During the early phases of social media, creators were at the mercy of centralized platforms, keeping them stuck on their platforms despite providing a less than ideal experience.   With centralized platforms being able to make changes as and when they like, it would not be ideal to rely on a centralized platform to act in your best interest especially when monetization comes into play. There's always the possibility in which centralized platforms could take certain measures in trying to shut out these SocialFi platforms building on their centralized social graph especially when they feel that they do not get a sufficient “slice of the pie”.

They can continue posting as per normal, and the only thing they need to do is to activate their social profile on JamFrens.

• Content Discovery

  Due to any user being able to discover any creator as long as they are posting, without buying their key to be in their room, this supports content discovery and we are integrating Tako Protocol’s technology to enable more accurate and precise matching of content to a creator’s target audience.

By allowing creators who are consistent in posting content within decentralized socials, they will be shown more within the feed and thus encourages creators to be active on Web3 Social. All creators have a chance to be seen and discovered by audiences on the app.

In other thoughts, being based on a centralized social graph is the key difference why friend.tech cannot scale and enable more utility for key holders. It will come to a point where once the speculative aspect dies down, so will the activity within the platform slowly fade out. There are many ways that creators can leverage their Social Capital to monetize their influence or content. With reference to what we are familiar with within the Crypto Space, these could come in various forms e.g. paid groups, referral links or even subscription based/gated articles/content and many more.

The Right Place at the Wrong Time

We have seen many products that tried to replicate these forms of Social Capital, with some even experimenting with the tokenization aspect but failed to sustain in the long run. A significant reason we think is because they were at the “right place at the wrong time”. Many users at that point, did not realize that their Social Profile had a value to it.

Year 2023, “Web3” is still seen as a highly speculative and unsustainable industry by many. It is quite apparent that we are also in an age where social media is a huge part of our daily lives, and the content we see online heavily influences the way we think, the way we act etc, whether we notice it or not.

Web3 Social, a concept thought impossible to do, is something still foreign to many. With users’ social graphs largely dominated by and stuck on centralized platforms, with these platforms having control over the masses throughout many years, it does not seem that many would bother even trying these decentralized social applications, let alone stay and use it. Therefore, Web3 Social should be more than just replicating Web2 Social.
