Every year, about a quarter of the planet celebrates a special day called the Spring Festival. You might know this day better as the Chinese New Year. However, the significance of this celebration goes beyond the arrival of a new year.

Instead, it is also believed that each year has its own form of vibrational energy that can affect one's luck for better or worse. In 2022, we will be entering the Water Tiger year, which affects you more than you may realise.

But not to worry, here are some valuable insights that’ll help you anticipate the challenges and opportunities coming your way this year and how you can use them to your advantage!

12 animals forecast:

Rat

Rat Chinese horoscope. (PHOTO: Getty Images)

They say tough times build character; 2022 will be the year to be put to the test. For those born with this animal sign, it is your year to prove your worth in terms of independence, self-assurance and self-reliance. So rise up to the occasion and take what’s given to you with stride.

While awareness of what’s coming is one factor to take note of, another key to turning this year around for the better would be to seek internal strength. Get in touch with your spiritual side so you’ll have the peace of mind and clarity to overcome the challenges ahead. Learn to see things as they are.

Health-wise, it goes without saying that the stress and fatigue would accumulate over a year. Therefore, the spiritual aspect can also help abate this issue. Make a conscious effort to give yourself a break from time to time. Always remember to be kind to yourself.

Ox

Ox zodiac. (Photo: iStock/Getty Images)

If your animal sign is the Ox, you should be focusing on relationships this year. As they say, no man is an island. As human beings, we rely on one another for our various needs and wants. So 2022 is a great year for you to make new connections and strengthen pre-existing ones.

Where your career is concerned, wealth opportunities await you, and it is reachable through networking. Remember, people like happy people. So rather than waiting for external circumstances to come and make you happy, find reasons to be happy internally, and everything will fall into place.

However, one thing to note is the quality of people you meet. Being a networking year for you, it’s inevitable that you might meet one or two bad apples. But don’t let their negativity get to you or affect your mental health when that happens. There are plenty of other people deserving of your time and attention.

Tiger

Tiger zodiac. (Photo: iStock/Getty Images)

As the Grand Duke of the year, all eyes will be on you. You’ll want to be prepared for your moment in the spotlight to ensure you’ll be the breakout star of the year. That means steering clear of distractions and focusing on improving your knowledge and skills. Your efforts will be noticed, especially at work.

It’ll take a while for the growth in your career to show itself as returns in your personal wealth. So don’t count your chickens before they hatch and spend money that hasn’t made its way to your wallet. Instead, create a sustainable budget for the year and set aside some cash savings for a rainy day.

You’ll want to do some planning when it comes to your relationships as well. With all these new demands on your time and attention, your relationships may inadvertently end up suffering as they’re pushed to the back seat. To ensure a balanced life, schedule time in your day to spend time with your loved ones. After all, your star will shine brighter with a good supporting cast.

Rabbit

Rabbit zodiac. (Photo: iStock/Getty Images)

Rabbits can rejoice after a challenging 2021 as 2022 is the year you’ll receive plenty of support for every move you make. Help will flow in from every corner as long as you’re clear about your goals and are spotted actively working towards them.

This makes it the perfect year to start a business, as the partnerships you form and the people you hire are likely to be particularly capable and helpful this year. It’s your opportunity to build a strong foundation that will carry your business through both easy and tough years.

If you’re an employee, things are looking up as well. Put in a good performance, and you’ll be rewarded with a promotion - especially if your boss is male. Your prowess at work may even attract a partner - an office romance is in the cards if you’re up for it. Alternatively, the people around you will also be playing matchmaker. So ensure you’re up for all the excitement this year has to offer by keeping physically and mentally fit- that’s where your main challenges lie this year.

Dragon

Dragon zodiac. (Photo: iStock/Getty Images)

This year promises to be one of self-reflection for the Dragon. The challenges you meet this year will open the door to deep realisations about yourself and your direction in life. So don’t dismiss these big questions; they’ll lead the way to discover your true self and develop a truly unshakeable spirit.

You’ll have the capacity for all this deep thinking because things will proceed smoothly when it comes to your finances and career. As long as you’ve done your homework, you can expect steady growth in your investments and work.

However, your relationships will take a step back this year. This especially applies if you’re single - chances are slim if you’re seeking a new partner. Those already married will enjoy a stable marriage, but don’t expect excitement as it’s likely that your partners can’t give you their full attention this year. That’s alright - it will leave you with more time for the self-reflection that will lead to your major personal breakthrough.

Snake

Snake zodiac. (Photo: iStock/Getty Images)

2022 is looking to be an inspirational year for those with the Snake animal sign. When you’re inspired, it’s not difficult to find the motivation to take action that can create positive impacts in your life. When matched with the right actions and mindset, this could be the year where you’ll gain significant wealth.

