Hi, what do you go by and what is your EVMavericks #?

Yo, I am EVM #1043 and I go by titey or titus.

When and how did you get into crypto?

I got into crypto when Bitcoin originally spiked to $1K following a US congressional hearing in November 2013. My co-worker was tweeting about it and right away I knew it was something special. My wife's family is from overseas and I understood the challenges they had both transferring money internationally and securing their assets during times of conflict. I was buying Bitcoin through Coinbase and Circle for the next few years before learning about Ethereum. The ability to use applications on top of the blockchain and the promise of proof of stake caused me begin investing in 2016.

How did you get into EVMavericks?

I am the proud recipient of my EVM from the raffle that happened during the launch. I was a heavy lurker of r/ethfinance. I do not post regularly (or at all) but love to read and learn from others. I was not apart of an NFT community yet so I was really happy to be welcomed into the EVMavericks.

How has your stay been in crypto and EVMavericks? any fond memories that you wanna share?

I feel at home within the Ethereum community as it aligns most with my values and what I want the world to be in the future. Through EVMavericks, I have found a place where I can be more comfortable posting my questions and thoughts and it has led to more meaningful interactions than what I could get on other platforms. My fondest memory was being invited to stay at the RocketPool community house for ETHDenver and going skiing afterwards with @The-A-word and @austonst. I have received a ton of help from members with my validator and it makes me feel good to be able to support creator's within the community like @heeey, @TheBenMeadows, @NaeNaeBaby_ETH, @doomfuzz_eth, and others.

What content do you usually like to read and learn about? Any favorite topics or anything goes?

My passion lies in data engineering and analytics. I spend a lot of time on @Dune just looking through dashboards and studying others query structures and methods for calculating metrics (boring right?). I listen to The Daily Gwei and Bankless on a daily basis to keep up with what is new in the space. Outside of crypto, I read a lot about fantasy football and sports betting. I am the reigning champion of the EVMavericks fantasy football league and looking to repeat.

Not boring at all! can you tell us more about dashboards and dune? What catches your interest? Maybe some tips for people who are curious about that too and looking get into studying the same structures, where would they start? Or anything else that you feel like sharing from that!

My day job is data analytics so it is my way of contributing to the community. I love the availability of blockchain data and how it can be used to verify truth from fiction. Dune makes is so easy to get started. You can easily view others queries and they have a lot of AI tools to help you find relevant data. SQL is such an easy programming language to learn even if you do not know any other programming.

How does it feel to be the reigning champion and how did it feel to win? was the competition tough or were you ahead of all by a long mile?

I feel like 80% of fantasy football is luck so really I just got lucky. It takes a lot of work navigating injuries, studying matchups, and knowing which players to drop or add to your team as the season progresses. I was leading the majority of the season, but I had a pretty bad week in the championship and was just lucky enough that my opponent had worse.

Let's switch gears, how do you usually spend time outside of crypto? what are your hobbies?

I have a ton of hobbies outside of crypto. Most recently I have been learning to golf (the hardest sport I've ever played). I have always loved watching sports, football and basketball. I like to attend rock concerts, most recently Cage the Elephant and Slipknot. I also have developed an obsession for jigsaw puzzles. Mostly, I enjoy anything that keeps my mind busy or is outside in the fresh air.

Any alpha or advice that you can give us? It can be anything.

My best advice to people is to get out there and actually try the things you are hearing about. Experience is the best way to learn and the only way you can have a valid opinion. I have not been successful with everything I've done in crypto, but each thing has been a learning experience that puts me one step ahead of someone who has just heard about it.

Lastly, is there anything else you wanna share with us, titey? The stage is yours

Just want to say that the people I've interacted with in crypto have been some of the smartest, most friendly and interesting people I have ever interacted with. I know WAGMI and from the bottom of my heart think together we will make the world a better place. Thanks for taking the time to learn a little bit more about me.

Hi, what do you go by and what is your EVMavericks #?

Hi 696! Within the online cryptosphere I go around as YieldDaddy. The name really started off as sort of a meme in 2022 when the brother and I started aping in a lot of random projects with of course random accounts. Fighting the Ethereum FUD on Twitter with that name was also pretty hilarious to me, so funny enough that is one of the biggest reasons I stuck with that account longterm. I am rocking EVM #833.

When and how did you get into crypto?

