The decentralized internet, or Web3, is about breaking down boundaries and fostering seamless interaction. This includes the boundaries of rights and ownership. In the current internet, or Web2, rights and ownership are often centralized and controlled by a few entities. This can lead to a number of problems, such as censorship, discrimination, and abuse.

But with an ever-expanding landscape of blockchains, each with its own strengths and communities, true interoperability becomes impossible to find. This is where the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) protocol emerges as a shining beacon, bridging the gap between disconnected ecosystems and paving the way for a truly interconnected Web3 future.

In our previous post, we dipped our toes into the waters of interoperability. Now, we’re diving deeper, exploring the transformative potential of IBC and how innovative companies like Match Chain are leveraging it to elevate the user experience in Web3.

IBC operates as a master key, unlocking communication channels between disparate blockchains. Imagine seamlessly transferring your NFTs from one gaming platform to another, regardless of the underlying technology. With IBC, this becomes a reality, empowering users to roam freely across the vast expanse of Web3 without being confined by technological walls.

“Interoperability is not just a convenience,” asserts Petrix Barbosa, CEO of Match Chain. “It’s the foundation for a truly global, user-centric Web3, one where innovation and collaboration can flourish without artificial barriers.”

But security, always a paramount concern in the blockchain world, remains a cornerstone of IBC. The protocol employs sophisticated cryptography and consensus mechanisms to ensure trust and stability during cross-chain interactions, addressing anxieties about potential vulnerabilities and malicious actors.

The evolution of IBC isn’t solely driven by technical wizardry. Governance and standardization efforts are playing a crucial role in aligning the industry towards a common vision. Emerging standards like ICS-721 and the Cosmos SDK provide a framework for smooth interoperability, while decentralized governance models empower communities to shape the future of the protocol.

To truly visualize the impact of IBC, imagine a financial marketplace where assets flow freely across diverse DeFi platforms, or a global supply chain tracked seamlessly across independent logistics blockchains. These are not future fantasies, but potential realities within grasp thanks to the transformative power of interoperable communication.

As we approach this significant change, Match Chain stands out as a pioneer. By actively championing the adoption of IBC and building solutions that leverage its potential, Match Chain is empowering individuals and businesses to navigate the Web3 landscape with ease and confidence.

Ready to be a part of this revolution? Join Match Chain on its mission to break down interoperability barriers and build a truly interconnected Web3 future. Together, we can unlock the boundless potential of a decentralized internet built on trust, collaboration, and unwavering innovation.

For press inquiries please reach out to:

Ana@matchain.io

Join the testnet: https://matchain.io/faucet

Check out the testnet: https://lisbon.matchscan.io

Web3 is not just the third iteration of the internet, it is a movement geared at changing the dynamics of how digital engagement is done. This cuts across different forms of digital ownership, data management, asset transfer, and social experiences. And the best part? Builders in the Blockchain ecosystem are working tirelessly to introduce innovations further propelling this movement in the right direction.

Two of the most recent and highly talked about innovations are ERC-6551 and Soulbound Tokens (SBTs). If you’ve been paying any attention, you would have come across both ERC-6551 and SBTs, but if you haven’t, in this article, we will be introducing you to what they are, their relationship, and their relevance to the Web3 social ecosystem.

What is ERC-6551?

ERC-6551 is an Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP). This standard allows NFTs to function as smart contract wallets themselves and this means NFTs can hold tokens, receive airdrops, buy other NFTs, or essentially perform any task a smart contract wallet can.

ERC-6551 or Token Bound Accounts (TBA) opens up a new possibility for storing digital assets within a digital asset. This standard links NFTs with their ‘token-bound account’ or ‘token-bound wallets’ so they can own a range of ERC tokens such as ERC-721, ERC-1155, USDC, or ETH.

The proposal was created in February by a joint effort of builders from the Web3 venture studio — Future Primitive and the NFT creator platform — Manifold. Although the proposal is not yet officially a token standard, it’s already being adopted by protocols and projects in the ecosystem.

For example, we announced our latest update a few months ago where we talked about incorporating this new standard to empower ownership on Match Chain, and other projects like Stapleverse, POAP, Lens have also publicly talked about adopting this standard.

According to Dune Analytics data from SeaLaunch, since July till date (Oct. 15) there are 28,140 activated ERC 6551 accounts, 1,588 ERC 6551 transactions on both Ethereum and Polygon, and a total of 13,371 NFTs held by TBAs.

ERC-6551 is nicknamed the “backpack wallet” because they serve as backpacks that can carry around all of your digital belongings. The backpack wallet nickname is also a reference to the fact that ERC-6551 NFTs can be used to create composable NFTs. This means that you can combine multiple ERC-6551 NFTs into a single, more complex NFT. For example, you could combine a character NFT, a weapon NFT, and an armor NFT into a single “adventurer NFT”.

The backpack wallet nickname is a fitting one, as it captures the versatility and power of ERC-6551 NFTs. They are not just static digital assets; they are dynamic and interactive entities that can be used to create a wide range of new and innovative applications.

What are Soul Bound Tokens (SBTs)?

We all love NFTs, and even more so the innovation they have brought to digital ownership and identity. NFTs allow us to prove digital ownership of an asset, and even Twitter has systems in place to verify that someone owns their profile picture (PFP). However, although NFTs are unique digital representations of ownership, they are transferable and can be bought or sold. This limits what can be done with NFTs.

To clearly understand these limitations, on January 26, 2022, Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, published an article titled “Soulbound” on his blog. In the article, he spoke about the concept of soulbound items in Minecraft, which are basically items that once picked up cannot be transferred or sold to another player.

He explained how introducing this to NFT may power a shift from NFTs representing just digital collectibles to more personalized assets that cannot be transferred. In Vitalik’s words, “A common criticism of the “web3” space as it exists today is how money-oriented everything is. People celebrate the ownership, and outright waste, of large amounts of wealth, and this limits the appeal and the long-term sustainability of the culture that emerges around these items. There are of course important benefits that even financialized NFTs can provide, such as funding artists and charities that would otherwise go unrecognized. However, there are limits to that approach, and a lot of underexplored opportunities in trying to go beyond financialization. Making more items in the crypto space “soulbound” can be one path toward an alternative, where NFTs can represent much more of who you are and not just what you can afford”.

By May 2022, the concept of Soul Bound Tokens(SBTs) was proposed by Vitalik Butterin, Eric Glen Weyl, and Puja Ohlhaver in a document titled “Decentralized Society: Finding Web3’s Soul” with the goal of addressing the current limitations of NFTs and different decentralized innovations.

In the document they talked about “souls”, which are wallets holding soulbound tokens. They also cited an example that a person might have a Soul that stores SBTs representing educational credentials, employment history, or hashes of their writings or works of art.

SoulBound Tokens are non-transferable digital assets that cannot be bought and sold (unless you sell your whole wallet) and are not designed to have any market value. Instead, they can be self-issued like CVs, issued by individuals or organizations to represent an achievement or documentation.

SBTs are definitely a game changer for digital identity. The paper really explored how Soul Bound Tokens will help lessen how much Web3 platforms depend on Web2 for identity verification and help amplify the DeFi concept.

How are ERC-6551 and SBTs related?

When you think about their potential collaborative impact, ERC-6551 and SBTs are two innovations that are about to shake up the way we think about digital ownership and identity in Web3.

ERC-6551 is a technical standard that enables NFTs to function like wallets. This means that NFTs can now hold assets and engage in on-chain interactions in their own right.

SBTs, or soulbound tokens, are a type of NFT that are non-transferable and cannot be sold. This means that SBTs are permanently bound to the account that owns them.

While the concept of SBTs was first introduced, ERC-6551 is the first technical standard that addresses the shortcomings such as scalability and security issues of implementing SBTs. So, ERC-6551, makes it possible to implement SBTs in a scalable and secure way.

It’s important to note that SBTs can also be implemented without ERC-6551. However, ERC-6551 provides a number of benefits, such as a standard way to mint and manage SBTs, and a way to interact with SBTs using TBAs.

One way to think about the relationship between ERC-6551 and SBTs is that ERC-6551 provides the foundation for SBTs to be scalable. ERC-6551 enables NFTs to hold assets and engage in on-chain interactions, which is essential for SBTs to be able to represent credentials, affiliations, and enrich the profile/personality of the sbt holder through on-chain history and authenticity verification.

Another way to think about the relationship between ERC-6551 and SBTs is that they are two sides of the same coin. Together, ERC-6551 and SBTs have the potential to create a new paradigm for digital ownership and identity.

