Stepping into Web3 can feel like diving into an entirely new universe—exciting, full of potential, but also overwhelming. Where do you start? Who do you turn to? That’s where Based Noobs comes in. Created by a group of ten Web3 explorers who were once in the same boat, this NFT community is built on the idea that everyone in Web3 is a noob at some point—and that’s something to embrace. Whether you're just minting your first NFT or already experimenting with smart contracts, Based Noobs is your space to learn, grow, and navigate this decentralized world together.

A Community Built by Noobs, for Noobs with

❤️

Based Noobs was conceived with the belief that every individual venturing into on-chain development is starting afresh, with endless opportunities to learn and evolve. The term "noob," often used to describe beginners, is embraced here as a badge of honor, symbolizing the courage to start anew and the excitement of discovery. The project's mission is to cultivate a supportive community where members can share experiences, resources, and encouragement as they navigate the complexities of Web3 together. Central to the Based Noobs community is its unique NFT collection, designed to be both accessible and engaging for newcomers. The collection comprises 4,200 NFTs, each representing a facet of the noob experience in the Web3 realm. These digital collectibles serve not only as avatars but also as symbols of one's commitment to learning and growing within the community.

🟣Minting Details: Welcoming Newcomers

Understanding the challenges that beginners might face, Based Noobs has structured its minting process to be inclusive and straightforward:

Whitelist Minting: The initial phase is reserved for whitelist members, offering them the opportunity to mint up to five NFTs per wallet at a modest price of 0.00069 ETH each. This approach ensures early supporters and community members have prioritized access.

Public Sale: Following the whitelist phase, the public sale allows for up to ten mints per wallet, with each NFT priced at 0.0023 ETH. This tiered pricing strategy maintains affordability, encouraging broader participation without imposing significant financial barriers. Mint a NFT now to be a part of this community:

https://launchpad.heymint.xyz/mint/basednoobs

Connecting with the Community: Based Noobs extends its presence across various platforms, fostering a vibrant and interactive community:

✅ Twitter: Stay updated with the latest announcements, discussions, and community highlights by following their official Twitter handle:

https://x.com/BasedNoobs

✅ Warpcast Channel: Engage in deeper conversations, access exclusive content, and connect with fellow noobs through their Warpcast channel:

https://warpcast.com/~/channel/based-noobs

Why Join Based Noobs?

For those standing at the threshold of the Web3 universe, Based Noobs offers an inviting gateway:

🔵 Supportive Environment: Join a network of individuals who are equally eager to learn, share, and grow in the Web3 space.

🔵 Affordable Entry: With thoughtfully set minting prices, newcomers can participate without significant financial commitments.

🔵 Continuous Learning: Access to resources, discussions, and collaborations that facilitate ongoing education and skill development in the decentralized world.

Embarking on a Web3 journey can be daunting, but with Based Noobs, you're never alone. If you’re an artist, a collector, or simply a blockchain enthusiast eager to explore a fresh medium, this guide will walk you through what pixel art NFTs are, how Dixel Club works, and why it’s the perfect platform to launch your own NFT collection.

What Is a Pixel Art NFT?

Pixel art NFTs are digital assets created using a style reminiscent of retro video game graphics. Their simplicity and nostalgic appeal make them instantly recognizable. But beyond their charming aesthetic, these NFTs are fully secured on the blockchain, ensuring their authenticity, scarcity, and permanence. Every pixel is part of an immutable record, turning what might seem like a simple art form into a valuable collectible that carries verifiable ownership.

Introducing Dixel Club:

http://dixel.club/

Dixel Club is a cutting-edge, on-chain pixel art NFT platform designed for creators of all levels. Its unique standout points include:

Fully On-Chain Storage: Every piece of pixel art is recorded on the blockchain, ensuring that your creations remain immutable and permanently accessible.

Collaborative Art Creation: Dixel Club isn’t just about creating standalone art pieces. This secure integration allows you to manage your assets and pay for any associated fees directly on the platform.

Use the On-Chain Pixel Editor Once your wallet is connected, dive into the creative process with Dixel Club’s intuitive pixel editor. The platform guides you step by step to:

Design Unique Pixel Art: Draw your art directly in the browser, adjusting colors, pixels, and dimensions to bring your vision to life.