That should have been around the end of 2016 (already 7 years ago sheeshhh time files..). So one day, I read some random article about Kim Dotcom. It stated he was building a project with Bitcoin. Bitcoin I thought, what? That still exists? Why would that controversial billionaire do something like that? And from that moment, down the rabbit hole called Bitcoin I went. Believe it or not, I actually came into crypto for the tech and have not bought anything until only a couple of months later early 2017.

How did you make your way into EVMavericks?

After reading up on Bitcoin I of course stumbled upon all these other crypto that were popping up everywhere during the ICO craze in 2017. Ethereum the 'smart contract' platform, as a tech geek I was very intrigued with the platform which enabled it all, so I deepened myself again in everything I could get my hands on. Reddit with ethtrader and later on ethfinance was one of the best resources I found that I could daily hit with the latest what was going on in Ethereum. As more of a lurker myself I was initially sad that I would miss out on the EVM drop, however with some luck I got my EVM with the raffle. I would have bought an EVM no matter what!

Happy to hear that you landed your EVM through the raffle! How has your stay been so far? any favorite memories?

Our Discord is awesome and sometimes its even hard to keep up, however not directly something that stands out. It is just the best place I use to hangout during the bear market, so looking forward when the bull really hits. I did enjoy the most the moments around the EIPandas (themerge), sprotos and the current vibes with the memecoin mania.

Earlier you said you came into crypto for the tech, what crypto developments excite you nowadays and how do you spend time in crypto?

ZK tech really piques my interest, mainly because it's hard to fully grasp its potential, and that challenge is what excites me most, pushing the boundaries of what's possible. I am also fascinated by topics like the based rollups and pre-confirmations in the Ethereum ecosystem. Lately, I have been just following what thought leaders in the space are tweeting and blogging on, while experimenting with some dApps and occasionally playing the memecoin dartboard.

Any dApps that have piqued your interested in particular? and how has the memecoin casino been treating you?

Recently, I've taken an interest in EFP and Infinex as well. EFP, in particular, seems like it has the potential to evolve into something much bigger down the road, which is exciting. The memecoin casino it’s been a ride for sure! Some wins, some losses, naturally, but thankfully a few of those wins managed to turn a small bag into a decent multiplier. Let's hope those little now worth nothing "moon bags" also get alive again during a full out bull market.

Let's switch gears for a bit, how do you usually spend time outside of crypto? what are your hobbies?

Outside of the crypto, apart from the casual travels I’ve been getting back into a passion that is filming. It started with just picking up the camera a few weeks back, but it’s quickly brought back that excitement I used to feel capturing the world in my own way. It gives me an excuse as well to zone out of the normal daily busy life.

Any alpha or advice that you can give us? It can be anything.

Do not overthink it, in case 2025 is bullish (4 year cycle), take profits when you feel euphoric.

Lastly, is there anything else you wanna share with us, yielddaddy? The stage is yours!

Crypto lets us become sovereign individuals in the digital age, onboard and teach others whenever you can, we are winning.

Hi, what do you go by and what's your EVMavericks #?

eleusys, #1140

Hi eleusys, so how did you get into crypto?

with btc in ~2012, remember thinking it too expensive when it pumped from 20 to 30$. Later started listening to the Kaiser Report

So you are quite an OG. Does it mean you also found your way to EVMavericks pretty early? Or how did that happen?

I was posting a fair bit on ethfinance during the bear and got whitelisted for the mint, roundtripped a free 5 eth and stayed for the community

Tell us more about the community piece, anything that made you stay in particular? any fond stories or memories?

kind and trustworthy people. funny times losing a load of ETH on nfts together, sweeping chads 😆

Good times indeed. As far as I know you are still one of the most active contributors to EVMavericks with your constant alpha and insights, what keeps you going and contributing, especially through times of low sentiment?

just passion for crypto and making it this cycle, enjoy sharing here, Mavs are one of the few communities in crypto where you have trustworthy good people

We definitely appreciate your passion, presence and alpha that you bring. Speaking of alpha, what can you share with us?

❤ hmm rumblings of $michi tier 1 listings, definitely a conviction pick!

Thanks for that, I'm sure our degens will appreciate the info. But back to you, what do you do outside of crypto nowadays? what are your hobbies or ways to touch grass?