In terms of your career, you will definitely see some opportunities to show your worth. However, if you decide to take this head-on, it’s your chance to showcase your talents. This, in turn, will open the doors to more opportunities and the likelihood for you to meet mentors who can take you a step further.

Love might not be something to prioritise this year, but it’s definitely worth keeping an eye on. In your newfound independence, you might potentially neglect those close to you. As such, try to make it a habit to stay in touch with them from time to time and spare a thought whenever you can.

Horse

Horse zodiac. (Photo: iStock/Getty Images)

Your wealth luck looks good in 2022. If you’re planning to expand your business, the outcome is favourable, and there may be an unexpected windfall. If you’re an employee, you will find yourself flourishing in your field this year.

You’ll find yourself more motivated and energised to accomplish your goals, and your efforts and hard work finally pay off. In addition, you’ll be handsomely rewarded.

Your love luck is on the average side as you’ll be focusing more on work than anything else. Therefore, it’s best to strike a work-life balance and spend any available time with your partner while cherishing the moment.

Health-wise, your physical health is also good, but the same cannot be said for your emotional and spiritual wellbeing. But don’t worry, with the proper care and lifestyle adjustments, you can overcome these problems.

Goat

Goat zodiac. (Photo: iStock/Getty Images)

Your wealth would double this year for those born with the Goat animal sign. However, windfalls don’t just happen with you doing nothing about it. For example, if you’re in sales, you’ll need to work for your money – as in-network, expand your contacts to gain support from your loyal clients or customers. Just stay clear of any unnecessary spending and continue to manage your finances wisely.

In terms of career, your efforts will bear fruit in 2022, and you could gain the chance for a promotion and raise. In addition, there’ll be no shortages of helpful people around you who are willing to get you out of trouble if need be. It’s not a suitable year to switch jobs, though, if you’re planning to do so.

For those of you in a relationship and wanting to tie the knot, this will be an excellent year to do it. Your general health outlook is positive, and as for those that have been feeling under the weather on and off, you may find yourself recovering completely.

Monkey

Monkey zodiac. (Photo: iStock/Getty Images)

This year will be challenging where wealth is concerned. There’ll be monetary losses or excessive spending. However, if you’re a business owner, start an international online business or engage in foreign investments. Now is a great time for expansion, growth or starting a new business overseas.

And suppose you’re aspiring to become a Key Opinion Leader (KOL) or simply want to garner more viewers and engagement to your social media platforms. In that case, 2022 will be a good year to jumpstart your online career as you’ll have the ability to do so, and your popularity could be off the charts.

Your health may not be at its best. Be careful when driving as there might be accidents. Relationship-wise, it may be challenging for you this year as you’ll be dealing with some conflicts and maybe an emotional betrayal.

Rooster

Rooster zodiac. (Photo: iStock/Getty Images)

In 2022, you’ll be sought after as you’ll gain the knack for problem-solving and turning unexpected situations favourable for you and others. But, on the other hand, there’ll be those around you who’ll thoroughly guide you and help you see the opportunities that are coming your way.

If you’re ready to make a career shift, don’t be afraid to take that leap of faith. Just make sure before you leave, do the proper handover to avoid official or personal disputes with your ex-colleagues.

Your wealth luck looks promising, especially for those in sales, real estate or law. There’ll be an increase in opportunities offered to you, and your network of clients will grow. However, you may face some unexpected illness this year. So, be wary of your diet.

For those who are single, pay close attention to those around you in the office this year as you might find ‘the one. And if you’re married, patience and honest communication are critical this year.

Dog

Dog zodiac. (Photo: iStock/Getty Images)

This year you’ll get creative with everything you do, and it will be extra beneficial for those in the creative field. There’ll also be career advancement and pursuit towards your professional interest. So, remember to flex those creative muscles, and you’ll start bringing in the money in 2022.

Watch your spending and only buy the things you need. For business owners or entrepreneurs, be careful with your investments as there may be monetary losses. Also, be wary of your health as you tend to get hurt easily. And if you’re single, this year you’ll take your time to find love.

Pig

Pig zodiac. (Photo: iStock/Getty Images)

In 2022, there’ll be opportunities to boost not only your network but also connect and nurture new relationships and gain new wisdom from helpful people. There’ll also be a chance for promotion and salary increment.

On the other hand, to reduce excessive money outflow for you this year, it’s recommended that you learn about financial management. 2022 is also a year of moderation where your health is concerned. Don’t overindulge, keep a healthy diet and stay away from snacking, drinking or smoking too much.

Relationship-wise, the Peach Blossom Luck is on your side, and this will be a great year for you to meet someone you like. Also, it’s a year to make many happy memories with loved ones, friends and colleagues.

