We are excited to introduce you to the Sui Name Service (SuiNS)! SuiNS is being built as a open, distributed naming service on the Sui blockchain. Our first product will be the .sui domain name extension which allows our users to start building their on-chain identity on Sui. Our goal is to build a fair and distributed name service that gives equal access to all and provides a unique experience.

The SNS system consists of a root contract, which is deployed on the Ethereum mainnet, and a set of subdomain contracts, which are also deployed on the Ethereum mainnet. Each subdomain contract represents a subdomain within the SNS hierarchy, and users can register names within a subdomain by interacting with the corresponding subdomain contract.

Users can register names within the SNS hierarchy by paying a fee to the subdomain contract and providing the Ethereum address they wish to associate with the name. Once a name is registered, it can be resolved to the corresponding Ethereum address by calling the "resolve" function on the subdomain contract.

The SNS system is designed to be decentralized, meaning that it is not controlled by any single entity. Instead, it is maintained by a network of users who participate in the Ethereum network and interact with the SNS contracts. This decentralized nature makes the SNS resistant to censorship and allows users to register and resolve names without the need for a central authority.

To use the SNS, users can interact with it directly using an Ethereum wallet or other Ethereum client, or they can use a service that integrates with the SNS, such as a dApp or a web-based service. Users can register names by paying a fee in Ether, and can resolve names to obtain the associated Ethereum address or other resource.

It is no secret that the Sui Name Service will have a DAO, under the token $SNS. The Sui Name Service will be registered as a legal entity off-shore and be owned through the $SNS token.

StorkLabs LLC will be the exclusive developer of the Sui Name Service and the $SNS token will be used to vote on use of community funds, feature changes, or anything related to the SNS-products / direction. This will keep ensure that feature updates happen quickly, but also give token holders an outlet to make changes in the products and receive real ownership / equity.

A Name Service by the People for the People DNS which controls the internet is a nonprofit, yet it is controlled by a select group of people. We believe the Sui Name Service, which will be the pillar of Crypto Gaming and the Sui Ecosystem, should be controlled by the people that use it.

For this reason, our plan intends to have it ownership distributed in the Sui Name Service back to the community. From a financial perspective, StorkLabs LLC will always be separated from the Name Service and can take on investors, however, the Sui Name Service will be owned by the people — not venture capitalists.

StorkLabs LLC will also be completely transparent with its fundraising needs. As of right now, StorkLabs LLC equity is retained by myself.