Main hobby is Calisthenics which i train daily, and passionate about biohacking/longevity > Ice baths, Sauna, meditation practices daily, lately enjoying playing Padel and beach volleyball! Also love gaming, was playing Apex legends ranked a lot but now fully focused on the PvP in the trenches!

That's quite a regiment. Do you think your daily practices have any impact on your ability to PvP well in the trenches? if so, tell us more! maybe with an example. And do you think that same discipline can apply to how you approach crypto trading or investing?

yes ofc. Most people ask me how i do crypto with all the stress.. gotta stay calm and disciplined and its still a learning experience for me.

You were whitelisted for EVMavericks mint and seemed really excited about it, do you still believe NFTs have a chance or has the market shifted into new directions?

yes i believe so, agree with punk6529's long term vision. But last cycle we were definitely in a huge bubble, this cycle its shifted to memecoins which are far more accessible. Think we see an NFT wave near the end as a wealth flex

Lastly, is there anything else you wanna share with us, eleusys? The stage is yours!

hold to for dear life to your conviction picks, things about to get wild!

Hi, what do you go by and what is your EVMavericks #?

Hey so my EVMavs is #431, a matrix lion. This isn't actually the lion I minted, which I actually sold within first couple of days of the mint (I thought I could rebuy for cheaper lol). I always had the intention of holding at least one though, so when I saw the price rally, I ended up FOMO'ing into another, which I later sold after acquiring the matrix.

How did you get into EVMavericks?

I got into EVMavericks because I was an active member of r/ethfinance. I spent a lot of time there between like 2019-2021, and learned a lot from really smart people. I wasn't really into the whole NFT scene at the time, so when Ethraider announced the mint, I was definitely excited to get into it. Fun fact, I was the second ever minter of EVM right after Etheraider minted the very first one.

When and how did you get into crypto?

I originally got into crypto in like late 2016 when Eth was really starting to rally. Started off by trading bunch of shitcoins on Bittrex. I was really into Vertcoin at the time, which was supposed to be like Bitcoin but with ASIC resistance which served to decentralize the mining. Then the market crashed, so I lost interest but started buying btc/eth/ltc again in early 2019 when the market still seemed dead, just good ol' buy and hold. I unfortunately missed defi summer though, because I was mainly trading everything on cexes back then.

Even though you lost interest when the market crashed and the hype was gone, what made you stick around in crypto? And when it comes to EVMs, what made you stay with the community too after flipping attempts?

It just felt more exciting than tradfi. I actually bought crypto well before I ever bought any stocks. As for EVMs, my intention was always to stay as I really like the people I had gotten to know within r/ethfinance. And I met even more people within the community, and it quickly became a tightknit group.

What are some of your most memorable experiences or highlights when it comes to EVMavericks?

I would probably have to say Goblintown. An EVM member pinged the discord late at night to alert about an interesting NFT mint happening. I managed to mint from 3 wallets, then bought two more for like 1-2e. Then I watched it run to 10e floor, and roundtripped them all as I usually do lol. But because of that ping, so many of us from EVMavs managed to mint them, and we had a cult-like following of the project for a few weeks/months.

How do you spend most of your time in the crypto space these days, and what keeps you motivated this time to stay engaged, especially during market downturns?

Initially when I got into crypto, like many others I was drawn by decentralization values and I was also really interested in learning about infrastructures and their underlying tech. Nowadays I'm more app focused, and generally chain agnostic. Over the years I've made great friends in the industry across many DAOs and communities, so I generally share and scan for alpha across these communities, and trade anything from memecoins to defi tokens. But since late 2023, I'd say >50% of my focus has been around Hyperliquid.

Speaking of alpha, anything that you can share with us? maybe some hyperliquid alpha?

Haha I mean Hyperliquid points program is done, so I think the best course of action is to just buy points OTC on markets like Bubbly or Hypurr Pump. Many people are expecting season 3 before the TGE, but I strongly believe that TGE will precede any potential future incentives (to be clear, I'm not ruling out future incentives for L1 usage after EVM compatibility is live). Currently you can buy points for like $6-$8, which is somewhere around like 15-20% token distribution for points holders at $2b FDV (or 30-40% at $1b FDV). I think the actual allocation will be much higher at around 50%, and I'm confident that FDV will run hard. Fun fact, during August to September Hyperliquid revenue exceeded that of Solana, and it also has higher YTD revenue than Uniswap. Liquid funds will definitely jump in as well unless the valuation goes crazy from the start. I've just never seen any airdrop with so many sidelined buyers (disclosure: I do have decent chunk of points so my views are likely biased). Anyway sorry, you got me all excited with Hyperliquid question, onto the next topic!

