We’re excited to share case studies from two of our more recent clients Blockwise and chainEDGE. In some ways, these two companies could not be more different. One is an accounting firm, and the other is a data analytics platform for crypto traders; however, they both share the challenge of managing on-chain payments and automating their payment workflows. 

Blockwise uses Loop for invoicing with our QuickBooks integration. They came to Loop because they were tired of spending hours tracking down transaction hashes for on-chain payments and reconciling them in QuickBooks. With Loop, they now get these hours back with Loop auto-matching transaction hashes with invoices in QuickBooks.

chainEGDE uses Loop along with our Stripe integration to manage their flat-rate subscription tiers. They needed a self-serve sign-up process that could scale enabling customer payments via crypto every few minutes. With Loop’s autopay functionality and automated email reminders, they are already seeing reduced churn and increased customer sign-ups with their number of sign-ups via Loop up 2x over their first three months. chainEDGE no longer needs to manage follow-up for one-off payments to their wallet every month. Their customers simply give a wallet authorization once, and then Loop handles the rest to automate their monthly subscription payments.

These clients highlight the range of functionality within the Loop platform and our ability to handle a broad range of use cases. In addition to revenue management and receivables, Loop also supports companies and DAOs on the payables side (see ENS & Botto), enabling organizations to schedule transactions like expenses and recurring contractor payments.

While the Bank of America charge card had some early success in 1958, the missing piece that would allow it to scale was the communication layer (i.e., Visa). Once banks, merchants, and customers were all using the same communication layer that identified the context around the payments being made, card networks could scale and hit escape velocity.

As we head into the long weekend (at least here in the US & Canada), I wanted to share some reading material. Our Co-Founder and CEO Eleni Steinman authored a recent piece about the new on-chain payments stack. Eleni has one of the best vantage points in web3 to understand how the world of on-chain payments is evolving and what it takes for more and more businesses to adopt on-chain payments.

We’re seeing a number of different trends (both technological and societal) that have driven us to an inflection point in payments. On-chain payments are faster, cheaper, and interoperable; however, to realize these values and gain the right to process the payment, it is critical to solve the workflows before and after the actual payment transaction. This will enable on-chain payments to replace traditional rails.

From this starting point, Eleni dives into practical examples of how different players are incorporating on-chain payments into their processes and what the full payment stack looks like. It’s definitely worth a read!

Last week, I had the chance to meet with a group of other New York startups and talk startup sales. It left me with a number of useful take-aways. As the group talked, we discovered that we’re all in the habit of trying to close a deal by listing all the great features and values our products provide. The closing pitch goes something like, “Act now because you’re missing all this greatness!”

One member of the group shared a great insight…instead of trying to explain what are the benefits of using your product, flip that on its head. What is the cost of not using your product? I think that’s a powerful reframing. It moves the potential client from “we’re okay right now and can go a little longer without the incremental value of your product” to "oh sh*t, we are losing money by not taking action!”

There’s certainly something for us to learn at Loop with this reframing. We do have great features that provide you value, but perhaps it’s more about what you’re losing by not taking control of your crypto payments today. The lost sales from customers who needed to pay in crypto but did not see the pay with crypto option on your site, the lost money from having customers send funds to the wrong chain or wallet, the lost hours from chasing transaction hashes and dealing with data chaos, the lost hair and sleep from worrying about your payments funnel.

We’re excited to announce that ETHGlobal has now added Loop to support payments for invoices in crypto. ETHGlobal has been around since 2017 and runs world-class events for the Ethereum ecosystem. Through their hackathons, showcases, and educational events, they have helped onboard 70k+ developers to web3 and distributed over $10M in prizes to thousands of innovative projects.

A critical Loop feature for ETHGlobal was our integration with Xero. With a global set of partners, like the Ethereum Foundation, the Uniswap Foundation, and ENS, they rely on crypto payments and need to have those payments matched with invoice records in Xero. Loop enables ETHGlobal to automate this process, saving them hours reconciling transaction hashes with invoices. In addition, Loop’s webhook notifications and dashboard mean they have full visibility into when they are paid and which partner is making the payment.

We’re home in New York after a busy week at ETHCC in Brussels. Despite a few too many Belgian chocolates and beers, we’re back at it and extremely energized after having the opportunity to meet many of our clients IRL for the first time. 

As I reflect back, 3 client conversations stand out:

• Kaito - It seemed like Kaito was everywhere at ETHCC sponsoring multiple events and leading the conversation around the power of AI-driven search in web3. They’ve built an amazing product that has taken search to the next level indexing a variety of data sources critical to web3. They’re a great example of a web3 native SaaS business that is taking off by providing unique value to their customers.

• Earn Alliance - We met with Earn Alliance’s CEO & Founder Coop who is scaling a global gaming platform. Crypto payments are essential for serving their global customer base, and he sees tremendous potential in the months ahead as more and more web3 games are deployed. We’re just seeing the tip of the iceberg when it comes to web3 games.

• ETHGlobal - The finance team at ETHGlobal is using Loop to automate their invoice reconciliation process, making it easier for them to manage incoming crypto payments from sponsors around the world. This conversation again drove home just how much value crypto can add by being a global and interoperable payment rail that meets the needs of businesses with customers and employees scattered across the globe.

You spoke, we listened 😀. A consistent piece of feedback we received from companies using Loop is that they wanted an easy way to generate a crypto payment link with custom parameters. For example, you might want to pass a unique reference ID into the checkout to track which of your customers was making a payment. In the past, this required manually adding data parameters to the Loop checkout link or writing a bit of code to do this programmatically.

With our latest production release last week, we’ve made this process significantly easier. From the home page of your Company Dashboard, you can now simply click the “Create a checkout link” button, and our UI will walk you through customizing a link with a range of parameters. In just a few clicks, you’re done. Here are some of the parameters you can configure:

• Select one or multiple items to be shown in the cart

• Pass in the Stripe/Chargebee subscriptionID, converting a fiat subscription to a crypto one 

• Show or hide the cart

• Pre-populate customer email address

• Pass a unique reference ID to track customers in your system

• Confirm the receiving wallet address 

• Easily edit the tokens / networks you accept payment on

Our goal at Loop is to make crypto payments simple. This UI improvement does just that, and we’re excited to have companies start using the new link builder in the coming weeks.
