Please allow me to describe the process and thoughts behind the creation of this new photo-based glitch/generative art work "Cosmoforge | 宇宙鍛造".

About Collection

Cosmoforge | 宇宙鍛造 is glitch/generative art based on photographs on Bitcoin.

Inspired by the Gamma Continuum Calendar's concept of an eternally endless calendar and science fiction, the work originates from Kyoto street photographs evoking an imagined, cyclical universe.

Each photograph represents one of four cosmic states—Void, Portal, Warp, and Hyperspace—forming an orderly universe that endlessly cycles. The four photographs are input together into an on-chain glitch program, where the ordered cosmic state is disrupted, fused, and reconstructed.

Through the interplay of the original photographs' nuances and the unpredictable harmony of the fully glitched images, a new universe emerges as a dimension of disorder. Bitcoin transactions permanently capture this moment of creation as a snapshot, preserving this unique universe.

Realizing the flow of entropy from order to disorder and the immutability that perpetuates the moment on-chain reveals Bitcoin's potential to evoke cosmic properties, demonstrating the profound depth of its canvas for unleashing human imagination.

The original program, inscribed with the four photographs as its parent, is inscribed on Uncommon sats. With that inscription as its parent, 650 child inscriptions exist.

The Inspiration Behind This Work

This work was inspired by the “Gamma Continuum Calendar” project held in the Gamma community, an Art on Bitcoin platform.

The Gamma Continuum Calendar is a perpetual calendar for daily use. Each of its 366 date pages features unique artwork by a Gamma Partner Artist. Bound with a spiral binding, it allows continuous use day after day, year after year, until the end of time. As a perpetual calendar, each date is represented only by the day and month, without days of the week or years, making it a reusable calendar.

I was honored to participate in this project. What this calendar evoked for me was a “cycling universe.” Drawing inspiration from science fiction films and novels, I curated four street photographs that suggest the state of a cycling imaginary universe.

These four photographs represent the cosmic states: “Void” → “Portal” → “Warp” → “Hyperspace.” Beginning from nothingness, warping through an entrance, reaching hyperspace, and then returning to nothingness. I created this work envisioning an orderly, imagined universe where these four states continuously cycle.

Exploring directions for shaping it into a work

However, I hadn't inscribed these four-photo series as Art on Bitcoin. While I could have simply presented them as-is, I felt within myself the thought, “Couldn't I create a more elevated expression based on these four photos?” and was searching for that approach.

However, during this process, my second child was born, bringing significant changes to my personal life. While I felt happiness, there was a prolonged period where I could barely create any art. Yet, the idea of the work remained constantly in the back of my mind. Whenever I found a spare moment, I would jot down ideas or research possible expressions, but I struggled to find an approach that would take shape...

As this state continued, just as my personal life finally began to settle down, I received a proposal for a project: to airdrop generative art to holders of the Gamma Season Pass. I remember feeling incredibly honored.

After accepting this proposal, an idea suddenly came to me. Could I use glitch/generative art to create a new universe from the four base photographs that evoked space?

An Approach to Creating the Universe

Photographs evoking the four states of an imaginary universe depict an orderly cosmos. Through glitch/generative art, unpredictable outputs with a high degree of randomness are generated, shattering the orderly universe and creating a chaotic one. That is the image.

The universe possesses properties like the increase in entropy, a flow from order to disorder. Furthermore, the flow of time within the universe is irreversible; the past is definitively fixed. Considering Bitcoin as an artistic medium in light of these concepts, I sensed that Bitcoin might also possess some of the universe's inherent qualities. I believed the motif of the universe was inherently compatible with Bitcoin.

Trial and Error in Production

From there, I repeatedly created rough program sketches and applied glitches, experimenting to see what kind of expressions were possible.

First, I tested individual glitch effects, then combined them to explore unpredictable, highly random outputs. However, while unpredictable, finding expressions that were also beautiful proved to be a challenging process.

Stuck, I consulted my wife. Her advice was simply, “Isn't the output a bit bland?” Indeed, while applying different glitch effects to each photo and forcibly blending them created unpredictable glitch effects, the problem was that areas inevitably ended up blown out.

From those words, I conceived an approach to harmonize an image retaining the original photograph's nuances of color and form with one completely destroyed by glitches. By overlaying an image preserving the original photograph's nuances of color and form onto the areas blown out by glitches, I achieved harmony with the fully glitched image. It felt as though a new universe had come closer to expressing the moment of creation.

Art on Bitcoin Architecture

This work is structured as follows:

• Four photographs are each inscribed.

• One original glitch program exists, with the four photographs as its parents.

• 650 child inscriptions exist, each with the original glitch program as its parent.

The original glitch program is inscribed on the 2025 Uncommon sats. (I chose the 2025 Uncommon sats because 2025 was a year of significant personal change for me.) 650 child inscriptions will be airdropped to Gamma Season Pass holders. Additionally, the four photographs have metadata specifying their title and next_state, defining which state in the universe each photograph represents and which state it is linked to.

The architecture also expresses the mechanism where the ordered universe composed of the four photographs is created by the program into a unique, disordered universe for each one.

Conclusion

I am deeply honored to have had the opportunity to create the work Cosmoforge. Through this project, I have realized the attempt to generate an imaginary universe on Bitcoin, and I sense the potential of Bitcoin as a canvas for unleashing human imagination.

YAKUYOKE is a photo-based glitch/generative art on Bitcoin.

YAKU (厄): misfortune or calamityYOKE (除け): to ward off or get rid of.

Inspired by the ritual of warding off bad luck at shrines in Japan, this work is a wish for good luck, inspired by the idea of burning misfortune and calamity from a photograph with the flames of generative art.

The inspiration for this work was a flame that the artist saw at a ceremony to ward off misfortune in the New Year 2025, in an effort to shake off the scam theft misfortune that he suffered in the year 2024.

This experience inspired him to ask himself, “Can I express the ritual of warding off misfortune and calamity and wishing for good luck on Bitcoin? This was the theme of the project.

The act of burning eight pure street photographs taken in Shibuya, Tokyo, and making them non-transferable corresponds to the act of burning firewood.

Using p5.js and WEBGL programs, the Burned photo data is randomly retrieved by Recursion, and various glitch destructions are added to reproduce the flames of burning bad luck.

The output of the glitch is randomized according to transaction ID, bitcoin block size, and number of transactions.

In this work, the artist also aimed to create an architecture that embodies the concept of “burning bad luck” as Art on Bitcoin.

All eight photographic inscriptions are Burned, making them non-transferable and non-sellable.

The generative art program is inscribe on Uncommon Sats.

Programs and photos are in a Parent-Child relationship, where the program is the Parent and the photo is the Child.

By using Delegate/Reinscribe to construct the Parent/Child relationship, the structure is reproduced on the on-chain as well, like a flame burning on a piece of firewood, with the code at the top, connecting the burned photos and aggregating them.

It is hoped that the on-chain flame, which exists in the wallet, will be like a amulet that protects against scams and other misfortunes and calamities, and wishes for good luck.

What inspired me to create this work?

I decided to create this work because I wanted to shake off the bad luck and disasters that befell me in the year 2024.

In 2024, I had more health problems than any other year in my life, including a cold that lasted several weeks and a bone bruise, but the most shocking of all was last October 2024, when about 3,000 USD worth of BTC was stolen by scammers.

The crypto world is a DYOR, self-responsible world, and I have no feelings of resentment towards anyone. However, at the time, I still strongly remember the various feelings of fear, disappointment, and apology to those around me who had inconvenienced me.

Troubles such as scams and hacking are inseparable risks in the crypto world. I feel that we need to protect ourselves and ride the rough waves.

Recently, there have been an increasing number of technological attempts to prevent scams, such as apps that guard against scams in wallets, but I wondered if there was anything I, as an artist, could do.

I wondered if there was anything I, as an artist, could do to reduce the number of people like myself who feel depressed after being scammed, by alerting them through artistic expression. What came to mind was the idea of “warding off bad luck.

The idea of “YAKUYOKE” → removing scams and other misfortunes and calamities

The idea of “YAKUYOKE” in creating this work came to me when I went to a shrine in the year 2025 for the New Year's first visit.

In Japan, there is a culture of going to shrines and temples to perform a traditional ritual called “YAKUYOKE”. Although I don't think there is any scientific basis for this, you know that many people pray for good luck in the New Year in the hope that it will be a good year.

Although there are various methods of praying for good luck, it is common to have a Shinto priest or a Buddhist priest pray to the gods and Buddha in the year of declining luck, called the bad luck year, to ward off bad luck and disasters or to prevent them from befalling you in advance.

As I mentioned at the beginning of this article, I was exhausted after the scam damage in 2024, and although I was not in a bad luck year, I decided to have my bad luck exorcised at the New Year's first visit to a shrine in order to make a wish as well.

