回望历史，那些激发群体激情的事件——革命、起义、反抗、祭祀与祈祷——之所以震撼人心，并不只因其规模或意志，而在于其中蕴含的某种“无主之序”。在这种看似失控的集体状态里，我们反而获得一种深层的安慰，仿佛人类天性中埋藏着对仪式的向往：混乱并非秩序的崩解，而是更原初的秩序在显形。

我们在集体中确认自身仍处于某种框架之内，却又在部落的构建里不断追寻个体的差异与独特性。于是，人类的存在在两极之间震荡——既渴望溶入共同体的洪流，又执着于在同质化中保留自我的不可替代性。

我时常想古代祭祀与电音舞蹈之间的相似之处，后者让我有种莫名的集体归属感。Chatgpt的分析说：祭祀是古人的集体恍惚，电音聚会是现代人的世俗化祭祀。两者都让人暂时退出日常结构，融合进群体节奏，在混乱中获得意义和安慰。

无论是古代祭祀中的鼓、焰、吟唱，还是电音聚会里的低频鼓点、节奏循环，本质上都在通过重复节奏诱发群体性的恍惚状态。

• 群体同步 → 我意识的削弱 → “我们”意识的强化

这种“自我消解”带来的快感，是两者最核心的共同结构。

米尔恰·伊利亚德（Mircea Eliade）在《神圣与世俗》中提出一个重要概念：仪式会打开一条“裂缝”，让人类暂时进入神圣的时间与空间。

世俗时间（profane time）是功利化和被规则约束的，而神圣时间（sacred time）是不属于线性的过去–现在–未来，更接近于更本源的“永恒现在”，仪式会切开这两者之间的鸿沟，让我们更好进入心流和神圣时间。米尔恰认为人在仪式中不是逃避现实，而是从世俗现实返回到“更真实的现实”。

人类天生渴望周期性地远离日常世界，因为日常世界不足以支持我们的精神结构。我们寻找生命的意义感是物质条件满足之后，不再为世俗时间的琐碎而担忧时最常想起的话题。但是这种思考时碎片化的，我们一直在两种时间中反复跳跃，如果能长时间沉浸在神圣时间，也许我们对各种意义的思考会更深刻，或者完全在茫茫的宇宙智慧中迷失不前。

最近我因为颈椎间盘突出压迫神经经常失眠，在每个失眠间隙心率升高以及平缓下来的时间段，我进入了与现实世界脱节的心流状态，感觉时间被无限拉长，视觉的细微模糊也让我开始让我从不同角度思考我在目前所处世界最重要的使命和归属感。

这种状态几乎是一种“被迫的哲学沉思”。我没有主动走进思考，而是因为身体的失控和失眠而被推入了一个独特的意识地带。在这个新开发的地带，我的日常身份变得遥远，与世界的互动也变得不被动，自我与世界的界线被轻微溶解，我开始有与高我链接的冲动，因为目前的状态是特别陌生和未知的，我不知道我会被思想的深渊拽到什么地方。我开始渐渐明白宗教和追求神的意愿是从何而来。

人的欲望与现实之间有永远无法完全弥合的裂缝，正是我们不断追问意义、寻求终极因果（causality）的源头。也许正是在这种精神与肉体分离的缝隙中，人类第一次感受到某种更高的召唤——因为当现实的逻辑失效，我们才会开始追索更高层的逻辑。

人的一生或许就是在不断试图把这道鸿沟说清楚。我只是刚刚开始听见它的回声。

治愈我们的方式也许不是去寻找神，而是去寻找自己，找到自己的精神归宿和可以同频的社群。希望我们都可以建立一个属于自己的部落，让意义不必独自承担，让现实有落脚之处。

The train has a universe in it. The time we spent on it could extend into eternity; it is a test field of our consciousness, and how we spend our limited time on the train reflects how we spend our whole lifetime.

The future of humanity will never change unless everyone stops what they’re doing on the train bound for a pre-planned destiny; everyone only pretends to be busy with the same destination in their mind, to forget that the truth is everyone is heading over to nowhere, into a void land called death.