Now, what about GreenGeorge IRL? what are your hobbies or how do you spend time outside of crypto?

Hmm real life GreenGeorge is a bit boring lol. I work a regular 9-5 job as an engineer. I like to cook as well as trying out new restaurants with my SO. I enjoy taking a walk especially during summer, and started getting back into swimming recently. But I also spend unhealthy amount of time staring at screens (both in and outside of work), which I guess is the lifestyle of a degen.

Lastly, is there anything else you wanna share with us, GreenGeorge? The stage is yours!

I don't want to sound overly sentimental, but I am genuinely grateful for the friends I've made in web3 over the past few years. In this mostly pseudonymous space, the reputation and trust you build are what truly matter. I'm fortunate to have surrounded myself with friends I can rely on (you know who you are). For those new to crypto, finding the right group should be a top priority, though it can be challenging. Narratives shift quickly, and it’s hard to keep up on your own. I also find it helpful to bounce ideas around when in doubt.

Anyway thank you for taking the time to conduct this interview. I've really enjoyed following what you're doing with the series, and I believe you're a great example of what makes EVMavericks special!

Hi, what do you go by and what is your EVMavericks #?

Hi, 696! Although, I had a few crypto names in the past, the one that really stuck with me, and the one I use for a few years now, is whatthefuck.eth. Very proud I managed to grab this ENS to be honest. My EVMav is #658 and is currently chilling in my cold wallet along with other cool web3 things.

When and how did you get into crypto?

Probably not as early as other EVMavs. I started reading about crypto and getting interested in the tech around the summer of 2017 but I actually made my first purchase around the end of 2017, near the top of that bull cycle. The bear that followed didn't really discourage me at all. I kept investing and got into exploring the ecosystem more and more as time went by. Probably the reason that I got into crypto is similar to others, partly the realization of how disruptive this tech can be (and will be), and also the investing perspective which was always attractive to me.

How did you get into EVMavericks?

I followed the usual route through Reddit. First during the r/ethtrader times and then the switch to r/ethfinance. I still remember some of the drama and how the r/ethfinance folks clicked to me as super smart and helpful people that wanted to create a cool internet corner. I got involved in r/ethfinance more and more with posts and replies and eventually got "airdropped" my EVMav as a contributor to the subreddit.

How has your stay been in EVMavericks? Any favorite memories?

Needless to say, the EVMavs group has been my internet home since the start of the discord. I get to hang out with people that I enjoy talking to, appreciate their perspectives, and are always willing to help for anything web3. As far as memories go, there's so many good ones to mention. The early degen-chat days where we dealt with lots of NFT mints and alpha. Chad NFTs, anyone? The Layer Zero game which was fun, if it wasn't for Rugsby. The chad-fund efforts which I'd love to revive at some point. The merge Pixel Party where we drew our EVMav logo on the canvas and had so much fun during the voice chat. The colonoscopy day POAPs! And last but not least, shoutout to HashtagFuzzMaster for giving one of his ducklings the name whattheduck. Pretty bad ass duckling! Here's a picture!

Earlier you said this tech can be really disruptive, what excites you the most about the space nowadays? And how do you usually spend your time in crypto?

I still get amazed by the fact that you can own and have full control, in a verifiable way, of assets or anything that can be tokenized really, and not have to worry about centralized entities. It does come with great responsibility of course. I think blockchain tech can and will disrupt many sectors eventually. One of the concepts and use cases that excites me a lot is the ability to own your digital identity and the development of social layer infrastructure. Definitely excited to see how this all plays out at the end and how it gets adopted. Now, on what I mostly do nowadays, I mostly trade lots of memes and have fun with the whole thing. On one side, I'd like to make profitable trades of course, but it also helps me discover little corners of the internet where people gather under one meme and really have fun with it. The internet and its culture can be a fairly amazing place.

The internet can be really an amazing place indeed. It sounds like you have been pretty active even during the bear times, what's the motivation behind it or, in other words, what kept you sane during the bear market? And what words of wisdom do you have for folks who experience this as their first bear cycle?