Set Metadata: Provide details like the title, description, and any attributes that make your NFT stand out.

Mint Your Creation When you’re satisfied with your design, you can mint your NFT directly on the blockchain. This process:

Permanently records your art as a digital asset.

Ensures that all associated metadata and visual data are immutable.

Provides you with full ownership of your creation, ready to be sold or traded in the digital marketplace.

Understanding the Costs: What Does It Take to Create on Dixel Club?

The cost structure on Dixel Club is designed to be both fair and transparent, ensuring that creators can focus on their art while contributing to the ecosystem’s sustainability. Here’s what you need to know:

Minting Fee: A small fee is charged during the initial minting process. This fee covers the blockchain storage cost and ensures your NFT is permanently recorded

Transaction Fees: Like most blockchain platforms, Dixel Club also requires payment of standard network (gas) fees during transactions. These can vary based on network congestion but are essential for the security and maintenance of the blockchain. These fees help maintain the platform’s infrastructure and incentivize continuous collaboration, ensuring that every creative contribution is valued.

Here are the detailed fee table:

Different Fee on Dixel Club

Why Dixel Club Is the Perfect Platform for Your NFT Journey:

True Ownership and Security: With all data stored on-chain, your creations are permanently secured, and their authenticity is verifiable.

Community-Driven Innovation: Engage with a vibrant community of artists and collectors who are passionate about pixel art and digital ownership.

Sustainable Revenue Model: Earn ongoing rewards from every sale on created NFT, making every contribution financially meaningful.

Limited Supply for Greater Value: The platform’s limited NFT supply mechanism creates scarcity, potentially increasing the value of your art over time.

Dixel Club isn’t just a platform - it’s a movement that redefines how we interact with digital art. Initially launched as a monthly grant system, the Builder Grant V1 rewarded the top three builders who received the most 👏 each month with Mini Building NFTs on Base Chain. The rewards are 100, 60, 40 Mini Buildings to the top 3 builders respectively.

But Web3 moves fast, and so does Hunt Town. To make the system more dynamic, fair, and engaging, a major upgrade has arrived: Builder Grant V2. This new version introduces daily builder rewards, ensuring that Web3 builders get recognized and rewarded more frequently for their contributions.

What is the Hunt Town Builder Grant?

The Builder Grant is a reward system designed to recognize and incentivize Web3 builders based on their engagement and contributions.

📈 Evolution from V1 to V2:

V1 (Old System): The top 3 builders of the month (based on 👏 received) were rewarded with a Mini Building on Base.

V2 (New System): The grant is now awarded daily, with the top 3 builders of the day receiving medals and Mini Buildings as rewards.

This shift makes the system more dynamic and engaging, rewarding active builders every single day instead of waiting for month-end results.

How Does Builder Grant V2 Work?

🏆 Daily Builder Grant System Every day, based on UTC time, the top 3 builders who receive the most claps on Warpcast (do give me a follow 😜) earn medals and Mini Buildings as rewards everyday, which can be claimable at the end of the month. If the gas consumed by the transaction exceeds this limit, the transaction fails.

Gas Price: This is the amount of ether you're willing to pay per unit of gas. Higher gas prices can incentivize miners to prioritize your transaction.

Best Optimization Techniques⚡for Reducing Gas

Optimizing gas consumption is critical for developers looking to deploy efficient and cost-effective smart contracts. Here are some of the best practices:

Minimize Storage Operations: Storage operations (SSTORE and SLOAD) are among the most gas-intensive. Reducing the number of storage writes and reads can significantly lower gas costs.

Use Bitwise Operations: Bitwise operations are cheaper than arithmetic operations. Using them for certain calculations can save gas.

Optimize Loops: Ensure loops have a fixed upper bound and avoid unbounded loops. This prevents excessive gas consumption and potential out-of-gas errors.

Batch Operations: Batch multiple transactions into a single transaction when possible to reduce overall gas consumption.

Use the Latest Solidity Version: Newer versions of Solidity often come with optimizations and improvements that can help reduce gas costs.

Short Tips to Follow👇

Avoid Unnecessary Computations: Perform as many computations off-chain as possible to save on gas.

Leverage Immutable Variables: Immutable variables are set once and cannot be changed, saving gas compared to mutable storage variables.

