It has low gas fees, while its transaction facilities are very high, enabling developers to scale their apps safely. Base’s total value locked (TVL) reaches $5.8B. Thanks to its developer-friendly interface, active community, and thorough documentation, it’s easy to build on.

According to GetBlock, in the second quarter of 2024, Base became one of the Top 10 blockchains on the platform, surpassing such popular solutions as Optimism and Arbitrum. Moreover, DappRadar, a large dApp database, shows that Base is the second-largest Ethereum L2 platform, being surpassed only by Arbitrum.

No wonder that Base RPC nodes are so popular now. New Ethereum L2 solutions are perfect for the next generation of Web3 applications that are scalable, accessible, and easy to develop. The recent implementation of opBNB and Blast nodes is an example of this growth. Both of these networks offer low gas fees and various bonuses for developers.

It offers 40,000 free blockchain requests per day, at a maximum rate of 60 requests per second. Paid plans start from $29/month for shared nodes with 200+ requests per second, and from $600/month for dedicated nodes with unlimited speed and requests. Lastly, enterprise solutions are available for large companies to scale their Web3 exchanges, games, and other projects.

All its nodes have 99.99% uptime and technical support is available in case of any inconveniences with request sending and receiving.

Now, in March 2024, GetBlock unveils Subscriptions, designed to enhance flexibility and customization for both new and existing clients.

Here’s what you need to know:

With the new Subscriptions model, customers gain access to requests based on the active subscription duration, ranging from 1 to 12 months. Each subscription tier offers a different number of requests, catering to varied needs, from 5 to nearly 800 million requests for unlimited plans.

Should a user exhaust their requests before the subscription period ends, extra requests can be seamlessly purchased. Subscription activation can be conveniently paid via credit card, with recurring payments featuring a 3-day grace period. Additionally, customers have the option to make one-time payments in cryptocurrency via Coinbase.

No longer do GetBlock customers need to worry about their dApps running out of requests, as automated recurring payments ensure seamless subscription renewal. Unused requests roll over to the next subscription period, and users can monitor their active subscriptions and requests through the user dashboard.

This innovation not only makes infrastructure spending more agile and predictable but also heralds the launch of a new offering, boasting 100 million requests, under the Subscription model.

Special Offer: Enjoy Up to 50% Off Your First Subscription

To celebrate the debut of the Subscriptions scheme, GetBlock presents two limited-time offers. Until April 30, 2024, users can avail themselves of a 50% discount on the first “Pay-Per-Requests” subscription or a 30% discount on the Unlimited subscription, now offering 300 requests per second bandwidth.

As always, longer subscriptions come with more attractive pricing, with discounts ranging from 5% for a three-month subscription to 20% for a 12-month subscription.

Arseniy Voitenko, CEO of GetBlock, emphasizes that this pricing overhaul was driven by user feedback:

“Our latest pricing model upgrade, replacing Packages with Subscriptions, was developed with user requirements in mind. This fresh scheme not only offers enhanced flexibility but also lays the groundwork for upcoming services.”

To ensure a seamless transition, GetBlock offers a three-month Legacy Plan migration roadmap. While new users and free plan customers are automatically redirected to the Subscriptions dashboard, legacy users with active requests can continue using them for three months.

Securing Your First Subscription: A Step-by-Step Guide

We’ve made the migration process as smooth as possible. Here’s what you need to do:

For new users: Your account is set up for the Subscriptions model. Simply create tokens, top up your account with crypto or fiat, and embark on your journey in Web3. For existing users: To continue using our service post-upgrade, ensure you have an active subscription and sufficient request balance for limited plans. If your subscription expires or your balance is insufficient, our system attempts renewal in three days before freezing requests on inactive subscriptions. Note that only fiat payments are recurring; for crypto payments, you must manually top up your balance. That’s all there is to it! Head over to GetBlock, claim your discount, and enjoy premium RPC nodes during the bull run!

Stay tuned for more updates from the GetBlock team.

Best regards,

The GetBlock Team

Eligible wallet holders can now enhance their experience with GetBlock’s premium Starknet RPC endpoint, designed to circumvent network congestion and facilitate quicker token retrieval.

Typically, blockchain wallets interact with networks through standard RPC endpoints. For example, MetaMask uses Infura’s APIs for Ethereum connections. However, during high-demand periods, these default solutions can lead to slow performance due to network congestion.