That's a good question. I think it is different for each person. For me, what keeps me going is probably curiosity and also the fact that people keep building in this space. There's always something to explore, some new meta to invest in, etc. Hanging out in the EVMavs discord also helped me a lot to find out new things to check out. That's the good thing about this community. It has a bunch of curious and active people in the space, each interested and focused on their own niche. Anything from gamefi, memes, DeFi, etc. It really is a great community with good overall knowledge in the web3 space.

Let's hear about your IRL for a bit, how do you usually spend time outside of crypto? What are your hobbies?

I tend to have a busy schedule due to irl work, so not much time left for many other things. Really my major hobby is crypto and investing at this point. But other than that, I enjoy a few other things. Playing pool is a hobby of mine since I was 15 or so. Then my latest thing is taking care of about 60+ plants that my significant other and I have in our house. Lots of work there, but fun activity.

Any alpha or advice that you can give us? It can be anything.

I'd say take your time to learn how to evaluate the info you are receiving and also learn how to control and understand your feelings when trading. Whether that's greed, FUD, or FOMO, learn to recognize and act accordingly. That's not really alpha or anything new, but something that I think makes a big difference in crypto investing. I'm still learning myself how to master all that to be honest.

Lastly, is there anything else you want to share with us, Whatthefuck? The stage is yours!

Nothing crazy. Just to sum it up, stay curious, engage in good communities, learn from others, and have fun along the way.

🔝Top accomplishments of EVMavericks in the year of 2023👇:

1. The Withdrowls NFT drop on Arbitrum was created by Naenaebaby and etheraider to celebrate the Shapella upgrade and being able to 'Withdraw' our ETH from the staking contract. All the funds raised -- 9.74e -- went to public goods.

2. Buildathon - Withdrowls Public Goods Funding. Open competition for anyone that wanted to build for public goods or services on web3 with prizes totaling 9.74e.

We had a 3-way tie so all winners:

Lidont, rETH skimmer & EVMavericks Origin - received 3.08 ETH each. Honorable mentions go to projects such as ByteGuide and TwitterBot.

3. Started the Weekly Dots Roundup podcast highlighting the brilliant community of EVMavericks & Ethfinance. We produced more than 40 episodes with a variety of guests.

4. Creators, Doomfuzz & TheBenMeadows, collaborated with FakeRareDecal for szn1 and created 68 editions of EVMavericks Decal.

5. Collaborated with Swell by participating in the bootstrapping campaign - Swell Voyage. Our members got extra perks such as additional pearls if they held a minimum of 0.2 swETH.

6. Chad Fund was birthed. The DAO managed portfolio managed by degens.

7. Started Rocket school - a website along with an educational video series to guide people through the process of setting up a Rocket Pool node.

8. Have grown DAO's treasury:

Financial report from 2023: Our Treasury has grown 155% since the 1st of August and is now worth $79,329 without NFTs ($149,531 if we were to value the EVMs at the current floor price). We currently hold 17.9 rETH, have launched the Chad Fund (~2 ETH) and are in the progress of setting up and getting started with the Stewards Investment Portfolio (~10 ETH). This is a collective effort so all feedback and suggestions are welcome. Stewards and Chad Fund members are responsible for carrying out the transactions. See the following document for all the Treasury information:

Other notable events:

1. One of our creative members - heeey - dropped his collection Bright on Art Blocks. That ended up doing very well and many Mavs got their 'Bright' art as we were eligible for it.

2. EVMs such as The-A-Word helping out fellow lions when they are in need or fell victims to scams, hacks. At the end of the day, it's about the community and social aspect and we are lucky to have such generous and kind members in our pride.

3. Celebrated one-year anniversary by doing a lion pride where we encouraged all EVMs to wear their lion for the week. Besides that, we ran some raffles of EIPandas!

Hi, what do you go by and what's your EVMavericks #?

Hi, I am Benido, sometimes Benido2030, sometimes OMGBenido and my EVMaverick is #968

Nice to meet you Benido. How did you get into crypto?

A very good friend of mine quit his job at the beginning of 2018 and had a lot of free time before starting his new gig. We were chatting a lot back then and he asked me what he should be doing with all the time since he had to go to the office without really having tasks. I asked him if he was interested in this Bitcoin stuff and if we should spend some time understanding the hype.