During the gap between birth and death, the struggle of human life and the process of dying is much slower if you think you have all the time on this train. Often, you won’t realize you're on a slow train to nowhere; it becomes a forgettable fact in everyday life, and somehow humans created routine and all kinds of entertainment as a way of self-deception from the truth: we are going into nothingness. The nothingness is the pure unknown, the oblivion, and the vanished existence.

But on the train of our life, we grow up in this very structured system, with all rules and laws, we feel free to break the window to breathe the air during the journey; however, it won’t change the fact that we are still on the fast-moving train with people who hold hopes or disappointments in this single way journey. No one can explain where we are going, but they know the only way to know it is to be on this train. During the long ride, they start to create dreams, making stories and passing on the fairy tales, to make the people who stay on the train feel there is something to look out for, between the day-to-day sunrise and sunset.

What is the point of all this? Everyone has their own answer, and no one has the answer. It’s just a blink of an eye, then it will be another ongoing chapter or ultimate ending.

I would think there are millions of pieces of me; they lived in every moment that we shared, continued our conversation at that point, and kept gathering around for a good old story and singing with joy, along with the nostalgic music.

I know having options is not an answer to my worries; having options only adds more problems to the insoluble puzzle. I lost many times in options, and kept living miserably in the chosen option to imagine the possibilities I have in another option, which made me unsatisfied and unsettled. I tried to make a conciliation with myself, as I had inner battles, and it became a never-ending journey to find peace within me.

I am the vessel. The universe pours into me. I hold, I overflow, I transform. Everything happens for a reason; our subconscious is the simulator itself.

We choose the things in our lives, including accidents, pains, tortures, and the ultimate ideological battle to fight for, before we subscribe to this train ride.

In another sense, I’m not grounded enough to feel the real pain of a human being, but do human beings evolve more if they could feel every emotion and feeling of others? Sympathy has a mysterious mask; it blinds humanity while facing an ethical dilemma. It is useful in peacetime but harmful during a cruel war. The history proves that humans become more productive and developed if we operate by following a robotic program.

Sometimes I have the thought: what if this world is the test field of wrong code, and we are just a coincidence? Every event looks like a logical pattern, as it is randomly distributed probabilities. Do we happen to live inside the whole code collision?

Luckily, whoever created this mega universe and set the rules for the game can silence us, destroy our bodies, but they cannot touch where the consciousness flows into.

因为美有时候比信仰还来的真实，信仰模糊不清摇摇欲坠的时候，我们可以看到让自己感动的美，怀旧的美，这种美在踌躇不前的步伐里蔓延开来，提醒我们脉搏还在按拍跳动，时间还在稳步向前。

同频共振会产生怎样的物理反应？我们在共振的意识流里面产生新的宇宙，世界上纷杂的信号让我们忘记初衷，忘记最重要的使命，让我们对眼前的具体事物充满怨恨，都只是它们阻断我们追求美的把戏。

这个夏天看了三部关于梦和理想的电影：妙想天开 （1985）/第二生命 （1966）/颐和园 （2006），人类最好的结局是抱着梦想入睡而浑然不知醒来后的世界，我们用美编制梦的网，不用担心恶随时登门拜访扰了兴致。

出走的灵魂都在找一个可以随时回去的家。为了不让我们在人群中找到对方，他们用尽了无数的力气，设置NPC混淆视听，让我们对同类失望，离群索居，他们可以切断我们互相连接的纽带，但是还有无数的方式让我们建立连接。任何阻止你自己爱自己与爱世界的物质与意识形态都不是通往自由路上应该有的障碍。

现在不响的，不代表未来不响。有很多事情你在当下无知无觉，理所当然，但是时间沉淀之后的某个时刻，被突如其利的意识砸中，但是这并不是你的异想天开，是你潜意识在你连接好的通道里不断输送信息，在你自我链接之后管道疏通了，你才接收到了万千信息中的一个。