To combat this, GetBlock is enabling its users to upgrade their wallets with dedicated Starknet nodes. Users simply need to register with GetBlock, activate their Starknet RPC endpoints at no cost, and integrate these endpoints into their blockchain wallets.

Setting up is straightforward and quick: GetBlock simplifies the process by not requiring email or credit card information, offering MetaMask authorization instead.

As per the announcement from Starknet Foundation on February 14, the airdrop's initial phase commences on February 20, with 1.8 billion STRK tokens set to be distributed among over 1.3 million qualified early adopters, contributors, and community advocates.

GetBlock Continues Support for Airdrop Enthusiasts with RPS Solutions Starknet stands out as a highly sophisticated L2 solution atop Ethereum, utilizing a Validity (zero-knowledge) rollup to enhance Ethereum mainnet's efficiency and transaction security.

Guide to Integrating Custom RPC into Your Starknet Wallet Adding GetBlock RPC endpoints to a Starknet wallet is straightforward and requires only a basic understanding of Web3.

GetBlock Account

Users must log in to GetBlock, authenticate using email or MetaMask, and navigate to the dashboard.

In the endpoints section, select Starknet protocol, choose Mainnet for the network type, and JSON-RPC for the API interface.

After clicking Get, users receive a private GetBlock RPC endpoint URL which can then be added to the Starknet wallet designated for claiming STRK tokens. In the realm of blockchain technology, a "client" denotes software designed to enable connectivity and interaction with a blockchain network. Simultaneously, it enforces protocol rules across participating nodes.

In simpler terms, clients operate on a unified protocol, ensuring that nodes adhere to the established rules of the "game," regardless of the specific software utilized by individual node operators.

Unlike Bitcoin, which predominantly relies on a single robust implementation with limited popularity for alternative clients, Ethereum embraces a diverse array of competing software written in various programming languages. This diversity of multiple client versions enhances the ecosystem's resilience and diversity, thereby promoting the overall health of the network.

Ethereum nodes explained

The primary goal of client software is to transform a high-performance PC into a node, enabling seamless peer-to-peer communication with thousands of other machines on the network. These nodes meticulously monitor blockchain activity and ensure the dissemination of information across all network nodes.

RELATED: What are Blockchain Nodes and Why Are They Crucial for Crypto?

To delve into specifics, different node types bear unique responsibilities:

Archive Nodes: These nodes have the capability to trace back to the initial blocks, providing data about the network's state at that early stage. Archive nodes demand extensive storage, holding the complete, unabridged version of the ledger spanning terabytes.

Full Nodes: Full nodes maintain local, complete copies of all the latest blocks, allowing them to verify transactions promptly. Unlike archive nodes, full nodes typically don't store older states to prevent overloading storage capacity.

Light Nodes: Light nodes function with compressed, 'zipped' versions of blocks, unpacking detailed data only when specifically requested.

When setting up a client, users have the flexibility to specify their preferred node type. Most existing software options accommodate this customization, allowing users to tailor their node setup according to their requirements.

Why run a node?

Opting to operate a node signifies an active contribution to network integrity and independence, granting users significant advantages within the Ethereum ecosystem. Besides providing direct support to the network, running an Ethereum node offers real-time access to unfiltered blockchain data.

For developers of blockchain services and products, accessing the Ethereum mainnet and its test networks, including the recently launched Holesky testnet, holds immense value for three key reasons:

Transaction Delivery and Verification: Developers can send transactions to the ETH network and independently verify on-chain data, ensuring secure and transparent transactions.

Smart Contract Development and Testing: Ethereum nodes allow developers to create and test smart contracts, deploying them onto the blockchain for real-world application and functionality testing.

Decentralized Application Interactivity: Nodes enable the establishment of interactivity between decentralized applications and the blockchain network, fostering a seamless user experience.

Participation in this community of node operators is open to everyone; however, meeting Ethereum's node requirements presents an escalating challenge, making this endeavor increasingly demanding.

Navigating the top 3 Ethereum clients

Geth Ethereum client

Geth, supported by the Ethereum Foundation, stands as a leading choice, ensuring a seamless node experience.

What is Geth?