Well, we did that and setup a Binance account together, both chipping in some money. And that's how we bought the literal top of January 2018, bought for the first time on a Friday, at 1200$, market topped 24 hours later at 1300$.

I somehow stuck around despite the hard first months, he's interested, but not deep into the stuff.

Wow, that's quite a way to get in! Big props to you for sticking around and continuing to learn. What's the one thing from crypto that excites you the most today?

That's a very good question, since a lot of topics in crypto even today still excite me.

I think what excites me the most is the paradigm change that blockchains bring. I live in Europe and to be honest our banks aren't great, but they work and they aren't very expensive. But I think that's not the case for a lot of people in other countries. So I still think that defi and censorship resistant networks are a beautiful thing and hope that continuous tokenization in the future adds more value down the road.

On top what really excites continues to be the community, both the larger Ethereum community, but especially the ETH Finance community including EVMs.

Speaking of communities, how did you join the EVMavericks community?

I was lucky enough to mint my EVM more than 2 years ago. Since I was part of ETH Finance I qualified for the mint. It felt like a great reward and I was and still am very happy about #968.

And what made you stay in the community, especially as we started entering the beginning of the bear market post mint?

First of all my thesis hadn't really changed. Ethereum and Ether were still a great investment, both for my time, but also from a financial point of view. For me it was clear that Ethereum was here to stay, L2s were popping up left and right and I was sure that a new cycle would begin eventually.

On top of that I really enjoy spending time with the EVM and ETH Finance community. There are so many smart people, so many great discussions, thoughts and of course the occasional funny shitpost. I think the people really play a very important role for me and I am sure I would have never learned so much if it wasn't for this beautiful bunch of people. I owe this community big time!

Any favorite memories from the community that you wanna share with us?

There are so many. I still remember standing under a bridge because it was raining on the day of the merge and refreshing the daily on my phone to see if it was successful. I was far away from everyone and still it didn't feel like that. Or the bankless episode with superphiz. It convinced me to become a solo staker despite my fear of not being technical enough to run a validator. The euphoria of early 2021 when we hit 4k only to crash to 1,6k-ish some weeks later and how hard it was to lose that money. At the same time I didn't feel alone and am now more or less cool even if ETH's price swings a lot. The 324 jokes. I could probably go on for some time...

Sounds like many great memories! I know you are one of the top contributors on Ethfinance and yet we rarely see you on discord. What creates such discrepancy for you and what do you think Mavs can do better to motivate people to participate in their gated parts of the community too?

I really think me not being on discord and participating in the Mavs community more has nothing to do with EVMs. I am just old and a boomer that can't handle discord. I grew up in online forums and posts in a threaded form. This real time, chat like communication is something I just can't follow. So I would like to apologize, I know I am missing out! I know that some EVMs left Reddit like a year ago or so and won't come back and that the EVM discord would be the place to meet them and I hate myself for being incapable of managing discord.

I hope that one day someone builds a reddit-like experience / client on decentralized rails and we can all reunite there.

Understandable, in the meantime we are going to be appreciating all your insights on Ethfinance. What about Benido outside of crypto, how do you usually spend time? what are your hobbies?

Benido2030 is a reference hoping to be retired by 2030, so I still have to go to work for now... To be fair, I have a "good" job that allows me to spend a lot of time thinking and writing about Ethereum. I am married and have two beautiful boys at home, aged 5 and 1. I spend a lot of time with them. I love cooking, but haven't had a lot of time to cook lately. On top I used to play a lot of field hockey when I was younger and pick that up again 2 years ago. I also support my local football team, even went to see a game for the first time in like 6 years with my oldest son last weekend, which was a great experience.

Seems like quite a fulfilling life my friend. Before you go, any alpha or wisdom that you can share?

I think it's really important to understand why you are invested in Ethereum, also when it comes to potential financial rewards. For me this why is my family, my kids, both for the freedom Ethereum brings and money that could make their lives easier and all of us happy.

At the same time I am 100% sure that money is not everything, if you're in it just for the money, that's likely not going to make you happy.

On top I am very thankful for a lot of people I met in the community. I haven't met any people in real life, but hope to do so in the future, both privately but also at for example HodlerCon. 2026! I really believe in the "friends along the way" meme.

