Intel plans to expand its Wi-Fi 7 development efforts ahead of its introduction to the market in 2024 and intends to apply its technology predominantly in laptops before expanding to other devices.

"We are currently developing Intel's Wi-Fi '802.11be' in order to obtain the 'Wi-Fi Alliance' certification, and it will be installed in PC products such as laptops by 2024. We expect it to appear in major markets in 2025," Eric McLaughlin, vice president of Intel's wireless solutions division, said at a recent press conference in Asia.

"Wi-Fi 7 almost doubles the frequency bandwidth of 802.11ax (170 MHz) to 320 MHz and doubles the speed of Wi-Fi. Since there is more than a year left before the release of 802.11be, there is still a chance that we could improve the processing speed even further," he added.

Meanwhile, Apple is on the cusp of transitioning its devices to Wi-Fi 6E. While it was heavily rumored to debut with the iPhone 13 lineup last year, Apple has yet to release any devices with support for Wi-Fi 6E. That is expected to change this year starting with the iPhone 14.

Apple's long-rumored mixed-reality headset is also expected to feature Wi-Fi 6E. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that head-mounted display devices in 2022, 2023, and 2024 will offer Wi-Fi 6/6E, Wi-Fi 6E/7, and Wi-Fi 7, respectively, but it is unclear if this information was related to Apple's product roadmap specifically.

They do point out that their tweet pertains to the variants that will be sold by third parties, and does not include the models that will be sold exclusively by Samsung.

The Fold 4 will be available in Graygreen, Phantom Black, and Beige, which indicates the alleged Red version will only be available through Samsung.

The Flip 4 will have 8GB of RAM and storage options will include 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. Color options will include Blue, Graphite, Pink Gold, and Bora Purple.

Initially, there were rumors that the Fold 4 and Flip 4 will be cheaper than their predecessors, but a recent report said that the Flip 4 might be a little more expensive. According to a blog called Gizpaw, a European retailer has already listed the phones, and per the listings, the 256GB Fold 4 will set you back €1,863 and the 512GB model will be priced at €1,981.

The same outlet says that the 128GB Z Flip 4 will cost €1,080, the 256GB edition will go for €1,158, and the maxed-out model will fetch €1,275.

In contrast, as pointed out by Twitter user Alvin (@sondesix), the 256GB Fold 3 had a price tag of €1,799, and the 128GB Flip 3 was launched for €1,049.

SnoopyTech has outright said that those prices are wrong and has questioned the credibility of Gizpaw. He believes that prices will stay the same as the last generation, considering Samsung's current foldable phones, particularly the Flip 3, did pretty well. The prices mentioned by Gizpaw look off anyway, so it's possible they are just placeholder numbers.

Although the sensor has been around for a while, a recently released sample image may give you buyer's remorse for picking up that expensive mirrorless camera.

Motorola teased a big image sensor earlier this month, but we weren’t expecting Lenovo’s General Manager Chen Jin to share a sample so soon. As reported by 91Mobiles, the photo in question was shot on the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra (that's the Moto X30 Pro in China). It was posted on the Chinese social media platform Weibo, along with a few technical specifications.

ANDROIDPOLICE VIDEO OF THE DAYClose

Jin says the 50MP image was shot using camera's auto mode. The 200MP sensor created the image using four-in-one pixel binning; this is expected to be the camera’s default image resolution to help economize storage space without compromising too much clarity.

The photo of a bouquet with a sunflower, a rose, and other flowers flecked with droplets of water is strikingly detailed, and the colors seem realistic, although there are some soft edges and shadows seem to have been lifted slightly. Despite Weibo’s compression, the image retains its quality, as is evident from the 13MB file size. We sure hope Motorola equips the phone with ample storage or a dedicated SD card slot to store the giant image files.

As the launch of the iPhone 14 is sooner rather than later, Apple fans are eagerly anticipating the launch. We expect to see some notable differences between the lineups of the iPhone 13 and 14. From what we know, which feature would you like to see the most in the newest iPhone?

Due for a launch this September, there should be four models in the iPhone 14 lineup. Within these four models, the devices will have a slight redesign, featuring a hole and pill-shaped cutout instead of a notch. This will not only give the user more screen real estate, but the iPhone and Android devices will more closely resemble each other with this look.

Apple has been vigorously improving the iPhone’s camera in recent years, with last year’s iPhone 13 being the biggest camera upgrade in years. For the iPhone 14, we predict a noticeable camera upgrade again, this time working on auto-focus features on the front-facing camera. Due to the update, one should expect the camera bump to be slightly larger than previous models.

In addition to the camera, Apple will have a new chip, however, this time it’s only for the Pro models. The iPhone 14 and 14 Max will keep the A15 chip, just like the iPhone 13. The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will introduce the upgraded A16 chip.

While many are looking forward to the advent of a USB-C charging port instead of Lightning on the iPhone, they’ll have to wait just a bit longer. The iPhone 14 will feature the all-too-familiar Lightning port for charging. USB-C is expected to come next year on the iPhone 15.

With all this said, there could be other features joining the upcoming iPhone 14 lineup. Of the ones mentioned above, which feature are you looking forward to the most? Additionally, do you plan on upgrading your device this year? Vote in the poll and let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Riot Games, the developer behind the free first-person shooter (FPS) Valorant, will start monitoring players’ voice communications on July 13th (via PCGamer). The game company says it’s to help train the language models that it will eventually use when evaluating player reports across all its games.

Riot initially announced this change in April 2021 after making an update to its privacy policy. The new terms give Riot permission to “record and potentially evaluate voice data when using Riot-owned voice comms channels” with the purpose of combatting hate speech and harassment over voice chat. Riot says it will analyze recordings when a player reports someone for abusive or offensive comments. In turn, this should help the company determine whether the reported player violated its policies and take action accordingly.

THE ONLY WAY TO OPT OUT OF THIS SYSTEM IS TO DISABLE VOICE CHAT COMPLETELY

Riot isn’t going to start assessing player reports based on these recordings just yet — it’s using the information it collects to help build the beta of the system it expects to roll out later this year. For now, Riot will only evaluate the conversations of English-speaking Valorant players in North America. The only way to opt out of this system is to disable voice chat completely or use another communication tool, like Discord.

“We know that before we can even think of expanding this tool, we’ll have to be confident it’s effective, and if mistakes happen, we have systems in place to make sure we can correct any false positives (or negatives for that matter),” Riot notes in its announcement.

When this system is actually rolled out, Riot says that it won’t “actively monitor your live game comms” and will only “potentially listen to and review voice logs” if you’re reported for disruptive behavior. It also adds that it will delete this information after it resolves the situation, much like it does for reports made over its text-based chat systems. Even still, it’s bound to raise some players’ concerns surrounding privacy, much like the always-on Vanguard anti-cheat system that monitors your activity both in and outside of Valorant.

The planned reporting system isn’t the only way Valorant is attempting to crack down on toxic players. Earlier this year, Riot started letting Valorant players add specific words or phrases to a “muted words list” that’s supposed to help block out abusive content in chat.