Why are ERC-6551 and SBTs important for Web3 socials?

Web3 thrives on innovation. The concept of decentralization, transparency, user ownership, and community empowerment goes beyond ideologies. Moving from proposals to reality has been driven mainly by constant innovation in the space.

ERC-6551 and SBTs (soulbound tokens) are the latest and, as we’ve discussed throughout the article, have great potential for Web3 socials and could be a key agents for mainstream adoption. The following points are some of the importance of these innovations to Web3 socials.

1. ERC-6551 and SBTs — Future of Web3 Social Identification:

SBTs introduce a true symbol for digital identification which can help to seamlessly create a system that does not require Web2 verification for Web3 system to function. This pushes both decentralization and increases the ease of user experience. ERC-6551, on the other hand, makes it possible for SBTs to be transferred between different Web3 applications, making them even more useful for Web3 socials.

ERC-6551 and SBTs can be used in Web3 socials in a similar way to how traditional social media platforms use user profiles and reputation verification systems.

For example, on a traditional social media platform, a user’s profile is a collection of information about the user, such as their name, bio, location, and interests. The user’s profile is used to help other users learn more about them and to connect with them based on shared interests.

On a Web3 social platform, an SBT can be used to represent a user’s profile. It can be used to store information about the user, such as their name, bio, location, and interests. SBTs can also be used to store information about the user’s reputation, such as their contributions to the Web3 social platform or their participation in certain communities.

The main difference between a traditional social media profile and an SBT is that an SBT is decentralized. This means that the user has complete control over their SBT and can choose which information to share with others. It also means that the user’s SBT cannot be censored or deleted by the Web3 social platform.

2. ERC-6551 and SBT will power interoperable and composable digital identity:

ERC-6551 allows SBTs to be transferred between different Web3 applications. This means that users can take their SBTs with them when they move from one Web3 social platform to another.

Here’s another example: Imagine that a user is joining a new Web3 social platform. They want to be able to connect with other users who share their interests and who have a good reputation.

On a traditional social media platform, the user would have to rely on the platform’s algorithm to recommend users to them. The algorithm would take into account the user’s interests and connections, but it would not be able to take into account the user’s reputation.

On a Web3 social platform, the user can use SBTs to find other users who share their interests and who have a good reputation. For example, the user could follow SBTs that represent their interests or that belong to people they admire. This would allow the user to see more of the content that they want to see and less of the content that they don’t.

SBTs could also be used to create reputation systems on Web3 social platforms. For example, a user could be rewarded with an SBT for participating in a discussion on a diversity-related topic. This would allow the user to signal to other users that they are committed to diversity and inclusion. And transferring SBTs between platforms seamlessly with ERC-6551.

Conclusion

Both ERC-6551 and Soulbound Tokens are evolving innovations with a lot of work being done on them, but they already have a great impact on Web3 social identity and ownership.

ERC-6551 provides a more flexible and scalable way to create and interact with NFTs while enabling new features such as on-chain reputation and social relationships. This could lead to the development of new types of Web3 social networks and communities where users are in control of their own data and identity.

Also, Soulbound Tokens represent a wide range of things, such as educational credentials, memberships, and social reputation. This could lead to a new era of Web3 social identity where users are able to verify their accomplishments and experiences in a decentralized and trustless way.

Overall, ERC-6551 and Soulbound Tokens have the potential to give users more control over their data and identity, and by enabling new forms of ownership, ERC-6551 and Soulbound Tokens could help to create a more equitable and transparent Web3.

By 2000, the number of websites had grown to around 17 million, and as of June 2023, there are over 1.9 billion websites online. Also, in 1995, the average internet connection speed was 14.4Kbps. Today, the average internet connection speed is over 100Mbps.This exponential growth has been driven by technological advancements such as the development of broadband internet and the widespread adoption of smartphones.

Mobile devices

The first mobile phone was created in 1973 by Martin Cooper, an engineer at Motorola. The phone, called the DynaTAC 8000X, was a bulky device that weighed over 2 pounds and had a talk time of just 30 minutes. Between late 1980s to early 1990s, mobile phones were mostly for voice and text messaging, and internet access on mobile had minimal functionality.

The move from PC to mobile made a big impact on increased engagement, user-generated content, and user retention. Mobile phones offered users the flexibility to access the internet anytime, anywhere, leading to increased engagement. The convenience of smartphones and the availability of mobile apps transformed the way people interacted with online content. For example, according to a list compiled by Jesse James Garrett, there were only 23 blogs on the internet in 2000, but by 2023, there are over 600 million blogs worldwide. This growth has been driven by the rise of mobile devices, which make it easy for people to create and share content on the go.

Monetization of digital content

The digitization and monetization of online content were also key drivers of Web2’s mass adoption. Web2 introduced the idea of users producing and consuming content, which contributed to the proliferation of user-generated content (UGC). Social media platforms, blogs, and video-sharing sites allowed users to share their thoughts, opinions, and creative works with a global audience. Content monetization, through advertising, sponsored content, and subscription models, provided incentives for users to produce high-quality content. For example, in 1999, Friendster was launched, and by 2000, it had over 3 million users. Friendster was one of the first social media platforms to allow users to create profiles and connect with other users, and it helped to popularize the idea of user-generated content.

Businesses also underwent a digital transformation, recognizing the potential of e-commerce and online marketing. This shift allowed companies to tap into the growing digital market, further fueling the growth of Web 2.0. For example, in 1995, Amazon.com was launched, and it quickly became one of the largest online retailers in the world. Amazon’s success helped to demonstrate the potential of e-commerce, and it led to a wave of new businesses being launched online.

This transition from Web1 to Web2 has been driven by several key factors and all this drove the evolution of Web2.

Evolution of Web2 Social Media.

Web2 Social media has attained mainstream adoption globally with over 5 billion internet users, over 4.6 billion social media users, over 2.14 billion e-commerce shoppers, and an estimated $154 billion in video streaming revenue. The mass adoption of Web2 has had a profound impact on the way we live and work. Web2 has made it possible for users to connect, share information, and create new products and services in ways that were never before possible.

But this has not always been the case.

The concept of people connecting online to share information has been around for a long time, dating back to the 1980s with the emergence of online chat rooms and instant messaging services. However, social media as we know it today really started in the late 1990s with sites like Friendster and MySpace, which allowed users to create profiles, connect with friends, and share content.

In the early 2000s, Facebook and Twitter launched and quickly became two of the most popular social media platforms in the world. These platforms were a boon for people who wanted to reconnect and stay in touch with friends and family who lived far away. They also provided a valuable way to connect with others who shared your interests. But despite their many benefits, social media platforms have also come under fire for their downsides, such as the spread of misinformation and the exploitation of user data.

So, what keeps people using social media platforms despite the drawbacks? The answer is simple: their connections and investment in the content they have posted. People have spent years building their social networks and sharing their lives on these platforms. It’s no wonder that they’re hesitant to leave.

Here are some examples of the most frequently used Web2 social apps in 2023: WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter, and Snapchat.

By understanding the evolution from Web1 to Web2 and the factors that have made a huge impact in mainstream adoption and user retention, we can gain insights into how to onboard users to Web3 using social graphs as the key driver for mainstream adoption. Social graphs have always existed, but they have been owned by social networks. Web3 can leverage people’s existing social networks and connections, making it easier for them to transition to Web3 and start experiencing all that it has to offer.

Social Graphs: The Key to Mass Adoption of Web3 Social Media

While building Match Chain, we spent a lot of time understanding the motivations behind Web2 social media adoption because we believe it is key to a seamless migration to social Web3. Our research led us to the strong belief that social graphs are the key to unlocking this move for many reasons.

What is a social graph?

A social graph is a map of the relationships between users on a social media platform. It includes information like who follows whom, who likes whose posts, and a lot more.

Why are social graphs important for the mass adoption of Web3 social media?

Social graphs are important for several reasons:

Data ownership: Social graphs on Web2 platforms are owned by the platform itself. This means that users have no control over their data and can lose it at any time if the platform decides to delete their account. On Web3 social media platforms, users own their own social graphs. This means that they have complete control over their data and can take it with them to any platform they want.

Portability: Social graphs on Web2 platforms are not portable. This means that if a user wants to switch to a different platform, they have to start over from scratch and build a new social graph. On Web3 social media platforms, social graphs are portable. This means that users can easily switch platforms without losing their connections.

Discoverability: Social graphs help users to discover new content and people that they are likely to be interested in. This is because social graphs can be used to recommend content and people based on the user’s existing connections.

