As I wrote before, “Staking crypto is an appropriate way of earning passive income”. As an average investor, it’s one of the best options. In previous article, I made an introduction of Staking and I noticed that there were some comments concerning about the traps in staking, and they hoped to read more about this. In this article, let’s discuss the traps in staking.

High interests rate rewards

Many projects or products announce that they have high interests rate rewards, if you put your assets there without any researching, you might be fooled. Anyway, at first you do get rewards by staking, but you can’t ignore one thing, any products or projects involved staking have inflation rate. If the inflation rate is higher or the rewards can’t cover the high increasing inflation rate, your assets will less value in the end. So what’s the most important thing is, when you notice a product or a project which has a high interests rate rewards, you are suppposed to check its inflation rate, and make sure if the inflation rate is less than the interests rate.

I once saw a project/product with an unlimited inflation rate, although it has a high interests rate rewards by staking, and its APR(Annual Percentage Rate) is over 365%, which means the interest rate is more than 1% per day, I still insisted on not participating in this product. Finally, it is said that the project has gone, and it can be regarded as a scam. Fortunately, I didn’t loss any money. Overall, when you see some ad words involved high interest rate, just be careful.

High commission fees

When you have involved in crypto staking, don’t consider putting all your hopes on the node that you’ve selected. And ensuring that you should regularly check whether your node has privately increased the commission fees.

For example, when you put your assets in staking, the node’s commission fee rate is 5%, after a couple days, they privately increase the commission fee rate up to 100%, that means you don’t have any rewards by staking. Which is very common and very hateful. When you find the commission fee rate has changed, you can change the node, I suggest you guys choose those nodes with certain brand awareness.

Evil nodes

In many countrides and regions, crypto world is illegal, but which is not the reason or excuse for evilling. However, some nodes defraud investors of their assets, and this is relatively easier than traditional industries. As we all know, once you unstake your staked assets, you will not receive staking rewards immediately, it will take a period of time for the amount to be liquid.

I know some products’ period of unfrozen time is 8–21 days in Cosmos ecosystem, and some products’ period of unfrozen time is 14–28 days in Polkadot ecosystem. This setting also gives the evil nodes a certain amount of time. So be careful, and take care of your assets.

The capital background

Now that we probably meet evil nodes and scam, it’s vital of importance to do research on the product or the project that we wanna select. Anyway, before engaging with staking, please focus on learning and researching the capital background of your target product. If it is a well-known project capital background, that means the cost of eviling is high. You can ensure what you’ve selected, and you can trust it. But if it’s not, no matter how high the APR is, no matter how good a development plan they promise, no matter how clear a roadmap they have, do not trust them, do not take any chances, or you’ll pay for the price, or you’ll get punished.

Only by doing this, we can not follow other’s foot. Just like a saying says, a sheep never leads, a lion never follows. To be a sheep or a lion in the field of investment, it depends on yourself.

Don’t be anxious about investing.

As we all know, the crypto market is volatility, the price is up and down at any time. So it’s very normal that the price is puping up at this second and plummeting down next second. Which is an opportunity and a challenge as well for investors. However, how to solve this problem and how to gain much more trust and enhance brand awareness, is not only just a task for web3 developers but also a goal for web2- traditional network developers.

Someone once pointed out that, the essential way to handle these problems is increasing the speed of transactions （TPS）and the capacity of blockchain. In addition, we need to reduce the transaction fees and then make sure of the security of every transfer. Any blockchain project needs to meet the above three basic conditions simultaneously to rapidly popularize and use. Some call it The Blockchain Impossible Trinity.

That's also a major reason why Layer 2 isn't the right way to solve the ultimate problem. Neither Polygon nor Optimism or Arbitrum, just only solve the transaction fees and the transaction speed problem. 

So if one asks: is there a solution or potential project to overcome this hard work? You may probably say SUI, Aptos, Alec, and any other new blockchain projects. But frankly to say, if you have read the white papers on these projects, you would be aware of it is technically difficult to solve.

Here I recommend a project that I am very optimistic about, it's name is Sei. Sei is the fastest Layer1 (L1) blockchain that is specialized for trading and will bridge the performance gap between centralized and decentralized exchanges.

To this day, Ethereum is facing many problems, such as criticized centralized consensus mechanism, poor on-chain scalability, slow transaction speed, and high transaction fee...there is still no one public chain that can challenge Ethereum's status, especially in its ecosystem. 

According to DefiLlama, the data of Total Value Locked All Chains reach 47.64 $ billion, Ethereum accounts for 59.4% of the total, this data was larger before 2020, even reaching 93%. It shows that more and more public chains join the crypto world and building their ecosystem. Considering the influence of Ethereum, almost all the public chains support Ethereum Ecosystem(EVM), and they are compatible, even if the new public chain has been developing well, is concerns many people. When you read this, you will ask: Will there be an Ethereum Killer in 2023? Which will be an alternative to Ethereum and become the next generation Blockchain?