The method used to ward off bad luck and misfortune at the shrine I went to was to make gomagi (firewood) from bad luck and misfortune, and burn it with a sacred fire.

When I actually witnessed the ritual of burning evil spirits with powerful flames in front of my eyes to drive them away, my stagnant feelings were mysteriously cleared away. At the same time, I was inspired by the method of burning bad luck with flames.

Based on this experience, I wondered if it would be possible to create an artwork that expressed the idea of burning bad luck. I wondered if the work could be a kind of talisman to prevent bad luck and disasters that exist in the world of cryptography and to pray for good fortune, and this led me to deepen my ideas.

Proceed with concept conception and production.

How do we express the idea of a flame that burns like a bad luck? First of all, I approached the idea of using photographs, which are the foundation of my own expression, as a base to see if I could create an expression like a flame that is burning with fire.

For the base photo, I went with my intuition and chose photos of graffiti and stickers scattered around the streets of Shibuya, Tokyo.

Although it may be controversial, I often photograph graffiti and stickers because I like their chaotic impression. I thought that the chaotic accumulation of expressions left behind by various street people could provide sufficient strength to my work as the base wood for a flame of mischief.

From there, through trial and error, I approached my own image of a flame that burns away evil by destroying photographic images with glitches, changing colors, and so on.

I then added randomness to the color pattern of the flame and the degree of glitching. While the transaction ID was used as the seed value, I also included the bitcoin block size and number of transactions as elements of the randomization so that it could be a generative art.

Architecture as Art on Bitcoin

Since this work was to be developed in Ordinals, I sought an architecture that would embody the concept of “burning bad luck” as Art on Bitcoin.

As shown in the schematic diagram, I arrived at the following form for the base mechanism to generate the generative art of this work.

• All 8 photo inscriptions have been Burned and are no longer available for transfer or sale.

• The generative art program is inscribed to Uncommon Sats.

• Programs and photos are in a Parent-Child relationship, where the program is the Parent and the photo is the Child.

• By using Delegate/Reinscribe to construct the Parent/Child relationship, the structure is reproduced on the on-chain as well, with the code at the top and the Burned photos connected and aggregated to the code.

I hope that the flame that burns the bad luck built on Bitcoin will be a protection against scams and other misfortunes and calamities, as well as a talisman for good luck.

Conclusion

Through the creation of this work, I have been able to reflect on my own inadequacies in my own actions and to move forward positively without being defeated by bad luck and calamities.

Of course, there is no scientific basis for this work that can definitely remove bad luck and disasters. However, I believe that it can be a source of emotional support like a talisman.

I will continue to devote myself to it without giving in to bad luck or difficulties.

Please allow me to share my thoughts and announce my new work, "Kyoto Raindrops / Dissemination," which will be released through NFT ART TOKYO 4.

Outline of the work

“Kyoto Raindrops / Dissemination" is a multi-chain collection across Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and Tezos. “Kyoto Raindrops" is a pure street photography piece, and "Dissemination" is a glitched p5.js+WEBGL generative art piece based on "Kyoto Raindrops" photographs.

“Will cryptoart live on?" When I asked myself this question, I was inspired by the ephemeral night rain I encountered during my stay in Kyoto. When I asked myself this question, I was inspired by the ephemeral night rain I encountered during my stay in Kyoto.

Crypto-art feels like an entity that changes, spreads, and propagates like ripples in the rain. It can change within the world of a chain and become the core of a new expression, or it can transcend the differences between chains and propagate expressions and ideas.

The traces of those activities and expressions are perpetuated in the blockchain, propagating and living on. Such nature of crypto art is presented by the pure photography of rain on a night in Kyoto, the chaos caused by various glitches, and the development in multiple chains.

The collection consists of 64 editions for each of Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, and Tezos, for a total of 256 editions. Holders who mint "Kyoto Raindrops" will have "Dissemination" airdropped into their minted wallets, allowing them to experience the pure photography, glitching, and generative artwork. Both photographs and codes are CC0 licensed.

Inspiration for this work

What inspired me to create this work was the sentence "BACK TO THE NFT / ARE YOU ALIVE?" that was part of the theme of NFT ART TOKYO 4.

I have been working with crypto art since December of 2021, and have been involved in its production while being affected by the fluctuations of the market.

The phrase "are you alive?" seemed to me to be a question that was being asked of my own activities and of the cryptoart that I was involved in.

From there, I interpreted the question "Are you alive? and I would like to create a work of art based on my own interpretation of this question.

Can cryptoart exist in a multi-chain?

When we think about the question, "Will cryptoart live on?" the idea occurred to me to consider an approach that asks, "Can cryptoart exist in a multi-chain?" I thought of the idea of a multi-chain approach.

The idea of multi-chain came to mind largely because I have worked with multiple chains, starting with Ethereum, then Bitcoin Ordinals, Tezos, and Solana, and have created work on each of them. I feel that each chain has its own charm.

However, up until now, I have usually selected a particular chain when creating a collection, and have used that chain as a foundation for my conception. However, I have never tried to create a work based on multiple chains, and I felt that it would be a challenge for me, and that it would be meaningful to think about it.

What I have felt in my activities in multi-chain works

There are several things that I felt during my activities in the multi-chain work. First, each chain has its own characteristics and differences, and each individual has different tastes and values regarding chain selection. I think each chain has its own charm, and I personally respect each chain.

Another thing that I have felt strongly recently is that ideas, technologies, and activities born in one chain can propagate beyond the chain. Random examples include the NFT format of 1/1 and editions, the 0N1 Force chain migration, Bitmap to Solmap, the collaboration between SuperRare and Gamma, the culture of Artists support Artists, and many other movements that cross the chain. I feel there are a number of them.

Conceptual Conception

As I reflected on what I felt at such a multi-chain event, I began to think about the concept, wondering if crypto-art also has the property of propagating beyond the chain.

When I imagined the elements of thought and creativity in the artwork spreading beyond the chain, I thought of the ephemeral rainy night I encountered during my stay in Kyoto for my first solo exhibition. I felt that cryptic art could be seen as an entity that changes, spreads, and propagates like ripples in the rain. With this inspiration, I curated four photographs of rainy nights in Kyoto to create the "Kyoto Raindrops" collection.

I also feel that crypto-art works can change within the world of chains and become the core of new expressions, or that expressions and ideas can propagate across different chains. Perhaps I feel this way because I have experienced not only pure photography, but also collaboration and generative art production based on photography.

Based on this perception, we created the "Dissemination" collection based on photographs of rain we encountered during our stay in Kyoto by our first solo exhibition, combined with generative art that brings chaos and change by glitching in p5.js+WEBGL.

The pure photography and code at the core of this work are both CC0 licensed. We have taken it as an entity that can propagate regardless of chains in the future.

The source code of the work has been uploaded to Github.

Multi-chain approach to this work

One multi-chain crypto-art work that has already been developed is "Disobedients" by Patric Amadon. This work is also influenced by it.

In "Kyoto Raindrops / Dissemination," the approach differs from that of "Disobedients" in the following ways.

• it is limited to the L1 chains where the artist has released his works.

• The number of editions and prices are the same for each chain (although there are some currency fluctuations).

• Ownership and experience of both pure photography and glitch/generative art

These are intended to honor and respect the way each of us perceives the chain. I believe the above approach is probably unprecedented as far as I have researched.

Will cryptoart be propagated and accepted across the chain? How will it continue to live on? This is the question I want to ask myself through my work, and it is also my hope that cryptoart will continue to live on.

I am pleased to inform you about Ordinals' pure photography works, "Tokyo Substances", which will be exhibited at my solo exhibition in Kyoto.

Tokyo Substances

There are many moments in everyday life that activate and amplify the imagination. Ten masterpieces in Tokyo street snaps over a period of about three years were carefully selected. The moments are perpetuated on the bitcoin-on-chain and become the driving force and substance for new creations. All images are inscribed in uncommon sats.

Each work is titled with what I imagined or imagined for the moment I encountered it. Since the works are abstract in expression, they may be seen in different ways by different viewers, but I believe it is good to have a variety of interpretations. I hope you will enjoy it as one way of looking at it.

Ginza, The walls of the building were paved with fine metal lines, and the lines were wavy. This reminded me of the electrical vibrations that can be seen on an oscilloscope, and gave me the illusion that the walls, which were not supposed to be moving, were continuously shaking.

Harajuku, a staircase colored in red and black was reflected in a space covered with many mirrors. The intricate pattern reminded me of the texture of a fabric weave.

Daikanyama, a mesh of lights was reflected in the aerial passage. The sharp impressions appeared to be lasers shining in multiple directions.