Community building: Social graphs provide a way for users to build communities and share their interests. This is because social graphs can be used to group users together based on their shared interests.

Conclusion

The journey from Web2 to Web3 represents a significant evolution in how we connect and interact online. Social networks have been a cornerstone of this evolution, and their role cannot be understated. People use social media platforms not just because they find the technology fascinating, but because it fulfills a fundamental need for connection, community, and self-expression.

As we reflect on the evolution of social media from its early days to the global behemoths of today, we see that these platforms have provided a space for people to stay connected with loved ones, discover new interests, and share their own stories. Despite their flaws and challenges, the enduring appeal of social media lies in the connections and content people have invested in over the years.

Understanding this user behavior is crucial for successfully onboarding users to Web3, where decentralization and ownership are at the forefront. Social graphs, which map the intricate relationships between users on social media platforms, hold the key to a seamless transition.

Web3 offers a shift, allowing users to own and control their social graphs, ensuring data ownership and portability. This empowers individuals to take their social connections with them across platforms, fostering a sense of continuity in an evolving digital landscape.

In essence, the path to mass adoption of Web3 social media is paved with an understanding of what made Web2 social media so compelling: the connections, content, and communities that have grown over time. By leveraging social graphs as a bridge between these two eras of the internet, we can usher in a new era of digital connectivity, where users are not just participants but true owners of their online social experiences. The future of Web3 holds the promise of a more decentralized, user-centric, and interconnected digital world and Match Chain is determined to bring this future to a reality.

For more information, visit the links below.

Website | DevDoc | Twitter | Discord | Telegram | Medium | Mirror | Reddit

This data can be used to manipulate users’ decisions in many ways, such as:

Tailoring advertising to users’ preferences, in order to influence their buying behavior.

Promoting political candidates or causes that are favorable to the platform’s owners.

Spreading misinformation or propaganda.

Fueling polarization and extremism.

We are all victims of this manipulation, whether we realize it or not. When it comes to users’ privacy and security, Web2 platforms are definitely lacking. This is a major reason why there is a need for Web3.

Just last week, we were discussing how rewarding creators on Web2 platforms like X could change the narrative. However, the move to a decentralized social network goes far beyond monetary rewards. It is bigger than that. It is the desire to create a system that is designed with the users at the center of it all. Web3 is a movement, a revolution for creators, and a new paradigm for social interaction.

Now that you know some of the pain points of Web2, let’s talk about Web3’s key propositions for tackling its setbacks.

Web3 Keys features Driving the New Paradigm for Social Engagement.

Decentralization and user empowerment: The goal of decentralizing the social experience is to shift the system from all that you’ve read before now which is a system of high-level censorship and control to a system that puts the user at the center of it all. Right now, for absolutely no reason you can wake up and no longer have access to your data or maybe even your content completely removed. While moderating may be needed, no one should be subjected to outright censorship.

We are not making this up, it’s all there:

Facebook has been accused of censoring content related to the Kurdish opposition against Turkey, the Kashmir dispute, the email leaks of Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden, and the conflict over the Sheikh Jarrah property dispute. The company has also been criticized for maintaining a secret blacklist of “dangerous individuals and organizations”. These practices have been criticized by human rights groups, journalists, and activists, who argue that they stifle free speech and prevent people from sharing important information.

In addition to the specific incidents mentioned above, Facebook has also been criticized for its broader censorship practices in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Critics argue that Facebook’s censorship in this region is stricter than in the United States and that it is used to silence dissent and stifle free speech.

This image of Jude was shared again on the Instagram Stories of Hearst Pride, the LGBTQ+ affinity group after it was originally posted and taken down.

This happened after Elon Musk took over Twitter, a platform that had been touted as a champion of free speech. Data Mobility: The current digital landscape is fragmented, with each social media platform having its own ecosystem and identity. This results in users’ data being locked and restricted depending to each platform. Data silos are a major problem in Web2 social media. When data is siloed, it is locked up in a single platform and cannot be easily shared or accessed by other platforms. This gives the platform that controls the data a lot of power, and it can be used to exploit users or to stifle competition.

The current system restricts us from transferring our data and relationships across different networks, leading to fragmented digital identities. Data mobility is the concept of moving data freely between different platforms and applications. It is at the heart of the Web3 Social paradigm, which aims to eliminate the barriers that prevent us from taking our digital experiences with us as we navigate through various platforms.

A recent example of carrying your data with you was the case of Instagram and Threads. When Threads was launched, users were able to connect their Instagram accounts and bring their data with them. This meant that they didn’t have to create a new profile or start from scratch.

The only problem with this is that your data is still within the Meta ecosystem. This means that Meta still has control over your data. However, it is a step in the right direction. It shows that it is possible to carry your data with you across different platforms.

Web3 promises to take this a step further. In Web3, your data will be stored on the blockchain, which is a decentralized database. This means that no one company will have control over your data. You will be able to carry your data with you across any platform, regardless of who owns it.

One of the projects driving Data Mobility is Match Chain. Match Chain is a revolutionary social graph built on Cosmos that serves as a catalyst for data mobility in Web3 Social. It is an open, permissionless foundation for providing users control over their data, fostering transparency, and enabling effortless data transfer across different networks.

The Web3 Social promise is that data mobility will revolutionize the way we interact with social media. It will make it easier for us to connect with people, build relationships, and share content. Match Chain is a key enabler of the Web3 social vision.

Match Chain allows builders to seamlessly build social experiences and provide them with access to high user traffic. This lowers the barrier to entry for new developers as they can now build their innovation and easily scale it on the Match Chain.

3. Creator Empowerment: In Web2, your content is not yours. You may want to argue this point, but what do you do if you wake up and see that all your content and account is gone? Let me help you with the answer: nothing.

Content ownership is a complex issue because users own the content they create, but the platforms they use to share that content typically have the right to remove or modify it at any time. This means that users can lose access to their content if the platform shuts down or changes its terms of service.

For example, if you create a post on LinkedIn and LinkedIn decides to delete your post, there is nothing you can do to get it back. LinkedIn owns the platform and the content on it, so they have the right to do whatever they want with it.

This lack of control over content ownership can be a major problem for creators. It can make it difficult to build a sustainable business around their work, and it can also make it difficult to protect their intellectual property.

So how does Web3 change this, you may ask? Web3 socials allows you to mint your content as NFTs (non-fungible tokens) which are unique digital assets that are stored on the blockchain. This means that they are tamper-proof and cannot be easily copied or deleted.

When you mint your content as an NFT, you are essentially creating a digital certificate of ownership. This certificate is stored on the blockchain and cannot be tampered with. This gives you the peace of mind knowing that your content is yours and that you can control how it is used.

3. Community Building: Recently discovered a new decentralized application (dApp) called Friend.tech that allows Twitter users to sell shares of their accounts. This means that anyone can buy shares of their favorite creators, giving them a closer relationship with those creators than is possible for the average follower.

Friend.tech is built on the Base blockchain, which is a layer-2 scaling solution for Ethereum. This makes it more scalable and efficient than traditional Ethereum dApps.

To use Friend.tech, users first need to connect their Twitter account. Once they have done that, they can create a shareable link that allows others to buy shares of their account. The price of each share is determined by supply and demand.

When someone buys a share of a Twitter account, they gain certain privileges, such as the ability to send private messages to the account holder and participate in exclusive chat rooms. The more shares someone owns, the more privileges they have.

Friend.tech is still in its early stages, but it’s exciting to see how much people are excited about the possibilities.

Web3 socials can help with community building because they offer creators new opportunities. For example, imagine a chef who offers a cooking class with a special ingredient kit. Every participant who purchases the kit (and is also a verified attendee of the class) gains access to an exclusive online forum. In this forum, they can discuss cooking techniques, share their culinary creations, and even interact with the chef who taught the class.

This concept is similar to the emerging trend of Web3 community integration. For example, users of platforms like this exclusive forum and other Web3 culinary apps can easily find the profiles of other chefs who are part of the same class attendee community. These innovative approaches to fostering interconnected global communities go beyond the capabilities of the current Web2 landscape.

There are also several Decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) which are also another form of community building towards achieving a certain goal from charitable causes and nonprofits to open source software development and healthcare collaboratives. The possibilities are endless!

For example, the Moloch DAO has raised over $10 million to fund research into synthetic biology, the KlimaDAO is using blockchain technology to fight climate change and Uniswap DAO governs Uniswap Protocol, a top decentralized exchange that allows users to trade cryptocurrencies without the need for a central authority.

