On August 15th, 2025, Nouns DAO Africa hosted a vibrant side event at ETH Enugu, bringing together builders, artists, and community members for an evening filled with art, music, and meaningful conversations around DAOs and onchain creativity.

Despite the day coinciding with Hackathon Demo Day, which meant many registered participants were delayed until after our close, we still had a solid turnout of 30 attendees, against 25 registrations. The room was buzzing with curiosity, laughter, and learning as we shared the vision of Nouns DAO Africa with the Enugu creative and builder ecosystem.

Final Thoughts

The Nouns DAO Africa Hangout at ETH Enugu  was more than just an event, it was a statement that art, music, and blockchain belong together in Africa’s cultural and creative story. From DAO education to live music and community bonding, the vibes were unforgettable, and the momentum is only growing.

The art was inspiring. The music was powerful. The conversations were real.

Tools that enhance collective decision-making, coordination, or treasury management. This track is ideal for those interested in DAO tooling, multisig flows, and UX for decentralized coordination.

2. Mini-Apps for Community Engagement & Social Tools

Social dApps, onboarding solutions, and gamified participation systems. A good fit for Farcaster tinkerers, culture builders, and community architects.

3. Mini-Apps for the Creator Economy & Public Goods

Apps empowering creators, NFTs, open-source funding, and media monetization. Tailored for creatives and builders passionate about onchain culture.

4. Vibe Coding & AI Agents

A sandbox for experimental coders building playful or intuitive apps by combining creative code with AI-powered agents. Great for developers exploring the edge of UX and automation.

5. We Them Media Track

A dedicated track to help We Them Media explore new ways to present its content, engage audiences, and imagine decentralized tools for community-driven storytelling.

6. Open Mini-App Innovation

A wildcard category for unique ideas that don’t fit neatly into other tracks — ideal for first-time builders or those wanting to test bold, experimental concepts.

A total of 6.5 ETH in bounties and community support is available to participants:

“DAOs thrive where participation meets purpose and the Lisk DAO Quest was a step in that direction.”

Season 1 of the Lisk DAO Quest has officially wrapped, leaving behind new DAO contributors, deepened governance knowledge, and a few important lessons for the future.

As one of the 159 participants, I had a front-row seat to the experience and this article aims to honestly reflect on what worked, what could improve, and why this Quest mattered.

What Was the Lisk DAO Quest?

At its core, the Lisk DAO Quest was an experimental, gamified onboarding campaign designed to educate, activate, and reward contributors. Hosted primarily on Zealy, it offered tasks that taught users about the DAO while awarding XP (experience points) for each completed challenge.

🎯 Key Activities in the Quest Included:

• Joining the Lisk DAO Forum

• Reading and understanding Lisk DAO documentation

• Staking LSK and delegating voting power

• Proposing improvements through governance case studies

• Recommending DAO tools for smoother operations

• Identifying top delegates within the ecosystem

• Inviting others into the DAO journey

Each of these quests wasn’t just click-to-complete they required thought, engagement, and, in many cases, onchain action.

In a space where onboarding is often fragmented or overly technical, this Quest stood out for its structure, progression, and sense of direction.

What the Quest Achieved

1. Expanded Participation

With 159 participants many of whom were new to Lisk the Quest succeeded in growing the DAO’s contributor base, and introducing them to governance mechanics through action, not just theory.

2. Increased Governance Activity

By actions like staking and delegation, the Quest helped more users become active stakeholders, not just spectators. That’s a win for decentralization.

3. Stimulated Critical Thinking

The tasks weren’t just about doing they were about thinking with quizzes after some tasks ensuring that participants actually understood every step of the way. Challenges like governance case studies and tooling suggestions encouraged contributors to examine the DAO’s systems and make real suggestions.

4. Celebrated Contributions Through DAO Drops

38 winners were selected through a mix of:

• Milestone completions (e.g., first to reach 5 XP, 50 XP, etc.)

