Secret Network improves on traditional smart contracts by supporting encrypted inputs and outputs and encrypted state for smart contracts — data privacy for sensitive information stored on the blockchain.

The Secret Network is built as a decentralized network of computers (secret nodes) using trusted execution environments (TEEs) to allow private and secure computing over encrypted data. TEEs function as a “black box” for data processing and are used in all kinds of everyday platforms, such as smartphones and video game consoles.

As data is encrypted and private by default, Secret Network users have “view keys” to view their sensitive data. View keys can be shared with third parties such as auditors, wallets, and explorers. They allow users to retain control over their data and decide what is shared — and with whom.
