Many people ask themselves how is it to be in an important position at any company, and what comes first to the mind of a lot of people is just the position of CEO (Chief Executive Officer), for sure it is a very important position and roll into any organization because it’s the head of the hole company and also is the one who in the very front line. But the truth is that many people don’t even notice the rest of the stairs that are behind the CEO, there is a whole world about the different roles that exist and this comes up with the CXO roles.

These CXO roles come up to accomplish and cover the different areas and needs of any company and they are as much important and relevant as the CEO position, some of them are COO (Chief Operating Officer), CFO (Chief Financial Officer), CMO (Chief Marketing Officer), CLO (Chief Legal Officer), CTO (Chief Technology Officer), and some more that have different relevance into the development and progress of any organization. It is also relevant that these whole positions have a balance along them in a way that all of them have to make their departments perform as well as the desire of the company.

With the previous information that was what I personally perceived and learn from this trimester in the EGADE Business School, part of the subject in which my classmates and I were assigned to it was to learn about the implementation of different methodologies and technologies that could bring a big value for any company. Part of this journey into learning the new technologies that could set e better future for organizations, was when we had to learn and identify who will be using these technologies and how will they be implementing them in their teams. It is important to say that each one of the positions of the CXO could use any tool that conveys their projects for the benefit of the organization.

That’s why an activity during the course was about choosing roles that we think we can fit, and for that reason, most of my classmates wanted to be a CEO because everyone wants to be on the top but in my perception, you have to go through the whole stairs to reach the top. At some point in the dynamic along the course we had to make the tough decision to change roles depending on our desire and abilities that we thought we needed to improve or let others have the chance to be in the position because the roles defined the activities that we were supposed to perform and how do we should act during the presentations.

After some weeks of these activities, the main project of the course had a twist, that twist was because we had to change the project with the “competition” and this was a challenging path because we needed to see the other's projects with different eyes and perceive it as the roles we were developing. This was interesting because we could realize that the role we had chosen wasn’t a differentiator of how each of the team members proposed different and new ideas for the new upgrade of the project.

Coming back to the technology topics we were talking about for the class; we were able to have a tour of the technologies that TEC de Monterrey is working with and that are developing in the academic field. This could allow us to think about how we could apply this kind of technology to our projects and even tough to think about how we could apply this to some businesses.

Some of the tools that caught specially our attention were the Blockchain, Metaverse, and Virtual Reality. Especially the implementation of Blockchain opened our minds to how this could work to provide a network where the user feels that their information is safe, and won’t be shared against their will.

Finally, the main knowledge of the course is very valuable, we were able to have the chance to feel the experience of being in fictional roles that allow us to give the idea of how these people perform in the real world, and how they need to keep a good relationship with the rest of the heads of the organization. Also, an important point that got into our minds is that anyone who is inside the team can come out with ideas that must be heard by the rest of the team because not necessarily the heads have to give the ideas, sometimes the team member that you never expect could come with the millionaire idea that provides the organization a new chance to increase their value into the market.