Geth, short for Go-Ethereum, represents the Go implementation of the Ethereum protocol. Praised for its stability and optimized performance on low-power hardware, this client has earned favor among users. Notably, BNB Smart Chain (BSC) also relies on Geth as its primary client software.

Geth Client Features

Geth offers a diverse array of features, from built-in key management to the ability to establish private networks without connecting to every peer. The recent addition of Snap synchronization mode, now a default option, significantly reduces the time needed to catch up with the rest of the network. Despite comparisons with OpenEthereum, which was deprecated in 2021, Geth stands as the oldest and most battle-tested software for running nodes, owing to its extensive user base.

Nethermind: Advancing Ethereum Nodes

Nethermind, another notable client, continues to evolve with support from the Ethereum Foundation.

What is Nethermind and its Key Feature?

Nethermind is the C# version of an Ethereum node client, valued for its user-friendly interface and customizable features.

NFTs burst onto the cryptocurrency scene in 2021, setting unprecedented sales records and introducing a myriad of collectibles like Bored Apes, CryptoKitties, and Pudgy Penguins. Creating NFTs has since become a mainstream endeavor, accessible to developers and artists alike.

In this blog post, we will delve into the fundamentals of crafting NFT art for sale. Additionally, we will delve into the technical intricacies of designing smart contracts, catering to those interested in a deeper engagement with NFTs.

NFTs Guide: Key Points

NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, are exclusive digital assets, each possessing unique value and ownership, guaranteed by blockchain technology.

Non-fungible tokens, representing diverse content from visuals to real-world items, are powered and safeguarded by smart contracts.

Crafting NFTs requires expertise in decentralized storage, selecting a suitable blockchain, establishing an NFT-compatible wallet, and opting for the right trading platform.

Although Ethereum is the prominent blockchain for NFTs, alternatives like Polygon, Solana, BNB Chain, and ImmutableX offer excellent choices.

While some NFT platforms enable easy creation and listing without coding skills, they offer limited control over smart contracts and storage.

Advanced users can opt for custom smart contracts, ensuring superior control and transparency throughout the minting process.

Before delving into the specifics of creating NFT art, let's explore the distinctive traits of non-fungible tokens.

What are NFTs and Why Are They Valued?

The term 'non-fungible token,' abbreviated as NFT, provides a clear understanding of the concept. Essentially, it is a token issued on a blockchain that can be traded and transferred. However, unlike fungible tokens that can be exchanged without loss in value, each NFT is unique and cryptographically linked to its owner.

The convergence of artistry and code transforms digital assets into valuable possessions, primarily due to these key features:

Scarcity: NFTs derive their value from being distinct from any other asset of the same kind, a uniqueness embedded within a smart contract registered on the blockchain.

On-chain provenance: NFTs, supported by the blockchain, boast a permanent and easily verified record of their journey from one owner to another. While anyone can save an image or media content and put it up for sale on platforms like OpenSea, it holds no value without being able to authenticate its ownership.

NFTs can encompass various forms, including static images, visuals, audio, text content, or even real-world objects such as concert tickets, branded merchandise, or real estate rights.

How Non-Fungible Tokens Operate

NFTs stand out due to the underlying blockchain technology, a network that securely records information in an immutable manner, making alterations or forgeries impossible.

Smart contracts play a pivotal role, outlining predefined functions that dictate permissible actions related to NFTs. Upon selling the token, the contract triggers the registration of the buyer as the new owner. The code also includes links to the location where the image is stored.

Once the smart contract is initialized, the token is officially minted, settling on the blockchain, and becomes tradable and transferable. Every interaction with an NFT is governed by code rather than intermediaries, ensuring transparency and security in the process.

Creating an NFT: Preliminary Steps

If you have a vision you want to share with the world, great! If not, drawing inspiration from successful artists or even seeking help from AI can be incredibly motivating. Here are some essential steps to ensure a seamless experience for beginners venturing into the world of NFTs:

Secure Decentralized Storage:

For the longevity of your NFT content, opt for decentralized storage solutions like IPFS instead of conventional services such as Google Cloud or Amazon buckets. Store an actual image or file to generate an 'ipfs://' link and metadata in .js format, containing the visual link and a detailed description for your future NFT.