In Shibuya, an old Japanese house, a wooden lattice was seen through distorted glass. Looking at it, the view I was seeing now seemed like an fantasia.

Harajuku, while walking at night, I saw orange light leaking from the design of a break in the building. The shape of the light gave me the impression of a powerful bolt of lightning striking at night.

Gouache

Akihabara, colorful buildings were reflected on the surface of the river. Their color patterns and textures reminded me of gouache watercolor paintings.

Incandescence

Harajuku, at night, neon lights were reflected on a metal wall. The pattern of light distorted by the unevenness of the wall surface gave the impression of a powerful incandescence in itself.

Nixie

Shinjuku, the orange neon light was reflected on the shutters. It gave the impression of a Nixie tube glowing warmly.

Abyss

Abyss

In Ebisu, a red brake light of a car was reflected on the ceiling of a multi-story road. The deep color and light seemed to invite me into an abyss.

About Uncommon Sats / Parent-Child Inscription

All works in this collection are inscribed in Uncommon Sats. The Parent-Child Inscription ensures the relationship between the works.

To the best of my knowledge, this is the first collection of Uncommon Sats / Parent-Child Inscriptions in Pure photography.

I have been creating various types of artwork on Ordinals, such as generative art based on photographs, and through my creative activities, I have come to reaffirm the value of pure photography itself. With this in mind, I wanted to leave my work on Sats, where the value is as high as possible.

About the new creative base

The works in this collection are not only 1/1 works in themselves, but also serve as the basis for the creation of generative / glitch art through recursive inscription.

An example of the use of Tokyo Substances work as a seed is the work "RuneScan", a tribute to Runestone.

This one was also featured by Leonidas, who was involved in the launch of Runestone.

This work was inspired by the question, "What is Runestone composed of?” I considered each piece of Tokyo Substances as a "substance" that constitutes Runestone, and attempted to express it through various superimpositions and glitches.

Out of the 10 pieces, 4 pieces are randomly utilized. I would like to continue to use Tokyo Substances as a base for various creations, and to produce generative / glitch art in the future.

About the release of the collection during the solo exhibition

This time, as a new attempt, I worked on releasing the collection during the solo exhibition. The reason for this is to show once again that the on-chain data of the works can be used as a base not only for generative/glitch art, but also for prints in the real world.

Thanks to your support, I was able to hold my first solo exhibition "Multifaceted" in Kyoto, as part of KG+, a major event where over 100 photographers will exhibit their work throughout Kyoto.

The venue is MANDARACHA, a place where you can enjoy a variety of wonderful teas from all over Japan. I was introduced to the owner of the venue through a conversation I had with DenDekaDen, a web3 anime IP project, and was honored to have the opportunity to exhibit my work through the web3 connection.

And I am pleased to be able to frame and exhibit my work at Tokyo Substances this time.

About Japanese paper(和紙) print

Since this exhibition is to be held in a Japanese-style space where Japanese tea is served, I used Japanese paper for the prints. The paper is called "Kozo Atsukuchi Shiro" (Kozo Thick White: 楮 厚口 白), which is made by the traditional method of Awa Washi paper. It has the following characteristics.

Kozo (paper mulberry) is a typical raw material for washi, and its fibers are thick, long, and strong, so the paper is strong and has excellent preservation properties.

The roughness of the paper and the deep coloring give it a unique texture.

I chose washi as the medium for the prints so that the urban moment of Tokyo would be in harmony with the Japanese space, and I believe that I have achieved good coloring and texture.

As described below, this print will be sent to the winning bidder.

This is not an announcement of an artwork...but an announcement that I have created a Chrome extension called "Btc Transaction Exporter" that outputs Bitcoin/Ordinals transaction history in CSV for tax return purposes.

It is free to use. I hope you will see it through to the end, as I have summarized how to use it, how it was created, my thoughts and feelings about it and about donations!

Introduction

Btc Transaction Exporter is a chrome extension that exports bitcoin transaction history in csv.

Sites such as mempool allow you to view transaction history in your browser, but do not provide the ability to save history.

I have created this chrome extension to help those who like Bitcoin and Ordinals to enjoy the activity more and save time on administrative work.

• No wallet connection

• No wallet data collecting

• Use Mempool/MagicEden's Free API to retrieve all transactions for a given wallet address

• Total UXTO of vin and vout per address for easy viewing

• Label the sum of vin and vout for main address

• Transaction fee on a separate line

• For transactions creating Ordinals Inscription, add content_type to supplemental information

• For text/plain Ordinals Inscription used in BRC-20, etc., add text content to supplementary information

• Using MagicEden API, add Ordinals inscription name and collection name to supplementary information

note) This is only an extension to obtain transaction history. I am not a tax expert, so I would appreciate it if you could organize and utilize the history for your own tax returns.

How to generate CSV

• Download extension from Chrome Web Store.

• Open the Chrome Extension.

• Enter the Main Address to which you want to export the csv.

• Enter another bitcoin address(optional); if you are using a wallet such as Xverse, you may have a bitcoin address separate from your taproot address. It will be marked as your address.

• Enter an alias for the wallet(optional). The alias name will be included in the exported csv.

• Click Export CSV. After a few moments, the CSV will be exported.

note: Because the free mempool and magiceden APIs are used, the request time is set to every second due to rate limitation. Therefore, if the number of histories is large, it may take a little longer. Please understand.

Background of the creation

I usually create artwork in the web3 space, but I was trying to organize my Ordinals transaction history as I am about to file my tax return 😭. I tried to look at the mempool site, but ran into the following issues...

• Not being able to export CSV with Etherscan like ETH

• There is the concept of UTXO, which is simply a format that makes it difficult to quickly understand deposits and withdrawals

• Inscription creation and sending of Ordinals is difficult to understand only from mempool.

• There is no functionality that can be replaced by other sites.

So, I looked into the free Mempool and MagicEden APIs and worked on CSV output myself, and managed to do the following to output the data for myself. Now I am horrified that I had to do it manually...

• To make UTXO as address-by-address as possible

• To be able to see the difference between deposits and withdrawals

• To be able to see the transactions involved in Ordinals.

However, as I was making it, I thought that there might be many other people who would have trouble with this, so I worked on developing it into a Chrome extension so that other people can make use of it.

It may have some rough edges, but I would be happy if you could try using it.

I am pleased to announce my second Ordinals piece for Gamma Prints, "BitFragmentation". The work will be released in two forms: a Dutch auction of the original 1/1 work and edition sales on Prints.

Outline of the Work

“BitFragmentation” is an on-chain generative art of pure photographs on Ordinals, bicolored and variously fragmented. The original code is inscribe on Rare sats containing Alpha / Omega. The base photo is Inscription 34826878: "Mount Fuji from Tokyo". P5.js and WEBGL code bicolored the photo color to bitcoin meme orange and white. Using pixel sorting, one of the glitching techniques, the fragmented images flow randomly up, down, left, and right. The viewer's mouse interaction also causes the fragments to fluctuate and remain still. Bicolor, vertical and horizontal movement, coexistence of still and fragmented images, and Alpha / Omega sats are all elements reminiscent of Bit. The persistent and constant fragmentation incorporated in the work represents the power of Art on Bitcoin.

Inspiration for creation

The renewed attention to my first Ordinals collection, "Ordinal Tokyo Fragments," was the catalyst for me to consider creating this project. A few weeks ago, when Japanese Ordinals artists such as OTO, Okayaman, and TSITRATION attracted a great deal of attention, my first Ordinals collection, "Ordinal Tokyo Fragments," also attracted a great deal of attention. I am honored to have been welcomed by so many people interested in Ordinals, including the CryptoPunks group.

At the time, I was contemplating the concept of creating a photo-based generative artwork, and the experience left a strong impression on me. I then proceeded to create a work of generative art based on the "Bitcoin meme orange and white binarization" and "division," which were at the core of the idea for Ordinal Tokyo Fragments.

Production Process

As with my previous work "Deviation" at Ordinals, I used p5.js and WEBGL to create generative art based on a photograph.

The base was a pure photograph perpetuated in Ordinals, "Mount Fuji from Tokyo," which was used in Recursive inscription.

Using WEBGL shaders, binarize the color of the photo to white and orange, the color of the bitcoin meme.

It then utilizes Pixel Sorting, a type of glitching, and incorporates fragmentation in a variety of ways. The image flows in random directions, up and down, left and right, and the number of fragments changes depending on the mouse-over position. As a minor gimmick, mouse-over or tap on the lower right edge of the image to stop the movement and display the base image.

Why BitFragmentation?

The word of Fragmentation was taken from "Ordinal Tokyo Fragments," which was the inspiration for this work.

The reason I put "Bit" at the beginning is because I felt that this work contains many elements that are reminiscent of Bit, including the word Bitcoin, the binarization of orange and white, the vertical and horizontal flow, and the two states of the original photo and fragmentation, among many others.