人在追求一些自身意义上的永恒，千古留名，也是希望着自己可以留下一些美好的事物，让后人回味起来可以坚持与黑暗战斗下去。

人的每个阶段好像是软件的archive，过一段时间需要整理当下一个叙事的语气，一个占据上风的心情，一个有主色调的背景，一首可以唱的诗来做配乐。今天突然想整理我10-15岁写的新浪博客，才赫然发现博客已经很久没人写了，重新登录也显示不可见，突然有种被迫跟过去隔离，然后看着它被强行抹去的无力感。这种无力感成了脑子里一团雾气，还包裹着隐隐的熟悉的味道，但是当我努力回想这个味道的时候，它就同回忆一同散了。

微博还是被我的执念感找回来了，看着十几年前的文字，想到一些采访里大家都爱问，如果回到过去，你会对自己说什么。过去的我充满了战斗感，虽然没有具体的信念和信仰，但是随时会为了自己的原则和领地而全副武装：“一觉醒来，发现这世界繁华喧闹，及有些人是死是活真的与我无关，一切都会在你梦的罅隙飞速流逝，这真实世界在带你涌向死亡。所以，相信该相信的，放弃留不住的。“ 我甚至怀疑那时的我在经历怎样的世界，以至于文字都热血喷张，或者那时我自己在浴血奋战的前方看到过什么样的希望。

英语里的过去式都是在动词后加ed, 中文有“过”，可以安排到任何地方，可以放在动词后面表示经历的变化，放在形容词后表示状态的变化，但是这种经历和状态不能延续到现在，就像我之前的文字不能被留到最后一样，我的过去和现在的状态被迫地隔离开了。

但是过去和未来是需要交流的，不然未来无法延续，过去也无法圆满。我在努力回想在这中间的时间里，我经历了怎样的心路历程。我想现在我还是在准备战斗的状态，只是中间有过的值得为之战斗的东西和念想都换了好几波，好似戏台搭好了，我就全副武装去唱去表达，然后从中获得我的生命力。念想不止，就有不“过”的精力，每次都秉着折腾劲儿来搭一个新的游戏，然后想着在这个游戏里面能有新的感想。现在的我，也许只是唱戏玩游戏的心态不一样了，但搭戏台的游戏还是继续下去。

我在一次次跟过去道别，以不同方式缅怀过去，如果人连过去的道别仪式都没有，那信念感也就不复存在。

七月底到九月底在欧洲生活两个月，每天我都在庆幸我不再需要重复之前的一切工作，只是开始关心当下的生活和在眼前的时光。我开始跟小动物对话，跟大自然亲近，跟陌生人聊一些生活琐事。之前的我是自我隔离人群的，因为我觉得我的每分每秒都是应该被最大化地利用，让我进步成为更好的人。但是之前更好的定义是什么呢，拥有更多的财富和价值，但是我在拥有更多物质之后反而开始担心我要怎么来把它花出去，以及做更多的投资让它们不贬值。时刻会耗神地想我该花钱做什么，这让我知道任何的物质和金钱最后都是一种精神的负担。每个人其实都是一个和弦音符，你的经历和成长都会在这个音符上奏出不同的音律，有时和谐有时候嘈杂，但在这一刻我只想做减法，把杂音和跟主旋律无关的东西都剔除出去，脑中只剩下和谐的单音频，世界也开始平静下来了。

我在那之后开始跟之前的人生阶段画句号，意识到我想保留的一些习惯，也戒掉阻止我去享受生活的情绪和行为方式。我用一个月跟之前的很多东西告别，包括见到之前的朋友我会说我已经不是…样子了，我已经不做…了，他们惊讶于我两个月极大的变化，这种变化是由内而外的，我感觉整个五官世界都清爽了很多。

我才涣然发觉我之前做的一些重大决定竟然没有跟过去画句号这一步，我总是突然决定放弃一个工作计划，或者跟人的不辞而别，然后马上离开那个可能会挽留我或者带给我记忆伤痛的城市，去一个完全陌生的城市开始。我甚至没有耐心地跟之前的一切做一个告别，匆匆离开然后让新的记忆和探险激发的肾上腺素冲刷掉我可能有的罪恶感。但是跟过去告别也是对自己负责的一个表达方式。告别之后就没有过去的藕断丝连，也少了对未来的未知恐惧，下面的路会走的更笃定和坚决。