Use Libraries Wisely: Libraries can reduce bytecode size, but excessive use can increase gas costs. Balance their use to optimize gas consumption.

Optimize Data Structures: Use more gas-efficient data structures, such as mappings instead of arrays, when appropriate.

Consider Gas Tokens: Gas tokens can help reduce gas costs during periods of high network congestion by leveraging storage refunds.

Optimizing gas in Ethereum smart contracts is not just about reducing costs; it also enhances the efficiency and performance of the blockchain.

By following best practices and leveraging the latest tools and techniques, developers can create more robust and cost-effective smart contracts.

⚠️ Note: I have created this blog from my understanding and learning at #BRBBootcamp by Push Builders.

Welcome to this blog ✍️ !! Let’s deep dive into Escrow in Web3⤵️

What is Escrow🤔?

Escrow is a financial arrangement where a third party holds and regulates the payment of funds required for two parties involved in a given transaction. It helps make transactions more secure by keeping the payment in a secure escrow account, which is only released when all of the terms of an agreement are met as overseen by the escrow company.

What is Decentralized Escrow❓

Decentralized escrow takes this traditional concept and applies it within the realm of blockchain and cryptocurrencies. Unlike traditional escrow services that rely on centralized intermediaries (banks or escrow companies), decentralized escrow is managed by smart contracts on the blockchain. This ensures trustless, automated transactions without the need for a middleman.

✅ Features of Escrow:

Security: Funds are held securely and only released when contractual conditions are met.

Transparency: All transactions and conditions are transparent and immutable on the blockchain.

Automation: Smart contracts automate the release of funds based on predefined conditions.

Impartiality: The decentralized nature ensures no bias or human error.

Reduced Costs: Lower fees compared to traditional escrow services due to the elimination of intermediaries.

How Escrow is Impacting Web3⚡

Escrow services in web3 are transforming how transactions are conducted. By leveraging blockchain technology, decentralized escrow provides a more secure, transparent, and efficient way to manage transactions. This impacts various industries, including real estate, freelance services, e-commerce, and DeFi (Decentralized Finance).

👍Benefits of Escrow

Enhanced Security: Funds are held securely until all parties meet the terms of the agreement.

Trustless Transactions: No need for mutual trust between parties as the smart contract enforces terms.

Cost Efficiency: Lower transaction fees compared to traditional escrow services.

Speed: Transactions are faster due to automation by smart contracts.

Global Reach: Can be used globally without the need for local intermediaries.

Use Cases🛠️of Escrow

Real Estate Transactions: Ensuring the buyer’s funds are securely held until property ownership is verified.

Freelance and Contract Work: Payment is only released to freelancers once the work is completed to satisfaction.

E-commerce: Secure transactions where funds are only released when the buyer confirms receipt of goods.

ICO/STO Fundraising: Ensuring investor funds are held securely until project milestones are met.

Peer-to-Peer Lending: Securely holding loan funds until the borrower meets repayment terms.

How Escrow Works in Web3↘️

In the context of decentralized transactions, escrow works by utilizing smart contracts on the blockchain. Here's how it typically operates:

Agreement Setup: Two parties agree on terms and conditions, which are encoded into a smart contract.

Fund Deposit: The buyer deposits funds into the smart contract.

Condition Fulfillment: The seller fulfills the conditions outlined in the contract (e.g., delivering goods or services).

Fund Release: Once the conditions are met, the smart contract automatically releases the funds to the seller.

Some Example Scenarios are:

Buying Digital Assets: Alice wants to buy a digital asset from Bob.

Welcome to this blog ✍️ !! Let’s deep dive into the smart contracts ⤵️

What is a Smart Contract❓

A smart contract is a self-executing digital agreement encoded on a blockchain. Imagine a vending machine: you insert money, select an item, and the machine automatically dispenses it. Similarly, smart contracts automatically execute transactions and agreements when predefined conditions are met, eliminating the need for intermediaries.

History⏳ of Smart Contracts

Smart contracts were first introduced in 1994 by computer scientist Nick Szabo. Szabo envisioned these digital contracts as a way to facilitate, verify, or enforce the negotiation or performance of a contract. He proposed the idea of "Bit Gold" in 1998, a precursor to Bitcoin, and his work laid the foundation for the development of blockchain-based smart contracts.