(The Thriver’s Guide 2022 has been written in such a way so that any beginner with no prior knowledge of Chinese Metaphysics could learn and immediately put to use the information within to embark on a journey of self-discovery and ultimately be able to deploy the unique talents and abilities to overcome any challenges that life serves.)

Watch more Lifestyle videos here:

3 Chinese New Year Reunion Ideas for 2022

Chinese New Year (or Lunar New Year for some others) is a time to get together and celebrate. I have all my vaccines. I don’t have this one because I had COVID, and I have natural antibodies,” Madison said. “That’s the whole reason to get a vaccine: is to develop the antibodies, which I have.”

The CDC addressed the question of protection from past infection vs. vaccination in a statement to the press Wednesday.

It was responding to research that suggested people who were previously infected had the greatest protection against COVID-19 when the delta variant of the coronavirus was spreading.

The CDC said that study was limited in important ways. It was conducted before the more contagious omicron variant emerged, so the findings cannot be applied to the current wave of the pandemic. And the study ended before widespread use of vaccine boosters, so it does not reflect the added benefit of additional doses on immunity from vaccination.

The agency pointed instead to recent research that showed “with increasing time since prior infection, vaccination provides greater protection against COVID-19 compared to prior infection alone,” according to the CDC.

It noted that the coronavirus is constantly changing, and that can change the level of immunity that vaccination or prior infection can give someone.

Today, experts believe “vaccination remains the safest strategy for protecting against COVID-19,” the CDC stated.

Gateway Regional Medical Center’s chief medical officer, Dr. Michael Adams, also acknowledged experts continue studying COVID-19. Adams said the latest advice for the best protection includes taking a booster shot and that people who have been infected before should still get vaccinated.

“As the understanding of immunity to COVID-19 evolves, we still feel the best protection is a vaccine with a booster,” Adams wrote in a statement to the BND. “Individuals who have contracted COVID-19 will have some immunity moving forward, however it is still recommended to get vaccinated per the CDC guidelines.”

Dr. Vinay Bhooma, the chief medical officer at St. Joseph’s Hospital, said Friday that the majority of patients in HSHS hospitals with COVID-19 are unvaccinated or did not receive their booster when they were eligible.

“HSHS has been and will continue advocating the COVID-19 vaccine to the general public and our colleagues,” Bhooma stated.

Madison County Health Department Director Toni Corona deferred comment to the Madison County Board office when asked about the county’s statement on vaccination in the resolution.

County Board Chairman Kurt Prenzler did not immediately respond to a request for comment Friday afternoon.

The board was not in complete agreement on the resolution. The vote was 20-7.

Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Haine explained during Wednesday’s meeting that the purpose of the resolution was to signal that the county would not comply with any future COVID-19 vaccination mandates from the state or federal government that would apply to county employees.

Dick Vitale is done for the season.

Vitale, who was diagnosed with lymphoma and vocal cord dysplasia last year, announced on Monday he needs to continue to rest his voice and will not call any more college basketball games this season on ESPN.

Vitale said he has reduced the inflammation in his vocal cords by 60 percent, though he said he will still need surgery in the near future.

“My throat’s condition is clearly moving in the right direction, and [my doctor] is very optimistic that this can be successfully treated to have me strong for the 2022-23 season on ESPN,” Vitale wrote in a post on Monday.

Though the surgery is a setback, Vitale said the issue is completely separate from his cancer treatments.

“I’m happy to report that according to my doctors, my ongoing chemo for Lymphoma continues to progress positively as well,” he wrote. “I’ve seen what cancer can do. I feel so lucky.”

The longtime ESPN college basketball announcer revealed in October he had lymphoma, which marked his second cancer diagnosis in three months. The 82-year-old started treatment and chemotherapy and missed the start of the season, but he did make a tearful, emotional return for a game between then-No. 1 Gonzaga and No. 2 UCLA in November.

Vitale then said late last month he had been diagnosed with pre-cancerous dysplasia on his vocal cords, and he needed to rest.

Vitale has been with ESPN almost since the network was founded, and he called the very first college basketball season the network aired. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008.

“You know I am an eternal optimist who acts like he’s a teenager,” Vitale wrote on Monday. “Yet there is no doubt these past five months have been emotionally and physically frustrating. I am so appreciative of the love and care demonstrated by the incredible members of the medical community. And I will be forever grateful for the calls, texts, and social media expressions of encouragement from friends, colleagues, fans, media and members of my ESPN family. I love people, and I’m honored to receive such overwhelming support.

“I will continue to provide updates as I go along, and I am firm in my belief that I will win this battle and be back doing what I love — calling games at courtside next season. In the meantime, I will enjoy all the great games from my living room and savor the love of my marvelous family. Thank you all.”

