1. ¿Cómo entraste en Base? ¿Fue amor a primera vista o te enamoraste con el tiempo?

Formé parte del equipo original que lanzó Base y lideré nuestro primer gran evento, Onchain Summer, que fue una invitación abierta al mundo para que construyera con nosotros. Me entusiasmó la visión desde el primer día, y ha sido una experiencia increíble crecer junto al equipo y la comunidad.

2. Si tuvieras que explicarle a tu abuela qué haces en Base, ¿Cómo lo harías en una frase?

Ayudo a reconstruir Internet de una mejor manera: una que sea propiedad de la gente y esté dirigida por ella.

3. ¿Cuál ha sido el momento más loco o inesperado que has vivido trabajando en Base?

Antes de zarpar, nos refugiamos en cabañas en los bosques de Idyllwild, trasnochando para tenerlo todo listo. Fue caótico, complicado e inolvidable.

4. Si Base fuera una persona en una fiesta, ¿Cómo la describirías? ¿El alma de la fiesta, el estratega silencioso o el que une a todos?

Ellos serían quienes unirían a todos y siempre se asegurarían de que todos se sintieran como en casa.

5. Si pudieras viajar en el tiempo y darte un consejo de cuando empezaste en este mundo, ¿qué te dirías?

Sé tú mismo. No tengas miedo de arriesgarte. Las mejores cosas suceden cuando estás fuera de tu zona de confort.

Hi, I’m Aneri, a Product Manager at Base. I come from a background of building for consumers and creators, and I’ve always been driven by finding better ways for creators to earn on their own terms. That passion brought me to the onchain space. Today, I focus on building products that empower people to create, connect, and thrive in a new internet owned by all of us.

1. How did you get into Base? Was it love at first sight, or did you fall in love over time?

I was on the original team that launched Base and led our first big moment — Onchain Summer — which was an open invitation to the world to build with us. I’ve been excited about the vision from day one, and it’s been an incredible journey growing alongside the team and community.

2. If you had to explain to your grandmother what you do at Base, how would you do it in one sentence?

I help rebuild the internet in a better way — one that’s owned and run by the people

3. What has been the craziest or most unexpected moment you've experienced working for Base?

Before we launched, we were tucked away in cabins in the woods of Idyllwild, pulling late nights to get everything ready. It was chaotic, scrappy, and unforgettable.

4. If Base were a person at a party, how would you describe them? The life of the party, the silent strategist, or the one who brings everyone together?

They’d be the one who brings everyone together, and always making sure everyone feels like they belong.

5. If you could travel back in time and give yourself advice from when you first started in this world, what would you tell yourself?

Be yourself. Don’t be afraid to take risks. The best things happen when you’re outside your comfort zone.

¡Hola, soy Sohey! Nací en El Salvador, crecí en Australia y ahora vivo en los Países Bajos. Soy desarrolladora frontend y me apasiona crear experiencias digitales intuitivas y divertidas. Cuando no estoy creando interfaces, soy la orgullosa mamá de dos gatitos traviesos (pero adorables).

El primer proyecto que desarrollé en Base fue en un hackathon @ETHGlobal en Nueva York. Después, me uní a una transmisión comunitaria y al instante sentí la onda: fue amor a primera vista. Me impresionó que Base no se tratara solo de infraestructura, sino de impulsar las aplicaciones de consumo y apoyar a los desarrolladores. Ese nivel de apoyo hizo que me enamorara rápidamente.

2. Si tuvieras que explicarle a tu abuela qué haces en Base, ¿Cómo lo harías en una frase?

Ayudo a las personas a tener éxito asegurándome de que se sientan vistas, apoyadas y tengan las herramientas que necesitan para crecer y prosperar.

3. ¿Cuál ha sido el momento más loco o inesperado que has vivido trabajando en Base?

Empecé hace solo dos semanas, así que todavía no tengo historias increíbles. Pero, sinceramente, cada vez que alguien me dice que le ayudé o que le facilité algo, me alegra el día. Ese tipo de impacto es lo que busco aquí.

4. Si Base fuera una persona en una fiesta, ¿Cómo la describirías? ¿El alma de la fiesta, el estratega silencioso o el que une a todos?

Base es el adorable Labrador de la fiesta: amable, leal, lleno de energía y siempre haciendo que la gente se sienta bienvenida. Simplemente quieres pasar tiempo con ellos porque hacen que todos se sientan como en casa.

5. Si pudieras viajar en el tiempo y darte un consejo de cuando empezaste en este mundo, ¿qué te dirías?

La amabilidad es una fortaleza, no una debilidad. Ser genuinamente amable y mostrarte tal como eres es un superpoder; nunca dejes que nadie te convenza de lo contrario.

Hi, I’m Sohey! Born in El Salvador, raised in Australia, and now calling the Netherlands home. I’m a frontend developer with a love for building intuitive, playful digital experiences. When I’m not crafting interfaces, I’m being a proud cat mum to two mischievous (but adorable) kitties.

1. How did you get into Base? Was it love at first sight, or did you fall in love over time?

The first project I ever built on Base was at an @ETHGlobal hackathon in New York. After that, I joined a community stream and instantly felt the vibe—it was absolutely love at first sight. I was blown away that Base wasn’t just about infrastructure, but about championing consumer apps and truly showing up for builders. That level of support made it really easy to fall in love fast.

2. If you had to explain to your grandmother what you do at Base, how would you do it in one sentence?

I help people succeed by making sure they feel seen, supported, and have the tools they need to grow and thrive.

