It dawned on me recently that my social feeds have been completely devoid of any interesting fodder - appreciation, speculation or otherwise - about digital art. 

Yap this, Memes that. Tariffs and interest rates. Where is the JPEG love?!

So it feels like a great time to drop a follow-up piece to my previous art appreciation post, An Ode to glitch Marfa. 

Today, I'm bringing you a closer look at what I consider Beeple's most obscure and enigmatic collection, the Everyday Artifacts. 

Everyday Artifacts aren’t to be confused with his Everydays, which are individual works of art he’s posted every single day for the past ~ checks notes ~  17+ years now.

Everydays are the work most Beeple admirers are familiar with. He posts them daily on X as graphic social commentary on the state of the market and world at large.

Very few Everydays, however, are ultimately minted as NFTs. 

How and why he decides to mint an Everyday is still largely a mystery. After launching an initial collection in 2020, primarily as editions of /100, he’s since slowed down significantly and become a lot more selective with releases. 

In a recent call with collectors, Beeple implied he’s more interested in getting art into the hands of the right collectors rather than the highest bidders. 

Digital Scarcity. Although his art is plentiful, he’s creating an air of exclusivity around actually collecting it.

Which brings us back to the Everyday Artifacts. 

Artifacts are 1/1 work-in-progress pieces derived from the Everydays created live in person at Beeple’s studio in Charleston, NC. 

The first Artifacts were born on March 11, 2023 amidst the chaos and mayhem of the grand opening of the gallery.

I was lucky enough to get to go, and I will tell you - it was everything you’d expect out of a Beeple shindig.

The scene was electric. Wall-to-wall install of the First 5000 Everydays. Eerily life-like dopplegangers of Elon, Zuck, and Kim Jong Un posing for selfies. World class sound system and floor-to-ceiling LCD panels that transformed viewing art into experiencing it. Snowfro printing Chromie Squiggles out of his backpack. Pure electric. 

Then, the main event. Beeple held court in the center of the room and began creating an Everyday live. And you just knew you were witnessing something profoundly special.

Then suddenly, an airdrop. 

Literally.

There were printers in the ceiling throughout the venue and Beeple was hitting ‘print’ at various moments throughout the performance, physically airdropping real-time WIP prints to attendees.

It didn’t take long for folks to realize the prints were numbered and that some of them were paired to matching NFTs. 

Absolute chaos ensued. People were clawing and climbing for prints; there were mini mosh pits everywhere. I lost my phone, an earring, and a heel. But hey ...

In total, 50 Everyday Artifacts were minted that night, although not all of them were claimed. 

A month later, at the first gallery community event, Beeple dropped another 50 Artifacts, bringing the collection size to 100. 

Since then, however, Beeple hasn’t minted anymore Artifacts. 

And when asked about it, he said his preference is for scarcity and he’ll probably move more toward physical prints and goods for gallery events. 

We saw this play out at future events, like the 2023 Crypto Winter Wonderland Party, where he seemingly created a 3rd set of Artifacts, but never distributed them. Instead, guests were treated to hand-signed prints and Beeple’s skid-stained undies.

And thus the Everyday Artifacts collection remains at 100 NFTs on Ethereum mainnet.

Beeple and his team have never really promoted or even publicly talked about the collection much, so unless you were there or are tuned in, you may not even realize it exists.

They’ve largely flown under the radar, and the price action reflects it. 

Outside of a few early sales ranging from 6.25 - 13 ETH, the majority of Artifacts have sold in the 2 - 4ish range. 

The floor is still … just ~3E for a 1/1 Beeple original.

Here’s where it gets interesting though. While the quantity of Artifacts trading hands is relatively low, the quality of the collectors is S-tier. 

Esteemed holders include several artists and collectors who are total chads in their own right, including:

~ ripcache ~ deekay motion ~ artifaction ~ grant yun ~ coldie ~ raoul pal ~

These are the ones I could find via ENS. I’m guessing there are more legends behind some of the undoxxed holder wallets too. 