Also, the original script and this piece inscribe to Rare Sats containing Alpha/Omega, which indicates the beginning and end Sats of Bitcoin. This is also associated with Bit and I feel it matches the work.

About CC0

Also, as for the code for this work, I am thinking of making it CC0.

As I felt in "Ordinal Tokyo Fragments," I felt the power of the meme itself in adopting the orange color of Bitcoin.

I wanted to give something back to the Ordinals space, and when I saw glitch artist Solemn contributing code to CC0, I wanted to try my hand at it.

Outline of the Collection

Tokyo Spectrum

The night in Tokyo is filled with various colors of light. They shine in, reflect, emit, and reflect. There is beauty in the moment when the city and the light blend and become abstract.

Impression in the Solana Chain

I have been developing my work cross-chain with ETH, Ordinals, and Tezos, and have always found it interesting that each chain has a different nature and culture.

While respecting each chain, I wanted to expand the scope of my activities as much as possible, and I learned that artists working in the area of NFT photography were interested in Solana.

The Solana chain was an uncharted area for me, and there were few examples in Japan, but I created the collection with the determination that I would not know unless I jumped into it.

About the photos in the collection

As was the case with "Tokyo Condensation," which was developed as part of the Tezos chain, I prefer abstract expressions. I prefer to use transparency and reflections to capture moments in which it is not clear at first glance what I am photographing, but rather, I deconstruct and reconstruct the elements.

When I thought about what kind of work I wanted to develop for the Solana chain, the color scheme of the Solana logo and website instinctively reminded me of the image of "Tokyo at night, the colors of neon lights.

In reviewing photos of Tokyo at night over the past two years, I curated four photos that were particularly striking. I named the collection "Tokyo Spectrum" because I thought the word "Spectrum" would fit well with the collection of photographs in which light of various colors, the seven colors of visible light, are scattered.

I felt a sense of immersion at the moment when the lights of various colors melted into each other in Tokyo at night. I would be happy if you could feel such a sensation.

Outline of the work

It is an on-chain art that attempts to deviate from the concepts of photography by glitching a pure photo that has been persisted on Ordinals. The base photo is Inscription 34826878: "Mount Fuji from Tokyo". WEBGL and p5js code are implemented for the random continuous glitch, including bayer, color inversion, data-bending, block noise, and distortion. The original work was inscribed in Uncommon Sats, and the seed for the random glitch process is also based on Uncommon Sats Number. The structure of the code's constant glitching of the photo on the on-chain symbolizes the robustness of Ordinals' on-chain digital artifact, and the culture of continually evolving and deviating from existing concepts.

Inspiration for creating this work

I have always been interested in generative art using creative coding and wanted to use it myself to express myself.

When I was thinking about how to incorporate generative art into my work, I came across the concept of glitch art, and after seeing that there are artists such as Solemn and Sir Gadfly at Gamma Partner Artists who have created impressive glitch art, I decided to pursue the concept of glitch art using creative coding. I wanted to create a concept of glitch art using creative coding methods.

About the Concept

In conceptualizing glitch art, I began by researching glitch art, and here is a definition of glitch art from Wikipedia.

Glitch art is the practice of using digital or analog errors for aesthetic purposes by either corrupting digital data or physically manipulating electronic devices.

Wikipedia: Glitch art

Examples of early glitch art include "Digital TV Dinner (1978)" by Jamie Fenton and Raul Zaritsky. The work includes elements such as image distortion, electronic sounds, and noise.

Originally an art form created by glitches in analog video games and videos, glitch art now seems to refer to the act of exploiting digital or analog errors for aesthetic purposes, either by corrupting digital data or by physically manipulating electronic devices.

In my research, I became interested in the free culture and ideology of glitch art, which has no sole significance, but each explores accidental visual novelty through system malfunction and destruction, and through these explorations, rethinks the way we deal with technology itself.

This led me to the concept of my work, to attempt to deviate from and rethink the concept of photography through glitching.

Production Process

When I thought about the expression using glitch art, it naturally came to me that I wanted the base to be a pure photograph inscribed in Ordinals, which is "Mount Fuji from Tokyo" released by Gamma Prints.

In the previous projects "Ordinal Tokyo Fragments" and "Recursive Tokyo Vintage 78," the photos were pre-processed off-chain before inscribing, so this time I wanted to take the approach of glitching the photos on-chain.

In researching how to glitch photo image data in coding, I came across WEBGL (Web Graphic Library) shaders.

WEBGL shaders are programs that perform processing on graphical data in the browser. They use GPUs instead of CPUs for processing, and can apply parallel processing to each pixel in an image.

I thought that the use of WEBGL shaders would be a good match for the expression I wanted to work on this time, as it allows for high-speed processing of even large image data. It was also attractive to me that many people were working on glitch processing with shaders, and I could get various inspirations as I worked on the project.

As an overview of the mechanism, p5.js is used to load the base photos, and the photo data on Ordinals inspiration is called up to the browser using Recursive Inscription. Then, glitching is applied to the called image data using WEBGL shaders.

Various types of glitches such as bayering, color inversion, databending, block noise, white noise, distortion, etc. are applied as randomly as possible. The complex random processing attempts to deviate from the concept of photography by creating visual coincidences.

Both the image data of the photo and the code that applies the glitching are persisted on-chain. The seed for the random glitching process is also based on the Number of Uncommon Sats, indicating that the work is derived from a unique Rare Sats.

I believe that the structure of the code's constant glitching of photos on the on-chain symbolizes the robustness of Ordinals' on-chain digital artifacts and the idea of deviating from existing concepts and continuing to evolve.

Let me announce "Mount Fuji from Tokyo," a new NFT photographic work on Ordinals using Gamma's Prints.

Outline of the work

Mount Fuji from Shibuya, Tokyo at sunset. It is rare to see Mount Fuji about 100 km away from Tokyo. However, it was by chance that it was visible from the venue of the web3 art event in May 2023. The inorganic buildings of the metropolis and the majestic Mount Fuji standing with the gradation of clear dusk. It was a moment when the harmony of opposing elements. This work is also inspired by "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji" by the Ukiyo-e artist "Hokusai Katsushika". It is formed on the basis of the concept of Ukiyo-e as prints and Gamma Prints.

The original work is also inscribe in rare sats, palindrome sats.

How the work was released on Ordinals

I am honored to announce that I have been selected as an artist for Gamma's Gamma Partner Program.

There were 60 applicants for the first term and 20 for the second term, and I heard that there were over 200 applications, so I am very happy that I was chosen out of all of them.

About Prints

Prints is Gamma's solution to selling editions on Ordinals, a technology that allows you to inscribe (mint in NFT) a single original work and then reproduce and sell it at a low price using recurisive technology.

For more information on the concept of Prints, please visit Gamma's blog. I found it fascinating because it seems to be an extension of the technological development of printing from a historical point of view, and the realization of reproduction technology on the blockchain.

On treating the photograph itself as a work of art

I have experienced photo-based creations such as "Ordinal Tokyo Fragments" and "Recursive Tokyo Vintage 78" on Ordinals.

After a sort of hiatus from photography itself, I recently developed a collection on the Tezos chain called "Tokyo Condensation”, which focuses on photography itself.

The attraction I felt for photography itself, which I rediscovered there, was the moment of reality itself, which has not been artificially altered, the moment of transience, which will not return once it has passed away.

I felt again that I could express this feeling better on Ordinals, where the works themselves are placed on the chain, and decided to deal with the photographs themselves.

Thanks to Gamma's Prints technology, we have been given the opportunity to make our photographs widely known in the form of editions. Thank you very much.

About the photograph of the work

I had quite a hard time deciding what kind of photo to release for Prints, but this time I decided on a photo of Mount Fuji taken in Shibuya, Tokyo.

First of all, as mentioned in the overview, it is rare to see Mount Fuji about 100 km away from Tokyo. I found it fascinating to put that ephemeral moment on the on-chain.

I also happened to see Mount Fuji from the "Bright Moments Tokyo" web3 art event in May 2023, and wanted to put it on the on-chain, as I had photographed it on the day I was involved with web3.

Fuji on the web3 on-chain, and also because I felt that it would be a good fit for a photo that would be developed on the foundation of Gamma's Prints.

When I read the blog about the concept of Gamma's Prints, I was reminded of Ukiyo-e, a traditional Japanese print art form. I was also reminded of "Fugaku Sanjurokkei" (Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji) by Katsushika Hokusai, an Ukiyo-e artist.

In addition, I chose this photograph because I felt it made sense to develop a photograph of Mount Fuji, as I also had inspiration and respect for the 36 Views of Mount Fuji.