Choose the Right Blockchain:

Your choice of blockchain impacts the fees associated with transforming your digital art into NFTs. Consider the blockchain's existing audience eagerly anticipating new collections. Also, prioritize the reputation of the chain as a secure protocol. Ethereum stands out in this regard, accounting for over 80% of NFTs despite higher gas fees and slower processing.

Set Up an NFT Wallet:

Acquire an NFT-enabled crypto wallet compatible with your chosen blockchain. MetaMask is a popular choice among crypto enthusiasts. Ensure your wallet is funded with cryptocurrency in advance to cover gas fees for listing and trading your freshly minted non-fungible tokens.

Creating and Selling NFTs on OpenSea: A Beginner's Guide

For those venturing into the world of NFTs without a background in coding, platforms like OpenSea offer an accessible entry point. If you're keen on launching an NFT project armed only with your artwork and a MetaMask wallet, platforms like OpenSea, which provide minting services, are perfect for experimentation.

The process of crafting an NFT token on OpenSea is incredibly straightforward. All you need to do is link your wallet to the website. Once connected, you can create an entire collection or individual assets by filling out a simple form. Once this step is completed, you can proceed to list your digital asset by clicking 'List for Sale.'

A notable advantage of OpenSea is that it allows users to mint individual NFTs without incurring any service or gas fees. However, it's essential to note that network fees and platform commissions are applicable during the listing stage.

However, the ease of minting on OpenSea comes with a trade-off. By utilizing the platform's smart contracts, you relinquish control over the storage location of your files and data. Additionally, there are no guarantees regarding the security of these contracts, which is an important consideration.

Creating your own NFT smart contract

If you have some Solidity knowledge and want more control and transparency over your NFT creation process, you can create your own self-curated smart contracts. This method is recommended for advanced users.

To create non-fungible tokens (NFTs) for Ethereum, Polygon, or any other EVM-compatible chain, we will use the OpenZeppelin library and Remix to compile and deploy our code to the blockchain. Additionally, GetBlock's Ethereum RPC endpoints will provide free access to blockchain data and nodes.

Here are the steps to create your own NFT smart contract:

Open the Contract Wizard by OpenZeppelin and select the ERC-721 option. Enter the name and symbol for your NFT.

Fill in the 'Base URI' field with an IPFS link that stores the metadata for your NFT in JavaScript format. Select the features you want for your asset.

Click the 'Open in Remix' button to transfer your contract to an online developer environment.

You can now modify the code and customize it according to your requirements. Typically, basic NFT contracts require some changes.

Set the maximum supply and minting price:

Under the safeMint() function the following modifications are also needed:

Then, we should be able to withdraw funds from our contract by adding a function as shown below:

Go to the 'Solidity Compiler' section in the sidebar and ensure that the compiler version matches the one specified in the code. Compile the contract by saving the file or clicking the corresponding button.

Once the contract is finalized, it's ready for deployment. To ensure a smooth deployment process without using real ETH, we will use Ethereum's Sepolia testnet.

To set GetBlock as the provider and connect to the blockchain where the NFT will be minted, follow these steps:

Create a GetBlock account and obtain a free endpoint for your desired network

Add a new network to MetaMask using the acquired RPC link.

Switch to the 'Deploy & Run Transactions' section in the sidebar and configure the environment by selecting 'Injected Provider - MetaMask'. If the network you added in the previous step is active on MetaMask, Remix will connect automatically.

Make sure your MetaMask account has sufficient funds to cover gas fees. If you're using a testnet, you can try using faucets to receive free test ethers for your on-chain experiments.

Click 'Deploy' and confirm the transaction from the MetaMask wallet extension.

That's it! In this comprehensive analysis, GetBlock compares these two standards, outlining their advantages and disadvantages.

Exploring NFT Standards: ERC-721 and ERC-1155 Key Features

Similar to other Ethereum Request for Comments (ERC) standards, ERC-721 and ERC-1155 are widely recognized frameworks for minting tokens on Ethereum. They are employed to create both non-fungible and semi-fungible tokens.

ERC-721 and ERC-1155: These acronyms stand for "Ethereum Requests for Comment" and denote the prevalent NFT standards applicable not only to Ethereum but also to numerous Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) blockchains like Polygon, BSC, and Arbitrum.

Standardized Creation: Both ERC-721 and ERC-1155 delineate the standardized process for generating non-fungible tokens within blockchain networks.