We have only scratched the surface of the many ways to foster communities on Blockchain. We encourage you to do more research on this topic.

Conclusion

Web3 socials is evolving and it’s really exciting to see because of the possibilities it opens up for creators and users. It is a complete revolution, although, in its early stage, it’s changing how we think about social experiences.

We are truly not at the point where everyone is using it, but every day we see projects like Match and others that are making it easier to build while helping to provide user traffic for these new experiences.

One thing is certain, Web3 is not a fad or a bubble that will burst with time.

Decentralization has transcended its origins in the digital ecosystem to become a global topic of paramount importance. Beyond the space of digital innovation, discussions about the feasibility of genuine decentralization and the potential for mainstream adoption oscillate between hopeful anticipation and plausible reality. The recognition that decentralization holds the key to dismantling the stronghold of centralized establishments while empowering individuals is now firmly ingrained. At the forefront of this paradigm shift stands Match Chain — a decentralized layer1 social graph engineered to pave the way for mainstream adoption of decentralization social applications.

Indeed, Match Chain shines as a beacon of innovation, offering a powerful and secure platform that redefines the way we exchange value, manage digital identities, and interact within a decentralized ecosystem. In this article, as we navigate through the intricate landscape of Match Chain’s core features, we will not only uncover the ways through which these attributes kindle the flames of decentralization but also witness how Match Chain’s innovative prowess manifests in reshaping fundamental aspects of various industries.

Digital Identity Management: Putting Ownership in Your Hands

Traditional identity systems are centralized and vulnerable to cyberattacks. They also give third parties too much control over your personal data. Match Chain offers a new approach to digital identity management: self-sovereign identity in the form of DIDs.

With self-sovereign identity, you own and control your own identity data. You can share the data with third parties only when you want to and can revoke access at any time. This provides users with much greater security and privacy.

Match Chain has ingeniously crafted a digital identity management system that operates on a trio of cardinal principles — decentralization, transparency, and privacy — redefining the very essence of digital identity management.

Decentralization:

At the heart of Match Chain’s identity management system lies a revolutionary shift from conventional centralized repositories to decentralized identifiers (DIDs). This transition redefines the security landscape. Identity data is no longer confined to vulnerable centralized servers but is instead fragmented and distributed across a network of nodes. This decentralized architecture makes the system virtually impervious to hacking or data breaches, as the absence of a single point of failure deters malicious actors from exploiting vulnerabilities. Thus, whether it’s personal information, credentials, or biometric data, Match Chain ensures that each piece of identity-related information is meticulously safeguarded through its decentralized blockchain infrastructure.

Transparency:

Transparency, a cornerstone of any credible identity management system. By storing all identity-related transactions on an open and transparent ledger, Match Chain empowers users to validate and verify their own data at any given time. This eliminates the need for blind trust in third-party intermediaries and establishes a direct connection between users and their identity records. Through the transparent ledger, individuals can confidently inspect the history of interactions related to their identity, ensuring accuracy and fostering accountability.

Privacy:

In a digital age where concerns about data privacy are critical, Match Chain’s identity management system reaffirms individual sovereignty. Users are granted unparalleled control over their identity data. They wield the authority to grant or revoke access to specific components of their identity, thereby dictating who can view their information and under what circumstances. This principle of granular consent ensures that personal data is shared only with trusted entities, preserving privacy without compromising convenience. Moreover, the ability to revoke access at any time places the reins of control squarely in the hands of the data owner, reinforcing the sanctity of digital identity.

As Match Chain pioneers this transformative approach to digital identity management, it extends a clarion call to the digital ecosystem, advocating for a future where security, transparency, and privacy converge harmoniously. By anchoring its system in these principles, Match Chain not only presents a model that enhances the security of digital identities but also galvanizes a broader movement towards decentralized, user-centric identity management.

Secure and Efficient Platform: The Foundation of Trust

Central to Match Chain’s vision of decentralization is the solid foundation it stands on. The platform is built on Cosmos, a secure and highly efficient ecosystem that is meticulously designed to drive interoperability in the blockchain ecosystem.

When we look into the architecture of Match Chain, it becomes evident that this platform is not just a product but a testament to innovation meeting necessity, all while upholding the bedrock of trust.

The following are the Match Chain Platform features promoting security and efficiency:

Solid Security Mechanisms:

Match Chain stands tall in its commitment to safeguarding user data and ensuring the utmost security Match Chain uses a unique consensus mechanisms called Stochastic Proof of Stake. This mechanism forms a formidable fortress around user data, integrating a multi-faceted approach including encryption, authentication, and authorization. Through these robust mechanisms, Match Chain erects an impregnable barrier, safeguarding the sanctity of users’ data.

Scalability and Performance:

In the fast-paced digital landscape, scalability and performance are the cornerstones of sustainability. Match Chain’s infrastructure is designed to rise above the challenges posed by surges in demand, remaining efficient even when confronted with high user traffic. The growth of Intoverse, a rapidly growing Web3 social network built on Match Chain, stands as a testament to its scalability and efficiency.

Blockchain technology has revolutionized various industries by introducing enhanced security and transparency. One intriguing application of blockchain is the concept of Social Graphs, which takes the conventional idea of social networks and infuses it with the power of blockchain technology. This article covers the fundamentals of Social Graphs on Blockchain, defining their significance and exploring how they differ from traditional social networks.

Understanding Social Graphs on Blockchain.

Social Graphs on Blockchain refer to a network of interconnected nodes which could be users, organizations, or even smart contracts. Each node holds its unique identity and maintains a web of connections with other nodes based on interactions, transactions, or any predefined criteria. This results in a powerful and trustless social network where data is securely stored and tamper-resistant due to the nature of the blockchain’s immutable ledger.

Indeed, social graphs on blockchain have the potential to revolutionize the way we interact with each other. They can be used to create more secure and transparent networks, build stronger communities, and empower individuals.

There are certain key components of a Social Graph on Blockchain, and some of them are discussed below:

Nodes are the individual participants in the network. Each node has its own cryptographic identity, and their interactions and relationships are recorded in the form of transactions on the blockchain. Edges represent the connections or relationships between nodes. These edges are established when transactions occur between nodes or when specific predefined actions take place. Decentralization is a key feature of social graphs on the blockchain. This means that no single authority has control over the entire network, enhancing data privacy and security. Identity: Each node in a social graph on the blockchain has a unique identity, which is stored on the blockchain. This identity can be used to verify the authenticity of the node and to track its interactions with other nodes. Privacy: The data stored on a social graph on the blockchain can be encrypted, which helps to protect the privacy of the users. Transparency: The transactions that occur on a social graph on the blockchain are transparent, which means that anyone can view them. This transparency can help to build trust and accountability in the network. How Social Graphs Differ from Traditional Social Networks

There are several key differences between social graphs on blockchain and traditional social networks.

Trust and Transparency: Traditional social networks often rely on trust in the central authority managing the platform. This trust can be compromised if the authority misuses or mishandles user data. In contrast, Social Graphs on Blockchain are built on decentralized consensus, ensuring transparency and eliminating the need for blind trust in any single entity.

Data Ownership and Control: In conventional social networks, users typically relinquish control of their data to the platform provider. With Social Graphs on Blockchain, users retain ownership of their data and can choose which parts of their information they want to share with others.

Security and Privacy: Social Graphs on Blockchain use cryptographic techniques and decentralized protocols to ensure the security and privacy of data. Data stored on the blockchain cannot be easily altered or deleted, reducing the risk of data breaches and unauthorized access.

Enhanced Interoperability: Traditional social networks often suffer from data silos, making it challenging for users to switch between platforms or share data across networks. Social Graphs on Blockchain have the potential to enable greater interoperability and seamless data exchange between various decentralized applications (DApps).

Benefits of Leveraging Blockchain for Social Graph Management

Social Graphs on Blockchain play a pivotal role in reshaping digital interactions by empowering users and fostering a more secure and transparent environment. They bring numerous advantages to the management of Social Graphs, enhancing the functionality and user experience of decentralized networks. Some key benefits include:

Enhanced Security and Data Integrity: The immutable nature of blockchain ensures that data within the Social Graph remains secure and tamper-proof, reducing the risk of data manipulation or unauthorized access. Decentralization and Trustless Network: Social Graphs on Blockchain operate in a decentralized manner, eliminating the need for a central authority and fostering trust through transparent and consensus-driven interactions. Privacy and Data Ownership: Users retain control over their data within the Social Graph and can choose how much information to share, enhancing privacy and data ownership rights. Interoperability and Cross-Platform Integration: Blockchain-based Social Graphs allow for seamless data exchange between various DApps, fostering greater interoperability across the blockchain ecosystem. Use Cases and Applications of Social Graphs on Blockchain

A. Building Decentralized Social Media Platforms:

Blockchain-powered Social Graphs provide the foundation for creating decentralized social media platforms, such as Match Chain, a decentralized social graph platform that is built on the Cosmos SDK. It provides a secure and transparent platform for users to connect with each other and share content. Match Chain is also designed to be interoperable with other blockchain networks, which allows for the seamless exchange of data and content. These platforms can empower users by granting them full control over their data, rewarding content creators more fairly, and reducing the influence of centralized entities in content moderation.