我承认我是一个没有勇气去面对负面情绪的人，因为大部分的情绪被我意识到的时候，会以剧烈的压强喷涌到我的胃里，翻江倒海让我不知所措，我甚至无法理解我为什么会有这么多复杂而强烈的感觉，朋友说我是敏感体质，我甚至想如果有的选我会做一个平庸木纳的人，也许不大喜大悲才是一种解脱。我尝试了很多方法去驾驭我不可控制的情绪，像驯服一匹绝不低头的野兽，它宁愿拼到最后一刻来殉葬自己执着的自由，也不愿做一个被征服过的单调旋律。我有的时候甚至佩服这个看不到的野兽，被它的能量和执着所感动，但是做一个情绪完全自由的人，最后跟洪水猛兽也没什么区别。慢慢我开始接纳这个敏感脆弱的情绪音符，把它调整成可以和声的平和音效，驾驭情绪的自由也是人迈向精神自由的过程。

很多时候我的文字是一个人在黑暗里的反省，不需要任何光亮或者共鸣，只是单纯的抒发，我好像从来没有需要跟人强烈共鸣的需求。但是我也想分享很多我在每个单打独斗之后的心声，但是我完全不会在乎有没有人真正地听懂或者感同身受，人生太短了，我会在寻求精神知己的路上错过许多值得抒写的故事。

Chapter 4. Time: 01.21.2022

I’m curious about the basis of regulation in the whole universe, to explain the randomness of many things which I don’t have answers to yet. Finding a fundamental theory I could use to analyze myself, is the purpose that I exist and continues to make it through the tough moments. During this journey, I found that numerous historical narratives are rather biased and altered by the group of people who wrote them, then I challenged the theories that I have been input externally since my self-consciousness was established, then I realized nothing can be defined in an absolutely concrete manner, and started wondering will our life be the same if we are told that all the history is what we never experienced and memories are implanted into our brain every day before we woke up?

We are on such a journey to balance the movement of evolving and indulging like Yang and Yin. Just like those moving particles that swim around within a set space which we could also call “universal regulatory boundaries”, we will know where is it once we reached there with a very random chance, by each movement, the certain event will be triggered and the unpredicted consequences happen during this movement.

Overall, did we humans exploit enough about the universal law? Or we are too unsophisticated to discover the truth yet? Everything may be explained in a line of equations, in a very simple line, in a word that we are all familiar with.

Who could link the random concept of two completely unrelevant things, which could result in the imperceptible evolution of human history? such as I Ching‘s a binary system that could influence the invention of computer software? As the philosopher and scientist Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz was inspired by I Ching’s complex binary code in the form of hexagrams, then he wrote binary system which became the language of a modern computing system.

Science of I Ching：

1. The I Ching is the digital coding system of the past 5,000 years – The foundation of the digital revolution of computers.

2. The unigrams, bigrams, trigrams, and hexagrams of the I Ching are fractal patterns representative of the changes that occur throughout the universe.

Not only binary numeral system is relevant to Iching, Dr Martin Schonberger published “The I Ching and the Genetic Code – The Hidden Key to Life” in 1973. He discovered that there was a 1-1 equation of the 64 hexagrams of the I Ching and the 64 DNA codons of the genetic code.

The Bagua and eight trigrams:

Bagua is from the Taoist cosmology which indicates the fundamental principles of reality, it is often used in Fengshui in Chinese culture to search the cause and consequences of an event from eight related concepts.

The Iching Bagua represents a mini version of our great universe, giving micro and macro views at the same time about our life, the direction of a certain event, the flow of energy, and the karma circle.

I got 2 swollen lymph nodes on my neck after I was vaccinated for the first time, and I thought many consequences while waiting for the doctor's diagnosis, and I went to my Chinese doctor and he said one function of a lymph node is reflecting the infection of the body once it detected virus. The treatment is simply waiting for the body's immune system to recover by itself.