This work is developed based on the respect for Ukiyo-e, which are prints, and the concept of Gamma's Prints, which was formed on the blockchain as an extension of the technological development of letterpress printing. I hope you enjoy it.

About the Collection

"Tokyo Condensation" is a collection of Tokyo street snapshots taken over the past year and a half while working at NFT. People, street patterns, architecture, light, color, and atmosphere.These are moments in which all the elements of Tokyo are abstracted and indiscriminately condensed into a single moment. We hope you will feel the existence of the city of Tokyo more in such a moment.

About releasing on the Tezos chain

First of all, after the experience of releasing my work on Ordinals or Ethereum, I found it interesting that each chain has a different nature and culture.

Among them, I have long been attracted to the Tezos chain, which has fostered a strong culture of connection and support among artists.

I also like to collect not only objkt art but also fxhash generative art.

In this context, I also wanted to challenge myself as an artist to develop a collection for the Tezos chain, so I created this collection.

On using photography as a theme for the collection

I have experienced photography-based creations such as "Think Lunar Tokyo," a recent collaborative project with artists I respect and admire, and "Ordinal Tokyo Fragments" and "Recursive Tokyo Vintage 78" at Ordinals. In the course of these projects, I have been reexamined and reoriented to the photograph itself.

In the process, I wanted to confront photography itself once again, and chose it as the theme for the collection.

What is it that I feel about photography itself? I felt that it is simply to be able to face the beautiful moments of reality and face the emotions.

I am attracted to moments that have not been artificially altered, moments that are fleeting and will not return once they have passed. It is also fun to look back at those moments and let my imagination run wild.

I find value in those moments, and I hope that viewers will feel that value as well, which is why I have chosen photography itself as the theme of this collection.

About the photos in the collection

I prefer abstract expression. I like to photograph the subject as it is, but I have found that I prefer to photograph moments where it is not clear at first glance what I am photographing, such as when some object, such as a mirror, glass, or water surface, is transmitted or reflected, or when I have a bird's eye view, as if I have deconstructed and reconstructed the scene.

It is similar to the technique of multiple exposures, but instead of layering elements separated by time, I am attracted to using objects and events in the moment and finding a moment that combines composition, texture, and color atmosphere in a particular moment.

I find beauty in moments that are real, but which seem to jump out of reality and extend reality.

I would like to continue to pursue and photograph such moments, not only in the photographs that will be developed this time, but also in the future.

I challenged myself to create a different kind of expression from the previous Ordinals collection.

About Recursive Tokyo Vintage 78

“Recursive Tokyo Vintage 78" is a collection of abstract representations of Tokyo with Vintage elements, using the historic Vintage Sats called Block 78 and Ordinals' Recursive Inscription.

The collection is inspired by the Vintage elements of traditional Japanese shrines, fans, Japanese umbrellas, and dharma dolls, the overprinting technique used in Ukiyo-e prints, and the randomness of Generative Art.

Based on three photos taken in Asakusa, Tokyo in the summer, the artist generated over 3,000 pieces by overlaying the photos in random order and position, and carefully selected 78 pieces. All inscriptions are inscribed on Block 78 Vintage Sats.

Hope you enjoy the possibilities and coincidences of various abstract expressions that can be created from three photographs.

Leading up to the production

After inscribing our first photograph into Ordinals (equivalent to the act of minting NFT) in March 2023, I released my first collection "Ordinal Tokyo Fragments" in June 2023.

Thanks to the support, 100 pieces sold out in less than 20min and received great attention. Also honored to be owned by SpZjulian, OTO, Mera Takeru, TSITRATON, Okayaman, and other respected artists. Thank you very much.

Based on the response I received from such Ordinal Tokyo Fragments, I wanted to work on an abstract expression that incorporates the characteristics of Ordinals that I have not yet been able to utilize, and I challenged myself to create this collection.

Production Process

Considering the Ordinals techniques and elements to be used

When considering the concept for the new work, I wanted to incorporate technologies and elements that had not been used before, and "Recursive Inscription" and "Rare Sats" quickly came to mind.

Recursive Inscription is a technology that allows an Inscription to recursively (recursively) recall the contents of Inscriptions that have already been minted. I wondered if it would be possible to use this technology to create a representation that reuses as many high-resolution photos as possible.

At the same time, I was interested in "Rare Sats," a culture of adding narrative value to historical sats. I thought "Vintage" and "78" sounded wonderful, and wanted to incorporate them into my work.

Conceptualizing

From the word "Vintage," I wanted to create a motif based on a photograph of the town of Asakusa in Tokyo, which still retains elements of Japanese old-fashioned style. I feel that the town of Asakusa possesses many of the Japanese Vintage elements that I like.

On the other hand, I was quite worried about how to utilize Recursive Inscription. I wanted to incorporate Vintage elements while taking advantage of the recursive nature. So I came up with the idea of "How about randomly overlaying photos like Generative Art, while incorporating Ukiyo-e overprinting?" This is what I came up with.

Generative Art is my favorite genre of art, in which a program is used to generate a wide variety of abstract expressions. Ukiyoe is a historical Japanese painting, which is produced by printing various colors on top of each other. This led me to the technique of "overlaying three photographs, each in a single color, in a random order and position.

The three color palettes were chosen with reference to an ukiyoe print featuring the town of Asakusa: "Rokujuyoshu meisho zue Edo Asakusaichi" (Hiroshige Utagawa). (The orange was chosen because of its association with Bitcoin and Ordinals meme).

Production

The specific image generation method is as follows. (It is fine to skip over the details)

• Pick 3 photos taken in Asakusa, Tokyo in summer

• Monochromatized to red, blue, and yellow, respectively, and made transparent in order to superimpose them

• Inscribe each base photo to Block 78

• Inscribe photos are stacked on top of each other by randomly changing the stacking order and positions of the photos, trimmed to a square, and converted to SVG image

• About 3,000 images were generated by program with different parameters, and then carefully selected to 78 images by hand.

I was surprised to see such a wide variety of output from a limited number of three photographs. I hope you enjoy the possibilities and coincidences of expression in Ordinals.

I would like to inform you about the new collection "Ordinal Tokyo Fragments" that you are developing at Ordinals. I have challenged myself to create a new kind of photographic expression on Ordinals.

Collection Overview

Ordinal Tokyo Fragments is a collection of 100 fragments based on a bird's eye view of Tokyo. The collection attempts to create an abstract expression consisting of the lines and shapes of each fragment of the Tokyo photograph and the orange that symbolizes Bitcoin’s meme. I hope that through the collection, visitors will enjoy what impression the divided and fragmented photographs give, and what impression the orange, which represents the meme, gives to the photographs.

Leading up to the production

The first time I inscribed in Ordinals was around March 2023. At that time, I was very honored to receive one photo, Inscription #250771, as an inscription. After that, I thought a lot about how to develop Ordinals with photos, but it didn't take shape...

Later, while witnessing the rise of Ordinals and BRC-20, I saw not only memes but also various collections of abstract art: Ordinal Pixels, AbstraOrdinals, Ordinal MIMI, Cords, ordinal pattern art labo, etc. There were a number of fascinating collections that were developed on the Ordinals on-chain.

I am a photographer, but I prefer abstract art expression, so naturally, I wondered if I could develop an abstract expression based on photography at Ordinals. This is a question I asked myself. This is a question I asked myself, and it is also a challenge I took on for this collection.

Production process

With this expressive theme in mind, I created the following form based on street snaps of Tokyo, which is my genre of expression. I worked on this project while exploring what kind of output I could create using the complex lines and shapes of Tokyo and the oranges of Bitcoin.

• Photographs taken from the heights of Tokyo were selected. I selected the photo in which the architecture is particularly cohesive.

• Black and white with two shades of gray

• Black is replaced by Ordinals orange

• Divided the photo into 100 segments (numbered from upper left to lower right)

• Inscribe each of the divided photos

Unlike the overhead view of the entire photo, I feel that the division of the photo has completely changed the impression of the photo. I would be happy if this gives you a chance to appreciate the photos in a new way.

In this article I provide information and thoughts on my new collection “Multifaceted Tokyo - Open Edition”. This is one of my most challenging works which resulted from personal reflections on the importance of photography and collaboration in NFTs.

Collection Overview

Multifaceted Tokyo - Open Edition is a collection consisting of CC0 (*1) photographs, a license that indicates copyright-free, and creations that are a cross between those photographs and CC0 art.

I feel that the web3 space has the property of changing people's sense of curiosity and imagination by minimizing various hurdles such as transfer of ownership and accelerating direct and highly coincidental connections and information input. I was inspired by the original experience of creative freedom brought about by the CC0 art I stumbled upon on the web3 space.