It is simple enough to say that since books have classes——fiction，biography，poetry——weshould separate them and take from each what it is right that each should give us. Yet fewpeople ask from books what books can give us. Most commonly we come to books with blurredand divided minds，asking of fiction that it shall be true，of poetry that it shall be false，ofbiography that it shall be flattering，of history that it shall enforce our own prejudices. If wecould banish all such preconceptions when we read，that would be an admirable beginning. Donot dictate to your author;Try to become him. Be his fellow-worker and accomplice. If youhang back，and reserve and criticize at first，you are preventing yourself from getting thefullest possible value from what you read. But if you open your mind as widely as possible，thesigns and hints of almost imperceptible fineness，from the twist and turn of the firstsentences，will bring you into the presence of a human being unlike any other. Steep yourselfin this，acquaint yourself with this，and soon you will find that your author is giving you，orattempting to give you，something far more definite. The thirty-two chapters of a novel—if weconsider how to read a novel first——are an attempt to make something as formed andcontrolled as a building：but words are more impalpable than bricks;Reading is a longer andmore complicated process than seeing. Perhaps the quickest way to understand the elementsof what a novelist is doing is not to read，but to write; To make your own experiment with thedangers and difficulties of words. Recall，then，some event that has left a distinct impressionon you—how at the corner of the street，perhaps，you passed two people talking. A treeshook;an electric light danced;the tone of the talk was comic，but also tragic;a wholevision;an entire conception，seemed contained in that moment.

But when you attempt to reconstruct it in words，you will find that it breaks into a thousandconflicting impressions. Some must be subdued;others emphasized;in the process you willlose，probably，all grasp upon the emotion itself. Then turn from your blurred and litteredpages to the opening pages of some great novelist—Defoe，Jane Austen，or Hardy. Now youwill be better able to appreciate their mastery. It is not merely that we are in the presence ofa different person—Defoe，Jane Austen，or Thomas Hardy—but that we are living in a differentworld. Here，in Robinson Crusoe，we are trudging a plain high road;one thing happens afteranother;the fact and the order of the fact is enough. But if the open air and adventure meaneverything to Defoe they mean nothing to Jane Austen. Hers is the drawing-room，and peopletalking，and by the many mirrors of their talk revealing their characters. And if，when we haveaccustomed ourselves to the drawing-room and its reflections，we turn to Hardy，we are oncemore spun around. The other side of the mind is now exposed—the dark side that comesuppermost in solitude，not the light side that shows in company. Our relations are nottowards people，but towards Nature and destiny. Yet different as these worlds are，each isconsistent with itself. The maker of each is careful to observe the laws of his ownperspective，and however great a strain they may put upon us they will never confuseus，as lesser writers so frequently do，by introducing two different kinds of reality into thesame book. Thus to go from one great novelist to another—from Jane Austen to Hardy，fromPeacock to Trollope，from Scott to Meredith —is to be wrenched and uprooted;to be thrownthis way and then that. To read a novel is a difficult and complex art. You must be capable notonly of great finesse of perception，but of great boldness of imagination if you are going tomake use of all that the novelist—the great artist—gives you.

I personally advocate campus dating.

Opponents may argue that university students should place study as their priority as dating in all likelihood may distract them from this objective. However, learning is not all about memorizing textbooks and passing exams. True love holds the key to happiness in life and students are entitled to experience it. Admittedly, a relationship may serve as a distraction in some cases? Yet, it can also yield beneficial results. Couples may encourage each other to achieve academic excellence and support each other in times of crisis. Furthermore, it is tantamount to cruelty to hinder the pursuit of true love. The decision as to whether or not to start a relationship should be an entirely personal choice free from interference. In the final analysis, I believe that students can learn so much from a relationship, such as tolerance, care and compromise. All of these will serve well foll their future success both in career and in life.

In conclusion, campus love promotes happiness, and can be beneficial towards academic study and therefore should be a matter of personal choice.

For the first two weeks, we may sit in as many classes as we like before we decide on which courses to choose. We jumped for joy. The first week I attended classes for four evenings on end and found out that most of the teachers took it serioualy. They were busy in "winning votes" for fear, that later on no one would attend their lectures.

For example, the teacher of Modern Literature of Taiwan said, "Actually the first two hours of my lecture were only a prelude. The real contents have not been involved. In the furore, we shall discuss such famous writers as Qiong Yao, Xi Murong, etc, and such famous aetresses as Lin Fengjiao, Lin Qingxia etc. We have lots of vedio-taped films to watch. These are confined only to those who co-major in this court." See, after all, the last sentence is the core of everything he said.

The teacher of Appreciation and Critics of Modern Opera said, "We have a variety of contents and the teaching method is changable. For instance, l may choose one act from a play and let you perform it in class. If you do a good job, you can put on the play at the school theater festival. Also, we shall arrange for you to watch current plays. The school is in charge of the traffic and tickets, Of course, only those who co-major this course are eligible." You see, the most important thing comes at last through twists and turns.