I checked the universal prescription for my syndrome online, I was a kind obsession with the concept of node, as it has linkage to almost everything in our world:

By dictionary.com: A data point or cluster within a tree or other information structure, as defined by its relationship to another data point or cluster.

By Cambridge dictionary: the point that represents the lowest amplitude in a pattern of destructive interference.

By Web 3 dictionary: any device connected to a blockchain network. Because blockchains are distributed peer-to-peer networks, nodes come together to create the network’s infrastructure.

By Medical definition: one of many small organs in the body that remove infectious cells, germs.

I do feel like “we” just live temporarily inside of our bodies, instead of owning it, if so, there are more insightful questions waiting to be answered:

• What is calling all those lymph nodes to gather together to reflect the infection in the body as a form of swollen node?

• How did they can respond to the infection warning sign in such a prompt manner without our consciousness?

• Has our body been programmed, so it automatically coordinates and computes what we have been experienced externally?

Similar to virus and immune system, about our social connections:

• If each of us is just sole node in a giant social network?

• What could bond random people in this giant social network?

• Is there any chance that every connection has been evenly randomized?

In James Gleick's Chaos, the world is based on chaos, which is the consequence of complexity.

In Linked by Barabási Albert-László, he addressed random networks, clusters, and Six Degrees of Separation and Small Worlds. To some extends, the world is evenly constructed by each person as a node, and the whole web included everyone inside, only 6 links can connect two irrelevant nodes within this giant web.

To recall all those distant nodes, the mechanism is simple as to make an order, or describe it in a more humane way, to give a purpose/mission/consensus, you name it.

Somehow the search of the answer was paused for a while until the description of DAO popped up on my screen one day, why would we form an organization is why all the clusters would gather at a certain point in history.

If you can interpret those terms in this order: O-A-D, the storyline would be: We to are gathered under certain mission-We agree on “freedom and individual thinking matters the most”- The best way for us to work together is equally controlled by one mission as that is why we are here.

You can try to put those 3 letters in another order and make story like O-D-A or D-O-A, it is fun and inspiring!

What is your journey, starting from your origin?

I've been a solo experimenter in my own universe, I have been brought up in an environment that most people trust the objective consensus over subjective discovery, which set many rules and frames around my life--I was against it at the very beginning since I was a kid, I was quite rebelling. With the struggle of reality and self-resonation, the only console I had in my life was traveling around and feeling a different environment. Also, I feel the urge to express myself in another language system. I studied French literature at high school and been discovered the world of philosophy. Ever since then I started my journey, of discovering this visualized and conceptualized world with my own eyes and experience, I've been lived in France, the US, Denmark, and traveled around 40 countries during the past 6 years. Then I worked in the United nation/finance/founded my NGO then after I found blockchain, more specifically a place that is tolerant to my unlimited imagination. I have been working in wallet/DAO/started my web3 space little by little. I found the industry that I worked in has special charm and philosophy, which is correlated to my ideological discovery along with my trips, most things are just replication of what I have been experienced and I started to make cross-field research, by the topic of "Am I a line of code" and started my own mediative experiment journey.

1. I walked on my way to the gym and have been told its closed because of the close Covid case, and on my way back, Spotify played the song:

2. Having a debate in head: “We lived in such a variation, behind the massive changes and variation, there might just be just one equation, to produce and stimulate what we saw. If everything is changing, what is not changed? I kept testing the reality by putting myself in a conventional high-risk and unpredictable situation, I wish to compare the consequences to conventional lower-risk life choices, but what has been changed after I started going with the flow? I may never know. “

3. Had a discussion about Dune with Cali and I archived our whole conversation into Wechat “Favorites”, where you can store all documents there, then I found it has theWeb3 logic in this Web 2 tool, Wechat had everything about what the blockchain trend indicates: from personal data storage, NFT conversion, personal search engine to database categories and use Tag feature to build constructive category system! It is a personal Metaverse so to say, you have all your experience and memory recorded and archived in a social media platform!