The act of burning a CC0 photo as Origin and redeeming a creation that is a fusion of CC0 photos and CC0 art. The act of doing so inscribes the relationship between the Origin photo as essential and the creation on the blockchain. Curiosity, changes in imagination, inspiration, and thoughts are also expressed on the transaction and become objects of added value. At the same time, by designating Origin's photos as CC0, I hope that they will be positioned in the web3 space as an aid to creativity and inspiration.

About the Origin Photographs

This work is a street snapshot of a moment in the multifaceted charm of Tokyo's Ginza district, where reality and virtuality seem to blur together. This work was awarded by 1x.com, the world's most difficult photo curation site.

Final thoughts behind this Project

This work was inspired by the open editions of Checks VV Edition, Proceed w/ Caution, Nyan Baloon, and others that creatively utilized the Burn & Redeem feature from late December 2022 to early 2023.

I was also inspired by participating in pho's Spiral Contest and being strongly attracted to the movement and energy that CC0 licensed art brings.

This creation would not have been possible without the creative freedom of CC0 and the connections made by web3 and NFT. It was the direct connection born of a shared interest in web3 and NFT that gave me the opportunity to expand and challenge my own inner expression, and gave me the courage to transcribe this relationship on the blockchain.

At the same time, by setting the origin photo to CC0, I hope that the photo itself will become a trigger for creation. I hope that my work will be positioned as part of the chain of such a movement.

I hope to continue to explore the possibilities of photographic expression in the context of web3 and NFT, and I look forward to your continued support.

I’m mag( @mag_cinephoto ), an NFT photographer. A brief profile is below.

NFT photographer searching for beauty hidden in everyday life. This time, I collaborated with Kyushime-san ( @kyushime ), an artist with whom I have been very good friends. Kyushime's profile is quoted and excerpted from his official website, but his career and accomplishments are extraordinary...!

An artist who creates an immersive experience with an overwhelming dose of He became an NFT artist in March 2022. Although he has not done any particularly solid promotion, his Total Volume traded in about 6 months is 24.83 ETH. He continues to produce works today, supported by his core warm fans. Originally a professional cartoonist-illustrator with experience in various weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and bimonthly manga serials under other names, as well as illustrations for novels and original stories. This is a collaboration of painting and photography with Kyushime. How can we make painting and photography intertwine at a high level? We challenged ourselves to create a work with such a theme as the basis of our work.

It was also a challenging challenge to create the work completely from scratch, with many twists and turns. It was very difficult, but I believe it was a very profound experience.

So I decided to write a note to let people know not only the outline of this collaborative work, but also the actual production process and the thoughts that went into it. I wrote it in the hope of making it as clear as possible, so it is quite long, but I would be happy if you could read it.

About the collaborative work

“Lunars of Tokyo" is the name of the collaboration collection, which will be presented in an edition format, which is probably rare among NFT's collaborative works.

Twists and turns in the production of collaborative works

From here, please allow me to write about how we actually produced the collaborative work.

As I mentioned at the beginning of this article, we were thinking about "how we can make pictures and photos intertwine at a high level," "we want to bring it to a form that we are satisfied with," and "we do not want to make it a mere collaboration of pictures and photos.

The following is an excerpt from a conversation we had via DM at the time. (Note: The wording and endings of the messages have been slightly adjusted to make them easier to read. The names of the people in the conversation are abbreviated.)

How did the collaboration start?

It was about half a year ago, on May 28, 2022, that I suddenly received this message from Kyushime-san.

Kyushime: "I would like to collaborate with mag's photos a little ahead of time. Sorry for the abruptness, it's just a vague idea right now, but it's a challenge I would like to fulfill if only mag-san is willing."

To be honest, when I first saw this sentence, I was so honored to be able to collaborate with Kyushime-san, of whom I am also a fan...! But at the same time, I wondered if I would be able to collaborate with the world view of Kyushime-san's work. Would I get in the way? I was very anxious.

However, as the word "challenge" in the message said, I intuitively felt that this would be a challenge for me as well, and I accepted the offer. I think I was strongly motivated by a desire to reward the offer.

Taking the first steps toward collaboration

At the time, we both had production on separate schedules, so we gradually began to work on ideas.

At first, we really started from scratch. We had nothing to base our work on, so we started by coming up with vague ideas in each other's heads.

Kyushime: "It seems hot to use a contemporary Tokyo theme that I don't have in my own work yet.”

Mag: "I take photographs with the theme of a multifaceted Tokyo, so it would be interesting to expand that worldview through collaboration.”

With this as a starting point, I decided to take my own photos first. I chose Shibuya and Harajuku as the Tokyo neighborhoods in which I would like to photograph Kyushime-san's work. I found myself snapping 1,207 photos in one day. (It was summer at the time, so the heat generated by the camera was extraordinary, and I remember being drenched in sweat as I snapped the pictures.)

Along with some of the photos I selected, I presented Kyushime-san with a rough idea of what we would actually do if we were to collaborate.

Thinking about the direction of collaboration

From there, we discussed more specific ways to combine the two, based on a rough sketch of how we would mix photographs and drawings created by Kyushime.

Kyushime: "We want to get to a point where we can show the pictures and the photos at a high level and show them to our satisfaction. I want to get to a point where we can show them to the viewer. I think we can get some hints for the harmony of pictures and photos from the image of BOOM BOOM SATELLITES' PV. It's the opposite of what we do, though: live-action people and illustrations in the background.”

As a side note, this is the first band I've heard of at this time, and they are really cool! mag: "I agree that you want to mix pictures and photos at a high level, so what is the format? I thought about it, but then I wondered if there is an element of collage in it.

I used the word "collage" because I was shocked by the fact that Kyushime-san and Kurosawa had collaborated on a different piece of work shortly before the collaboration began.

mag "Why were you so fascinated by the collaboration between Kyushime-san and Kurosawa-san? I think it was because I was struck by the fact that the two artists clashed in their expressions as equals and sublimated them into a single work in the form of chaos. Rather than having the photograph and the picture exist separately, wouldn't it be more intense and appealing if the photograph encroached on the picture, mixing them together by force and making them into one?"

Kyushime: "Would you like to try collage, mag-san? I might like to see your collage photos, and I have a desire to make a different line of collage from Kurosawa's."

Trying to make a collage photo

I had no experience in collage, although I had mentioned it in the course of the conversation...! While listening to Kurosawa-san's collage method, I decided to do my own research and try making a collage.

Multiple exposures of the Tokyo moments that moved me, superimposed on my own senses.

mag "The theme of my photography is a mixture of the real and the virtual, a moment of imagination, but by incorporating collage, I feel that I am becoming further and further removed from reality and am being concentrated into an imaginary image."

kyushime: "I feel that the process of drawing pictures to match the collage creates something new. For example, mag's collage, my drawing transcribed to match the collage, and then the collage again?

Reexamining the direction of production

As we talked about many things like this, Kyushime-san shared with us the concerns he felt based on his own experience of collaboration.

kyushime: "Once again, I think that mag's photographs are wonderful collages and can be completed on their own. But on the other hand, I want to avoid the fear that we will kill each other's work.

kyushime: "I proposed the collage because I genuinely wanted to see mag's collage, but my concern became stronger when I saw the work that mag recently submitted for the exhibition project.

kyushime: "I felt that mag-san does not process (collage), and that is why he takes his works, which is like the core of mag-san as a photographer.

kyushime: "Yes, we are now thinking that we really want to collaborate while taking advantage of each other's best qualities. That probably means I want to collaborate well without killing the unprocessed, finished photographs."

It was a word that I felt I was more than deserving of, and that I respected very much. I was grateful for the opportunity to collaborate on the collage, and I welcomed the change of direction to improve the quality of the work.

Confirmation of mutual characteristics and photo selection

From there, we decided to select photos that would harmonize with Kyushime’s paintings, and to seek a matching process that would involve as little touching of the photos as possible. We started by confirming each other's characteristics in the process.

kyushime: "In terms of the mutual characteristics part, how do you see the characteristics of your own work? My own characteristics are. I consider myself good at relatively dark and beautiful things, such as aggression, rather than bright things, which I consider to be my personality."

mag "I think I prefer a calm and somber impression with low color saturation rather than vivid and gorgeous. I also think it is my characteristic to express surrealistic impressions or moments that feel unrealistic.

kyushime: "I see, it may be easier to match the core of the theme if we draw together. I think my characteristics and mag's characteristics will be best when they are combined. mag, can you see more of your pictures?"

Therefore, I decided to show you a selection of some photos that focus purely on my own expression, rather than on the images of Kyushime's work.

Rough creation of illustration

From this point on, Kyushime created a rough illustration based on the photos selected from the candidates.

kyushime: "Black and white without shadows might be better. I would like to focus on the sporty side and create a series of 4 patterns in black and white, and use the composition and depth of the photos as an approach to collaboration."