B. Facilitating Peer-to-Peer Collaboration and Content Sharing:

Social Graphs enable seamless connections between individuals, making it easier for users to collaborate, share content, and form communities without relying on intermediaries.

C. Strengthening Identity Verification and KYC Processes:

Social Graphs on Blockchain can enhance identity verification and Know Your Customer (KYC) processes. By maintaining a reliable network of connections between verified users, identity fraud and fake accounts can be significantly reduced.

D. Supporting Decentralized Finance (DeFi) and Lending Platforms:

Social Graphs can be integrated into decentralized finance applications, enabling better risk assessment, trust-based lending, and facilitating peer-to-peer financial interactions.

Future Outlook: The Social Graph Revolution

Social graphs on blockchain represent a revolutionary innovation that is reshaping the digital landscape, empowering users, and fostering a more secure, transparent, and equitable social network ecosystem.

As blockchain technology becomes more accessible and user-friendly, we can anticipate a mass adoption of decentralized social media platforms built on social graphs. These platforms will prioritize data ownership, security, and privacy, granting users full control over their information and content while providing fair rewards to content creators. The interoperability of social graphs across different blockchain networks will foster a more connected and collaborative ecosystem, enabling seamless data exchange and reducing data silos.

The future of social graphs on the blockchain is one of immense promise and potential.

To join us and gain more information on the Match chain and what we do, visit:

Website | DevDoc | Twitter | Discord | Telegram | Medium | Mirror | Reddit

If you’ve come around the word “blockchain,” then you are likely very familiar with conversations around its features and potential to change the narrative across different industries. In this article, we will be exploring the ethical implications of blockchain technology.

But before we explore the ethical aspects, let’s begin by providing a concise overview of what blockchain is and how it works.

A blockchain is a decentralized and immutable ledger that records transactions in a transparent manner across multiple computers or nodes. It enables secure and transparent record-keeping without the need for a central authority and functions as a chain of blocks, where each block contains a set of transactions. What sets blockchain apart is its unique combination of cryptographic algorithms, consensus mechanisms, and decentralized architecture, which work together to ensure the integrity and immutability of the recorded data.

In essence, when a transaction occurs on a blockchain network, it undergoes a verification process by the participating nodes. Once validated, the transaction is added to a block, which is then linked to the preceding block, forming a chain of interconnected blocks. This decentralized nature of blockchain, coupled with its cryptographic safeguards, makes it extremely difficult for any single entity to manipulate or tamper with the recorded data.

With this foundational understanding, we can now discuss the ethical implications of blockchain technology. From privacy concerns and data security to governance and economic equity, blockchain technology introduces a range of ethical questions that begs for careful examination.

Throughout this article, we will explore these points in detail, examining both the potential benefits and risks associated with blockchain technology. By understanding the ethical implications, we can navigate the complex landscape of blockchain implementation more thoughtfully and proactively address the challenges and opportunities it presents.

The Benefits of Blockchain Technology.

The benefits of Blockchain technology are numerous across various industries. The potential of this technology to revolutionize systems and processes has garnered significant attention. Here are some of the key advantages of blockchain technology:

Transparency and Accountability

Blockchain provides a decentralized and immutable ledger that records transactions in a transparent and verifiable manner. This feature enhances trust and accountability among participants, as every transaction is documented and cannot be altered retroactively without consensus from the network. This transparency is particularly valuable in industries such as supply chain management, where tracking and verifying the origin and authenticity of products is crucial.

For example, blockchain is being used by major food companies to track the movement of food products through the supply chain. This information can be accessed by anyone on the blockchain, which helps to ensure that food is safe and that there is no counterfeiting.

Enhanced Security and Privacy

Blockchain employs advanced cryptographic techniques to secure data and prevent unauthorized access. Instead of relying on a central authority, transactions are validated and added to the blockchain through a consensus mechanism, making it highly resistant to tampering and fraud. Additionally, blockchain can enable users to have greater control over their personal data, allowing them to share only the necessary information while maintaining privacy.

For example, blockchain is being used to store medical records. This data is encrypted and distributed across the blockchain network, making it very difficult to hack or steal. Patients can also access their medical records from anywhere, which can improve the quality of care.

Cost and Efficiency Savings

Traditional systems often involve intermediaries and manual processes that can be time-consuming and costly. Blockchain technology eliminates the need for intermediaries by facilitating direct peer-to-peer transactions. This streamlined approach reduces transactional costs and processing time. Moreover, smart contracts, which are self-executing agreements recorded on the blockchain, automate business processes, reducing human errors and inefficiencies.

For example, blockchain is being used by banks to automate the clearing and settlement of payments. This process can be completed in minutes instead of days or weeks, which saves banks a significant amount of money.

New Business Models and Applications

Blockchain’s decentralized and trustless nature has the potential to transform existing business models and enable entirely new ones. For instance, blockchain-based cryptocurrencies have disrupted the financial industry, providing an alternative to traditional banking systems. Additionally, blockchain enables the tokenization of assets, allowing fractional ownership and facilitating new investment opportunities. Furthermore, blockchain has the potential to optimize processes in various sectors, including healthcare, real estate, supply chain, and voting systems, among others.

For example, blockchain is being used by real estate companies to track the ownership of properties. This information can be accessed by anyone on the blockchain, which helps to reduce fraud and make the real estate market more transparent.

While blockchain technology offers significant advantages, it is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Organizations must carefully evaluate their suitability for their specific use cases, considering factors such as scalability, energy consumption, and regulatory compliance. Nonetheless, the benefits of blockchain technology are undeniable, and its continued development and adoption hold immense promise for the future.

The Ethical Implications of Blockchain Technology

The ethical implications of blockchain technology are still being debated and have raised significant concerns among experts and policymakers. While blockchain has the potential to revolutionize various industries, it also poses several ethical challenges that need to be carefully addressed.

Here are some specific examples of the ethical implications of blockchain technology:

Tracking and Surveillance:

Blockchain’s ability to provide a transparent and immutable ledger raises concerns about individual privacy and surveillance. While the technology can enhance accountability and transparency in certain contexts, such as supply chain management or government operations, it also has the potential to enable pervasive tracking and monitoring of individuals’ activities. This creates ethical dilemmas regarding the balance between individual privacy rights and the need for public safety or regulatory compliance.

Facilitation of Illegal Activities:

The decentralized and pseudonymous nature of blockchain transactions can provide a platform for illegal activities, including the sale of illicit goods and services. Criminal organizations could leverage the anonymity and security of blockchain to facilitate activities such as money laundering, drug trafficking, or human trafficking. This poses challenges for law enforcement agencies and regulatory bodies in combating such illicit practices while ensuring the technology’s positive potential is not overshadowed.

Undermining Democratic Institutions:

Blockchain-based systems have the potential to disrupt existing centralized institutions, including governments and financial intermediaries. While this can bring greater efficiency and inclusivity, it also raises ethical concerns about the potential for manipulation or corruption within decentralized systems. For example, blockchain-based voting systems could be vulnerable to coercion or tampering, undermining the integrity of democratic processes. Striking the right balance between decentralization, accountability, and governance becomes crucial to mitigate these risks.

Economic Inequities and Power Imbalances:

Blockchain technology has the potential to reshape economic systems by eliminating intermediaries, reducing transaction costs, and providing financial access to underserved populations. However, if not carefully designed, blockchain can exacerbate existing economic inequities. Those with more technical knowledge, computational resources, or early access to the technology may accumulate significant power and wealth, leading to increased disparities. Ensuring inclusivity, accessibility, and equal opportunity in the adoption and implementation of blockchain technology becomes vital to address these ethical concerns.