Lastly, is there anything else that you want to share or mention? The floor is yours, Benido!

Again, I would like to thank the members of the EVM and ETH Finance community. I have learned so much from you and 100% wouldn't be here without you. On top I have laughed a lot in dark bear market times, so thank you for that as well.

And if you, reader, are a lurker in one of the two communities... I would love to read / hear from you! I am pretty sure there are a lot of smart people hiding on the internet and that's totally fine - but I would still love to read from some of you because I am sure the community will benefit!

Also if you happen to have 32 ETH but aren't running a validator, think about it and start playing on a testnet. I am stupid, but managed to run one, so you can as well. Most of the new validators that are spun up are LST/ LRTs and that's not ideal. If you don't have 32 ETH think about Rocketpool or one of the new DVT solutions. Help to keep Ethereum decentralized!

Hi, what do you go by and what's your EVMavericks #?

Hello, I'm Sku, and my EVM ID is #1316.

Nice to meet you Sku! How did you end up getting into crypto and then into EVMavericks?

My first exposure to crypto was way back in 2013! I was seeing a lot of hype on Reddit about Dogecoin, and had no idea how to get any. There was a trading subreddit and I swapped some of my World of Warcraft gold for some Dogecoin. Before I knew it I was mining for Dogecoin, and exploring the rest of the crypto ecosystem.

After a few years of losing money trading memecoins, Ethereum suddenly rose to the top of the charts on Poloniex, an exchange mostly known for memecoins. I started looking into it and learning more. From there I ended up finding EthTrader, followed by EthFinance, and eventually received an EVMavericks airdrop for my participation in the community.

Oh so you go a way back! And it's nice to hear that you are an OG receptor of your EVMaverick. Now looking ahead, what are you most excited about in the crypto space?

The thing that excites me most is the Ethereum vision to disrupt and decentralise finance.

Most of the traditional finance industry currently runs on 30+ year old software. None of those old systems really talk to each other, they don't properly integrate with the web, and they are entirely opaque. We just have to "trust" that our banks have the money they say they do. Ethereum is an open protocol that can be used by any individual or institution to store, transfer, invest, loan, borrow wealth, and crucially prove ownership.

It's hard for me to imagine a world where it doesn't become the default protocol for all of finance. It just works better than what's already out there. We have already scaled, and are pretty much ready, all that's lacking is the integrations and UI. Seeing that vision come to life over the years, and imagine what comes next is super exciting to me.

Great points and I'm excited to see that vision come to life as well! Now let's circle back to EVMavericks, what has been your favorite memory and what excites you going forward?

I have been amazed with the surprising real life overlap between this community and other areas of my life. Discovering an EVMaverick at the same music festival as me was certainly a highlight! I have my EVM as my Reddit profile image, and I'm always amazed to see it recognised in unusual corners of Reddit.

I'm excited that I'm a part of one of the most strongly Ethereum aligned community there is. While I mostly only lurk these days, I love being able to check in with the community and keep up to date.

That's quite a surprise indeed! Now when it comes to EVMavericks, as far as I know, you have a pretty bullish outlook and have picked up additional lions, how has your thesis evolved? what do you wanna share with us about your strong conviction?

It's pretty much just a leveraged bet on Ethereum. Because my conviction is so strong, I'm also convinced that anybody who was airdropped one of these is going to end up pretty wealthy a few years from now. And I think that being an EVM will be a pretty special part of that journey for them. In future, I can envision demand for joining this community to be high.

Let's switch gears for a bit, how do you usually spend time outside of crypto? what are your hobbies?

I'm a huge fan of dance music festivals, and normally try and get to 3 or 4 each year. I like travelling, theme parks, and rollercoasters too! On a regular week I can normally be found in a climbing gym, or watching Football (that's soccer to you burgers)

Any alpha or advice that you wanna share with us? It can be anything.

In this space, you'll find a lot of advice about securing your financial independence, generational wealth, or other lofty goals. But many never get there. Don't forget to cash out the small wins and enhance your life right now, rather than always waiting for the "next cycle".

Lastly, is there anything else you wanna share with us, Sku? The stage is yours!

I know people are feeling a bit down with the ratio and all that. But we are right about Ethereum, we just need to be patient. Conviction bets work best, don't go chasing the hype. See you all in the Discord.