Historical Context: ERC-721 was introduced in late 2017 by Dapper Labs, the creators of CryptoKitties, a pioneering mainstream commercial NFT project. In Q2 of 2018, ERC-1155 was conceptualized by Witek Radomski, the co-founder, and CTO of Enjin Coin, a leading blockchain dedicated to NFTs.

Key Differences: While ERC-721 and ERC-1155 share similarities, ERC-1155 introduces enhanced functionalities. Smart contracts under ERC-1155 can support diverse functions. Moreover, ERC-1155 tokens can be transferred in batches, enabling multiple tokens to be wrapped within a single transaction.

Semi-Fungible Tokens: Notably, ERC-1155 can be employed for semi-fungible tokens and incorporates a "safe transfer" mode, facilitating transaction reversals.

As of 2023, both standards are widely utilized in NFT marketplaces, gaming platforms, and metaverse decentralized applications (dApps) across Ethereum-like blockchains.

Understanding NFTs:

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are unique cryptocurrency tokens that cannot be interchanged with one another. Unlike fungible tokens, which can be easily swapped on a one-to-one basis, each NFT possesses distinct characteristics and is securely recorded on a specific blockchain through cryptographic contracts.

Fungible Tokens: The majority of cryptocurrency tokens, such as USDT stablecoins, Bitcoin (BTC), and Ethereum (ETH), are fungible. This means that 1 unit of a token is identical in value to another unit of the same token, regardless of the issuing blockchain.

Non-Fungible Tokens: NFTs, on the other hand, are exceptional in that each token is unique. These tokens can be associated with specific content like videos, images, texts, and more. Due to their distinct features, NFTs, such as Bored Ape Yacht Club #1111 and Bored Ape Yacht Club #2222, cannot be exchanged on a one-to-one basis since they are inherently different and verifiable.

The popularity of NFTs surged between 2020 and 2021. Initially, many NFTs represented digital collectibles, often characterized by primitive artworks. Notable NFT collections during this period included Crypto Punks (“Punks”), Bored Ape Yacht Club (“Apes”), Mutant Ape Yacht Clubs (“Mutants”), and Azukis, which captured significant attention and hype within the NFT market.

Understanding ERC in Web3 Development:

In the realm of Web3 development, ERC stands for Ethereum Request for Comments, representing a standardized approach for creating tokens within the Ethereum ecosystem and other blockchains utilizing the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).

In essence, rather than reinventing tokens from scratch repeatedly, Ethereum developers reached a consensus on a uniform procedure for token creation. This standardization ensures consistency and efficiency across token development processes.

On a broader scale, ERCs are integral components of EIPs, known as Ethereum Improvement Proposals. These proposals serve as recommendations for advancing Ethereum networks. For instance, EIP-20, defining the standard for EVM-based cryptocurrencies, laid the foundation for ERC-20 tokens, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of token standards within the Ethereum ecosystem. Similar progressions have been made with subsequent EIPs and their corresponding ERCs.

While there are plenty of token standards for Ethereum (ETH), ERC-20 and ERC-721 remain the most widespread standards.

Understanding ERC-721:

ERC-721 is a crucial Ethereum (ETH) token standard that revolutionized the concept of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Unlike fungible tokens, ERC-721 tokens are distinct entities, each with its own unique value and characteristics. This distinctiveness was safeguarded, allowing anyone to verify ownership histories through public platforms like Etherscan.

Designed for seamless transfer between on-chain wallets, akin to ERC-20 tokens, ERC-721 tokens are easily traceable to specific owners. Their transparent supply mechanism ensures clarity regarding the quantity of tokens in circulation.

Most NFTs serve as digitized certificates of ownership for various forms of content, including images, videos, photos, in-game assets, and more. Introduced in 2018 by Witek Radomski, the CTO of Enjin Protocol, ERC-1155 was born out of the need for a versatile token standard that combined both fungible and non-fungible token features.

The unique aspect of ERC-1155 lies in its ability to represent "semi-unique" assets, a feature particularly valuable in on-chain games. Picture it akin to general admission tickets for specific concerts: these tokens aren't tied to exact seats (exhibiting a "fungible" quality) but cannot be exchanged for tickets to a different concert (displaying a "non-fungible" characteristic). ERC-1155 tokens allow the transfer of assets in batches, enhancing efficiency. Moreover, they support the "safe transfer" option, providing the capability to reverse cryptocurrency transfers sent to incorrect addresses, ensuring a level of security and flexibility in transactions.