Conclusion

Blockchain technology is a truly powerful and revolutionary tool with the potential to revolutionize many industries. However, it is important to be mindful of the ethical implications associated with its adoption. To mitigate these ethical implications, it is important to implement strong frameworks that strike a balance between innovation, individual privacy, security, and ethical standards that align with societal values. By doing so, we can maximize the benefits of blockchain while mitigating potential risks and ensuring a positive impact on society.

For more information about Match Chain, visit the links below.

Website | DevDoc | Twitter | Discord | Telegram | Medium | Mirror | Reddit

There is a growing need for privacy-preserving and secure digital identity solutions, and Decentralized identifiers (DIDs) and social graph solutions are two promising solutions. DIDs are self-sovereign identifiers that allow users to control their identity data. They are stored on a blockchain, which means that they are not governed by any central authority. This makes it much more difficult for third parties to track or misuse users’ data.

Also, Social graphs provide a way for users to connect and share data in a secure and private way. They do this by creating a decentralized database of relationships between users. This database is not controlled by any central authority, so users can be confident that their data is safe and secure.

DIDs and social graph solutions are still in their early stages of development, but they give users more control over their data. These solutions can help to protect privacy and security in the digital age.

How does this privacy feature work? The DID and Layer1 Social Graph on Cosmos incorporates several privacy-enhancing features that work together to protect users’ personal information. These features include:

Zero-knowledge proofs: Users can prove their identity without revealing sensitive information. For example, it is possible to verify that a user is over 18 years old without disclosing their date of birth.

Data encryption: All data on the DID and Social Graph Layer1 is encrypted, ensuring that unauthorized parties cannot access it. Even if someone manages to hack into the network, the encrypted data remains inaccessible.

Distributed ledger technology: The DID and Social Graph utilize a tamper-proof and censorship-resistant distributed ledger. Once data is stored on the ledger, it becomes immutable, preventing any modifications or deletions. This feature also safeguards against government or organizational censorship.

By combining these privacy-enhancing measures, the DID and Social Graph provide users with a secure and private platform for storing and sharing personal information.

DIDs and Social Graph: Security Considerations. While DIDs and social graph solutions offer privacy-enhancing features, there remain certain security risks associated with them. Some include:

Fraud and Impersonation: Malevolent individuals may exploit the system by fabricating fake DIDs or social graph profiles, allowing them to pose as genuine users. This deceptive tactic can grant unauthorized access to user accounts or facilitate the dissemination of false information.

Data Breaches: In the event of a hack targeting a DID or social graph service, user data becomes vulnerable to compromise. This breach could expose sensitive information, such as passwords, contact details, and financial data, jeopardizing the privacy and security of users.

Technical Challenges: As dDecentralized Identifiers (DIDs) and social graph solutions are still in the developmental stage, they face certain technical hurdles that necessitate resolution. One crucial aspect is ensuring scalability and interoperability, allowing these solutions to handle a large volume of users and effectively interact with other systems.

Efforts must be made to address these security risks and overcome the technical challenges to foster a more secure and decentralized DIDs and social graph ecosystem.

DIDs and Social Graph: User Empowerment. One of the key benefits of DIDs and social graph solutions lies in the profound empowerment they provide to users by granting them a higher degree of control over their data. Unlike traditional centralized identity systems, which often require individuals to relinquish their data to a central authority, decentralized solutions offer a paradigm shift.

With Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) and social graph solutions, users are no longer bound by rigid data-sharing practices. They have the autonomy to determine which specific pieces of information they want to share with others. Whether it’s their personal contact details, educational background, work history, or even their preferences and interests, users have the freedom to selectively disclose data according to their comfort levels and the context of each interaction.

Furthermore, decentralized systems ensure that users retain the ultimate authority to revoke access to their data at any time. This unparalleled capability serves as a vital safeguard, enabling individuals to reclaim control over their information when circumstances change or when they no longer trust the recipients with whom they initially shared the data.

By putting users at the forefront, DIDs and social graph solutions foster a new era of trust and transparency. Users can actively participate in shaping their digital identities, actively managing and curating the information they share, and maintaining a sense of ownership over their data.

This enhanced level of user control not only reinforces privacy and security but also facilitates more meaningful and personalized interactions in digital spaces.

Regulatory Landscape. The regulatory landscape for Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) and social graph solutions is still evolving. However, there are a number of regulations that could impact these technologies, including:

Data protection laws: These laws require businesses to protect the personal data of their customers. DIDs and social graph solutions could be subject to these laws if they are used to collect or process personal data.

Financial regulations: These laws regulate the use of financial data, and they could impact the development of decentralized financial applications. DIDs and social graph solutions could be subject to these laws if they are used to store or transmit financial data.

Privacy laws: These laws protect the privacy of individuals, and they could impact the way that DIDs and social graph solutions collect and use data. DIDs and social graph solutions could be subject to these laws if used to collect or process personal data.

Conclusion Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) and social graph solutions present a ray of hope in overcoming the persistent privacy and security challenges of Web2. These innovative approaches offer the potential to empower individuals with greater control over their data while enabling secure and trustworthy interactions online. Nevertheless, it is important to acknowledge that the innovations are still in their infancy, with extensive ongoing research and development required to refine and implement truly transformative solutions.

The complexity of privacy and security concerns in the digital landscape necessitates a comprehensive and multidimensional approach. DIDs and social graph solutions represent a significant step in the right direction.

As the evolution of DIDs and social graph solutions continues, it is crucial for researchers, industry experts, policymakers, and end-users to collaborate and contribute to the advancement of this field. Further exploration is needed to address interoperability challenges, scalability concerns, and potential vulnerabilities that may arise as these solutions become more widespread.

Ultimately, the successful implementation of DIDs and social graph solutions hinges on striking a delicate balance between privacy, security, convenience, and usability. By embracing a user-centric approach and leveraging emerging technologies, we have the potential to create a digital ecosystem that respects individuals’ rights while fostering innovation and inclusivity.

For more information about Match Chain, visit the links below.

Website | DevDoc | Twitter | Discord | Telegram | Medium | Mirror | Reddit

In today’s digital age, the protection of our individual identities has become increasingly crucial. As technology advances and we rely more on digital platforms, it has become alarmingly easy for others to gain access to, control, and manipulate the information that comprises our identities. This pervasive issue has raised global concerns and has persisted for years without significant resolution.

Despite the extensive media coverage and documentaries highlighting identity manipulation, the impact of these revelations has been disappointingly minimal. However, this state of affairs is not set to continue for long.

Undoubtedly, Blockchain technology is changing the narrative across different walks of life through innovations and technological advancement, and one of the most remarkable innovations currently making waves is Decentralized Identifiers(DID). From social identity down to official credentials, DID is changing the status quo and completely rewriting the narrative through self-sovereign identity, thereby putting people in control of their data and identity.

DIDs are also a central part of the cosmos ecosystem as they offer privacy, security, and interoperable identity that you can carry across different networks in the ecosystem.

Throughout this article, we will help you understand what DIDs are and their benefit on the cosmos ecosystem.

What are DIDs?

A Decentralized Identifier (DID) is a unique identifier used to represent individuals or organizations, and it is not controlled by a single entity. DID is currently at the forefront of blockchain innovation, empowering individuals to take control of their data and significantly reducing the risk of data theft or manipulation.

DID’s foundation rests on four key principles: decentralization, immutability, interoperability, and privacy. These principles imbue DIDs with immutability, interoperability, security, and resistance to censorship. Consequently, DIDs offer a promising solution for establishing secure and user-controlled digital identities in an increasingly interconnected and data-driven world.

It is worth noting that DIDs are stored on a blockchain, ensuring they are tamper-proof and immutable. Once a DID is created, it cannot be altered or deleted.

DIDs have so many applications, but they mostly fall under three major categories. They include:

Empower individuals to have control over their own identity data.

Develop systems that issue and verify digital certificates.

Integrate DIDs to authenticate users within decentralized applications.

Understanding DIDs.

DIDs are based on a standard called W3C DID specification. This specification provides a standardized framework for the representation and makes it possible for different applications and services to interoperate and share DIDs.

Essentially, a DID comprises two key elements: the DID identifier and the DID document.

The DID identifier is a unique URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) that serves as the unique identifier for a particular DID. Think of it as a special address that separates one DID from another.

While the DID document is a JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) object that contains important information about the specific DID. It serves as a container for the different details associated with the DID, such as the identity owner’s information, the public key linked to the DID, and the service endpoints that can be used to interact with the identity or associated services.

To help you understand, let’s create an example using the name “Abiodun Victoria” for a school certificate DID.

Please note that this example is fictional and created for illustrative purposes. In practice, generating real DIDs and associated documents would involve appropriate cryptographic protocols and security measures.