The rough draft took my breath away...! He also suggested that it might be innovative to try to develop my own editions in this way. And then the production proceeded further.

kyushime: "I tried to bring the photo forward by combining the three-dimensional structure within the photo well, while using monochromatic characters so as not to disturb the photo. But the girl's fashion, whether to give it a full swing of Tokyo feeling or a form that blends in with the city, is troubling."

I had my own trouble here, but I expressed my opinion as one of Kyushime's fans.

mag "The approach is to define fashion from a world view. Do you want to swing all the way to Tokyo, or do you want to make it a form that blends in with the city...? For me, I feel that the more uncomfortable it is, the better."

mag "For example, if a girl were to wear contemporary Tokyo attire, I feel that it would somehow narrow the scope of her imagination. I would rather have a sense of mystery and wonder what it is, which I find attractive in his works. and the sense that the mystery deepens is better.”

mag "I personally feel quite comfortable with the somewhat inorganic and abstract clothing in the rough drawing, which is not tied to the time and world of contemporary Tokyo.”

kyushime: "So you need a fashionable outline in the sense of matching it well with the photograph, but it is more imaginative to ignore the fashion of contemporary clothing and make it original or even abstract.... Makes sense."

Based on such an exchange, he brushed up further.

Completion of the work

And finally completed...! When I saw the work, I was very, very moved. I felt that it showed a form of harmony between the picture and the photograph, which was born after twists and turns of deliberation.

The title of the collection was actually decided upon during a detailed discussion in Discord voice chat.

The name of the collection is simply "Lunars of Tokyo”. We also decided to use the plural form "Lunars" in anticipation of the possibility of future expansion.

As for the titles of the works, I am not at liberty to say that I gave them to myself. I titled them according to what I could imagine, such as the impression I had when I took the photos, the impression I had when I actually looked at the collaborated works, or what I thought abstractly.

However, I thought that writing too much detail would limit the space for imagination, so I tried to keep it as simple as possible. It is only one aspect of the work, and I would be happy if you could help me feel and taste the work.

What I felt through the collaboration

As I was transcribing my thoughts in my notebook, I felt that this collaboration was not a production process with a correct answer like a template, but rather a literal search, or rather, a process of twists and turns that led to the creation of the work.

Also, the fact that once we considered the collage approach, we circled back around and dealt with photos that were less conscious of the collaboration, and settled on a simple combination was very refreshing. I think it was also a new discovery for me to be able to adopt the approach of combining things that are all about my own individuality. I think we were able to change course in this way because we had a relationship that allowed us to frankly exchange opinions about the production of the work.

Above all, I think it was a valuable experience to be able to directly experience the creativity of such a wonderful artist as Kyushime-san through collaboration. I learned a lot from him, including his respect for others, his spirit of challenge, and his approach to improving the quality of his work. I am very grateful to Kyushime-san.

Conclusion

This was a really valuable experience, so I have tried to write as vividly as possible about the review process, even though it was very long. I would be very happy if you could get some idea of the production process, its twists and turns, and if you could use it as an element to savor the work again.

How Did the Collaboration Come About?

From here, I would like to write about how we came to this collaboration and what form the production actually took.

Back in February 2022, half a year ago, I was originally struck by a part of Unagi's work, and that is when I fearfully and vigorously asked him to collaborate with me.

I was impressed not only by the intricate line drawings and tresses that make up Unagi's work, but also by the way he sublimated the motifs of ordinary, everyday scenes into beautiful works of art.

I was also impressed by the style of photography, which is to look at everyday life with a sense of curiosity to "find beauty hidden in everyday life.

With this in mind, I sent a DM to Unagi on a half-hearted impulse (I was very nervous, but he said yes!!). Due to a conflict in our production schedules, we were not able to unveil the work until this time, but I am very happy that our collaboration has taken shape in this way. I can only thank Unagi for collaboration!

Workflow of Collaboration Production

First of all, I took a photo with an image of Unagi's work in mind and asked Unagi to choose a photo, and from there I asked his to create a work of his own.

It looks simple at first glance, but I feel it was a form of collaboration that included both of our interpretations of a certain moment, which created a sense of unexpectedness.

I did not take the photographs based on Unagi's prior request for "this kind of atmosphere..." I took the photographs while developing my own imagination based on the impressions I had when I saw his works.

Therefore, each of us had to come up with our own interpretation of a certain moment in order to create this work, and I feel that it gave a very fresh impression.

And then it was completed.... When I first saw it, it took my breath away, and I found myself looking at it again and again. I was also in charge of the description, though I may be presumptuous to say so. Both works contain their own interpretations of ordinary, everyday scenes. I hope that the fresh impressions and emotions I felt when I saw the finished works will be conveyed well in my writing.

Walk Home Together

Excerpts from a Conversation Looking Back on the Collaboration

After the work was completed, I had a meeting with Unagi and we talked about the production, and I felt the real pleasure of the collaboration from what we talked about, so I would like to write an excerpt.

Mag "Normally, I think about composition only based on the information I see through the viewfinder. But when I was trying to take pictures while imagining Unagi's works, I think I was composing and taking pictures while imagining the presence of a character or someone invisible through the viewfinder"

Unagi "When I create works based on the pictures I took, I assume that I will crop the pictures. I am using the photos of people who are working as photographers. It was the first time for me to work with photos taken by a photographer, and it was difficult and new for me to work without cropping a photo that is a kind of work of art.

Both of them seemed to have changed from their usual way of doing things through the collaboration. I thought it was a valuable experience for us to be able to talk like this, and I feel that our work reflects the methods and interpretations that neither of us would normally take.

What I Felt through the Collaboration

Through NFT, I feel that the barriers between creative genres are becoming very low and borders are melting. There are many ways to combine illustration, photography, music, etc., but I think it would have been difficult under the existing system to interact with each other.

However, I feel that the fact that creators are involved in NFT makes it easier for them to interact and collaborate with each other beyond the boundaries of genres. Before I became involved in NFT, I would never have thought of collaborating with illustrators.

Therefore, I feel that my first collaboration with Unagi was a very important first step for me to go beyond the genre of creative work. In that sense, I can only express my gratitude to Unagi for agreeing to collaborate with me.

I have received photos for tracing purposes before, but this is the first time I have received photos for backgrounds of my works as in this collaboration. It was a difficult task to breathe new life into an already existing photo as a collaborative work without destroying its atmosphere as much as possible, but I think it was a valuable experience for us. I believe that this work is unique as a collaboration between a photographer and an illustrator. We hope that you will enjoy every detail of this work.

Conclusion

As I mentioned at the beginning of this article, through this collaboration, I think I have been able to broaden my ideas and creativity beyond photography. I feel that I would like to continue to devote myself to this project in the future.

What is Multifaceted Tokyo?

Multifaceted Tokyo consists of a series of photographs taken during a one-day walking tour of Tokyo, and curated from the most memorable and decisive moments.

Tokyo is a city full of multifaceted charm, blending modern with historical. It is a city of architecture, culture, people, fashion, and food, all of which have a charm that is difficult to describe in a single word.

As a photographer who mainly uses everyday life as inspiration, moments in which the boundary between reality and fiction were blurred, and in which there was scope for imagination, were the most precious ones captured during my photo walk. The unique combinations of human motion, geometric patterns, modern architecture and the sophisticated atmosphere of the city became my muse.

For this drop, I will present four images, each consisting of 10 editions. In the form of editions, I wish to enjoy and share the many facets of Tokyo with as many people as possible.

I hope that this collection enables the viewer to feel the quirky charm of Tokyo, while evoking a sense of curiosity.

How Multifaceted Tokyo was Created and What it Represents

“A collection of desires”. That is how the great street snap photographer Daido Moriyama described Tokyo.

With the Covid-19 disaster, becoming a new parent, and my day job, it has become difficult for me to travel far from home: this has been the driving force behind my motivation to "find the hidden beauty in everyday life”, which has now become my brand in the NFT space.

One fine day, I was lucky enough to make time to shoot alone for an entire day without raising children or working at my day job. I boarded a train bound for Tokyo on a half-hearted impulse.

The photographs I took featured fragments of Tokyo's architecture, streets, and busy business people as subjects and backgrounds without conscious thought. The images in this collection were shot in Marunouchi, one of Tokyo’s commercial hubs. Since I shot on a weekday, most of the people in town were at work.

What left a strong impression on me as I was curating the photos were the intricate patterns and geometric shapes of the architecture, the reflections, and the fashions that stood out in the city. The combination of these elements, many of them spontaneous, resulted in images that would spark a person’s curiosity and imagination.

It was like a tanka or haiku: from which multiple interpretations are often possible, with the limited sounds of a single word.