• Top 5 leaderboard rankings

• Special contributor selections

• Transparent raffle entries based on XP

DAO Drops included NFTs, tokens, merch, and other community perks, a nice incentive layer that made participation feel recognized.

Where Things Got Complicated

Despite the many wins, there were critical inconsistencies that surfaced after the drop announcement:

1. Milestone Winner Confusion

Participants who were the first to reach specific XP milestones were promised DAO Drops. But in some cases:

• Users who should have qualified (like BigCrypto at 555 XP and Whi at 175 XP) were not selected.

• Instead, users below them on the XP leaderboard were announced as winners.

This indicated possible misalignment in data tracking or selection execution.

2. Leaderboard Discrepancies

Although Top 5 contributors was announced to be selected, research into selected winners showed the top 12 contributors were selected to receive DAO Drops, there were unexplained omissions:

• Maziofweb3, who ranked #6, was missing from the winner’s list sparking concerns about accuracy.

3. Snapshot Timing Issue

The Quest team later clarified:

“Snapshot was taken the same day the other tasks disappeared. We didn’t anticipate that the Zealy leaderboard would continue to change based on the last two tasks.”

This suggests that a snapshot was taken before final XP changes which were simply drop claim tasks were locked meaning the published leaderboard on Zealy may have differed from the internal one used for selection.

4. Opaque Raffle Process

While raffle winners were chosen “randomly,” the actual raffle tool or logic was not disclosed. No on-chain proof, no public seed, no audit trail.

This lack of transparency leaves participants unable to verify fairness especially when some low-XP participants won, while highly active contributors didn’t.

Recommendations for Season 2

If the Lisk DAO continues to run seasonal quests (which it absolutely should), here are some ways to strengthen the integrity of the process:

✅ 1. Announce Snapshot Times in Advance

Give participants a clear end-date and time when XP will be frozen then publish the snapshot so it’s fully auditable.

✅ 2. Use On-Chain or Public Randomization

For raffle winners, use tools like Chainlink VRF or open-source scripts that allow anyone to verify how winners were chosen.

✅ 3. Publish a DAO Drop Matrix

Show how each winner was selected whether through a milestone, leaderboard, or raffle to eliminate ambiguity.

✅ 4. Balance Early Action With Sustained Contribution

Participants who completed a few tasks early without continuation were sometimes rewarded over those who contributed more consistently. A weighted system could solve this, one that rewards both early effort and long-term engagement.

Final Thoughts

The Lisk DAO Quest was a bold and meaningful experiment and like all experiments, it came with both value and variance.

But let’s be clear: it worked. It activated contributors. It deepened understanding. It brought people in. And it started conversations that matter.

Now, the DAO has the opportunity to iterate, improve, and turn these learnings into even more inclusive, transparent systems that empower the next 500 contributors, not just 159.

Kudos to the Lisk DAO team and community stewards who made Season 1 possible. And to the participants, this was just the beginning.

Born in the vibrant city of Lokoja, Kogi State, but rooted in the traditions of Edo State, Gladys' story is deeply African, profoundly personal, and unrelentingly modern. Now based in Abuja, she stands at the intersection of heritage and futurism, birthing a brand that is as much about aesthetics as it is about storytelling.

From Sewing Rooms to Studios

The seeds of Vibes & Styles were planted early. In 2014, she began her fashion career as a secretary at Frank Stitches Clothing. But being on the sidelines was never her destiny. Gladys immersed herself in the hands-on craft, eventually becoming a machine operator proficient in everything from design to weaving, buttonholing, and final tailoring. It was here she cultivated the patience and precision that would later define her collections.

A brief detour into academia saw her enroll in a two-year course in Science Laboratory Technology at the Federal Polytechnic Idah, Kogi State. But even science couldn’t dull her creative fire. After her studies, she returned to fashion, this time not just to create but to lead. From 2017 to 2022, she served as manager at Fashion Town, where she mastered acquisition, accounting, and the nuances of fashion business operations. This era was her real-world MBA, earned through late nights, tight budgets, and countless fittings.