3. What has been the craziest or most unexpected moment you've experienced working for Base?

I only started two weeks ago, so no wild stories yet—but honestly, every time someone tells me I helped them or made something easier, it totally makes my day. That kind of impact is what I’m here for.

4. If Base were a person at a party, how would you describe them? The life of the party, the silent strategist, or the one who brings everyone together?

Base is the lovable Labrador of the party—kind, loyal, full of energy, and always making people feel welcome. You just want to hang out with them because they make everyone feel like they belong.

5. If you could travel back in time and give yourself advice from when you first started in this world, what would you tell yourself?

Kindness is a strength, not a weakness. Being genuinely kind and showing up as yourself is a superpower—don’t ever let anyone convince you otherwise.

Hola, soy Ceren, Community Manager de Base. Vengo de una formación en artes y arqueología y siempre me ha encantado construir cosas desde cero. Eso, naturalmente, me llevó al espacio onchain. Ahora me concentro en empoderar a los constructores, amplificar a los creadores y nutrir una comunidad global que esté incorporando a la cadena a los próximos mil millones de personas.

1. ¿Cómo llegaste a la Base? ¿Fue amor a primera vista o te enamoraste con el tiempo? 

Fue un poco de ambas cosas. Primero me enamoré de la idea de Base: descentralizada, inclusiva y audaz. Pero la verdadera magia llegó cuando comencé a contribuir a la comunidad. No me contrataron a través de una oferta de trabajo. Simplemente estaba construyendo, apareciendo, basándose. Con el tiempo, mis contribuciones fueron reconocidas y me uní oficialmente. Sigue siendo surrealista que me paguen por hacer lo que amo: apoyar a esta increíble comunidad y fomentar la cultura de los constructores.

2. Si tuvieras que explicarle a tu abuela a qué te dedicas en la Base, ¿cómo lo harías en una frase?
Ayudo a personas de todo el mundo a utilizar nueva tecnología excelente para crear, ganar dinero y conectarse sin necesidad de permiso de bancos o grandes empresas de tecnología.

3. ¿Cuál ha sido el momento más loco o inesperado que has vivido trabajando en Base?

En el momento en que realmente me di cuenta de lo global que es este movimiento. En una tarde, estaba respondiendo mensajes directos de constructores en Nigeria, atendiendo una llamada con creadores en Argentina, trabajando con un traductor de Indonesia, coordinando un taller de construcción en Pakistán y uniéndome a un X Space organizado por constructores en San Francisco, ¡todo sucediendo simultáneamente!

Base es como un potente motor impulsado por una increíble comunidad global, que se construye en tiempo real desde todos los rincones del mundo. Ese tipo de conexión, escala y energía todavía me deja boquiabierto.

4. Si Base fuera una persona en una fiesta, ¿cómo la describirías?

Base es quien hace la fiesta y une a todos. No son ruidosos, pero cuando hablan, todos escuchan. Base es amable, humilde y siempre busca formas de apoyarte, conectarte con alguien que pueda ayudarte y que realmente quiera que ganes. Base hace que el espacio se sienta seguro y emocionante al mismo tiempo.

5. Si pudieras viajar en el tiempo y darte consejos de cuando empezaste en este mundo, ¿qué te dirías?

¡Simplemente constrúyelo! Deja de esperar permiso, preséntate y contribuye. El mundo onchain recompensa la acción y la pasión. Ah, y documente todo. Tu viaje podría inspirar a alguien algún día.

Hi, I’m Ceren, Community Manager at Base. I come from an arts and archaeology background and I’ve always loved building things from the ground up. That naturally led me to the onchain space. Now I focus on empowering builders, amplifying creators, and nurturing a global community that’s bringing the next billion people onchain.

1. How did you get into Base? Was it love at first sight, or did you fall in love over time? 

It was a bit of both. I first fell in love with the idea of Base—decentralized, inclusive, bold. But the real magic came when I started contributing to the community. I wasn’t hired through a job listing. I was just building, showing up, being based. Over time, my contributions were recognized, and I officially joined. It’s still surreal that I get paid to do what I love: supporting this incredible community and nurturing the builder culture.

2. If you had to explain to your grandmother what you do at Base, how would you do it in one sentence?
I help people from all over the world use great new technology to create, earn money, and connect without needing permission from banks or big technology companies.

3. What has been the craziest or most unexpected moment you've experienced working for Base?

The moment it truly hit me just how global this movement is. In one afternoon, I was answering DMs from builders in Nigeria, hopping on a call with creators in Argentina, working with a translator from Indonesia, coordinating a builder workshop in Pakistan, and joining an X Space hosted by builders in San Francisco—all happening simultaneously!

Base is like a powerful engine fueled by an incredible global community, building together in real-time from every corner of the world. That kind of connection, scale, and energy still blows my mind.

4. If Base were a person at a party, how would you describe them?

Base is the one who throws the party and brings everyone together. They're not loud, but when they speak, everyone listens. Base is kind, humble and always looking for ways to support you, connect you with someone who can help, and genuinely want you to win. Base makes the space feel safe and exciting at the same time.

5. If you could travel back in time and give yourself advice from when you first started in this world, what would you tell yourself?

Just build it! Stop waiting for permission, show up and contribute. The onchain world rewards action and passion. Oh—and document everything. Your journey might inspire someone one day.

I’d love to hear from someone in our Based Global Communities. Sohey has been doing incredible grassroots work in Amsterdam, bringing the spirit of Base to life at the local level.