Personally, I think it’s only a matter of time before more art appreciat00rs start to find this little treasure hiding in plain site.

It may be this cycle, it may be decades from now. But it’s hard to see a small, obscure collection of Beeple 1/1s not holding value in the long run.

Last thing I’ll say is that if I’ve piqued your interest and you’re thinking about browsing, I put a premium on the Grand Opening 50 … and not just because I own one 😉

For starters, they’re the original Artifacts, minted and dropped at the Grand Opening of the gallery. Or as they like to say in the comments, “First.” 

And perhaps more importantly, provenance. 

As Ripcache so eloquently points out, only the Grand Opening 50 were minted directly from Beeple’s wallet, whereas the subsequent Community Event 50 were minted from the EveryDays-Artifacts wallet. 

That said, anything from this collection is completely vaultable.

And if you’re one of the lucky ones to have done well this cycle and are at the ‘rotate profits into JPEGs’ part of your journey, you could do a lot worse than picking up a Beeple 1/1 for < 3 ETH.

It’s been a minute since my last writeup and I’ve been meaning to get another one together for a while, but all the AI agents I asked to write it for me were busy launching tokens.

So I’m pulling up from the trenches to share some projects that I’m excited about and I think are worth looking into.

Unsurprisingly, a lot of these are built on Base. It’s by far the chain I spend the most amount of time on these days - and it’s home to a large, thriving community of builders. I’m constantly in awe of the sheer volume of consumer apps, games, products, etc. that ship on Base daily. 

Also, this goes without saying, but NFA DYOR XYZ. 

This isn’t a shill. It’s just a shortlist of projects that I genuinely think are doing interesting stuff. In a very crowded market for attention these teams have built something that caught my eye and I think is worth sharing. 

Alright, on to the list: 

Stoke Fire: 

I’ll be honest with you, despite seeing Stoke Fire repeatedly on my timeline for quite some time now, I really had no idea what it was. And it’s a bull market … so I kinda didn’t care. Shiny things everywhere, on to the next, you know the deal. 

Then one day, after realizing I was in a group chat with the founder Noah Bragg, I listened to a podcast interview he did with another friend, Gramajo - which I highly recommend you check out.

My curiosity was instantly piqued. 

I learned that Noah is a prolific builder. Stoke Fire is his latest endeavor, but he also founded Poolfish, a tool suite targeted at crypto LPs, and started and sold a couple other bootstrapped businesses in the web2 space. 

Stoke Fire is an onchain game where you gather resources, raid your friends, and ‘stoke the fire’ to grow your village. 

It’s currently invite-only and the invites are highly coveted. I scored one from siadude, who’s not only a homie, but a Top 5 ranked player on the leaderboard 🙌🏼 

He gave me a quick tutorial and I was off to the races.

The game itself is really well done. For starters, it’s an actual app you DL from the app store (no offense to anyone building PWA). 

The game play is incredibly sticky. 

Not in the “I’m addicted and it’s sucking up all my bandwidth” kind of way, but in the “perfect blend of simple strategy and won’t take up too much of my time” kind of way. The graphics and UI are also really fun, and the UX is smooth and intuitive. 

You can read the game mechanics on the site, but I will say it’s really simple and quite fun.

There is a tiny bit of an up front investment. You need some Base ETH for gas, plus about $20 worth of $FIRE to run tasks in your village. [Don’t let the price of $FIRE scare you - Noah’s great about keeping the cost to run tasks flexible and pegged as close to $1 as possible and your $20 should be more enough to get rolling].

Your goal is simple - to have the most productive and thriving village while fending off competitor villages from stealing your goods. 

You earn rewards - in ETH - proportionate to your success.

CastOut:

Hosted by the loveliest ladies on the purple app, Nounish Prof & Adrienne, CastOut is GM Farcaster’s version of Survivor or Crypto: The Game. 

Last season, 16 Farcaster OGs battled to wear the CastOut Season 0 crown. They began on teams - competing in online games like Yoink and Oregon Trail, testing their social capital strength with viral polls and meme competitions, and backstabbing alliances until only the mighty Toady Hawk remained. 