ERC-721 vs ERC-1155: A Neutral Comparison

Let's delve into a fair comparison of the technical features, utility aspects, and security designs inherent in ERC-721 and ERC-1155 tokens.

ERC-721 vs ERC-1155: Fundamental Concepts

In essence, both ERC-721 and ERC-1155 serve as cryptocurrency token standards within the Ethereum and EVM ecosystem blockchains. Their primary purpose is addressing the issue of fungibility, ensuring the uniqueness of each crypto token. Both standards are commonly associated with non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

However, it's crucial to recognize the nuanced differences between ERC-721 and ERC-1155 regarding their approach to fungibility. ERC-721 stands as the standard for "classic" NFTs, where each token is inherently unique and cannot be exchanged for other tokens.

On the contrary, ERC-1155 offers a more flexible approach. It caters to semi-fungible tokens, blending the functionalities of ERC-721 and ERC-20 (fully fungible) assets. ERC-1155 can also be converted into non-fungible assets, a capability not present in ERC-721.

ERC-1155: The "Multi Token Standard"

Often referred to as the "Multi Token Standard," ERC-1155 is capable of representing both fungible tokens (similar to ERC-20) and non-fungible tokens (similar to ERC-721) within a single smart contract. It essentially expands upon ERC-721, offering a richer array of functions.

ERC-721 vs ERC-1155: Technological Advancements and Security

ERC-1155 introduces innovative features to enhance functionality. Notably, it supports "batch transfers," enabling multiple tokens to be transferred in a single transaction. This significantly improves gas efficiency, as only one gas fee is incurred, unlike ERC-721, where each transfer necessitates a separate fee.

Additionally, ERC-1155 employs a different metadata approach. While ERC-721 assigns individual metadata to each token, ERC-1155 allows large groups of tokens to share metadata. This feature proves invaluable for minting and transferring semi-fungible tokens.

Moreover, ERC-1155 supports native batch functions like balanceOfBatch and safeBatchTransferFrom, streamlining operations involving multiple tokens. It adopts a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) pattern, allowing token metadata definition either on-chain or off-chain (in IPFS), offering versatility in metadata management.

ERC-721 vs ERC-1155: Diverse Applications

The technical disparities between ERC-721 and ERC-1155 have paved the way for diverse applications in the realms of GameFi, trading, Play-to-Earn, and more. ERC-721 caters to NFT collections associated with artworks, videos, texts, and images, prioritizing uniqueness over gas efficiency.

Conversely, ERC-1155 finds its significance in GameFi, particularly for in-game assets. It allows seamless transactions of fungible assets within specific games while ensuring they retain their unique attributes. Additionally, ERC-1155 holds potential in applications requiring verified and cryptographically secure documents, certificates, and diplomas, leveraging shared metadata for enhanced authenticity.

As the NFT landscape continues to grow, the utility of ERC-1155 is expected to expand in tandem with increased adoption.

GetBlock: Your Blockchain Solution

GetBlock, a cutting-edge blockchain RPC node provider, serves as a dependable technological foundation for building GameFi and Play-to-Earn applications. With support for 50+ blockchains, high Requests Per Second (RPS), and competitive pricing, GetBlock offers a comprehensive solution through a user-friendly interface.

Don't miss the opportunity to benefit from our 20% bonuses through our affiliate program. Proposed by Dapper Labs in 2017, ERC-721 laid the foundation, while ERC-1155, introduced by Enjin in 2019, brought forth groundbreaking features.

Notably, ERC-1155 surpasses its predecessor with an array of advanced functions such as safe ("reversible") transfer, batch transfer, and shared metadata. These capabilities empower developers with unprecedented flexibility, ensuring seamless operations, especially when managing diverse and extensive token sets within a single application or platform.

ERC-1155, with its enhanced functionality and efficiency, has emerged as a versatile choice in the realm of digital collectibles, revolutionizing the way we interact with unique tokens in the digital landscape.

ERC-721 vs ERC-1155: Frequently Asked Questions

In this brief FAQ, we will address common queries regarding the technical features and possibilities offered by ERC-721 and ERC-1155 tokens on the Ethereum blockchain.

