred to as "<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://0xparc.org/blog/autonomous-worlds">Autonomous Worlds</a>" but we've been creating such games long before this term became common. Our journey began in 2016 with our <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://etherplay.io/blog/etherplay-a-provably-fair-skill-game-platform/">verifiable arcade machine</a>, which gained traction in early 2017. From there, we delved into <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://etherplay.io/blog/our-first-unstoppable-game-tug-of-war/">fully on-chain games by mid-2017</a> and eventually ventured into persistent on-chain games, or Autonomous Worlds, with <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://ethernal.land/">Ethernal</a> in 2019.</p><p>Through our experiences, we've learned a great deal. By early 2020, we realized we could reduce on-chain gas demand by scaling gameplay over time and emphasizing social coordination while eliminating grinding mechanics. This led to the birth of <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://conquest.game">Conquest.eth</a>, featuring a minimalist core gameplay that fostered a unique social experience, where collaboration was key. It took two years of development, including two alpha and one beta phases, to finally launch the first persistent version of Conquest in April 2022. Then, in <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://etherplay.io/blog/conquest-is-open-source/">October 2023</a>, we removed our admin keys, which were only used for bug fixes, making Conquest arguably the second live autonomous world after <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://xaya.io/huntercoin-legacy">Huntercoin</a>.</p><p>In 2023, our focus shifted primarily to building tools aimed at minimizing maintenance so that launching autonomous worlds becomes a smoother process. This resulted in two projects:</p><ul><li><p>"<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://github.com/jolly-roger-eth/ethereum-indexer">ethereum-indexer</a>": A modular JavaScript indexer framework written in TypeScript, capable of running in browsers and catching up from remote snapshots if needed. </p></li><li><p>"<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://fuzd.dev/">FUZD</a>": A commit+reveal system designed to conceal player actions from hosts until it's time to reveal.</p></li></ul><p>Both tools are currently in the alpha stage and are being utilized for our latest game, "<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://stratagems.world/">Stratagems</a>." We're constantly refining them as we speak. We also maintain a template featuring these tools in a neat package that we use to get started on new projects: <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://jolly-roger.eth.limo/">Jolly-Roger</a>. Handy for hackathons.</p><p>In 2024, our primary focus will be launching games, and we're excited to soon release a play-test of <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://stratagems.world/">Stratagems</a>. It explores a unique yet pervasive approach to composability, which we refer to as "<a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow ugc" class="dont-break-out" href="https://etherplay.io/blog/natural-composability/">Natural Composability</a>," and we're eager to see what other games can be built upon this foundation.
