In 2021, Xiling autumn shot the painting of the beginning and end of the stream bridge, which was made in the short period when his eyesight had just recovered at the age of 91. Because he still had a relatively “black” painting method, he rarely applied “red spots and green rust”. Huang Binhong once operated an antique shop in Shanghai and collected a large number of bronzes. Inspired by it, he painted with the “red spots and green rust” of bronzes, reaching the highest level of “ink conceals ink, ink conceals ink”.

At the age of 91, Huang Binhong participated in the “observation meeting of Mr. Huang Binhong’s works” held by the East China Artists Association. After the meeting, all the exhibition works were donated. Therefore, most of Huang Binhong’s works at the age of 91 were collected by institutions, with little market circulation. In his later years, Huang Binhong devoted himself to explaining the Jin catch of epigraphy, especially in clarifying the value of “the resurgence of Daoxian painting”. Daoxian painter imitated Wu Yun, the four kings, in the origin of art, and achieved ZTE after absorbing the achievements of epigraphy. (Li Ming’s original meaning of “pen and ink” of Huang Binhong’s theory of “resurgence of Daoxian painting learning”).

Besides using a pen, there is also ink. During the reign of Daoxian, following the example of Dong juwu town and Wumen gold and stone painters, Huang Binhong was greatly inspired by the three inks of “wet, thick and black”. Jiaben, the ink is bright. At that time, this kind of gold and stone painters’ attention to the ink color of rubbings formed a parallel relationship with their attention to ink method in painting.

More importantly, the visual resources in Daoxian Jinshi circle are not only rubbings, but also a large number of physical objects. Oracle bones, pottery, ancient jade, Shang and Zhou bronze. These tangible material forms, as a kind of visual experience, constitute the “golden stone gas” in the artistic creation of calligraphy and painting as a whole.

The visual cultivation of calligraphy and painting creation is not only related to the calligraphy and painting resources of the previous generation, but also depends on the selection, preservation and guidance of the collection of all kinds of ancient art. This is the constant clarification of Huang Binhong’s painting theory.

“Red spots and green rust” - that is, Huang Binhong imperceptibly inherited the material form of bronze and Liangzhu ancient jade as resource enjoyment and artistic blood in his later years.

In 1956, Hangzhou newspaper published a picture. In 1948, the last place where Mr. Yuehong studied in Hangzhou was the Xiaoyao temple, which was built by Mr. Yuehong in 1955. It is said that in those days, the two sides of BingOn’s bedroom were nailed and connected in series with lead wires. His unfinished works were hanging on the lead wires in rows like drying clothes. The newspaper recorded the indoor furnishings: a picture taken in his later years was hung on the wall, and some cultural relics collected by Mr. Huang were displayed around the painting table, which reflected that the scope of his academic research was very broad.

Four years ago, spring. Huang Binhong invited Zhu Yan, a student, to visit Hangzhou to observe ancient paintings and talk about the theory of painting, which was recorded by Zhu. That year, cataracts worsened rapidly, and his eyes were almost blind. He continued to paint, and his painting style was new.

According to Qian Juntao’s “Huang Binhong and Bai Jiao on art records”, since 1939, old bin has been troubled by cataract and eye diseases. In the second half of 1951, the eye disease worsened, and I couldn’t control myself. Next autumn, when he was almost blind, he talked with Bai Jiao about his art. Although his pen was old, his handwriting was blurred in many places, and there was a lot of lack of pen, with the words “eyes suffering from hasty dizziness”.