Szabo is often rumored to be the real Satoshi Nakamoto, the anonymous Bitcoin inventor, which he has denied.

How Smart Contracts Work🤔

Smart contracts are coded using blockchain-compatible programming languages like Solidity, most commonly on the Ethereum platform. They consist of rules and conditions written in code, which automatically execute transactions when the conditions are met. For example, in a real estate transaction, a smart contract could release funds to the seller once the buyer has confirmed receipt of the property deed.

🔰Types of Smart Contracts

Smart contracts can be categorized into three main types: legal contracts, decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), and application logic contracts (ALCs).

Let's delve into each type⤵️

☑️ Smart Legal Contracts: Smart legal contracts are traditional legal agreements implemented on a blockchain. They follow a conditional structure: "If this happens, then that happens" Due to their immutable nature, they offer enhanced transparency and security compared to conventional documents. These contracts execute automatically based on predefined criteria, such as making payments upon reaching a certain deadline. Failure to meet the conditions can lead to significant legal consequences.

Smart contracts do not include legal language or the terms of a contract between two parties. Instead, they are scripts composed of functions, module imports, and other programming elements that automate actions between the parties involved.

☑️ Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAOs): DAOs are community-driven entities managed by smart contracts. These organizations operate without a central authority, relying on blockchain-encoded rules for governance and decision-making. Members of a DAO have voting rights and collectively manage the organization's activities and resources. For instance, VitaDAO is a DAO focused on funding scientific research, where the smart contract regulates all operations.

☑️ Application Logic Contracts (ALCs): Application logic contracts contain code that interacts with other blockchain contracts and systems. They are typically used for integrating different technologies, such as IoT devices, with blockchain networks. Unlike other smart contracts, ALCs facilitate interactions between machines or between other contracts, rather than between human parties. These contracts automate processes and functions across various devices and platforms.

Smart contracts, therefore, extend beyond legal agreements to include autonomous organizational management and complex application interactions, showcasing their versatility and potential across multiple domains.

Pros & Cons✨ of Smart Contracts

Pros↗️

👍 Efficiency: Transactions are executed automatically, saving time and reducing errors.

👍 Transparency: All parties can view the contract terms, enhancing trust and accountability.

👍 Cost-Effective: Reduces the need for intermediaries, lowering transaction costs.

Cons↘️

👎 Immutability: Once deployed, smart contracts cannot be altered, making it difficult to correct errors.

👎 Security Risks: Vulnerabilities in the code can be exploited by malicious actors.

👎 Legal and Regulatory Uncertainty: The legal status of smart contracts is still evolving, posing potential regulatory challenges.

🟪 Role of Smart Contracts in Various Industries:

Uses of Smart Contracts

✔️ Finance: Automates loan agreements, insurance claims, and trade settlements, increasing efficiency and reducing fraud.

✔️ Healthcare: Manages patient records, automates billing, and ensures compliance with treatment protocols.

✔️ Supply Chain Management: Tracks goods, ensures quality control, and automates payments upon delivery, reducing delays and errors.

✔️ Real Estate: Simplifies property transactions, automates escrow services, and ensures secure transfer of ownership.

✔️ Legal: Facilitates contract execution, automates compliance checks, and streamlines dispute resolution processes.

Smart contracts are revolutionizing the way transactions are conducted across various industries. The language was created to address the need for a more expressive and developer-friendly language for writing smart contracts.

Over the years, Solidity has undergone significant improvements and has become the standard for smart contract development on Ethereum and other EVM-compatible blockchains.

Comparison⚖️ of Solidity:

Solidity shares similarities with several mainstream programming languages, which makes it easier for developers to learn:

☑️ JavaScript: Solidity’s syntax resembles JavaScript, with similar control structures and variable declarations.

☑️ Python: Like Python, Solidity is designed to be easy to read and write.

☑️ C++: Solidity borrows concepts like statically typed variables and inheritance from C++.

However, unlike these traditional languages, Solidity is specifically tailored for blockchain development, with built-in support for handling cryptocurrency transactions, accessing blockchain state, and interacting with smart contracts.

How Solidity Works🤷‍♂️

Solidity allows developers to write smart contracts that are compiled into bytecode, which the EVM can execute.