This season, I’m throwing my degen hat in the ring and will be playing alongside some of Burr Frens’ finest poker players for a huge pool of crypto prizes.

I don’t know what they’ve got in store for us, but I think we’ve got a pretty solid team with a good shot at winning. Plus, we're poker players, so ya know ... hyper competitive and kinda sharks.

AlgoHan:

I kinda wanna keep this one under wraps because the more eyes on it, the higher the odds are of me getting sniped. But I’m feeling generous and Han deserves all the love. Plus, these mints don’t come without friction.

Han is an OG creator who released CryptoCubes in 2020. He’s a low-key legend followed on X and Farcaster by the likes of Deeze, Ripcache, Jack Butcher, and a ton of crypto artists.

In short, he’s a chad.

Han stuck around building in the bear and fast forward to 2024, he started dropping some mysterious mints on Farcaster in mid-October. The first cast said merely:

I immediately minted, because well, Han. But also - I love everything about this. 

DEGEN tip-to-mint means not only do you need to be on Farcaster, but you also need to have a tipping allowance. Right off the bat this is going to be an exclusive club of minters.

I didn’t even know what the mints were about. And tbh, I still kinda don’t. I just know that Han has said he’s building an AI bot and that full set holders of all 100 stories (mints)  would get … [something]. 

The ‘stories’ are editions of /100 and the next one doesn’t launch until the prior one has minted out completely.

Lastly, before you ape in, you should know that:

1. You’ll need to be a full set holder and the only way to mint is either with DEGEN tips or to market buy

2. The costs of the mints increase. The first 10 were 100 DEGEN, the next 10 jumped to 200 DEGEN. I’m not sure if we’ll continue to see the same increment jumps for all 100 mints, but it does seem that only those with higher DEGEN allos will be able to participate via tipping at some point. 

I’m a full set collector so far and I’m happy to keep minting to see where this goes!

The Pledge: 

If you blinked this month you might’ve missed this on the timeline. It’s flown relatively under the radar compared to other token launches. And it surely hasn’t made the rounds on Farcaster, presumably because it isn’t on Base (although it’s on ETH mainnet, so technically Base-adjacent).

The TLDR here is:

• $PLEDGE is a memecoin allocated to a select group of 900 people who vow never to sell more than 1% of their allocation each month and tweet once a month: “I am upholding the $PLEDGE”

The idea is that by publicly upholding the vow - no matter the price of $PLEDGE - we (the pledgers) form a verifiably trustworthy group of individuals. 

The list of pledgers, along with our wallets and socials, will be made publicly available upon launch. We’re getting 90% of the initial allocation, and we all pitched in to fund the liquidity pool. 

The project is 100% community created, driven, and run - and it’s an amazing group of people. A lot of the early team appear to be OG Punks who were looking for something that wasn’t pure grift or extraction.

I was invited by a friend, who had to personally vouch for me. My reputation was scrupulously vetted via socials, and I was manually approved for discord. It felt like online cult initiation. 

I’m not sure where this will go, but we’re already getting allowlist to some cool projects, the community has good energy, and it’ll be fun to track price action given the fact we’ve all sworn ourselves to not selling. The airdrop is happening tomorrow (12.5.24) so we’ll soon find out …

AlfaFrens:

I’ve been shilling AlfaFrens on the timeline recently - and it’s not just because I’m on the consulting team that’s leading comms & marketing for their upcoming V2 launch. 

I’m actually a longtime fan and user of the app and am genuinely excited to help take the app to the next level. 

AlfaFrens is a fun place for users to create a private channel to chat with followers. And it’s not just for KOLs and influencers. Some of my fave follows are everyday people chatting about niche content in their area of expertise.

This is probably long overdue, but I wanted to give some flowers to one of my absolute favorite teams + projects, glitch Marfa and the Every 30 Days collection.

This is going to be a packed post, but I'll try to both distill it into bite-sized nuggets and make it worth your time.

So, What's glitch?

glitch, in its own words, is an IRL Gallery that sits at the intersection of Marfa, TX and the internet. A self-described 'analog space for digital objects,' if you will.