Hi, what do you go by and what's your EVMavericks #?

Hi! I’m Ben and I am EVMaverick #813.

Nice to meet you, Ben. How did you find your way into crypto?

My coworkers were trading BTC/ETH/LTC on Coinbase in early 2017, so I bought my first during a big China FUD dip in September and started researching crypto on Reddit, where I found the r/ethtrader sub.

I see we gotta thank your coworkers 😂 And when and how did you come to join EVMavericks community?

I was smart/stupid enough to stick around r/ethtrader (and later r/ethfinance) community through the entire 2018/2019 bear markets, so I was an active commentor, which got me whitelisted for the EVMavericks mint.

So you are with us from the very beginning! What made you stay with the community through all the turbulent times, especially this bear market and even continue contributing to the degree that you do?

Other members in the ethfinance + EVMavericks community had SUCH strong conviction when I first joined, that it rubbed off on me -- I now know that Ethereum and blockchain tech will succeed.

Every day in crypto is different, so I really enjoy trying out new web3 projects and supporting/connecting with the folks that build them -- most of the time I hear about these projects from the EVMavericks, or I've shared it with them before anyone else.

Do you wanna name any folks who inspired you with their conviction or with their projects that created that enthusiasm for you to explore this crypto space?

-DC Investor was early to ETH/DeFi/NFTs and has stuck to his guns

-JT, who hosts the weekly Doots podcast, has been through multiple hacks and still has such a huge smile on his face/will help anyone in the community

many others, but these two stuck out early on for me^

What's your favorite memory from EVMavericks that first comes to your mind?

Recency bias aside, I’ve had a lot of fun helping to lead the EVMavericks/Doots Podcast funding initiative for Octant’s upcoming PGF epoch!

Close second = Colonoscopy Support Day POAP

Electric memories indeed! Let's switch it up a little bit, what is your fav hobby or how do you usually touch grass?

I love to see live music, play golf and spend time with my family!

Just saw a concert and golfed twice over labor day weekend, so that was a blast!

Sounds like a fun time! Any alpha or advice that you wanna share with us? It can be anything.

Learn to be patient and prioritize delayed gratification if possible. Bear markets (any, really) can be trying at times, but if your timeline is months/years in the future, just know that your conviction will pay off. Then you can use your mental capacity to fortify that conviction or learn new things, rather than question your previous decisions.

Lastly, is there anything else you wanna share with us, Ben? The stage is yours.

Thanks for having me 696 -- always good talking to you!

Please join us for our weekly Doots livestreams (on the EVMavericks discord + YouTube) whenever you can! It's a great forum to learn about new developments in web3, where you can connect with the folks that are building them, along with the EVMavericks community!

Here are 6 reasons why:

1. Survived bear market

Born at the end of the bull market and the beginning of the bear market, we have not only survived but also thrived as a strong active community of like minded individuals. You bet it's going to get only better as we roll into the next bull market!

2. Great community

Community first - NFTs later! Born out of r/ethfinance, EVMavericks consists of wonderful people. It's a nice place to make genuine connections. Whether you are looking for more personal connections such as great friends in the space or more networking opportunities around some niches of crypto space, EVMavericks is the place to be!

3. Good alpha

From airdrop farming to memecoining to AI plays to stocks to staking to fitness advice. Even in this dry market, there are still opportunities to seize! And alpha doesn't end just there.

4. Wealth of knowledge

Our members are very knowledgeable about a diverse range of subjects. Constant discussions about many current topics. Keep learning with us!

5. Greater good

A range of opportunities to contribute to the greater good! Either through public goods, education, decentralization or all of the above.

6. Great entry

Currently going for as low as 0.25E, the value that you can get depends on you. We have a great distribution, strong holders and just a relatively scarce supply of 1,324.

Your weekly EVMavericks catch-up: highlights of the week!

1. Degen chat covers NFTs and what's worth buying, some airdrop potentials. Pooltogether and their insane APR are discussed.

2. JT hosts Weekly Doots Livestream #77.

3. bbroad is leading the way in applying for grants. This time it's gitcoin+octant community round.

4. Still a decent amount of chatter about new platforms, new coins, accumulation phase, another potential politifi seaason, pumpfun and volume.

Top Calls of the week:

5. Farmers talk about blobs, Monad, elixyr, Eigen and more.