What are ERC-721 and ERC-1155 tokens?

ERC-721 and ERC-1155 represent the prevailing non-fungible token standards for Ethereum and other programmable blockchains utilizing the Ethereum Virtual Machine. ERC-721, introduced in 2017 by Dapper Labs, paved the way, while ERC-1155, showcased by Enjin in 2019, brought advanced features.

How do ERC-721 and ERC-1155 differ?

In essence, ERC-721 and ERC-1155 employ slightly varied technological architectures. ERC-1155 is a more sophisticated standard: it facilitates "safe transfers," supports batch transfers, and accommodates semi-fungible tokens. Furthermore, it has the capability to convert NFTs into semi-fungible tokens, making it notably versatile.

ERC-721 and ERC-1155: Which one is better?

The choice between ERC-721 and ERC-1155 depends on specific requirements. ERC-1155 is a technologically advanced standard that combines the strengths of ERC-721 and ERC-20. It is resource-efficient, feature-rich, and highly adaptable, making it the preferred choice for many applications.

Are ERC-721 and ERC-1155 tokens scams?

No, both standards are inherently legitimate and have been rigorously tested by the Ethereum community. However, it's crucial to exercise caution, especially in the NFT markets, as they can be susceptible to manipulations and scams. Therefore, prudent trading practices are strongly advised when dealing with ERC-721 and ERC-1155 tokens.

Arbitrum has become a popular Layer Two blockchain platform on Ethereum (ETH) for smart contracts, due to its fast transactions and minimal fees. As a result, it has attracted a variety of dApps. This article will discuss the most widely used decentralized cryptocurrency exchanges on Arbitrum, which could be a wise choice for both new and experienced traders in 2023.

Discover the Top Decentralized Exchanges (DEXes) on Arbitrum: A Seamless and Low-Cost Crypto Trading Experience

Decentralized exchanges (DEXes) and decentralized finance protocols (DeFis) on Arbitrum (ARB) offer a censorship-resistant and low-cost solution for crypto trading, yield farming, and decentralized lending/borrowing. ARB is a second-layer scaling platform for Ethereum that leverages Optimistic Rollups technology to process computations off-chain and reduce mainnet pressure. Launched in August 2021, ARB has attracted over $3.1 billion in locked assets across 250+ dApps. In this review, we’ll highlight the most significant DEXes and DeFis on Arbitrum, including GMX, Radiant, Gains Network, Camelot, and Arbitrum Exchange. Additionally, ARB hosts versions of leading multi-chain ecosystems such as Uniswap, Aave, Sushi, Curve, and Balancer.

While cross-chain heavyweights like Uniswap and Aave will be researched separately, this review will focus on the protocols specifically associated with Arbitrum. Start exploring the top DEXes on Arbitrum for a smart crypto trading bet in 2023.

Understanding Decentralized Cryptocurrency Exchanges (DEXes)

A Decentralized Cryptocurrency Exchange (DEX) is a platform created for exchanging one cryptocurrency to another without intermediaries. Unlike traditional exchanges, DEXes do not rely on centralized storage or wallets for crypto conversion, and all transactions occur on-chain through advanced smart contract designs.

DEX users are not required to create accounts, which makes them an ideal option for those who value privacy. However, DEXes are vulnerable to attacks and price manipulations, and their user interfaces can be difficult for newcomers to navigate.

Overview of the Top 5 Decentralized Exchanges (DEXes) on Arbitrum

The Arbitrum platform hosts numerous active DEXes, providing millions of cryptocurrency traders with a secure and cost-effective trading experience on a daily basis.

GMX Decentralized Exchange Overview

GMX, a decentralized perpetuals exchange, was launched on ARB shortly after the mainnet release in September 2021. Unlike other decentralized exchanges that only support spot positions, GMX offers the opportunity to trade leveraged positions, making it a standout feature. To ensure precise pricing, GMX relies on Chainlink Oracles that aggregate prices from various major exchanges.

The tokenomics of GMX is based on its eponymous governance and utility token, GMX, as well as its LP rewards asset, GMX Liquidity Provider Tokens (GLP). Liquidity providers on GMX earn a share of 70% of all fees generated by the platform.

As of April 2023, GMX is responsible for almost 40% of Arbitrum’s net TVL (total value locked) in its ecosystem. Apart from Arbitrum, GMX also has a version based on Avalanche.