I think the reason why I value curiosity so much is because I had experienced a loss of curiosity due to the Covid-19 disaster that prevented me from going out and connecting with my creative side. I also believe that the act of looking at the world with imagination and curiosity in such a way leads to vitality not only in photography but also in daily living.

If these images could trigger a sense of wonder in the viewer, I would consider myself to have succeeded in my mission as a photographer.

Why did You Decide on the Edition Format?

This collection consists of four works in editions of 10 per piece, for a total of 40 pieces. I chose this format because I wished to make a more varied body of work available to a wider range of collectors at an affordable price. I also felt that the multifaceted nature of the theme could not be adequately expressed in a single work.

I’ll plan to set up a Discord as a base for research and communication for this purpose. I have been active in NFT Photography for about 6 months. I’m pleased to announce my first collection of 4 NFT Photography editions, titled "Multifaceted Tokyo”.

What is Multifaceted Tokyo?

Multifaceted Tokyo consists of a series of photographs taken during a one-day walking tour of Tokyo, and curated from the most memorable and decisive moments.

Tokyo is a city full of multifaceted charm, blending modern with historical. It is a city of architecture, culture, people, fashion, and food, all of which have a charm that is difficult to describe in a single word.

As a photographer who mainly uses everyday life as inspiration, moments in which the boundary between reality and fiction were blurred, and in which there was scope for imagination, were the most precious ones captured during my photo walk. The unique combinations of human motion, geometric patterns, modern architecture and the sophisticated atmosphere of the city became my muse.

For this drop, I will present four images, each consisting of 10 editions. In the form of editions, I wish to enjoy and share the many facets of Tokyo with as many people as possible.

I hope that this collection enables the viewer to feel the quirky charm of Tokyo, while evoking a sense of curiosity.

How Multifaceted Tokyo was Created and What it Represents

“A collection of desires”. That is how the great street snap photographer Daido Moriyama described Tokyo.

With the Covid-19 disaster, becoming a new parent, and my day job, it has become difficult for me to travel far from home: this has been the driving force behind my motivation to "find the hidden beauty in everyday life”, which has now become my brand in the NFT space.

One fine day, I was lucky enough to make time to shoot alone for an entire day without raising children or working at my day job. I boarded a train bound for Tokyo on a half-hearted impulse.

The photographs I took featured fragments of Tokyo's architecture, streets, and busy business people as subjects and backgrounds without conscious thought. The images in this collection were shot in Marunouchi, one of Tokyo’s commercial hubs. Since I shot on a weekday, most of the people in town were at work.

What left a strong impression on me as I was curating the photos were the intricate patterns and geometric shapes of the architecture, the reflections, and the fashions that stood out in the city. The combination of these elements, many of them spontaneous, resulted in images that would spark a person’s curiosity and imagination.

It was like a tanka or haiku: from which multiple interpretations are often possible, with the limited sounds of a single word.

I think the reason why I value curiosity so much is because I had experienced a loss of curiosity due to the Covid-19 disaster that prevented me from going out and connecting with my creative side. I also believe that the act of looking at the world with imagination and curiosity in such a way leads to vitality not only in photography but also in daily living.

If these images could trigger a sense of wonder in the viewer, I would consider myself to have succeeded in my mission as a photographer.

Why did You Decide on the Edition Format?

This collection consists of four works in editions of 10 per piece, for a total of 40 pieces. I chose this format because I wished to make a more varied body of work available to a wider range of collectors at an affordable price. I also felt that the multifaceted nature of the theme could not be adequately expressed in a single work.

It's been a month since I found out about the NFT in December 2021 and have been exploring its activities. I wanted to show people how I see and think about my daily life through my photographs, so I created a collection of photographs at opensea. It's called "The Nearest Dusk".

In this article, I write about my thoughts on creating this collection. I hope you will read it to the end.

About The Nearest Dusk

"The Nearest Dusk" is a collection of photographs of the dusk seen from the window of my own house, especially the moments that moved me decisively.

This collection is the result of my life's work, in which I have been taking pictures of the dusk from the window of my closest house for about a year since I moved into my current house in 2020. I have carefully selected 10 of the most heart-moving sunsets.

Even though they were taken from the same point, the window of my house, no two sunsets are the same. Dusk is so free, and its appearance brings curiosity and excitement.

In order to get the most out of the colors and gradations of the sunset, as well as the texture and arrangement of the clouds, I only included the minimum number of buildings in the angle of view. I also used a wide-angle lens as much as possible, and composed my photos in such a way that you can feel the sense of immersion in the dusk.

All photos are 1/1 versions, independently contracted in ERC-721, and metadata and images are distributed and stored in IPFS. I hope that this collection will inspire you to find curiosity and inspiration in your everyday life.

Let me tell you the story behind the photo collection as follows.

I live in the countryside of Chiba Prefecture, Japan, where there are no glittering city streets or spectacular mountain scenery. All I see around me is a quiet residential area with ordinary houses. The scenery is far from what you would call "picturesque".

Also, my main job is a telecommuting job, so I don't have many opportunities to travel far. As a person who takes pictures, I feel that I am losing my curiosity due to the unchanging scenery.

In the midst of all this, a turning point in my life came in 2020. There was a COVID-19 pandemic, and my child was born at the same time. It became more difficult for me to go out and travel, and I started to get busy with childcare and work.

Not being able to go out meant that the only scenery I could see was the familiar scenery of my neighborhood. In addition, the lack of sleep due to crying at night made me lose my curiosity and interest, and I started to take fewer pictures with my camera.

Whenever I saw beautiful photos being uploaded on Twitter or Instagram, I felt as if I was being left behind or stagnant. It's hard to go to places with beautiful scenery, so what am I supposed to photograph?

It was the sunset from the window of my house that brought me curiosity and excitement again. One day, when I was tired after a long day of hard work, I casually looked out the window of my house and gasped at the beauty of the sunset.

I didn't want to forget what had moved me, so I unconsciously took out my camera and took pictures of the sunset. After taking the pictures, I felt strangely uplifted and my fatigue was somewhat relieved. I think I was just savoring the joy of discovering a beautiful landscape.

In the process, I realized that even if it wasn't a city or a spectacular view, it was a beautiful place. In the process, I realized that there are beautiful scenes in everyday life, not just in cities or spectacular scenery. From there, I started to take pictures of sunsets that I could see from my window.

I feel that dusk is a phenomenon that evokes a variety of emotions. It brings about emotion, awareness, peace, and healing. It can also evoke nostalgic feelings, like memories of playing outside until late as a child. I gradually remembered that I used to love watching sunsets, which evoke such a variety of emotions, as I repeatedly photographed them.

No two sunsets are the same, even though they are taken from the same location. The coloration and gradation, the shape and arrangement of the clouds are all different. Just a few minutes of time can make a big difference in the impression. Even though we are looking from the same place, the sunset is always free. For about a year, I found myself taking pictures of beautiful sunsets when I saw them.

The sunsets that I could see from the window of my house were the most familiar to me, and they reminded me of my curiosity and excitement in my ordinary life. The act of daring to watch the sunset from the same place gave me the inspiration that beauty can be found in familiar places.

“The Nearest Dusk" is not only a record of my curiosity in photographing the sunset from the window of my house, but also a proof that my curiosity has responded and my heart has been moved. I hope that everyone who sees this collection will be able to feel a little of my excitement. And hopefully, I will be able to inspire people to find beauty in their daily lives as well, which would make me very happy.

About Making the Own Smart Contract

"The Nearest Dusk", which is listed in opensea, and I have adopted the own smart contract (ERC-721). The metadata and images of the NFT are also decentralized and stored in IPFS.

The reason for this is that due to the nature of the opensea marketplace, I wanted to avoid a situation where the first owner of the minted NFT is opensea, and I wanted to ensure that I myself issued the NFT.

Also, by storing metadata and images in IPFS, I try to keep them in a highly persistent form. I also hope that my thoughts and feelings will remain on the blockchain as long as possible in the form of dusk.

However, to be honest, I was unsure about the cost of making my own contract. As I have written so far, the sunset from my house has saved my life, and I want to put it on the blockchain in a better way. After receiving advice from various people and considering the matter, I decided that the best way to prove the creator of the collection to the viewers and to show to the maximum extent who had the thoughts and feelings in the collection and who expresses them is to use the form of an original contract.

I didn't have any prior knowledge about making the own contracts, so I had to do a lot of groping, but the service chocofactory and the information on Discord, which is its community, really helped me. I'm actually working in it myself, so I was impressed by the service's concern from that standpoint as well. I was impressed by the service's thoughtfulness. And even if the chocofactory service were to be shut down, the design includes support for decentralization such as IPFS. I learned a lot and it was very encouraging. The price for each piece will be a flat rate of 0.15 ETH. As for the mint/list of subsequent works, I will add them as soon as I encounter a dusk that moves me and I am satisfied with.