What that looks like in reality is:

• A physical gallery space in Marfa - the remote, sleepy town that's also home to Art Blocks Marfa, the most magical event in all of web3 (sorry FarCon, I don't make the rules 😬)

• A live view of the current exhibition online at glitchmarfa.com

A friend put glitch on my radar in a group chat about a year ago when they launched their first project, Every 30 Days (E30D), a revolving month-long exhibition of a single, culturally significant art piece.

I scoped out the site and instantly, three things caught my eye:

• The Team

• The Concept + Mission

• The Content

The Team

glitch is the brainchild of:

• Derek Edwards, MP at consumer startup VC Collab+Currency, Top 10 Squiggle holder, and former lucky recipient of Ben Roy's MCM appreciation post

• Madison Page, glitch Gallery Director + Curation Board, founder / performance artist / community builder extraordinaire, and someone for whom akaStevey will go full DND mode

• Malte Rauch, co-founder of Fired Up, head curator, unrivaled art analyis, and author of the kind of tweets that get bookmarked

The wonderful duo and all-around good humans, GnomeM + Steve, round out this incredibly stacked team. 😮‍💨

Concept + Mission

glitch is a physical gallery, but it was born from a vision to educate the world on digital objects. They crafted a plan to integrate storytelling, digital collectibles, and exhibitions that live online, offline, and onchain.

They found the secret sauce: Crypto enables provable scarcity for digital goods, but narrative storytelling and curation help imbue them with cultural resonance.

Content

Their inaugural project, Every 30 Days (E30D), launched almost exactly a year ago.

A skillfully woven 1,133-word essay penned by Malte Rauch about XCopy's Right-click and Save As guy unassumingly appeared on May 1, 2023 at glitchmarfa.com.

The essay was accompanied by a digital poster referencing the art, artist, and collector (Cozomo de' Medici).

As the name implies, the artwork was viewable for 30 days, both in person at glitch Marfa and simultaneously online via digital livestream.

In addition, 1,000 commemorative posters that paid tribute to the piece were available for .02E, of which 332 were minted.

The next month, another poignant essay and tribute poster dropped, this time featuring Claire Silver's Genesis, owned by Flamingo DAO.

With each passing month, my fascination with E30D grew. By the release of #3 in July - featuring Snowfro's CryptoPunk #1478 - I was entirely sold. This collection was special.

💎 For one, the curation and writing was top caliber. I simply wasn't seeing anything comparable to what the team was producing from an artistic editorial standpoint.

💎 Secondly, these were popping up in group chats with folks who I consider high signal.

💎 And lastly, the posters are straight fire and it became pretty clear early on that collecting them would be +EV

I made moves and started my full set collection. I also left some bread crumbs along the way, but with fewer than 100 Farcaster friends back then, no one seemed to notice 😉

Community

As a digital art collector, being a full-set holder of glitch's E30D collection has been one of the most rewarding experiences.

And I'm not just saying that because Snowfro and Grant Yun hand-signed numbered prints for us at the gallery last year. Or because we're getting limited run, NFC-chipped 'fits from 9dcc this year. And did I mention they also gave away this stunner of a bold squiggle to one lucky poster holder?!

While we do love and appreciate the premium giveaways, far and away the best part of glitch's small, self-selecting group of full-set holders is the people.

At the time of this writing, there are only 121 full-set collectors, according to this data-packed Dune dash from our resident statitician and head memester, Wayne Simonetti.

And there can only ever be 332 at most. Likely less in reality, because a handful of folks are already sitting on multiple sets.

We've done IRL meetups, formed close online bonds, and engage regularly with Derek, Maddie, and the glitch team, who care deeply for their holders and fellow art appreciatoors.

There's just something so special about a community formed organically around a shared appreciation for: Art. Storytelling. Culture. Connection.

Where to Next

Now that E30D is coming to a close, I'm not sure what the team has in store for us next season, which kicks off in two short weeks.

Whatever it is, I'm already all in.