4. Then I browsed my Twitter feeds and saw one response to a question: -"What is feeling? - “We are entering a cultural reality where subjective experience supersedes objective consensus. ”

5. Ming shared with me his graphed workflow about building a VR project, I looked into the product flow and told Ming my passion is about research on the most irrelevant and absurd topics now, then later on I found this link appeared in my chat group:

I found it is a research center on philosophy and tech, I saw their contact and write an email.

--I feel I have been receiving powerful and obvious hints from everywhere each time I have a strong feeling about doing certain things, I took it as a coincidence for most of the time until it became an ordinary phenomenon.

Then I contacted a friend who was the DJ for an event I hosted, invited him for an interview, and said to him we will cover the transportation fee for him if he came along for the interview discussion. He answered like: you are a trusted friend so I will not ask you for the fee. I shared with Ming and he said I was credited with good quality, then I came to think what if we live in a world based on the credit system from others judgment just like in the Black Mirror, I hope there are more sincere and authentic reviews from others, but still, that world might be either too chaotic or ideal.

It is a pretty spontaneous thinking flow, isn’t it? But it looks like a normal day for most people, so I start to seek advice from a few people who are familiar with the thinking graphs and creator working process.

Jessie is a founding team member from Fat Garage and she was one who told me to take notes on my thinking flow, as she also is an advocate for Roam Research, a useful tool to record a person’s research logic in a database graph.

I asked Jessie one question about my thinking flow, I was surrounded by so many ideas and inspirational conversations every day, I often feel overwhelmed and kept wondering what I could make a better analysis of my logic and the thinking process.

By starting with Roam, I kept asking myself what is holding people back from communicating in a more efficient way? As in the last chapter, I mentioned language is a curse to humans to think without a social border. What if we show others our logic flow and thinking process instead of finding a way to express it, a lot of problems will be solved then. But how to make it analytical and visualized?

Many times, the conventional coordination process is proved to be not productive enough, to demolish individual creativity and one has to compromise a lot to work in a group. What if we could improve the method of communication? Or even the communication logic?

Web.3 builder’s initiatives are to prioritize individual creativity by creating the platform to incentive creators by token and social exposure more than ever, then the capital flew in and caught more people’s attention, and it made people think we are like the cavemen walking out of the dark and slow era of our coordination process and old-fashioned economical environment, there is a lot to build and a lot to achieve in order to take more people out of the cave.

Yet, the coordination issue has not been particularly solved, we started to realize the failure of the old system but yet have a better system to replace it, but build another world order from the scratch, like the infidel under suppression. We only wish to get out the current suppression, while figuring out what is a well-established future for us, I guess there is no time for us to think, at the edge of awakening, everyone just hopes to run the fastest and furthest, then we can look back and see what we have been done wrongly, it is the beauty of the universe as well.

Web3 is already here to evolve with us on every single breath, maybe it is already there at the very beginning?

I had brainstormed with Summer just like we used to do every time we met, she once found an interesting comparison on Word’s definition in the Bible in English and Chinese translation.

Here is how Word is described in John1:1 NIV:

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

He was with God in the beginning.

Through him all things were made; without him, nothing was made that has been made.

In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.”

*In Chinese, the Word is translated as Dao, meaning “way,” “road,” “path,” “course,” “speech,” or “method” also a Chinese philosophy called Dao, Confucius can be said to be “Truth”. The first sentence above translated in Chinese is 太初有道，道与神同在，道就是神. Referring to Dao is God.

Where did the language come from? How did it shape the environment and the culture around us? Is there anything beyond human beings’ imagination?

Later I dig deeper in the religious explanation, and it reminded me of the Tower of Babel, (מִגְדַּל בָּבֶל‎，Migdal Bāḇēl), in Genesis 11:1–9:

At first, the whole earth had one language and the same words. And as people migrated from the east they found a plain in the land of Shinar and settled there. And they started to work and build the city together, then Yahweh came down to see the city and the tower that humankind was building. Then he decided to scatter people in different languages so they won’t understand each other.