DID Identifier:

We’ll create a unique DID identifier using the name “Abiodun Victoria.” Let’s say the DID identifier is:
did:example:abiodunvictoria123
.

DID Document:

Now, let’s create a sample DID document in JSON format for Abiodun Victria’s school certificate:

In this example, the DID document includes the following elements:

”id”
: Specifies the DID identifier, associating it with the document.

”publicKey”
: Represents the public key associated with Abiodun Victoria’s school certificate.

”authentication”
: Defines the authentication method using the specified public key.

”service”
: Describes a service related to the DID, such as a certificate service in this case.

”owner”
: Indicates the owner or identity associated with the DID, which is Abiodun Victoria.

Abiodun Victoria can now share her DID (
did:example:abiodunvictoria123
) and the corresponding DID document with relevant parties, such as educational institutions or potential employers. The DID document provides essential information about her school certificate, including her public key, authentication method, the certificate service endpoint, and ownership.

Others can use this information to verify the authenticity of Abiodun Victoria’s school certificate, interact with the certificate service, or establish secure communications using her public key.

Exploring Decentralized Identity (DID) on Cosmos.

DIDs are a key part of the Cosmos ecosystem, and since they are interoperable, it makes it possible for users to have a single, unified identity that can be used across different applications within the ecosystem. This means DID powers seamless identity management and interoperability across multiple blockchains within the Cosmos network.

First, DIDs offer a powerful solution by creating a unified identity that can seamlessly be used across multiple blockchain networks. This breakthrough innovation eliminates the hassle of creating new accounts for every application or service, providing users with easy access to different platforms.

Also, DIDs have completely revolutionized the way user data is shared across different blockchain networks. By maintaining a single, comprehensive identity record, individuals can effortlessly manage and update their personal information. This opens up lots of possibilities, from streamlined identity verification to simplified interactions with government services and even improving job application processes.

Finally, DIDs play a pivotal role in ensuring secure and private cross-chain communication. With DIDs, users can securely transmit messages, data, and tokens across various blockchain networks, safeguarding their privacy while enabling seamless interoperability.

The Cosmos network stands out as an exceptional example of a blockchain ecosystem that fully incorporates DIDs. Designed with interoperability as a core principle, the Cosmos network facilitates seamless communication between different blockchains within its ecosystem. This unique characteristic enables DIDs to be used across multiple blockchain networks within the Cosmos network.

There are several key technical components and protocols that enable DID on Cosmos. They include:

The Cosmos-SDK: The Cosmos-SDK is a powerful framework designed for building blockchain applications. The framework has a dedicated module specifically designed to manage DIDs. This module facilitates the creation and management of DIDs, which makes it easy for developers to create applications that use DIDs.

The W3C DID specification: The W3C specification provides a standard for representing and managing DIDs. This specification defines the methodology for creating DIDs and storing them. It is already widely used in the Cosmos ecosystem.

The Interchain Identity (ICID) project: The ICID project is still in its early stage but is developing a standardized framework for DIDs within the Cosmos ecosystem. This standardization effort ensures seamless interoperability as it is designed to be interoperable with other DID standards, such as the W3C DID specification. This means that DIDs created using ICID can be used across different blockchain networks.

The W3C Verifiable Credentials (VC) specification: The W3C VC specification is another important standard that plays a significant role in enabling DIDs on Cosmos. This specification outlines a standardized approach for issuing and verifying verifiable credentials. Verifiable credentials are digital certificates that allow individuals to prove their identity or qualifications in a secure and tamper-proof manner. By incorporating the W3C VC specification, Cosmos promotes verifying credentials using DIDs within its decentralized identity infrastructure.

Real-World Use Cases of DID.

If you made it down here, you could already think of a million ways DID can be incorporated into different walks of life. These statistics are not all surprising as they confirm the rapid growth and adoption of the blockchain. This is especially true for DeFi, a blockchain application that empowers individuals with greater control over their assets.

However, as blockchain networks begin to cater to more users, scalability and interoperability challenges have become major pain points limiting the complete adoption of the blockchain.

In this article, Match Chain will be introduced, a project with a unique approach to interoperability, scalability, and even user data privacy and control. Keep reading to understand how Match is creating the future of DeFi.

HOW MATCH IS TRANSFORMING DECENTRALIZED TRANSACTIONS

Match Chain is a layer 1 social graph with cosmos-level interoperability powered by the SPoS (Stochastic-clustering Proof-of-Stake) consensus mechanism and operated using a DAO management framework governed by 21 super nodes. The chain is designed to scale through shards that process transactions independently, thus increasing our scalability while maintaining high security.

By leveraging Cosmos’ inter-blockchain communication (IBC) layer, the ecosystem facilitates seamless communication between separate blockchains and provides efficient data and traffic transfer. With this unique design, Match offer a sustainable way of onboarding countless web2 users to web3 without worrying about slow transaction processing and the lack of interoperability between chains. With Match, users can trade tokens across various chains and integrate external dApps with ease.

And there’s more.

The primary goal at Match Chain is to be the universal social graph protocol that helps users gain data sovereignty through its modularity, composability, optimized interoperability, and privacy protection. The platform aims to give users complete control of their social identities using our DID (Decentralized Identifier) and ZKP (Zero-Knowledge Proof) solutions.

Social graphs are mappings of social relationships between individuals and a representation of their interactions with other users on a network. Unlike Web 2, where major social media platforms often take advantage of user graphs by selling them to advertisers, Match gives the control back to the users allowing them to monetize their data if they wish. In addition, users can effortlessly shift their identity with all on-chain history to other platforms without any snags.

Furthermore, users can personalize their experience by enjoying content specific to their interests, such as tokenized videos and music, joining customized trading or gaming platforms, and gaining access to particular tools and products.

With Match as Web3’s social graph, users can enjoy true social networks and analytical platforms that are not just fun and engaging but also monetizable, interoperable, and completely scalable.

Some of the key components used to design social graphs and maintain data privacy at Match are Decentralized Identifiers, the IBC protocol, cross-chain tradeable NFTs, and Zero Knowledge Proof for data privacy.

DIDs are unique identifiers tied to each entity on the Match blockchain. They provide a self-sovereign identity framework, allowing users to control their identity and personal data, authenticate themselves and establish trust in social graph networks without relying on centralized authorities. In addition, the Cosmos interoperable protocol, IBC, is utilized for secure data and asset transfer and connection establishment between different chains, thus expanding the scope and reach of the network.

Furthermore, cross-chain tradeable NFTs represent ownership or proof of specific relationships or attributes. They also enable users to trade or transfer these tokens across different blockchain networks using the ICS-721 standard. Lastly, ZKPs are a powerful tool for maintaining data privacy, as users can now prove the validity of statements or interactions without revealing any unnecessary information.

By combining these components, Match Chain creates a decentralized and privacy-preserving social graph network that is leagues ahead of other blockchains where users have control over their identities, data privacy is ensured through ZKPs, and there is seamless connectivity and data exchange across different blockchain networks.

With this approach, Match fosters a user-centric and secure environment for social interactions in Web3.

WHAT YOU STAND TO GAIN WITH MATCH CHAIN.

There are countless benefits to joining Match. All users on the platform enjoy advanced security, a user-centric environment, and blockchain-based payment options using the platform’s native token, MAT. Moreover, there are more opportunities for monetization and incentivization through the tokenization of social graphs using non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Users can benefit economically from their social graph by creating valuable and tradable social connections while earning from decentralized incentive mechanisms, such as token rewards for specific actions.

In addition, Match increases user engagement and satisfaction by analyzing the social graph data to suggest relevant content, products, or services based on the preferences and behaviors of a user’s social connections. Lastly, users can rely on recommendations, endorsements, or testimonials from their trusted connections to make informed decisions, and this encourages ethical behavior among consumers.

Match Chain is determined to provide users with the best of Web2 and Web3 and a painless onboarding experience. The network is transforming DeFi, and it will serve as the hub where users can connect with others, discover relevant content, collaborate, and pursue social and professional growth while maintaining ownership and control over their data and interactions.

To join us and gain more information on the Match chain and what we do, visit:

Website | DevDoc | Twitter | Discord | Telegram | Medium | Mirror | Reddit

Our society is designed to follow strict conventions, and deviation from the norm generates harsh criticism and unfair assessments.

Our society has functioned with this mode of operation for a long time. Although every generation claims to be different, we usually are drawn to our primal instincts and are very quick to attack innovations rather than embrace them.

