Regardless of background, age, and culture, most of us can recall a time when animated characters captured our attention, and in doing so, our hearts. Since the early days of Mickey Mouse, the relationship between beloved characters and the communities who adore them has evolved from only consuming content on the “big screen” to the small one in our hands. The internet has created a “white space” in the market, an opportunity to launch the next generation’s favorite animated franchises on social media – meeting audiences in a frictionless way while tapping into massive distribution.

Invisible Universe, aka the team behind this post, has been quietly launching and growing animated character IP that has amassed millions of followers. We believe that the relationship between communities and the animated characters they love can create a shared experience that is celebrated for years to come.

The heart of the company’s mission is: telling stories that allow communities to have a closer, more regular, and more interactive relationship with the characters they love. Invisible Universe has achieved this through distributing on web2 social platforms, building a quick-turn animation studio, and partnering with writers who hail from DreamWorks and Disney to come build with us. We’re on the precipice of massive changes in the way stories are told and it’s in no small way thanks to Web3. Blockchain technology has created massive shifts in the way communities can and will have ownership in the future. It’s also birthed new opportunities to introduce beloved characters and build worlds in which fans and communities can actually share in the value. Invisible Universe believes in the idea of BUILDING IN PUBLIC and has always embraced that ethos. Now for the first time, web3 communities can see and be a part of the creative process behind a short form animated series… oh, and it’s starring NFTs.

This is The R3al Metaverse!

The R3al Metaverse is a pseudo-social experiment developed by the team at Invisible Universe who come from a mix of television, animation, and community building backgrounds. The scripted, animated series will put five NFTs from some of the most popular communities - BAYC, Doodles, Cool Cats, Robotos and World of Women - in a house together where they’ll travel from the metaverse to live and experience the real world for the very first time!

Our goal is to build an animated universe driven by the community. The characters were designed and inspired by NFTs with approval from each project’s creators; Bored Ape Yacht Club, Doodles, Cool Cat, World of Women, and Robotos. Our aim is to surprise, delight, and entertain the communities who have rallied around these respected NFT projects while also engaging new audiences in a format they know and love. This world is an extension of Invisible Universe, and one we want to grow with our community, fans, and existing characters (e.g. Qai Qai in partnership with Serena Williams, or Clydeo in partnership with Jennifer Aniston).

We came up with the idea of The R3al Metaverse in December and have hit the ground running ever since. We’ve hired over 10 team members who have been living and breathing this project including community builders from Web3 projects, writers, animators, and artists. In just two months, we developed each character’s personality, backstory, and design and are in the early stages of film prep, where we’ll shoot in an actual reality show mansion in Hollywood with 5 actors whose performances will later get animated!

Over the next few weeks, we’re sharing updates on the project and opening our Discord as we work towards the release of the first episode. In order to create a space for fans and those that want to contribute, the Discord will open for a limited period of time from 2/9-2/13. Once closed, our Discord will become invite only. We can’t wait to share the first episode with you all, but until then, lights, camera, and *buidl.