SUI is a layer 1 blockchain as well as Aptos， uses Move as its programming language, and the background is the same, both are related to former senior leaders of Meta's advanced blockchain research and development organization. Secondly, crypto futures is from traditional financial derivatives, it is just enhanced leverage and lack of supervision, if we think crypto futures is gambling, that means the entire financial industry is a joke. Obviously, it’s not.

Thirdly, even though more and more people believe it’s gambling, majority does not mean correct. Any new thing always grows up in the voice of doubt and negation. For example, when the first car was invented, people thought it was a funny toy. When Internet was first used, people believe it’s a joke. When Bitcoin Bible 《Bitcoin: A Peer to Peer Electronic Cash System》was published, bankers and capitalists all believed that was impossible. There are so many cases like above, and I won’t list them one by one here. What the worse news is LFG(Luna Foundation Guard）declared the reserve assets, this assets includes 313 $BTC, 39,914 $BNB, 1,973,554 $AVAX, 1,847,079,725 $UST and 222,713,007 $LUNA，which is almost impossible to make the price of $LUNA and $UST to restore. At this time, a voice came from the community of Terra, it is to use a new mechanism to burn 90% of the existing token of $Luna. By doing this to enable the price can restore.

Unfortunately, this suggestion was not adopted by LFG. So after Binance resumed spot trading pairs at $LUNA/$BUSD, the price of them had no much increasing. Even though, I think Terra $LUNA won’t be dead. Here are four reasons:

1、For the reserve assets, more than 8,000 $BTC was missing. No matter whether the founder of Terra or LFG, did not mentioned about that.

2、$LUNA used to be the fourth largest crypto assets, it is based on strong consensus from crypto community of Terra. And thousands of crypto community members and blockchain technological developers are still trying their best to solve the problem.

3、No matter Terra or $LUNA, it’s a famous branding in crypto industry. And as we all known, community consensus and popularity of branding are important in every industry, especially in crypto, which means you can cost fewer to do something in marketing. So I believe it’s better to solve the problem that they have to face rather than to create another new project.

4、If the founder of Terra or LFG can solve the problem and enable the price of $LUNA restore, it will make a big miracle for crypto industry. Investors will trust them more and will make the community consensus strengthen.

The cryptocurrency and blockchain most investors talk about currently not because they are the technologies that can change the world but chances to catch wealth. 那么，问题来了：一个在2017年就启动的链，为何在销声匿迹了近4年之后，突然在支持Polkadot的钱包Polkawallet中出现呢？骆驼结合行业内其它链的案例，总结出可能有如下几种情况：

1、基础设施逐渐完善，生态有所动作

作为价值互联网，区块链项目的进展非常缓慢。不光是世界级的大项目，从基础设施的部署到生态的落地，动则数年，且未必尽如人意，比如公链之王以太坊，比如最近因为俄乌战争之后涨了几倍的Waves，比如举步维艰的BCH、ETC等等；更有甚者，引来骂声连连，比如上线就声称对标ETH最后留下一地鸡毛遭人诟病的EOS，还有BSV……这些项目的进展都非常缓慢，但一旦基础设施铺设完毕，生态启动，等待它的，则是一日千里。

目前要看链上生态的发展情况，链上TVL（Total Locked）是一个比较普遍达成共识的指标。但从链上TVL的排名来看，前100都没看到DBC的身影。目前骆驼是没有发现可以看到TVL 100名开外的工具，如果DBC的TVL恰好排在100名开外，那另当别论，后续很可能会成为黑马。

2、虚假繁荣是表象，圈钱是目的

如果只是归零前的回光返照，虚假繁荣只是表象。DBC毕竟也是国产项目，在行业里的名声都不是很好，背后的原因，不可描述，大家自行理解。

3、旧饭新炒，包装新的概念

Polkawallet支持的项目，那必须要跟波卡生态相关。DBC作为一个曾经有过热度如今半只脚已经入土的老链，要想盘活，只能旧饭新炒，包装新的概念。在从去年到今年的这一轮为期近一年的上涨行情当中，跨链无疑是一大热点。从跨链的众多分支来看，波卡又是一个最容易接触的项目——毕竟国产项目多，比如ACA、CHAINX、EDG等，都属于国产。这里并非有贬低之意，假设DBC真的要做跨链，以COSMOS和Polkadot这两条链来对比，定然选择后者要容易得多，不是技术方面的问题，而是基因决定了。

大家可以看看ACA，未上线时也是漫天吹嘘，结果上线BiNANCE当天，价格让一级二级投资者大跌眼镜。接盘侠中5美金的不在少数，更有的经过多轮换手，把场外成本炒到了10美金以上，而如今这个币种的价格在1美金左右徘徊，骂声朝着ACA项目方劈头盖脸而去……

综上所述，Polkawallet支持的这个DBC，大家谨慎吧。当然，如果某一天DBC的生态真的做起来了，或者这条链真的能够让骆驼这篇文章打脸啪啪响，那骆驼也是接受这种事实的鞭策的。大家如果真的想埋伏波卡生态的项目，建议寻找有国外背景的，比如Parallel (PARA)。