Radiant Capital Decentralized Exchange

Radiant Capital is a leading decentralized lending protocol in the Arbitrum ecosystem, allowing cryptocurrency holders to earn rewards by providing liquidity, including stablecoins like USDT, DAI, and USDC, with reliable APY of 1.96–2.3%.

The platform has issued its core native utility, governance, and rewards token, RDNT, which will only be distributed to liquidity providers starting from its v2 iteration.

In 2023, Radiant Finance is focused on cross-chain development, aiming to accept tokens from various blockchains through its liquidity mechanisms within a single interface.

Gains Network DEX

Gains Network, originally launched on Polygon, has become popular on Arbitrum. It is a one-of-a-kind trading platform that allows leveraged trading of cryptocurrencies, as well as Forex pairs, selected stocks, and commodities, targeting the $7 trillion Forex market. The platform offers up to 1000x leverage and allows users to deposit DAI into the gDAI vault. As of April 2023, the gDAI vault on Gains Network has over $38 million in total value locked. The platform uses the GNS token for its tokenomics.

Camelot DEX on Arbitrum

Camelot DEX is a decentralized exchange built natively on Arbitrum. It enables users to easily convert between different assets and offers liquidity pools for providing liquidity. The platform is powered by the GRAIL token, and users are rewarded in xGRAILs.

In April 2023, Camelot released v2, which features an Algebra-powered AMM and advanced infrastructure. It also includes new tokens such as stETH.

After the FTX collapse, the Web3 segment is a bit shaken up by the announcement from the MetaMask Team. Many crypto users checked the RPC provider their dApps are using for the first time ever, and what did they discover?

Top Blockchain RPC Providers are Tracking clients’ IP addresses

On November 24, a Leading EVM blockchain wallet has stated that it transfers its users' IP addresses to an RPC endpoint provider, Infura. MetaMask uses Infura's API by default.
While Crypto Twitter was outraged by the announcement of the #1 decentralized wallet in Web3, the MetaMask team posted another. It tried to explain that nothing extraordinary happened because the new guidance "did not result in more invasive data collection or data processing, nor were they developed in response to regulatory changes or requirements". But some users decided to switch their RPC provider from Infura to another company immediately.

MetaMask users were surprised to find out that other RPC providers adhered to the same standards. Alchemy, Moralis, and Quicknode also collected users' IP addresses, as well as other types of personal information, according to Chinese crypto media company BlockBeats.

Is it dangerous for users?

It's easy guess why this is dangerous for ordinary cryptocurrency holders and Web3 applications.
First, it exposes DeFi users to surveillance: with this information, any regulator can link a user’s IP address to a transaction. With government agencies cracking down on encrypted user privacy again, this fact must worry Web3 novices and professionals alike. This is inconsistent with the on-chain, non-custodial, decentralized ethos of Web3 applications.

The policy has already led to a censorship campaign at least once: In March 2022, some users in Venezuela and Iran were unable to use the MetaMask and Infura services. These restrictions are even more dangerous for on-chain application teams, as they could expose visitor data for tracking purposes. So the time is ripe to try out the service, which prioritizes customer privacy and anonymity.

Time to Move to an RPC Provider that Doesn’t Sacrifice Your Privacy

GetBlock has never tracked its customers' IP addresses and wallet data. GetBlock is KYC neutral: we do not ask our clients to provide their ID and credit card information, as we are not and need not be a financial institution or similar.
We value your privacy and only collect and store the information necessary to provide our services (see our Privacy Policy for more information). However, GetBlock does not log or store the IP addresses of its users. We do not link IP addresses to our users' identities and/or their wallet addresses, so users remain anonymous. Additionally, GetBlock accepts cryptocurrencies as a payment method. Users do not need to share bank card information to use GetBlock.

We use the Google Analytics service for a better user experience - but this may not allow us to track user activity on our sites. Our users can log into GetBlock using their email address, as this is the most intuitive way for most of them. All of our users who prioritize anonymity have the option to use privacy-oriented email services such as Proton Mail, Tutanota, and other reliable platforms. Therefore, switching to GetBlock is a smart choice for all dApps. Your dApp is always one step ahead when it comes to user privacy and anonymity.

Get access to our nodes now.