For this part of the story, language is a curse to mankind, it is invented to divide them into groups with different ways of thinking, with different ideologies, or even more confusion which caused the misunderstanding and the segregation. However, as a communication tool or cultural medium, why did we need so many different languages?

I shared this question with Youssef, a friend who studied Arabic and he threw his doubt: “Did the opinion about the old culture come first or the new culture was invented first?”

We question and critique, thus more diverse ideologies are generated during the process. The study of Alexander R. Galloway, Language Wants To Be Overlooked: On Software and Ideology, simply addressed ideology has two natures:

“Ideology was always about two things at the same time: the representation of one’s lived social relation (following Althusser’s definition), but simultaneously ideology is implicitly a matter of critique, for as Fredric Jameson said once about capitalism, simply to utter the word ‘ideology’ seems to indicate one’s disdain for it.”

Often the invention of a new culture and ideas are embedded with disbelief and doubt in the old ones at first, then it is collected and formed as a shared common idea within a small group of people, then it touched other people and involved them to participate into more rounds of discussions. With more discussion, the idea and belief start to construct concrete rules and borders, from the point it comes along with opponents and segregation, then more layers of ideas and belief will be born based on the involving disbelief and doubt. The ideology will keep evolving in an algorithm format.

If we see religion in different societies, we can find the pattern of history and culture inside, the religion is the mirror and archive of the social movement and evolution. Religion rides on language into broader publications and attracts more followers.

Language serves as the foundation in the genesis period of humankind, in general, communication consists of words, which are organized in a conventional way, which could be expressed through writing, speaking, and gestures. It is also very identical in each group, community, and nation. I found the fascinating part of language is when I try to fully understand it, I have to embrace the entire entity that a language carries, combining with culture, history, an essential spirit that is deeply rooted inside of it, that is what glues the individual in the community tightly. The language could be regarded as the spirit of a community, the roots of a tree, the blood of life.

Through my study journey on French literature, I’ve been told by many “pragmatics” that language is just as a tool, it is truly undervalued in many cultures than a science major. Language itself has such a permeability, human breath and sleeps with it, without it, we probably will be soulless numb creatures, although most of the creatures have their own way of observing and expressing. Also, language is like water, the sentence formation is like a spontaneous art performance, in a discussion or a speech, we would feel the words flooding into our brain and constructing in a certain way and simultaneously being produced from our language system.

According to Wikipedia, it describes the communicator simply encode and decode the message during the process of communication: “In communications and information processing, code is a system of rules to convert information—such as a letter, word, sound, image, or gesture—into another form, sometimes shortened or secret, for communication through a communication channel or storage in a storage medium.”

System of rules, which refers to the underlying code. Does it sound familiar?

Language basically serves as a system of rules in its nature, Ludwig Wittgenstein once stated “The limits of my language mean the limits of my world.” - The words of this language are referred to what only the speaker can know — to his immediate private sensations. The language here, therefore, marked one’s frontier of knowledge and defined the border of one’s known and unknown. It is the system of rule, it is the law.

Back to the statement on language is a curse. As a natural habitat for human’s innate and acquired behavior, language seems an environment setting, to constrain people’s way of thinking and expressing themselves, I always feel the language itself has too many constraints and I had the urge to study another one to fulfill my needs of accurate expression, but it is quite impossible to reach the ideal way to express myself correctly and completely, the more we study on languages the more sense of unfulfillment it will accumulate in a person.

If language is a rule, what if we don‘t want the conventional rule? We break the old one and reconstruct a new one. We build a new system, a new border, a new law.

So in this context, the word represents the rule, language represents the system of rule, then code serves as an invisible but strong role across the systems, what we might call order or even law.

Nothing can better explain this new emerging order as the concept from The Complexity:

“At each level of complexity, entirely new properties appear. At each stage, entirely new laws, concepts, and generalizations are necessary, requiring inspiration and creativity to just as great a degree as in the previous one.”----Anderson 1972.