A smart contract in Solidity consists of multiple functions and state variables. Cryptography is the secret sauce that powers blockchain technology, ensuring security, privacy, and integrity in the digital world.

Let’s dive into the fascinating world of cryptography & it’s uses in blockchain technology ⤵️

What is Cryptography❓

Cryptography is the art and science of securing information by transforming it into an unreadable format. It ensures that only the intended recipient can decode and access the original information. This transformation is achieved through algorithms and keys that encrypt and decrypt data, providing confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity.

Cryptography is the practice of developing and using coded algorithms to protect and obscure transmitted information so that it may only be read by those with the permission and ability to decrypt it. Put differently, cryptography obscures communications so that unauthorized parties are unable to access them.

- IBM

Types of Cryptography🔐

Cryptography can be broadly classified into three types ⤵️:

🔑 Symmetric Cryptography: Also known as secret-key cryptography, this method uses the same key for both encryption and decryption. It is fast and efficient for processing large amounts of data but requires secure key distribution.

Symmetric Cryptography (Source: GFG)

🗝️ Asymmetric Cryptography: This method uses a pair of keys – a public key for encryption and a private key for decryption. Asymmetric cryptography enhances security by eliminating the need to share the private key.

Asymmetric Cryptography (Source: GFG)

🔐 Hash Functions: These are one-way functions that convert data into a fixed-size string of characters, typically a hash value. Hash functions are fundamental in ensuring data integrity and are widely used in blockchain technology.

The Power of Digital Signatures

Digital signatures are a critical component of asymmetric cryptography. They provide a way to verify the authenticity and integrity of digital messages or documents.

A digital signature is created using the sender's private key and can be verified by anyone with the corresponding public key. This ensures that the message has not been altered and confirms the identity of the sender.

✅ Cryptographic Hash Functions

Cryptographic hash functions are mathematical algorithms that transform any input into a fixed-length, unique output, known as a hash. These functions are fundamental to blockchain technology, ensuring data integrity and security.

Features of Cryptographic Hash Functions:

🟣 Mathematical Algorithm: Hash functions use complex mathematical formulas to convert input data into a unique hash. This process is designed to be efficient and fast.

🟣 Deterministic: A deterministic function means that the same input will always produce the same hash output. This property ensures consistency and reliability in data verification.

🟣 One-Way Function: Hash functions are designed to be one-way, meaning it is practically impossible to reverse the process and retrieve the original input from the hash. This enhances security, making it difficult for malicious actors to tamper with the data.

🟣 Collision Resistant: Collision resistance ensures that it is highly improbable for two different inputs to produce the same hash output. This property is crucial for maintaining data integrity, as it prevents duplicate hashes from different data sets.

🟣 Avalanche Effect: A small change in the input data will result in a significantly different hash output. This property, known as the avalanche effect, ensures that even minor alterations in the input lead to noticeable changes in the hash, enhancing the security and reliability of the function.

Popular Cryptographic Hash Functions:

🟥 SHA-256: Widely used in blockchain technology, especially in Bitcoin, SHA-256 produces a 256-bit hash value. Its robustness and security make it a popular choice for various applications.

🟥 SHA-3: The latest member of the Secure Hash Algorithm family, SHA-3, offers a different construction method compared to its predecessors, providing an additional layer of security.

Example of Cryptographic Hash Functions in Use:

Let’s illustrate the features of cryptographic hash functions with an example. Suppose we have the input data "Blockchain Technology".

Deterministic: Hashing "Blockchain Technology" using SHA-256 will always produce the same hash value.

One-Way Function: Given the hash value, it’s practically impossible to deduce that the input was "Blockchain Technology".

Collision Resistant: Another input, say "Blockchain Tech", will produce a different hash value, minimizing the chance of collision.

Avalanche Effect: Changing the input from "Blockchain Technology" to "Blockchain Tech" results in a completely different hash value.

Cryptography is the backbone of blockchain technology, providing the security and trust necessary for decentralized systems to thrive. Understanding the types of cryptography, the role of digital signatures, and the importance of cryptographic hash functions helps demystify this complex yet fascinating field.

As blockchain technology evolves, so will the cryptographic methods that protect our digital world.

⚠️ Note: I have created this blog from my understanding and learning at #BRBBootcamp by Push Builders.