This article seeks to provide an exciting outlook on a technology that has the potential to revolutionize our perception of work, relationships and social interactions- the blockchain technology.

Blockchain Technology

Blockchain technology is no longer a new concept per se; we all seem to have an idea of what this concept represents. After all, our favourite Twitter influencer talks about it alongside our social entrepreneurs. Cryptocurrency, NFTs, Defi, etc., are all offshoots of this fantastic technology; however, many people fail to comprehend how relevant this evolving innovation is poised to become.

Life is a journey of variables, events and outcomes; our present is influenced by events in our past, and our future will be equally shaped by our current happenings. As we all know, Blockchain technology was introduced via Bitcoin as a decentralized ledger technology that allows trustless digital transactions. The objective was for it to become the foundation of a new financial order, distinct from the corrupt and exploitative one we were used to. The intention of the creator- Satoshi Nakamoto, was to give power back to the people.

In the past 12–14 years, the blockchain ecosystem has witnessed several eventful moments, and the ecosystem has adjusted appropriately. The growth in the industry has been so immense that one might find it difficult to believe we are yet to clock two decades. This tremendous growth we have witnessed so far gives us the ability to project into the future to estimate how much more can be done with this technology and the amazing community at our disposal.

Opportunities in Blockchain Technology

The use cases of blockchain technology transcend anything we can conceive with our minds or intellect; however, for the sake of this article, we hope to identify specific key sectors that are in dire need of the solutions that blockchain technology can provide.

These industries include the following:

Finance Industry: Through blockchain technology, financial services would become more user-oriented, transparent and secure. The current global financial model has several loopholes enforced by the centralized data storage system. This has led to several cases of customer dissatisfaction and damage to client-service providers’ relationships.

Blockchain technology would address these significant loopholes, thereby improving the efficiency of transactions, reducing the cost of financial operations and providing robust security for economic activities. Currently, projects are already ongoing to achieve the possibilities listed above: R3 LLC is a notable blockchain company comprising an ecosystem of over 300 companies working to develop distributed applications on top of Corda, an open-source blockchain platform. Financial companies such as Barclays, Credit Suisse, State Street, Bank of America, BNY Mellon, Citi, Deutsche Bank, National Australia Band, Wells Fargo and Royal Bank of Canada make up its consortium. In addition, blockchain technology can be used for fraud reduction, loan processing, improved customer service and transparent working operations.

Healthcare Industry: The Healthcare sector is one of the sectors where accurate record-keeping is highly required. Health records of patients from twenty years ago are necessary to appropriately address new presenting complaints to arrive at a precise diagnosis and effective management. Unfortunately, the healthcare industry has faced a vast challenge involving sharing and putting away medical information and records. There have been several cases of missing documents, blunders and extortion; these have brought distrust between patients and healthcare service providers and have led to preventable mortality.

According to reports, between the years 2009 and 2017, 176 million patient records were exposed to data breaches. Blockchain technology can rebuild the healthcare industry by providing accessible, transparent, and secure medical records, thereby supporting accurate medical diagnosis and treatment. Companies like BurstIQ, Medical Chain, Fanthom, etc., are already creating impressive frameworks to support the healthcare industry by incorporating blockchain technology.

Sports: Participation in sports events by supporters, popularly referred to as fans, has enabled the growth of the renowned sports of today. It has been well documented that many sporting leagues and competitions receive funding from attendance during events, shirt sales, and television viewing rights, among other sources.

These funding sources are backed by the solid relationship between fans and their respective clubs or sports icons. This relationship has faced several challenges in recent times as fans have expressed displeasure with the method of ticket allocations for sporting events. A notable example was the 2022 Champions League final match, in which several sections of the fans were unable to enter the stadium because of a high level of disorganization with the ticket allocation leading to confusion and immense dissatisfaction.

To avoid similar events in the future, several sporting leagues are already accommodating the possibility of NFT ticketing. Last month, the French Government’s Olympics envoy Michel Cadot sent in a 30-page report to the Prime Minister’s office on various ways of improving security measures and supporters’ satisfaction by incorporating blockchain technology in the form of NFT ticketing system for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, as well as the Rugby World Cup next year. In the future, similar approaches may be deployed by prominent leagues and sports tournaments.

Legal Industry: Through blockchain technology, litigation involving land disputes, settling issues regarding the wills of the deceased or some other documentation can be abolished. The technology will allow adequate storage and authentication of reports and documents, thereby addressing these recurring issues in the society.

Let’s look at a regular occurrence in our neighbourhoods. An individual buys a piece of property unknown to him that certain information regarding this piece of land has been withheld from him. He believes his documents are authentic enough to serve as proof of ownership in a court of law in the event of land disputes, only to find out that the papers he received were fake and the whole business operation was a scam. Stories like this permeate our social space, but they can be avoided if details of land ownership are stored on the blockchain, thereby allowing for provenance tracking and verification of true ownership. In addition, the technology could eradicate prolonged court disputes involving digital inheritance and other forms of ownership.

Closing thoughts

Blockchain technology is the gift that keeps on giving, and the potential of this technology is inexhaustible. This article commenced with a description of primal instincts to make revolutionary innovations a subject of derision before we eventually embrace them. Currently, many people scoff at blockchain technology and its several use cases citing reasons such as scalability and global scepticism; however, the ecosystem is undeterred.

We are designing the future, and our conviction is rock-solid that the future is blockchain!

For more information, visit the links below.

Website | DevDoc | Twitter | Discord | Telegram | Medium | Mirror | Reddit

In recent news, you might have come across talks about ics-721 or interoperable NFTs, leaving you wondering what exactly they are. If this sounds like you, this article was written with you in mind, and it is definitely all you will need to understand what this innovation is all about.

Even though the ICS-721 is a recent development, the concept has been in the works since 2021. The repo on the Cosmos GitHub shows that the draft was first adapted from the ics-20 spec and soon revised to accommodate more smart contracts and was renamed from ics-21 to ics-721. It was during this period which saw widespread discussions on NFTs, interoperability, sustainability, and future applications.

We all know interoperability is the way forward in the blockchain space. This is evident with projects focusing on cross-chain interoperability to make it easier for people to use their assets across different blockchains. This approach allows users to have a better experience by seamlessly moving their assets between multiple blockchains. For more comprehensive technical documentation, check the demo.

A brief explanation of ICS-721

The ICS-721 is an innovative application layer in the inter-blockchain communication (IBC) protocol designed to facilitate seamless communication between blockchains, eliminating the need for a bridging protocol.

Similar to ERC-721, ICS-721 is a standard that defines the implementation of NFTs, but it operates on the Cosmos network and is designed to provide interoperability for NFTs. By leveraging this new protocol, it becomes possible to integrate Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) across various sectors, such as social interactions and DIDs, in a more efficient and interconnected manner.

The beta testing of ICS-721 began with the launch of the Game of NFTs hackathon, where 198 teams worldwide participated in the initial phase. This collaborative effort and feedback will contribute to the continued development and advancement of the ICS-721 standard, bringing us closer to a more interconnected and vibrant interchain NFT ecosystem.

ICS-721 and MATCH CHAIN’s Implementation.

Match Chain stands at the forefront of leveraging the huge potential of the ICS-721 NFT standard. We are fully aware of the possibilities that harnessing the power of ICS-721 can offer. However, our primary focus revolves around minting social network content, aiming to revolutionise social interactions in unimaginable ways. We firmly believe that this newfound mobility will unlock the seamless transfer of digital assets across decentralized applications (dApps).

The integration of ICS-721 into our platform brings exciting opportunities for social dApps built on Match Chain. Just envision a seamless process where users can mint their social media posts, images, videos, and other content as interoperable NFTs. This transformative feature not only adds a new dimension to content ownership but also enables users to transcend existing limitations.

At Match Chain, we have the infrastructure and expertise necessary to turn this integration into reality as a layer 1 solution built on Cosmos. Our dedicated team is working tirelessly to ensure a smooth and efficient experience for our users. By incorporating ICS-721, our goal is to drive further growth within the blockchain ecosystem and reshape the landscape of ownership and social interaction.

The ICS-721 standard will have a significant impact on ownership within the blockchain ecosystem, primarily by addressing the long-standing need for seamless asset transfers. This innovation responds directly to the demands of the ecosystem, making it easier for gamers and other users to transfer assets within the Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) framework. This revolutionary technology is still in its early stages, but it holds the potential to bring about transformative changes that will shape the future.

For more information, visit the links below.

Website | DevDoc | Twitter | Discord | Telegram | Medium | Mirror | Reddit
