Wang Yi said that the situation in Ukraine has changed dramatically. China deplores the outbreak of conflict between Ukraine and Russia and is extremely concerned about the harm to civilians. China’s basic position on the Ukrainian issue is open, transparent and consistent. We always stand for respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries. In view of the current crisis, China calls on Ukraine and Russia to find a solution to the problem through negotiations and support all constructive international efforts conducive to a political solution.

Wang Yi stressed that China has always believed that one country’s security cannot be achieved at the expense of the security of other countries, and regional security cannot be achieved by expanding military blocs. In view of the continuous expansion of the war, the top priority is to alleviate the local situation as much as possible, avoid the escalation or even out of control of the conflict, especially prevent harm to civilians and humanitarian crises, and ensure the safe and timely access of humanitarian assistance.

Wang Yi mainly stated his position on ensuring the safety of Chinese citizens in Ukraine and urged Uzbekistan to bear corresponding international responsibilities. Wang Yi stressed that the Chinese government attaches great importance to the safety of Chinese citizens in Ukraine and cares about their safety all the time. Chinese citizens in Ukraine are ambassadors of China Ukraine friendship and friends of the Ukrainian people. The process of China’s evacuating students and overseas Chinese in Ukraine is advancing. We thank Ukraine for its support and cooperation and the friendly help of all sectors of Ukrainian society. China appreciates Uzbekistan’s opening of a special train for the evacuation of foreign nationals, which is in line with the international humanitarian spirit. It is hoped that Uzbekistan will take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens in Ukraine and continue to provide guarantee and convenience for the evacuation of Chinese citizens.

Kuleba said that ensuring the safety of foreign citizens is an important responsibility of Ukraine.