Building Legacy with Fabric and Code

In 2022, Gladys co-founded her first brand, MOGIN with Colours Peter, later rebranded as Colours and Gene, a name that foreshadowed what was to come: a blend of fashion, identity, and innovation. But 2024 would prove to be the year that changed everything.

She discovered blockchain technology.

For someone already immersed in music, fashion, and digital design, NFTs and on-chain identity weren't just new tech buzzwords they were the missing pieces. The realization struck: what if African fashion could exist both physically and digitally? What if collectors could own more than just a garment, but a story, a timestamp, a cultural artifact?

I spent months living in my Friends music studio early 2024, disconnected from the world, trying to figure out who I was as an artist. In that solitude, I stumbled upon something completely new: Web3. As I dove deeper into this emerging space, I was simultaneously making music and believe it or not had a sewing machine right there in the studio(Shout-Out to Shino Boy for being such an amazing friend and support) music became my therapy, a tool of introspection. The result of those long nights was "Road" a track that embodies struggle, resilience, and discovery.

The feedback I often received was: “Hip hop doesn’t sell. Maybe try Afrobeats. Maybe sing more.” I appreciated every suggestion because I knew it came from love. But I also knew I had something real to say, and I had to say it my way. That commitment to authenticity birthed I Found My Sound (IFMS).

As the music came together and I was now finding my feet through life again so did the vision. We had photoshoots, video content, a release date, and a lead single (Road)out.

Then Kosbaar the A&R for the project and also the event coordinator suggested hosting a listening party and releasing merch for the project. But I knew I didn’t just want to do what’s expected. I’m not only a musician, I’m a fashion designer with a brand called Vibes & Styles

and my dream is to create immersive experiences of both my Music and Fashion.

So I said, “Why not do something more? ”Why not bring my two worlds fashion and music together in one unforgettable experience? A start to bringing to life my life-long dream.

That’s how the IFMS Release Party and Fashion Showcase was born a first of its kind in my city, Abuja.

From Studio to Stage: Making It Nounish

During my personal transformation, I found out about Nouns through the Artist Program where I made 5 Nounish digital art designs. I did a lot of research about the community, amazed at how effective the decentralized governance in the DAO is I was thrilled and when I began seeking a way to become an active part, I came across flows which gave me the opportunity to begin making tote bags and gifting Nounish Builders and even hosting Noggles Weekly, X spaces that spotlights builders and hear them sharing their stories. That’s when I connected more with Lil Nouns DAO , joining Nouncil and Happy Hour calls, learning more about the DAO, It lit a fire in me: to proliferate Nouns through fashion and introduce my community to the value of onchain creativity.

Two weeks before the event, a new idea hit me: “What if this wasn’t just about my EP… but also about introducing Lil Nouns to my people?”

That’s how Prop 302 came to be.

A proposal to make the IFMS event Nounish. I requested 1 ETH to create Lil Noun-inspired merch (totes, stickers, hand fans), include the DAO in all promotional materials, rent a photobooth, and organize two Lil Noun NFT raffle draws. I wanted to give back to the DAO by offering revenue shares from sales and helping onboard new members in a meaningful way.

The support from the community blew me away:

• Lil 67 delegated his NFTs to help me submit the prop.

• Fatty and Mike Good gave valuable feedback.

• Bixbite helped me understand the disbursement timeline.

The Event: Music, Fashion, and Lil Nouns

Held at Taticana Lounge, Abuja on the 27th of April, the event was pure magic. We sent out invites, did sponsored ads and hosted VIBERS, creatives, industry experts, and community members. It wasn’t just a listening party, it was a live runway show, an NFT experience, and a community activation, all in one.

The IFMS team made the night unforgettable:

1. Mint a PGC NFT: Holding an NFT alone won’t allow you to vote.

2. Generate Voting Tokens: Only NFTs minted before September 30th are eligible to generate the tokens needed to vote. Each NFT holder gets 5 votes.
